Shadow followed behind. The door slammed shut, nearly cutting Shadow's tail in half. "Again, that was close." Shadow said, catching his breath. "So for now your mental state can hold itself together for a few hours, long enough for us to be able to talk when we get back." Lil said. Ok. Shadow responded. "So uh night, I have a question. In order for Terra to hear you do you have to speak out loud or is she able to hear your thoughts?" Shadow asked, thinking it might be different for some. "no and yes." Night answered as they walked home. "Should we tell them about---" Shadow stopped dead in his tracks, they were near the den but something felt off. "Shadow you okay?" Night asked.

"Something's wrong. It's quiet...too quiet." Shadow said, feeling like there was something off about the den. He slowly entered it and called out, "mom?! Comet?! Lilly?!" No answer. "They're gone..." Shadow said, lowering his head. But out of nowhere he passed out. "This is our only window to chat properly." Lil said. "Is this about the thing you said you'd explain later about?" Shadow asked. "Yes." She said. "Well. I've sort of...kind of...definitely, fallen in love...with you." She explained. "How does that even work? I mean...I do...sort of...feel the same way...but I'm more confused to how this works, or is even possible." Shadow said, confused.

"It's more simple if you don't try to think about it. It's very obvious that Night and Terra are in love. Since I am a part of you, I know your heart, the kind of person you are, even with your flaws, your intents behind them are always meant to do good rather than harm." She said. "What does that have anything to do with this right now? I want to know how we could possibly make any form of relationship work seeing as this is more or less the dream realm meaning nothing here is physical...and I highly doubt you'd be able to form as a physical being in the real world either." Shadow said. "Who said that this specific place had no feeling?" She said.

She reached one of her ribbons out to him and touched his shoulder. Like I was saying, anything can be what you wish your mind to make it be, unless it's within the boundaries of reality. See this dreamscape is on the border of reality and sleep, meaning anything here can have physical properties as long as you wish it to be. The mind is a powerful tool." She explained. "That is all I have to say for now." She said. I need to think of a place to create for her in my mind so she's not just stuck on an abyss of cloud-like flooring. The lab is the most apparent thing to me, maybe I can do some changes to it in my mind and make it more like a home rather than an experimental lab. He thought to himself as he woke up.

"That was bad timing for a talk." Night said as Shadow got up. "I don't want to talk about it. "Why is your face so red?" He asked. "Uh, no reason I guess, there could be many reasons, for all I know I could simply have a cold from all this passing out." Shadow said, his face reddening even more. "I know what's going on here." Night said, smileing. "Uh, maybe? Idk how that works so I don't want to focus on that at the moment. I'd rather be finding what happened to everyone. Oh by the way Night, on our way out I found this thing." He said, revealing a hexagonal shape like thing that started floating.

"Mini computer activated. Starting, importing files from the dormant facility. Done. Hello Shadow, Night, how may I help you today?" The thing said. "Huh, must be some sort of portable computer communications device (pccd for short.) This will make finding them much easier. Computer search for and track any DNA string types similar to mine and then change it to that of a sylveon and then track that instead." Shadow said. "Calculating, calculating.....7.98 miles away. Sylveon's name: Lilly, is this correct?" The computer asked. "Yes." Shadow said. "They are in a wasteland area with what appears to be the ruins of a gym stadium near the entrance of the wasteland.

There is also a large cave in the stadium." The computer responded.
"We're lucky you stumbled on this or we'd never find them." Night said. "Well finally something in relation to that place is bringing us some luck." Shadow replied. "Let's go." Night said.

A few hours later.

"I hope they're okay." Shadow said. "They will be, your sister has our mom and comet there, they'll be fine." Night said. "Yeah, you're right." Shadow replied. The two picked up the pace, "it's a few hours away yet...but I have an Idea for how we can get there quicker." Shadow said. "Yeah what's that?" Night asked. "Travel across the treetops so that we don't have to deal with any obstacles that could cause us to take that long to get there." Shadow said. After a while of jumping from tree to tree, they neared the wastelands. Night slowed down "hold on...Terra's agreeing with me, so let's go with caution..." Night whispered just loud enough for Shadow to hear.

"Why, our family is in there..." Shadow said. " they didn't come here on purpose, something dragged them here..." Nightmare interrupted. "Keen eye, but too late," someone said, "I think I'll take you out first." "Nattalie..." Night said with disdain, "so this is where you came after I rejected you? Pathetic..." "at least someone cares for me, and who do you have? No one, not one being at all." she growled. "Shadow, let me deal with her, you get the others." Nightmare said, so calm it bothered Shadow. "How can you be so calm about this?" Shadow asked. "I have a plan..." Night said, smirking. Shadow left Night to deal with the alakazam.

