Five Camels

                                                                             Back At Evelyn's Cabin

Evelyn had just gotten dressed in a simple black nightgown to sleep in. She walked over to a mirror on the wall and let her long brown hair down. She sighed, feeling her headache from how long she had it up in a tight ponytail. Evy shook her head to loosen her curls and let them fall over her shoulders. Soon as she turned around she was met with a man dressed in black. It was the Medjai that had the hook for a hand! He looked at her menacingly and pointed the hook at her ready to strike.

"Where is the map!?" he asked and all Evy could do was stutter in fear and look at the sharp hook in front of her and back at the scary-looking man. She backed up slightly but he followed. She gazed at the table to see the map was where she left it. Sitting there face open near a flickering candle. She looked back at her attacker who looked to be growing impatient with her. "And the key. Where is the key?" he asked, Evy looked confused at the question. She had no key, only the map. With a small shake of her head she replied "key? What key?" she was terrified when the hooked man simply grinned. "I'll just have to find it myself," he said and swung his hook back ready to slash her to pieces. Evy gasped and ran back to try to get away from him.

And just like that, there was a bang and the door to Evy's room was kicked open! It was Rick. Holding a gun in each hand, he was about to shoot the guy but then Hook grabbed Evy to use her as a shield. Putting his hook on her neck. Evy cried out in shock and fear. "This is a friend of yours?" He asked her and she scoffed "Not now mister O'Connell, help me!" she said and the guy held her tighter, she winced. It then happened all so quickly. The window shatters and another Madjai busts in with guns, shooting blindly in the room. Rick doges and nearly misses being hit by a bullet that lodged into the wall near him. He fired his guns back and killed the Madjai. There is a lantern in the room that gets hit in the crossfire splashing kerosene on the wall. With just a small spark it burst into wild flames. It distracts Hook, giving enough time for Evelyn to grab the candle on the table and jab it into his eye. He screamed in pain, letting her go. Rick was fast and grabbed her, getting her out of the flaming room. They cross paths with Rosie as she was just about to see if her sister was ok, hearing the gunshots from her own room. "What's going on are you ok!?" she asked and checked Evy for any cuts or injuries. Evy ignored her and pushed Rick's hand off her so they could stop walking. "The map! We left the map!" Rick rolled his eyes and grabbed her again by the waist like she weighed nothing but air. "Relax, I'm the map. It's up in my brain, remember?" she smacked his arms and he let her go. "Oh well that's comforting, and don't grab me like that again!" she said and glared at him. Rosie looked lost and then saw the flames wrapping around the hallway. "Look there are some guys looking for us, they tried to kill us in Evy's room, we gotta go" Rick explained. She had her own gun in her hand and made sure to stay on alert.

Meanwhile back in Evelyn's room, Hook was still alive, holding his injured face and struggling to get to the door. He notices the key on the floor. With a grin, he bends down to pick it up. And that is when the door is suddenly kicked open again, hitting him square on the ass. He fell forwards into the flames. None other than our precious golden boy Johnathan poked his head in looking around, seeing nothing but flames and unaware of the man he pushed into the fire. "Evy!?" he yelled, looking for his baby sister, but then saw the small key/box on the floor. He went to grab it but was beaten to it by a burnt hand. "Hey, that's mine--oh!" It was Hook! It was like nothing would kill this guy. His backside was now on fire. He lifted his pistol that he somehow still had on his person and pointed it at Johnathan. Jonathan backpedaled as Hook opened fire on him. All the while Evy, Rick, and Rosie were near the horse stalls. Another Medjai started firing at them and almost hit Evy. Rosie raised her gun and shot at him. Then an idea popped into her brilliant mind. She shot the padlock on the stables and then shot another bullet in the air. The horses were scared and crashed into the door, bursting it open and stampeded towards the enemy! He cried out as he was trampled. Rick looked impressed and Evy just looked grossed out at the sight.

