Chapter 16: Beginning Of Darkness

That morning, Shadow and his family

Shadow woke up and decided it was time to head back, so, hoping the shuttle was repaired, he reactivated the autopilot. "Ship recall." He said. The shuttle's thrusters activated and it began heading for the Armada. He heard a quick, millisecond long static sound play, signaling he entered the Armada's sphere of influence. As the shuttle docked Shadow got a warning message. He grabbed Dawn and teleported, with her, to the medbay to check on Tellus for Night, then, still carrying Dawn, checked all the medbay rooms, upon seeing Aurora and Dusk there he got worried, and just stayed there to keep an eye on them.

ArmarosAt the time Night and Terra had just left for the planet

Armaros was glad to have finally gotten rid of that bot and to finally have peace and quiet, allowing him to take care of the pain he felt. I am happy for those two, I know they belong to each other, that she'd gladly choose him, that they deserve each other, are right for each other, so why, why does this pain still exist? It feels so wrong to feel this pain when I know I don't belong in the picture. He thought to himself. Having enough of this thing that felt so wrong given the circumstances, he used a technique that would numb himself to the point where he only has enough emotion to keep himself going, for most, without proper help, the effects of the technique are permanent. For few the effects are temporary, without any help. The technique he used was a special way to clear the mind, clearing it by removing as much emotion as wanted rather than removing the thoughts "Okay that's better, now I won't continue feeling that wrongful pain." He said to himself. He had put his small campsite by a lake in a forest area to keep himself sustained and be able to live the rest of his lonely days here. He felt at peace, but it wasn't a good kind of peace. A neutral peace where all emotion is at the same level as one another and any thoughts coming and going have no emotion behind them at all. There was a revertibratiung blast as the shuttle broke into the atmosphere. Several bird-like creatures took flight. Armaros sighed to himself. "What now?" He asked himself. "Whatever, no point in running from it." the area shook upon impact, the trees shaking from both change in pressure and the impact. Armaros lied down by the lake. The water rippled with the shock wave. After a few seconds, a large tidal wave came rolling towards the forest area he was in. Armaros jumped and looked then lied back down. "If I drown I drown, if I live I live." He said to himself. The tide fell into the water after a sonic blast distorted it too much for it to keep going. Armaros continued to lie there. There was crashing through the trees and two mon jumped the cliff on the other side of the lake. Not even a second later, a burst of flames ripped through the forest, and where the mon had been. A few seconds went by before the mon hit the water. He turned and looked at them to see who they were. While he caught glimpses of them, he couldn't quite see them well enough to know who, or what, they were. All he saw was two black blurs. "Hello?" He called to them. The top of the lake began to freeze over. He quickly ran over to it using a fire move to melt the ice so they could get out. The ice receded, but quickly returned. Then the two mon, one passed out, the other dragging the first, broke the ice and came to shore. Armaros ran over to them to see who they were. "What happened? I thought I was alone on this world, except for that stupid spy machine thing and the flora and possible creatures I haven't run into, but I didn't think there was other mon here." Armaros said as he walked up to the two, getting a look at them after finishing. "Life isn't always as it seems, Armaros," the dark Glaceon said, performing CPR on the other pokemon. "Terra? What are you and Night doing here?" Armaros asked in that dull tone, confused. "What reason do we have to be here?" Terra asked, looking at Armaros. "I don't know." Armaros replied. "You," She replied. "I don't understand, you have Night back." Armaros said. "I know, but the twenty years with you don't disappear like that, you know, I still love you, that hasn't changed," Terra said, giving Armaros a hug. He hugged back, the effects of what he did earlier dissipating. "But you have him now you don't need me." Armaros said. Though I need her. He thought to himself. "That's not true, I need you as much as I have always needed you," Terra whispered in his ear. "But you have him back." Armaros countered. "That doesn't mean I don't need you, it just means that I don't need just you now," Terra replied, Night spitting up water and sitting up. Night coughed a few times, trying to get up. "Just leave please, it was hard enough for me to leave... as much as it hurts me to say this... we both know I was just a temporary mate for until you found Night again." Armaros said, tears in his own eyes from saying that out loud, he, his heart yearned for her so trying to push was hurting him. "Armaros... I do love you, finding Night doesn't change that, I am reunited with an old mate, but it doesn't mean I don't love you too," Terra told Amaros. Night nodded at what she said. "Just go, please." Armaros said, turning away. "For two reasons, I will not, one, I'm not going anywhere without you, and two, that explosion was our way off the planet... some fatal errors in the hardware," Terra said. "Well you have that nice earpiece, you can call for help." Armaros said, "Just, all I'm asking, as much as it hurts, is for you to leave, there's nothing for you here, I have nothing for you, he can provide you more then I possibly ever could, so just, please, call the ship for help and then leave." "I'm going to be blunt with you, first of all, she loves you more than me, second of all, the earpieces were in the pod when it blew. Those things hurt on entry, so we took them off," Night explained. "I highly doubt she loves me more than she loves you, you two have had way more time to build and grow your bonds. Also, you can take that stupid machine someone up in the ship sent, to, I assume, spy on me, and use it to get back, I finally managed to get it to lose me back that way." Armaros replied, pointing in the direction he left the robot in. "What machine?" Terra asked, confused. "Ask whoever you put in charge after going off with Night because I assume whoever they were had sent it here." Armaros replied. "The entire system locked up when you touched planet side, or so I'm told," Terra explained. "Well I had nothing to do with that." Armaros replied. "Then... oh god, I thought I deactivated that thing completely," Terra said, sighing. Night sat on