"Not so fast there Shadow." Someone said, but before Shadow could identify the one who said that, he was knocked out. "Shadow!" Night yelled. In a split second a being moved to Shadow and moved away, seemingly at the speed of light, the next thing Night knew, Shadow was gone too. "Alright you want to play that way, we can play that way..." Night said, before dissolving into a fine black mist, "you can run but you can't hide..." Night said in a demonic tone, then proceded to electrocute the alakazam. There was no pain for the alakazam, but she passed out anyway. "You're next, Jake..." Night said in his demonic tone.

Meanwhile.

"Ugh..where am I?" Shadow asked slowly getting up. "Welcome, Shadow." A voice said jake. Shadow thought. Lil you here still? Shadow asked. "Oh I should've mentioned, she can't hear or speak to you right now, not where you are right now. The way this room is has it where you cannot contact your anamorphic, or use its abilities." Jake said. "Just calm down. I'm sure we can work things out without fighting." Shadow said. "Calming down is the problem, if I calm down I'll end up returning to you and you'd become whole again, and I want to stay here, and the only way to do that is make sure you suffer as much as physically possible so that I can become so strong I can still survive even after I kill you." Jake explained.

"How are you going to do that?" Shadow asked. "This is how." Jake said. Two pokemon stepped out onto the platform. "Comet? Mom? So it was him who captured you...wait, something's off." Shadow said. He looked closely at their eyes, it looked as if there was nothing there. "Oh no...hypnosis." Shadow said. "Come on I don't want to fight you!" Shadow exclaimed. "Then you'll perish." Comet said with a robotic tone. So either losing a battle or a true feeling of fear will end hypnosis, or a vibrational jolt in which I can't provide. Shadow thought to himself. I got it! Fight without fighting, let the opponent fight themselves! Shadow grinned at this idea.

"So all I gotta do is let them come at me and then dodge at the last second, without landing a single hit, I can just let them stumble around me." Shadow whispered to himself. A flamethrower was shot towards Shadow. Shadow used Iron Tail to guard himself. That's right, as long as I'm near Jake my mentality should be able to hold itself together, but not as well, so I can use some good moves, just not strong moves or moves that take a lot of energy. He thought. "Jake you've forgotten, do you not realize just who you came from? You being here is only making it easier!" Shadow taunted. How about instead of calming him down I can get him so angry that he becomes calm.

Kind of like when a fuse blows. He realized this. Comet flew at Shadow with high speed. "So you're going with a Seismic Toss?" Shadow asked, easily dodging it, so instead Comet ended up ramming into the wall and falling into the lava surrounding the platform. He'll be fine, he's a fire type, so if anything that should be better for him. Shadow thought. "Now to deal with you. I remember all you've said to me within the time I've grown, all those lessons, all those teachings made by you and my father. I will not let them go to waste, I am going to save you from this hypnosis. Even if it costs me my life." Shadow said. His mother seeming to be unaffected by his words.

Aurora used Ice Beam, but thanks to his speed Shadow was able to swiftly dodge it. Then she went to use tackle in Shadow. But instead of landing the hit Shadow ducked down causing her to miss and thus tripping upon landing. Aurora kept using physical moves, only for them to miss and cause her to trip and stumble. Shadow was stalling for time at this point. Maybe I can use psychic to try contacting Night. Shadow thought. So he concentrated, still dodging the attacks. Aurora and his father had trained him too well. If it weren't for them he wouldn't be able to be concentrating on his mind while still dodging attacks easily. "Night, can you hear my thoughts?

If you can I need to warn you, in the room I'm in, you'll have absolutely no access to your anamorphic, and our mother seems to have been hypnotized as well as Comet, but as to my sister, I have no clue. Comet has fallen into some lava and my mother is trying to attack me and I can't keep dodging forever, I need some assistance over here." Shadow said in his mind, directing his psychic and his thoughts to Night, or at least attempting to. "About to be there, and I know Terra can't contact me, but I still can feel her emotions. Also I'm bringing backup. Say hi to Lilly." Night's voice said in his mind, a black mist filled the room.

"Is that you, Night?" Shadow asked Night mentaly, the mist went straight for Jake. "Ok, this is weird" Jake said, in Night's voice, "this is something i didn't know was possible..." Jake fell unconscious and started thrashing around. The mist retreated, and Jake got back up. "Can't get a hold of him. Shadow, keep him occupied while i try again" Night said in Shadow's mind, "Lilly do what you can to keep Aurora alive, and occupied" Night instructed Lilly. "On it." Lilly said, running to keep Aurora occupied. "Alright, Shadow you ready?" Night asked. "Yes." Shadow said. "However, I have an idea for how we can calm his spirit, make him so angry that he ends up becoming calm." Shadow finished.