The flames started to grow around the boat. "Not good, we gotta go guys!" Rosie said as she looked at the boat that was half on fire. Rick took his gunny sack and threw it on his shoulder. "Can you guys swim?" he asked as he walked to the railing of the boat. "Well, when the occasion calls for it-" Evy was cut off by rick picking her up again. "Trust me then," he said and threw her over the boat and into the water. Rosie watched and then the two remaining looked at each other. "Mm-mm no you are not throwing me, O'Connell, if you throw me I will make sure you will never walk again-" Rick rolled his eyes and grabbed her too. "No-I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL SHAVE YOUR EYEBROWS OFF WHEN YOU ARE ASLEEP- FUUC-" and he tossed her in, she hit the water with a splash cutting off her sentence. "Note to self, sleep with one eye open," Rick said to himself. The dives into the water after her. Jonathan was still on the boat watching the Americans shooting at everything they saw, not sure if they were blind or just didn't know where to shoot. They waved their guns around and Johnathan scoffed. "Americans," he said and shook his head. His old buddy Hook stumbles behind him now looking like a flaming torch. The hooked man grabbed Johnathan by the neck and pinned him to the cabin wall. John's eyes widened as he saw hooks' flamed arm raise up to strike him. But just then Daniels pivoted and shot Hook straight on. Causing him to stumble back and fall into the water. John straightened his coat and smiled, "I say! Good show!" he said and gave Daniels a big thumbs up. Now he was just mostly talking to himself. "And did I panic?" he asked as he held up the key in his hand proudly. "I think bloody not!" and then he jumped seeing the horses running towards him! He then proceeded to panic looking around then seeing his only option. He jumped overboard, joining Rick and Evy. While the Americans and Beni jumped over the other side of the boat. Everyone abandoned the ship and wadded up to the side of the river. Their clothes cling to their bodies. Evy tried her best to wring it out. Rick eyes her seeing how the nightgown clung to her body. Rosie intercepts his view with a glare and makes a motion pointing at her eyes then at him. Her hair is now ruined and all over the place. She was pissed. Not to mention she was also wearing a nightgown similar to Evy's. She crossed her arms over her chest, shaking like a leaf. "Oh, I can't believe this! All our equipment is gone! My clothes too! Oh, my clothes! What are we going to do Rosie?" Evy said and looked at her. "We can head to the nearest village and get some stuff there, it's gonna be ok.." she said. She was always the one to soothe Evy's worries. Even when they were children. Evy nodded but still looked upset. Who wouldn't? Their attention was caught by a shrill squawking sound coming from the other side of the river. It was Beni, he was holding the leads to the horses. "Hey! Hey O'Connell! Looks to me like I've got all the horses!" he yelled in a taunting tone. Rick frowned a bit and then said back in the same tone. "Hey, Beni! Looks to me like you're on the wrong side of the river!" Rosie snorted and laughed at that. Beni looked up at the stars and then cursed, kicking the sand. As our adventurers head to find a village to make camp at, the flaming boat slowly starts to pass them and sink into the river. Rosie pouted a bit watching the boat. "That was my favorite bow-compass.." she said and Johnathan patted her shoulder and then pulled her along "Come on ol mum we gotta catch up like you said it's going to be fine," he said. Even though Johnathan was a jerk, he could have his moments. Rosie walked with him and caught up with Evy and Rick. They made it to a trading post and stayed there for the night. The next day Evy and Rosie went to buy new clothes to wear instead of their dirty nightgowns. While the dresses they had were gorgeous, Rosie wasn't at all thrilled to have to wear one in the scorching desert. Evy picked out a black one with a matching veil. While Rosie picked out one that was mostly red she put on the red veil too after attempting to fix her hair. Evy assured her that it was fine but Rosie shook her head and kept trying to fix it. Her curls came back slowly the more she tried to fix it. Soon after two hours of fixing she gave up and soon joined Evy. They walked back to the other two who were busy trying to get some camels. "NO i just want five- just the five not the bloody herd!" Johnathan told the seller and then when he finally got them he sighed. "I can't believe the price of these fleabags." Rick shrugged "Could have got them for free, all we had to do is give em one of your sisters." John replied back with sarcasm dripping from his voice, "Yes, awfully tempting isn't it?" O'connell Agreed. "Awfully, but then again" he trailed off when he saw the two ladies trailing down to them, smiling and giggling at something. Rick's eyes never left Evy. sure he did admire Rosie but he was hooked on Evy. Evy simply smiled back at him. Rosie could tell they liked each other. You would have to be stupid to not be able to. Johnathan walked up to her as evy went to the camel to pet it. Rick is still looking at her. He whispered to Rosie, looking puzzled. "What's going on with them?" Rosie rolled her eyes "you'll figure it out" she replied and laughed. Johnathan remained confused as ever.

