Dylan was not having the best of times. Yes, he loved being able to travel around the world, see and experience new things, it he felt awfully lonely. After, Hogwarts he never really saw any of his friends, they were off loving their lives, making new friends, getting married, some even had kids! But for Dylan, he was a lone wolf!
He never stayed in one place for too long and did not express any interest in settling down with a bunch of friends or even getting into a relationship. Instead, he scoured cities, countries and continents for inspiration for his writing which was very successful but the belonged to be with Asa, his best friend.
To Dylan, Asa was his rock. Dylan never got on with his adoptive parents and Asa was always there to keep him sane and cheer him up. When they departed each other, he might not have shown it but his world had been flipped upside down. He was a mess for months post their separation and it seemed as if he would never see Asa again. Yet, after a long, hard ponder and arguments upon arguments with himself, he came to the conclusion that his next destination would be Asa's arms - hopefully.
After months of travelling (he had taken short breaks between each place), Dylan returned to his childhood home. Katherine and Eugene, his adoptive parents, were at work so rifling through his Things was much easier because of the lack of distractions from them. He searched and searched for old letters which could potentially hold Asa's Egyptian address. It took a while but he found one lonely, browsing letter from Asa which was crumpled and tucked in the back of his empty underwear drawer. Fortunately it was still legible.
Hoping and praying that the address was still the same, he stuffed the letter into the pocket of his jeans and ran downstairs to his bags. As he skipped the last few stairs and grabbed his bags and fell to the ground. Goddamn it!
He pushed himself up rubbing his side backside and with a loud crack! He dissapparated. Dylan was sucked into a tight tube, his mind transfixed on the address in Asa's messy scrawl. Whooshing past his eyes many buildings, fields and land past by until he dropped down, the tube coming to an end.
His feet landed on a plush, cushion- like object which was far from helpful for his balance. Dylan teetered and fell, his body colliding with the floor. Groaning, he thanked his backpack for saving his back but wished he hadn't had landed on his side.
Suddenly, a night light shone in his eyes and something heavy knocked the air from his lungs. "Gawd, bugger me!" He grumbled laying back, clutching his stomach and clenching his eyes shut.
"Dylan?"
The blonde boy's eyes shot open at the sound of the familiar soft voice. Above him stood Asa, his flopping brunette hair a mess and the top half of his body was bare as he stood tiredly with his wand outstretched in front of him and a mop in his other hand. Clearly, that was what had winded him.
The blonde boy nodded his head, "thanks for the warm welcome, Ace, glad to see you too."
Asa wipes his eyes, throwing the mop towards the kitchen where it collided with the floor. He crouched down beside Dylan and helped sit him up as he whined from the pain of his side. "Sorry, I just didn't expect to have anyone turn up at my house, let alone you."
Dylan chuckled softly, "surprise."
Asa couldn't help but smile as his best friend wrapped his arms around him. He laid his head on Dylan's shoulder as they stayed in each others' arms for a while. He sighed in content and pulled back gently lifting up Dylan's shirt and seeing the bright red mark he had made.
"I'm so sorry, Dyls," he told him.
Dylan pushes Asa's hand from his stomach, "it's fine, I should have just knocked the door, instead of dropping in unannounced, literally."
"No, shut it, I'm glad you're here! I haven't seen you in years and I've bloody missed you." Asa exclaimed, "and the first thing I do is whack the living shite out you."
"Yes but-"
"No buts! Now come on, its seven am, I'll make some food." Asa hauled Dylan from the ground and onto his feet.
Asa pushed Dylan's backpack off of his shoulders and put the bags by the stairs. He entered the kitchen and put some bacon on to fry before returning to Dylan and hugging him once more.
"I've really missed you, Dyl," he told the blonde once more.
"Don't be soft!...nah I'm only kidding, I've missed you too. I like your place though!" Dylan looked around. "Very...you."
"Thank you, I tried my best. So um, why exactly are you here?"
Dylan froze.
Uh oh.
