Theoden turned to Éomer and asked him to go and recruit men in the south and west.

He then turned to Eothain and said:

-Eothain... do the same in the east and north.

He finished by saying:

-Meet in four days on the slopes of the mountain, near the path of the dead.

Eomer and Eothain bowed and left the hall quickly.

Aragorn nodded to King Théoden.

-Thank you my friend. whispered the descendant of Isildur.

Theoden's gaze softened.

-You have helped me and your courage has opened my eyes. I will fight with you.

Elenwë noticed that Eowyn was slowly slipping away, a strange glint in her eye. What would she do?

Aragorn and Théoden hugged each other and the King of Rohan announced:

-Tomorrow morning, at dawn, we leave for the camp.

Elenwë folded her map and looked carefully at her companions.

Aragorn looked relieved, Legolas looked a little doubtful. Gimli looked serene and Merry looked anxious.

Elenwë quietly left the room to go and prepare her things.

She had just laced up her bundle when a knock was heard at the door of her room.

Elenwë went to open the door.

She came face to face with Legolas.

-Legolas.

He entered quickly and closed the door behind him.

He sighed and walked over to Elenwë and hugged her.

Elenwë was surprised for a moment before she relaxed and looked peacefully into Legolas' eyes.

-What is the matter? she asked.

-I... I am afraid for you... I do not want to lose you in this battle.

-It won't happen... I promise.

Legolas laid his hand gently on Elenwë's cheek and whispered:

-You cannot promise me that.

Elenwë looked away and answered softly:

-No indeed. But I am an excellent warrior. I have as much chance of survival as Aragorn or Gimli or you.

-That is what worries me.

Elenwë looked carefully at Legolas' worried face.

-Hey... everything will be fine. You will see. We will survive. We will defeat Sauron's army and Frodo will succeed in his task.

-I hope so.

Elenwë hesitated for a moment, then moved timidly closer to Legolas.

She placed her lips furtively against his.

Then she stepped back, blushing and a little embarrassed.

Legolas did not let her go and ran his hand down her neck before kissing her a little harder.

Elenwë blushed as she felt Legolas hold her like this, but immediately felt his lips against hers.

He put his free arm around Elenwë's waist and held her close.

Then, after their embrace, he looked at her and whispered lovingly:

-Amin mela le.. Elenwë.

-Amin mela le.. Melleth nin. She replied.

Legolas ran his hand through his hair and said the ear:

-Hannon le.. Melleth nin.

Elenwë blushed violently and smiled shyly at her fiancé.

He looked at her and took out of his pocket a silver ring set with a blue moonstone.

-As it was not yet official.

He gently grabbed Elenwë's left hand and slipped the ring onto her ring finger.

Then he smiled.

-There... now it's official! It was my mother's favourite ring... and I kept it with me to think of her. But now... I want you to wear it. It matches your eyes.

He stared into his fiancée's eyes and suddenly noticed that they were shining brightly.

She hugged him.

-Hannon him, Legolas.

Legolas smiled and kissed Elenwë's cheek before saying:

-I will leave you... rest well... Losto mae..

-Losto mae.. Legolas..

Legolas left the room and Elenwë, a little stunned, sat down on the bed.

She raised her hand to her lips and smiled a little stupidly.

She looked at her ring and thought that she was the happiest sheth in Arda.

Eventually she fell asleep, exhausted.

Legolas joined his companions and Aragorn noticed the slight flush on his cheeks.

-How is Elenwë? he asked teasingly.

Gimli laughed unobtrusively and Legolas stammered:

-I... I gave her... the ring...

He smiled as he saw the amused looks of his companions.

He put on an angry face and threw a pillow at their heads.

They laughed and Legolas continued:

-She is officially my bride now.

He smiled blankly and his two friends looked at each other with a big smile on their faces.

Legolas sighed and lay down.

-You're making me tired... well... good night!

The two friends laughed and fell asleep in turn.
