Beneath the veil of stars, a single heartbeat echoed through the darkness. She was his world, the light piercing through his shadowy existence. Yet he could never have imagined she'd be the one to bring the world to its knees.

As he stood in the desolate sands of the Divine Lands, the moonlight beamed, spilling its light over the two pyramids standing in the distance.

He remembered the night he first brought her to see the pyramids. They had been so young then, with nothing but the stars above and the wild desert winds around them. Anticipation hung thick in the air as he led her through the sands, his heart pounding in his chest.

This was meant to be the night he told her, to finally speak the words he had held back for so long. But fear crept in, stealing his voice. Instead, he pointed to the silhouettes rising against the starlit sky, his voice barely holding his emotions in check.

"Look," he whispered. "These are for us."

Her eyes had widened in wonder, catching the brilliance of the stars as they shimmered in the night. In that moment, he felt seen, truly seen, by the only being in the universe who looked past his flaws.

She was the light that kept the darkness from swallowing him whole. The one soul who dared to draw close to him, unafraid of what lay within.

Before her, he had been nothing—powerful, yes, but hollow, and alone in a way only gods could be. She was the one who brought him back to life, showing him a world beyond being a god. She never looked at him with fear, only love...only hope.

"They're beautiful," she whispered.

Her words filled him with a warmth that made him feel invincible.

That night, they had chased each other around the pyramids, their laughter rising into the air like a melody spun from the heavens. They climbed to the top and danced, fingers entwined, hearts racing from the simple joy of being together.

From the summit, they looked out over the Divine Lands, a realm crafted by the gods themselves to guard the human world. In that moment, with the world stretched beneath them and the universe above, everything felt as it should be. They were just two free souls, charmed by one another.

Then he had turned to her, the words he'd long held close finally spilling forth. He had built these pyramids as a token of his devotion. But his dreams went further...deeper—he wanted her by his side, to rule this realm together. These pyramids were not merely gifts; they were meant to be their thrones. He yearned for them to live as the ancient gods once had. Ruling alongside their people.

"Together, we will rule over this land," he had said, caught up in a vision of a future where they would stand side by side. "Just think of it! We could create a paradise here, free from the chaos of the world."

But at the time, there was something he hadn't noticed. Shadows lingered at the edges of their bonds. He hadn't noticed it then. How could he? He had been blinded by affection and the lovely goddesses' beauty.

They played in the moonlight chasing dreams without knowing the gods who created them had spun their fates and sadly their love would never be meant for one another.

"Do you promise?" she had asked, her voice soft, a hint of uncertainty creeping into her words. "To always be by my side?"

"Always," he had vowed, his gaze fierce with devotion. In that moment, he believed with all his heart that together they could withstand any storm.

But over time, doubt began to creep into his soul. The darkness whispered to him, and memories of their joy clashed violently with the brutal reality he now faced.

The painful truth settled over him like ash. She had never been his to claim. She had been crafted, not from love, but from necessity—a creation born to save him from himself. She was made to be his light, to guide him, to keep the darkness within him at bay. The gods had placed her in his path.

A growl of frustration tore from his throat as he stepped forward, fists clenched, and rage surging through every vein. The anger coiled and snapped within him, igniting the darkness he had once kept at bay.

With a single motion, he raised his hands, and shadows poured out, spilling out like smoke into the night. They slithered over the dunes, advancing toward the pyramids that loomed in the distance, their forms twisting and writhing as if alive, charged by his fury.

He was the God of Darkness, and he would be contained no longer. Power crackled in the air around him as the ground itself trembled beneath his feet. The night bent to his will, and in that moment, he knew he would unleash his wrath upon the world. He would not allow the remnants of his love for her to mock him any longer.

With a final surge of power, the shadows engulfed the pyramids, consuming them in a torrent of darkness. He watched as they sank into the ground, swallowed whole by the very earth they had been built upon. The sound of crumbling stone and shifting sand echoed in his ears, a haunting melody that mingled with the memories of laughter.

"Why did you betray me?" he whispered to the night, as if expecting an answer. In that moment he felt a mixture of both triumph and despair. He had destroyed the symbols of a love that had betrayed him, yet in doing so, he had severed the last connection to her.

As the last fragments of the pyramids vanished, the desert fell silent. He stood alone, surrounded by nothing but darkness and sand. The weight of his actions slowly began to crash over him, leaving him gasping for breath. What had he done?

The truth echoed in his mind ever louder. It was a cold reminder that he had sacrificed everything for a fleeting moment of anger. The darkness now consumed him, suffocating him like a noose around his neck.

The chilling wind swept through the desert, carrying whispers of the past, memories that clawed at his heart. The stars blinked down at him, their indifferent light almost mocking him. He felt a profound loneliness wash over him.

The sands whispered secrets he could no longer hear, and the winds carried away the remnants of laughter, leaving only silence in their wake. He was left with nothing but the memory of her smile, the touch of her hand, and the promise of a future that would never happen.

As he turned away from the now-empty space where the pyramids once stood, he felt the weight of his darkness settle around him. His heart, once filled with light, was now a void, an abyss that would never know warmth again.

But before he could unleash the full extent of his wrath upon the world, the air around him shimmered, a distortion that sent a chill down his spine. The gods descended from the heavens, casting a celestial light over the barren desert. They had come to stop him, to quell the darkness he was about to unleash.

"Do not let your pain consume you," one of them urged, their voice echoing with authority. "You cannot seek vengeance against those who have not wronged you. To strike out at the world is to strike out at yourself."

Fury surged within him, boiling over like a tempest. "I will not be bound by your words! I will put you to eternal rest!" he roared, darkness swirling violently around him, ready to engulf them. His heart pounded in his chest, the adrenaline surging as he prepared to unleash his wrath.

The gods exchanged glances, their expressions a mixture of concern. "You are blinded by your anger," another god replied, their tone calm yet firm. "We can help you find peace, but you must first let go of this hatred."

"Help?" he spat, bitterness lacing his words. "You are the ones who created this tragedy! You crafted her to control me, and now you wish to stop me?"

But one god, wise and all-knowing, foresaw his intent. "You seek to end us, but it is you who shall be imprisoned," they declared, their voice rising above the chaos.

With a wave of their hand, they cast a powerful spell that wrapped around him like chains.

He felt his essence being drawn away, his strength fading. The shadows that had once been his allies now turned against him, binding him in a cocoon of eternal slumber. As the world around him dimmed, he struggled, rage and despair consuming him.