"I think that just might work" Night said, mulling over the idea. Shadow distracted Jake, mainly with words that would usually be used to bully someone, or even what a bad guy would say. "Guys, I need help over here. Holy berry bushes, mom is strong." Lilly yelled. Half of the mist formed around Night, and he ran to protect Lilly, the other Half conjugated to form Terra. "Surprise, Mother f****r. Didn't expect to see me, did you." Terra said, still hanging in the air. Jake stared, wide eyed. "How..." was all he could manage. "Simple, this isn't where you think it is. Welcome to the dreamscape, where you have no power." Terra explained.

"How did I get here?" Jake questioned. "Well, when Night took over your body I added a fail safe to it, and someone spoke a set of words and the fail safe activated. "Remember, don't kill him, he's still a piece of Shadow's soul. You kill him and Shadow dies, or at least the one we know." Lilly said. "Speaking of which." She said bringing Shadow to the dreamscape as well. "So, how angry are you feeling?" Shadow asked, walking up to Jake. "Angry that we can beat you easily, or are you upset that you are such a weakling? Or how about you just don't want to accept the fact that you are a coward?" Shadow said.

"All anamorphics slaughtered us animonics, none of them ever stopped to think that some of us may truly have been good at heart. Some of us were truly good, but during the war, and after the war ended, they still hunted down and killed us off until we went extinct, now only circumstances would bring one of our kind back, only problem is in order for them to be able to stay, certain circumstances have to be met, the thing they came from dies without them dying. It's an extremely rare phenomenon for any of us to appear, but whenever we do, we die sooner or later. I don't mean to justify my actions, but I hope you all know this, especially you Shadow.

The only reason I'm saying this or anything like that is because I know I've lost...I'll return to Shadow and restore his soul completely. But, just make sure you prevent him from having such a big confliction again, I don't want to end up coming out again and dealing with this all over again." Jake said, knowing he'd lost. He glowed white and disappeared into Shadow as a form of pure energy. "Well...that happened, so much for my plan." Shadow said. "Honestly if it weren't for Night none of us would be in the dreamscape together at this moment." Terra said. "Heheh, yeah." Shadow chuckled nervously. The dream fell apart and Shadow woke up.

"I'm back!" Shadow said excitedly. "He's not entirely gone, call on him when you need him the most." Night said knowingly. "Yeah, figures." Shadow said, chuckling. "Uh guys, hate to ruin the reunion but uh, mom isn't back to normal." Lilly (Shadow's sister.) Said. "what?! When Jake disappeared that should have broken it... Jake wasn't controlling them at all, he just was able to manipulate them." Night said. "Well then, how do we bring her back out if it?" Shadow asked. "I have an idea, but there is a possibility... no, she will make it through" Night said, charging for Aurora. Upon impact two things happened, one: the hypnosis broke; and two: she was sent flying.

Aurora slowed down in the air, "ah" Night grunted in pain, Aurora then fell onto the basalt with a sickening crunch. "Mom, I'm sorry..." Night said, fainting. "Mom!" Shadow ran to her, thinking she was injured. "Mom..." Shadow said, on the verge of tears. "She, unfortunately, isn't part of this world anymore, at least that I can detect." Lil said, trying to keep Shadow stable. "...no...why..." Shadow didn't know what to think about any of it. He didn't want to show his pain, so he tried to hide it best he could, however making a small whimper. "Don't try to hide your pain, it'll only cause you extra suffering." Lil said. So instead Shadow just collapsed. In a few seconds there was a splash.

"Uh what happened here?" Comet asked, still a little dazed. But Shadow didn't respond...he just stared at his mother's corpse with a blank expression, and without blinking nor flinching even once. "O-oh...oh no..." Comet said. "Sh-she's gone...she's actually gone....and there's no undoing it." Shadow said finally, barely managing to speak. "There was nothing we could've done...for all we know she probably would never have broken free from the hypnosis, even with our help." Lilly said, walking up to shadow and placing a paw on his shoulder, "let's go...there is nothing for us here except bad memories." She suggested. "Y-yeah...I'll get Night..." Shadow said.