                                                 The Sahara Desert-Sand Dunes-

The day felt like it was never going to end as Evy, Rick, Johnathan, Rosie and the Warden trudged on their Camels. Smack dab in the middle of the Sahara desert. The heat was killing them all. Rosie rode her camel next to Rick's and took her veil off, exposing all of her curly hair. It was beautiful, Rick looked to the side to see her fix her hair. That was something he always found beautiful about her, she was just so effortlessly perfect but she never seemed to think so which annoyed him. Back when they were a thing Rick would always try to convince her. She looked like a goddess. HE wanted to tell her out of pure habit but then stopped himself, remembering that they were starting over as friends. He looked back ahead of him and trudged on. Johnathan looked at his own camel in disgust. "Never liked camels. Filthy buggers. They smell, they bite, they spit. Disgusting." he said. While Rick watches the Warden attack a chicken wing savagely. Biting into it and spitting out some of the bones, flies buzzing around his head. "Yeah..disgusting" Rick muttered. While Evy was practically having the greatest time on her camel. She smiled and pet the back of her camel that she decided to name Bob. "Well, I think they are rather cute!".

Time passed on as they traveled to the lost city. As night comes, the moon shines down onto the riders. All of them are asleep but two. Johnathan snored softly, his head bobbing to the rhythm of his camel walking. On the camel next to him the warden snores loudly, Jonathan woke up from the sound of his snoring and made a face. He then looked around to see who was watching. No one. Then he took his horsetail fly swatter and swatted the warden with it, making the warden jump and turn quiet. Jonathan then went back to sleep. Evy was slowly starting to slide off of her saddle when Rick stopped her and pushed her back on, without waking her up. He watched her sleep and then looked to the rising dunes to the side. There were Madjai sitting on their horses watching them. Rosie had seen them too and moved up to Rick. "You don't think they will attack, do you?" she asked Rick. Rick shook his head. "No.." Rosie hummed in thought. "What makes you so sure?" She countered. "Just a feeling," he said. Rosie huffed. Just a feeling...she looked back at the dunes to see they disappeared. Rosie felt chills go up her spine and she shook them out. Looking at the stars and the moon. A sudden voice echoed in her head. 'The god of the moon will always be there for you Satiah, you just need to say the words. Rosie shook her head and looked a little frightened at the voice she had heard, it was a female voice. One that sounded familiar but for some reason she didn't know why it was familiar. Maybe she was just getting tired. She rubbed her eyes and sighed.

Soon it was the next day. Rosie felt like she was ready to hit both of the idiots who were fighting behind her. "And you snore!" Johnathan yelled. "I do not snore!!" yelled the warden. The bickering went on and on. Rosie rode up to Evy and Rick. "Are we almost there? Any more of this and I'm about to knock them out" Rosie said. Rick looked down at the sand and said "Almost there". Rosie looked confused at why he was looking there. "Are you sure?" she asked and he nodded. "Pretty sure, look," he said and pointed down. Rosie looked down and saw old skeletons peeking out of the sand as if they were trying to escape it. Rosie grimaced and looked away while the others looked in fear. "What in the bloody hell is that?" Jonathan asked. The warden looked on in fear, replying "Other seekers of Hamunaptra". They soon had the American expedition join them. The Americans were accompanied with two dozen diggers, an egyptologist and of course, Beni. "Good Morning my friend!" Beni greeted O'Connell with a smile on his face. Rick just nodded and kept looking at the endless horizon in front of him. Beni does the same. The Americans watched them and looked confused. ''Well, what the hell are we doin'?" Daniels asked. Beni raised a hand gently, "Patience my good sahib, patience.". Henderson looked over to Rick and called out "First one to the city, O'Connell! Five hundred! Cash Bucks!!". Beni and Rick kept looking, looking for the sign. The three siblings share a look, suddenly the sun begins to rise in the distance, breaking the flat horizon. "Get ready," Rick said. The four grab their reins and get ready to set out on Rick's word. Rosie was sure as hell not letting an American win that five hundred dollars.
