Into the mind
So Night had been living with Shadow and Shadow's mother for a few months now. However there was one problem: Shadow appeared to be a bit depressed, and he'd often go into the forest and not allow Night to come with him whenever he went into the forest, this is where we return.
"Why do you always go by yourself?" Night asked. Shadow froze, he never thought Night would ask him that, so Shadow was not prepared with an answer to that. Shadow started to recall memories of what happened that one dreadful day that he'd never spoken of ever since he explained to his mother about what had happened the same day Night came to live with them. "B-because. I just want to just be left alone when I go into the forest." Shadow responded reluctantly. "But why?" Night pestered, looking for a specific reason. "Just accept my wants and stop pestering me about it!" Shadow snapped, running off into the woods.
Dammit! Why! I thought I could lock those memories away forever.....why must they come rushing back at me like a waterfall? Shadow thought. He walked through the woods, unable to do anything but recall those memories. Those stupid salandit...If I ever run into them again, they will not survive.....and that cliffside..... Shadow was lost in his mind and he ended up smacking his face on a wall, but something strange happened, upon doing so a part of the wall fell and revealed a door-like hole. He went in and then something sharp poked his side. "Ow!" He exclaimed. The lights started turning on one by one. Some sort of holo-screen appeared and showed those transverse waves.
"DNA sample scanned; creature: pokémon; evolution: Umbreon; name: Shadow. Welcome, Shadow. All former authority figures deceased, transferring authorization. Done." The computer said. "Sharing all files via neural links." It finished. Shadow was left confused as to what happened or what was even going on, but at the same time he didn't want to bother trying to find out. "Computer..." Shadow said. "Uh, will this place ever end up getting found by anyone else, and what'll happen if they do?" Shadow asked. "Statistically, there is a 0 percent chance of anyone finding this place, but if someone does the base will perform a lockdown, unless you have given access to them."
The computer replied. "So when I leave, will that hole in the wall close back up?" Shadow asked. "Unless you specify otherwise, it will shut and lock, until you return," the computer replied. "Ok then, that'll be all for now then." Shadow said before leaving. "If you need me, just call..." the computer said, powering down. Shadow then left the base and headed back home. While he was walking home he noticed it had become night so he went from normal walking into a sprint towards home. "Where have you been?" Night asked, scaring Shadow. "Wandering around the forest, thinking about things, on my own, like usual." He said.
"Besides, you don't control me, and you don't need to know where I am at all times. Just leave me be, it's late and I'd rather be going to bed than staying up arguing." He finished. "Look, I don't want to lose you too. I have lost Gray, my parents, and Comet, I don't want to lose you too." Night said with melancholy in his voice. "I'm sorry I snapped, it's getting late and I'm tired. Why don't we just head home and talk in the morning?" Shadow asked. "Is that okay with you Terra?" Night asked no one in particular, "she's fine with it," he said happily, walking towards the den. "Who's Terra?" Shadow asked, confused.
"Like you said, we'll talk in the morning," Night replied, hoping that Shadow would forget. "Okay you can keep your secrets, and I will keep mine. For now..." Shadow said.
The two made it home safely and went to sleep, fall is nearing.
"I'm going to go back to the forest, don't worry, I'll try not to end up coming back late, however if I don't return till the morning then panic." Shadow said. "Don't return to the base, that thing is a death trap" Night said in a mysterious tone. "What the-! How the hell do you know about that place?! How the hell do you even know I went there?! I never even told you or my mother!" Shadow demanded. "Know what?" Night asked, voice returning to normal. "What do you mean 'know what'?! You just talked to me about something. How do you not remember?!" Shadow pressed. "I don't know what you're talking about," Night said, scared.
"Hmm." Shadow said, narrowing his eyes in skepticism. "I don't believe you." Shadow said, still looking at Night fully intending to be skeptic, and ensuring Night knew it. "Not now, Terra." Night said, randomly. "And who the hell is Terra?!" Shadow demanded. "Uhh, here" Night said, slamming his paw into the ground. "Don't try to confuse me with random sentences, tell me who the hell is Terra!" Shadow pressed, one way or another he was intent on getting the truth out of Night, even if he had to force it. "Well lets see, maybe me," a voice said behind Shadow. "About time Terra, anyway I'm going to work. See ya" Night said.
"Terra you know what to do after you're done here, right?" Night said. "yes Night," Terra said, sweetly. Shadow hadn't realized he'd fallen back to sleep. "So how do you know?" Shadow asked. "Well, I felt the computer come online. And the sample she took matched yours so, yeah. That is how I know." Terra said simply. "Anything else?" she asked Shadow. "No, well, one question actually. What is your connection with Night?" Shadow asked. "That is best left for another time," Terra responded. "Anyway i should return to Night." she said the dream falling apart. Shadow awoke with a start. "Shadow?" Night called, worried. "What happened?" Shadow asked.
