Prologue: Backstory, Tragedy and Birth Warning: First ever story, really bad!
Warning: This is going to be a LONG prologue
It was just a normal day in Los Angeles, California for the Stein couple, they lived in a nice house, no they are not filthy rich and stuck up people, but are nice, friendly and middle-class. They got married only 2 years ago, both with beautiful wedding rings on their ring fingers.
The red-haired women wanted a child and so did the husband so they had sex, but when the wife took a pregnancy test.... it was a negative. The green-eyed women cried in their bedroom, her blonde-haired husband next to her, shedding a few tears as well, they both wanted a child but to find out they lost it.... was just heartbreaking.
"I'm so sorry, Carla, my love, I thought we would get a child of our own, but we will keep trying till we get what we want, and that's a promise I will never break," he cooed into Carla's ear, making the younger women blush and hide her red and tear-streaked face in his broad chest, making him chuckle quietly. He wrapped his arms around her waist protectively and kissed her forehead, whispering, "I love you soo much, Carla, my sweet, we will have a child someday, goodnight" and they both fell asleep with smiles on their faces.
Another year passes by, Carla and her husband are still trying to have a child, but none of their attempts worked, until that cursed day, where both of their lives changed forever. It was October 31st, 1991, Carla and her husband, now known as David, were driving in their car to buy halloween candy when all of a sudden they heard a horn and a crashing sound before everything went black. When Carla opened her eyes, she felt pain in her left leg and blood running down her forehead from a large gash across it.
She looked around and found that she was inside her and David's car, upside down and she whisper-yelled, " David, dear, where are you...?" She looked around for her husband until she saw him outside of the car, face-down on the road, not moving. Her eyes widened and tears started falling down her face, whispering, "N-no, D-David, you can't be dead, you can't, we wanted to have a child together, right? You promised me that we would get what we want someday, but now.... You can't die on me, not now, now ever! I need you, your friends and family need you, our future baby needs you!!Please, PLEASE WAKE UP!!!!" Carla yelled, tears now streaming down her face, she cried for 10 minutes before she stopped, realizing that she had no more tears to shed and looked towards David again, his body still not moving from it's spot, the back of his head not bleeding anymore but still crusted with blood.
In her head, she was screaming, " NO!!!!!! HE'S DEAD, HE CAN'T BE!! I NEED HIM, OUR FUTURE CHILD NEEDS HIM!!!! DAVID!!!!." Carla on the outside was emotionless, her eyes still red and puffy from crying, ignoring the pain in her leg, all she cared about was her now dead husband laying only a few feet away from her. She suddenly heard sirens in the distance and smiled toward David, saying, " We... are getting help, my love.... The ambulance will come soon, I promise, please.... If you are still alive, keep holding on..... for me... for our.... child......" She saw black dots in her vision along with more tears and blurry red, black, blue and flashy figures coming closer to her. She softly smiled before passing out.
When she woke up, she saw blinding light, making her squint her eyes till they adjusted and looked around to see that she was in a hospital bed, sunlight filling up the room. The door opened, revealing a nurse, her clicking heels coming towards her, the nurse smiled gently at Carla, saying, " Good afternoon Mrs. Stein, I see you are awake how are you feeling?."
Carla looked at her with a blank face and questioned, "What am I doing here, nurse and where is my husband?." The nurse suddenly frowned, eyebrows furrowing in sadness, eyes holding pity, remorse and sympathy. "I'm so sorry Mrs. Stein, your husband passed away peacefully at 4:00 pm due to his head injury, it was too severe and we had to cut life support, again we are very sorry for your loss, I will give you some time alone and you should inform his loved ones about this, the phone is beside you. I hope you have a better day tomorrow." The nurse left the room, leaving poor Carla to stare at her bed sheets, fists clenching them tightly, tears once again falling down her face rapidly, repeating "David" over and over again till she fell asleep.
For the next couple of days since David's death, Carla stayed in the hospital for checkups, not once answering any of the doctor's questions, once lively green eyes now dull and almost lifeless, red hair messy and full of knots. She done almost all of the checkups, except one..... Pregnancy test. When the nurse came to check up on her again, Carla asked, " Can I take a pregnancy test or a ultrasound today?." The nurse eyes widened, surprised that Carla asked such a question so soon after her husband's passing but nonetheless agreed to let her take a ultrasound and pregnancy test. Carla went into the bathroom and peed on the stick and waited till the lines showed up and when they did, Carla's green eyes burned brightly like they did before the incident with tears, crying out happily, "David we did it!! We have a child now, aren't you proud of us? I bet your smiling from heaven right now, watching over everyone with a soft smile on your handsome face I love you so much, my love, please watch over me and the baby, I beg you.." She walked out and layed on the bed, waiting for the ultrasound to begin and the nurse walked over with a soft smile on her face, asking, "You ready, Ms. Stein?."
"Y-yes, nurse." The nurse smiled once again "Please, call me Emily." Carla gave her a smile back, "Okay Emily, yes I am ready." Emily smeared the gel across Carla's belly and moved around the small device, on the screen they both saw a tiny figure there, slightly moving around, making Carla softly smile, " My baby, my baby..." she kept repeating to herself and asked Emily to stop or she will cry again. Emily congratulated her and left the room happily, leaving Carla to rub her slightly plump stomach gently and lovingly, whispering, " Hey there baby, it's me, your mother, your dad might not be with us right now, but he will always live on in our hearts and I know that if he was hear right now, he would say something similar to this but much more cheesily." She laughed quietly to herself and fell asleep with a smile on her face.
A few years later on April 9th, 1995, Carla was in the hospital once again, but this time was because....... THE BABY WAS COMING!!!!! ( sorry I had to). She was screaming in pain, pushing harder and harder, the nurses comforting and encouraging her to keep going till she gave one last push and a baby's cry was heard. A few minutes later , Emily came back with a baby wrapped in a pink blanket, meaning the baby was a girl and gave her to her mom, leaving the room along with everybody else. Carla looked down at the little baby girl in her arms, smiling softly at her daughter with happy tears falling down her face and kissed the baby' s forehead gently and held her close to her chest lovingly and protectively, whispering to her, " I'll name you Molly, Molly Stein, my little baby girl, I will always protect you from anyone and everything that will or try to hurt you. I love you sooo much and so does daddy, goodness you look just like him, tufts of his blonde hair on your little head, maybe you'll have his blue eyes or my green ones, either way works because I will love you no matter what you look or act like when you get older. Okay, that's enough talking for today baby, for now lets take a nap together, goodnig- wait it's the afternoon, well good afternoon my little Molly."
Carla held Molly to her chest again while chuckling and fell asleep.