"Don't touch me, I'm the one who did this. Leave me to rot, but give mom a proper burial." Night said, waking up. "It's as Lilly said, this might've been our only choice, and even then, it was merely an accident. None of this would've happened in the first place if it weren't for Jake and Natalie." Shadow said. "Speak of the devil, and she shall appear" Natalie said, looking at Night. "If I can do anything in this life, it's protecting those I considered family. Good luck, Shadow." Night said, not even looking at Shadow or anyone else. "you are going to die for what you have done!!!" Night yelled, "hope you're ready to DIE" he said demonically, growing in size at a fast pace.

"Lilly please take care of Terra." Lilly started screaming, holding her head. "Ugh dammit....know what Night, I'll come back for you, to help kill Natalie here." Shadow said picking Lilly up. "Comet let's go, I'll explain later." Shadow said. "Right, coming." Comet said, following behind as Shadow climbed the pit's wall shortly reaching stable ground and the three headed home. "Lil can you hear me now?" Shadow asked after he left the cave. "Yes, yes I can hear you." Lil responded. "Okay, good, good thing she can hear me now." Shadow said. Suddenly the ground shook, and Terra's voice started screaming "NIGHT!" it sounded like she was crying.

"What just happened?" Shadow asked. "Night committed Self Destruct." Terra said, still sobbing, "I can't believe it, and we were going to adopt, too." She said. "Wait then that means... you two have....urm..." Shadow said, knowing what it was but not wanting to say it. "Yes." Terra answered, beginning to calm down a little. "How the hell is that even possible?!" Shadow asked. "You...don't wanna know." Terra said. "Probably not, let's just change the subject. "So uh, now you're part of Lilly?" Shadow asked. "Yeah..." Terra answered. "Sorry to bring it up." Shadow said. "It's fine, problem is now we have no clue where Night is now." Terra said.

"What do you mean? He's in that pit." Shadow said. "No...Self Destruct, it killed him." Terra told him. "Wait no, self destruct only makes the pokémon using it faint." Shadow explained. "No, not for Night, it killed him, his body can't handle it." She explained. "So he's dead?!" Shadow said. "DAMMIT! Why does everyone have to either die or go missing? He was like a brother to me...no he was a brother to me...why does this have to keep happening to me?" Shadow asked. "It's obvious now, I'm cursed, I've always been made to suffer." Shadow said, calm, or at least trying to stay calm, but with his head down and his rings dimming in color. "I-I give up on fighting..." Shadow said, his rings dimming even more.

"Sh-Shadow?" Lilly said. "Oh you're awake." Shadow said in a neutral tone. "Can you walk?" Shadow asked. Just because I give up on fighting, doesn't mean I give up on fighting for others...and if I don't feel anything how could I possibly suffer? Upon receiving this thought Shadow's rings became a dull gray. Shadow lied down to let Lilly off of him. "Okay, yeah I'm fine. My head still hurts a little, but everything else is fine." Lilly said. "Huh, uh Shadow?" She asked upon noticing the new coloration of his rings. "Yes?" Shadow responded. "What happened to your rings?" Lilly asked. "I actually don't know."

Shadow said, looking back to notice his rings had changed from a brilliant blue to a dull gray. Huh, strange. Shadow thought to himself. "We should head back to the den and regroup there....but after that...I have no clue." Shadow said, still speaking in a neutral tone.

4 hours later

"Well, we've made it to the den, you two can stay up if you wish." Shadow said, still speaking in a neutral tone. He went to his room and lied down on the pile of leaves that were his bed. Why does everyone I hold dear have to die? I-It should've been me...I should've been the one to perish instead of everyone else...why do I always have to be the sole survivor? Shadow thought to himself. Finally, his eyes completely dulled and he drifted off into a slumber.

The dream realm

"Night! Where are you?!" Shadow's dream self said. Why am I calling out for him when he's dead and where the hell am I? He thought to himself as he kept calling out for Night for reasons unknown. He's gone you idiot. He thought to himself. "Night is gone...there is no getting him back...at this point I'm almost tempted to try a ressurection ritual. Or i'd gladly trade my life for his without hesitation. Anything to bring him back. Most of my family is gone now, and he was the one closest to me....now I pretty much have no family left except for my sister...but what if something happens to her....ok I've made my decision: abandon Jake and Lilly and proceed to run away.

They are safest that way, and I will not be putting them in danger like before, and bring the computer with me so they don't find out about the lab." He said to himself

In reality

When Shadow woke up it was the dead of night and Lilly and Comet were sleeping near each other. I left them a note and simply left. "Guess I'm on my own now, well except I have Lil here." Shadow said to himself. "I never actually thought of the kind of power or even moves I may know because of her." He continued, "or even how to let her speak through me like Night and Terra." Shadow said to himself. Lil you okay? Shadow asked mentally but received no answer. Lil? He asked. Still no answer. Ok so you're ignoring me then? That's fine. At least I can ask the computer some questions while I walk around. Shadow thought to himself.