"I was talking to you, when all of a sudden, you fell asleep for ten minutes. Also I still don't know what you are talking about 'Terra'." Night said. "Oh it was just a dream I guess, and dreams aren't real, so it's best left forgotten since there is no point in trying to decipher one because if you do it'll just get you nowhere, trust me, I've used psychic to knock myself out some time ago just out of curiosity as to what would happen. Turns out it causes some extremely weird dreams, like trippy as hell kind of dreams." Shadow explained. However, that one was different, felt different...
Then again it was just a dream so I shouldn't bother thinking about it or trying to recall it. Shadow thought to himself, not wanting to accept the fact that it could've been somewhat real, making him forget about it entirely. "are you sure you're okay? You seem off today." Night asked. "Yeah, I'm fine." Shadow replied. "Okay..." Night said, unconvinced "also, while you were asleep, it felt like something was draining my energy. Do you know what could have caused that?" Night asked. "Uh no, I don't, maybe you simply didn't get enough sleep?" Shadow suggested. "Or did you run into any grass types last night?" Shadow asked.
"No, and no, I was fine when I woke up." Night said, dropping to the floor asleep. "Night!" Shadow exclaimed. "Ok first things first, check the forehead for possible sickness. Nope, no feverish temperatures, and he was speaking normally just before passing out so I don't have to worry about the possibility for any other illnesses. But just in case, I might want to go out and grab a few berries." Shadow said to himself. "Shadow it's two in the morning, go back to your room and leave me to sleep." Night murmured. "Huh? Strange, wonder what he's dreaming about.
I should let my mom know about what happened too on my way out, just to be even more on the safe side." Shadow said to himself. "WHY AM I IN THE HALL, Shadow if this is your doing, there will be hell to pay!!!" Night yelled, waking up. "Oh you're ok, that's a relief, I almost woke mom up just to be on the safe side as well as gone out to get some berries." Shadow said. "For what?" Night asked, confused. "For you---you just passed out, out of nowhere---just in case you were sick but without any obvious symptoms, I was worried basically." Shadow explained. "Que hora es?" Night asked, still confused.
"I'm just going to pretend I understood what you just said and say okay." Shadow said. "Sorry, what time is it?" Night apologised. "Judging by where in the sky the moon is, I'd say it's about...3:00a.m." Shadow said. "Then I'm going back to bed," Night said, curling up and falling asleep. You do that, I'm going to go check out that base again, it has piqued my interest. Shadow thought to himself as he left without a sound. So he pressed that one button again and proceeded to enter the building. This time instead of taking a DNA sample like last time, he got scanned. Probably since it already has my DNA strands in its database, it only needs a scan to find my identity. He thought.
"Welcome back Shadow." The computer said. Now to get some questions answered. He thought to himself. "So when were you built, and what do I call you?" Shadow asked. "I was built ... I do not have that information, as for what to call me, call me whatever you desire." The computer said. "I'm thinking....Shade." Shadow said. "Adjusting voice based on most likelihood of gender type for that name." The computer said, "done, rebooting" it finished as all the lights in the building powered off as well as all the other tech in the building for a few moments. "Powering on..." A male sounding computerized voice said. "So, that's a thing.
Uh, what is your purpose? Or is that information classified?" Shadow asked. "One moment, relinking with the data files and authorized entities...done. Welcome, shadow, to the berserker testing facility." The computer said. The....wait...that...that name, I've heard it before..... Shadow thought as an agonizing pain washed over him as he recalled memories he had banished from his mind long ago. The memories of the torture, the experiments.....the never ending torment. He remembered, he used to have experiments done on him by the scientists that worked here.....
He remembered that he was forcefully leveled up past level 100, which is the max level in this world. He learned moves he shouldn't have been able to know to begin with.......until that one day, his father somehow managed to help him escape.....th-that's how his father died... amidst the escape, and the chaos from the humans after the alarms went off....the pain was too much for him to handle and the fear build up was extreme. "detecting high levels of fear. Welcome, Terra, to the berserker testing facility, memory override in progress... ... ...hey mom" said the computer, reverting to the old voice. Shadow lay there limp on the ground.
The pain was so high it'd blocked out his hearing, the last thing he saw was a form, some sort of non-physical being walking up to him before his vision faded.
Hehehe.....by the way thank you so much Umbreonic-nightmares for your help with this collab, there is no way in hell this page would be so good without your help, so for whoever reads this, by all means, give him a follow, it doesn't cost you anything, maybe even spread the word.
