Chapter 13 : Elvish reinforcements

Elenwë blinked her eyelids and woke up. She heard the sound of an elven horn that she knew well.

It was the sound of Haldir's legion, she was sure of it!

She shook her head. But where was it?

A smell she knew was coming up her nostrils.

The smell of... Legolas?

Elenwë racked her brains. Legolas... he had talked to her and then... knocked her out.

Elenwë got up and rushed to the door.

It was locked. She was locked in. Legolas had knocked her out and locked her in.

"What a... rotten thing! The bastard will pay for this!"

In a fit of rage, Elenwë kicked the door in.

Not only was it useless, but she moaned, having hurt herself.

— LEGOLAS!

No answer.

— OPEN ME UP!

Silence.

— OHO! IS ANYONE THERE?

Still silence.

She was fulminating. Her sword had been taken from her. She was locked up and Legolas... Legolas she trusted had trapped her!

She banged her fists on the door.

How could he dare?

At last she calmed down after a while.

Outside she heard the din of the Orc army coming.

Then... silence.

The lack of noise was driving her crazy!

She perceived the instructions that Aragorn was shouting, both in Elvish and in common swaddling clothes.

Then a loud noise.

Orcs were attacking.

Elenwë heard the cries of the warriors.

She could hear the ladders hanging from the wall.

She heard the count of Gimli and Legolas.

"He has enough energy to count his victims! He's going to be very sorry when I get out of here!"

After about an hour, Elenwë felt a tremor in the building, followed by an explosion.

The wall? The wall had given way?

Knocks could be heard on the door leaf.

Trembling, Elenwë thought she was an easy target, isolated and unarmed.

My door gave way and Elenwë barely held back a scream of terror.

From a distance Legolas watched the building where he had deposited the young elf.

He was preoccupied by a large killer whale carrying a torch.

Aragorn shouted at him to shoot him, but he did not die despite the four arrows the elf shot into his body.

Suddenly an explosion took place and he was thrown backwards.

The wall... had exploded?

Legolas looked for his friends.

Then he saw a troll break through the door of the place where Elenwë was standing.

He said: "Oh... Almighty Valars... But what have I done? She is alone and unarmed! If she dies, it will be my fault!"

Elenwë saw the troll approaching. Suddenly she had an idea.

The body contained a lot of water, didn't it?

She reached out her hand and ordered the water in the troll's body to come out violently.

It worked.

When Elenwë opened her eyes again, she was covered with a gut strap.

Feeling particularly nauseous, she stood up and jumped out of the room.

Legolas saw Elenwë hurried out of the room, covered in blood.
His own?

His heart panicked.

She looked up and, seeing him, walked towards him.

— I hate you, I hate you! Know it! she said to him in Elvish.

Legolas answered nothing, petrified at the young elf's anger.

She grabbed her sword, which was still on Legolas' belt, with violence.

She stopped for a moment and looked him in the eyes.

Her grey eyes, usually so soft and sparkling with happiness, hardened and appeared to the prince black as ebony.

Legolas swallowed with difficulty. Now he was afraid of her!

Then she jumped away from him, exterminating all the orcas in her path.

She caught a glimpse of her former "tutor", Haldir, out of the corner of her eye.

He seemed to be in a bad way.

The killer whale he was fighting with hit him in the calf with a sword.

Weakened, Haldir wavered and found himself on his knees with his back to his attacker.

Elenwë's blood was only a trick.

She jumped on the head of the nearest killer whale and leapt from head to head until she was level with Haldir.

She jumped between him and her opponent, blocking the enemy's blade.

She gutted him without further ado.

Turning to Haldir she said:

— Mellon amin, Haldir, pan mae? (My friend, Haldir, is everything all right?)

— Mae, Elenwë, Hannon the... Im harnannen. (Yes, Elenwë, thank you. I am wounded.)

— Cenin... (I see him...)

Elenwë helped Haldir to take refuge inside, ordering him not to move from there.

She erected an impassable water barrier in front of his astonished eyes to protect him.

Whispering an incantation, she put Haldir to sleep.

She turned away from him and returned to fight.