With Night...

"Ow what happened?" he attempted to ask Terra. "Oh yeah, Terra is with Lilly. Well it worked, but i can't contact anyone." "hey, who are you?" someone asked. Jumping onto his paws, Night started to look for the owner of the voice. Finding the way the voice came from, Night saw a vaporeon and a jolteon, the vaporeon asked again, "who are you?" "Sorry, am I trespassing?" Night asked. "No, nothing like that, but you just appeared out of nowhere." She said. "Well that's what Self Destruct does, it causes the user to disintegrate and reform somewhere else, the process causes a massive explosion." Night explained.

"Oh I never gave you my name, my name is Nightmare, or Night. I never met my parents and my brother was killed, the family I was with just barely got out of range when I blew up. Oh hold on." Night sent out a homing blast, on a frequency that only ones who were looking would find, aiming for Terra. Both the vaporeon and jolteon stepped back, seemingly feeling the blast. "Well Night, i'm Aquamarine, just call me Aqua, or Marine. This is Dash." Aqua said, pointing at the jolteon. Night just started at the both of them, muttering "no, it can't be true, right? Well I never met them and those bodies weren't proven to be theirs.

So..." looking at the pair, Night asked, skeptically "did you have a kid named Grayson?" the vaporeon and jolteon just looked at each other, looking back to Night, they both nodded, with tears in their eyes. "I'm sorry, he was killed about 4 months ago, he was my brother." Night said, tearing up. Night froze when he heard Shadow, "but that can't be right he's a weeks travel off to the north. Wait." Night said to himself. Attempting to contact Shadow he mentaly yelled, "keep tight shadow, i'm coming. And you won't believe who I found, or found me, for that matter."

Shadow...

Suddenly Shadow lifted up his head. Night...he's, he's alive?! No...that can't be, Terra said herself that he died. But if there's a will, there's a way. Shadow thought, feeling the blast as well as thinking he heard Night's thoughts, he finally regained hope, his rings returned to a brilliant blue and his eyes lit up again. I'm coming Night! Shadow thought. "About time you got your act together." Lil said. Well, there you are, you weren't saying anything. Shadow told her. "You couldn't hear me, you were too depressed for thought to affect you." Lil told him, appearing before him in a silhouette kind of form. "Oh hey, now I am able to see you, well, at least your silhouette." Shadow said.

"We aren't connected enough for you to be able to completely see my form, yet." Lil explained. "Hey computer. Is there any way you could track Night?" Shadow asked the mini computer that was floating near him. "Nightmare, current condition: deceased, unable to track last known location... status update: alive, homing blast detected, pinning location" the portable computer said, showing a map with two dots, one a dark yellow color and one a dark blue color. "And computer, send a drone to him to ensure he remains safe, have the drone tell him I sent it." Shadow said. "Unfortunately the facility is dormant and that feature is currently unavailable.

To reactivate the facility type in this pin to the pad on the main door." the mini computer said, showing a six digit code. "Would getting a new DNA sample of mine also work or is typing in the code my only choice?" Shadow asked. "Checking soft and hardware... to remotely reactivate the facility the dna of two authority figures are required. Two authority figures detected in a 30 foot radius, one approaching rapidly and you...remote activation started...rebooting..." it said, shutting down. "30 feet?! But there's no way Night could be that close could he?" Shadow asked no one in particular. "Shadow what are you doing at six in the morning?" Lilly asked.

"Uh nothing, just getting some berries, go back to bed." He lied. "Reactivation complete, sending a drone," the little computer said. "Mhm, sure because that thing definitely didn't go off, and Terra is yelling, something about 'he is alive, thank Arceus,' now she's yelling at me" Lilly said, not understanding any of it. "Bad timing computer... Urm yeah, Lilly, meet the computer I've been around for the past week, but I'll never allow you into the lab, however, because it holds too many bad memories of others who perished there and also, the place seems to be bad luck. Also, Night, he's alive, I couldn't believe it at first but then I decided I need to stop doubting myself, doubting life.

So I made myself believe it, go back to the den, I'm going to find him." Shadow said. "Shadow, don't he is on his way to us. If we don't meet him here, he won't know what to do. We are all the family he has left. Terra, explain to this man." Lilly said punching the ground, growing an ice pillar. The ice then transformed into what Terra would normally look like. "Ok a few things to explain, one Self Destruct is a move that is specific to Night, so i don't know the affects or the effects of the move. Also he found his parents, well more like his parents found him. He is going to bring them here. And the drone reached him just now, Shadow." Terra started explaining.