the water, trying to steady himself. "What thing?" Armaros asked. "There is a built-in subprocess that will not stop, even stopping other things, to finish its only task... Protecting the captain's loved ones," Terra explained. "Oh does that have something to do with the stupid invincible bot that won't leave me alone?" Armaros asked. "Maybe?" Terra said, not entirely sure. "Well you got any ways to get back?" Armaros replied. "Not that I'm aware of, there may be, but I don't know of it," Terra replied. Night was sitting and looking at the sky. "Eventually they'll realize you're missing and come for you." Armaros told them. "Anyways, I am exhausted from all the running, I'm going to go rest, good luck to the two of you.." He stated and then headed into the brush. Night gets up and follows him with Terra. Armaros knew they were following him but he didn't have the energy to expend to react, so once he found a cave he just observed it to make sure it was vacant then lied down inside to rest. Night and Terra went along with him, not sure on what else to do. Armaros just relaxed in a darker spot, that was out of the way of any possible wind. Terra lied next to Armaros while Night sat at the entrance. Armaros looked over to Night. "Why don't you lie by him?" He asked Terra. Terra nuzzled Amaros, "cause I love you too, and I know you need to know that, be shown that, more than him right now." "But don't you love him though?" Armaros asked, "as I stated before, we both know I was just a temporary replacement until you found him again." "No you goddamn are not," Night said, looking at Armaros, "she loves you as much, if not more, than me." Armaros just turned his head away and lied it down, he was getting tired of the argument and getting tired of putting himself through emotional stress by trying to argue about it. "Neither of us are going back without you," Night continued, "she loves you as a mate, and I, for how little I know you, see you as family. I don't leave my family behind." "Unless you don't have a choice." Armaros said. I wonder if that pest of a machine could get them back to the ship. He thought. "I always have a choice, if not, I make one, and if I can't do that, I stay with them," Night said with finality, "I will not leave you to die here." "Unless said family Forces You To leave them behind, then you would have only one choice, and that would be the choice they're making for you, and I wouldn't die here unless from age, or creatures that may live here, if any do." Armaros said. Fate had decided, the second I had set paw here, that this world is where my journey ends. He told himself. "Two months," Night said, "that is how long you could live here, if the foliage didn't kill you first." "What are you talking about? There is plenty of food and water here, there is oxygen here, I could live here til my last few days." Armaros said, realizing Terra was still next to him, he shifted away from Terra a little, as much as it hurt him to do so. Terra hugged Aramos. "The core is unstable, it won't last two months before the planet collapses in on itself," Night explained. Armaros tried to move away from Terra, only hurting himself by trying. "Which then I could die alone. A fitting end for a demon." Armaros mumbled. Terra didn't let him go, a few of her tears hitting his pelt, "please... please don't do this to me," Terra cried softly. "I'm sorry... but you have him back, you only need him, far more than you need me... and he needs you... and I couldn't possibly force you to choose between us... so... I am removing myself from being an option... you'll be happy with him, and eventually you'll forget I ever existed." Armaros said, trying hard to prevent himself from crying. Terra rolled him to his back and kissed him, "I won't choose between you two, I want you both, both of you or neither of you," she told Night and Armaros. "But, it's impossible to have a relationship with more than one mon... such a thing doesn't exist..." "Then I'll make it a thing, nothing is impossible," Terra said. "I thought it was impossible to have a kid with one that didn't have a physical form, and yet Violet happened," Night said. "That's different." Armaros said. "Unless you can somehow clone yourself, it's impossible to have a relationship with more than one mon." "It's possible without that, polyamory is a thing," Night replied. "Uhuh." Armaros said in disbelief. "I'm not wrong, I know a few groups of polyamory, all nice mon, seriously, wonderful to be around," Night said. "Sorry, can you please define that word you just made up?" Armaros asked. "What word? None of those words I made up," Night asked. "Polyarmory." Armaros said, purposely mispronouncing it to emphasize how much he didn't believe it was a word. "Oh, yeah, I can see why you might not know it, anyway, it is of Latin roots. Poly meaning many, or more than one, amor, meaning love, many loves is what it means," Night explained with analytical thinking done awhile ago. "Right, well pole amor whatever relationships don't exist and would be completely impossible." Armaros replied. "And for that reason..." he continued and looked to Terra, "You said you want both or neither, with me here, but if I get taken out of the picture... I want you to be happy, you'll be happier with him than you ever would with me. I'm sorry... I could never provide you the amount of happiness he could... goodbye love." He finished and kissed her on the forehead and took his claw and attempted to stab himself in the stomach/chest with it. Terra stopped him, his claws piercing her paw. She tried not to let the pain show. "Terra!" Night yelled, running over, but Terra looked at him to stop. "I'm sorry, I didn't intend on stabbing you instead..." Armaros said, pulling his claw out of her paw, then trying to stop it from bleeding. "Don't be, I was the one who put my paw in the way," Terra said, not showing the true extent of the pain. "Why would you do that?" Armaros asked, worried. "I don't want you to kill yourself just to try to make things easier, it will only make it harder," Terra explained. "How? It would be easier, you'd have him and I would be out of the way, out of the picture." Armaros said. "That is what she DOESN'T want, Armaros. She wants you," Night explained. "But she also wants you, if I'm not here then it would be easier on both of you, you'd have her and she'd have you." Armaros replied. "I want you as well, love," Terra said, going to give Armaros a kiss. Since she was on him and didn't want to avoid it either he just had to accept it. Terra hugged him close as she kissed him. Armaros finally just gave in and hugged back. "I love you, I don't ever want to see you die, Armaros," Terra told him. "I don't want to see you dead either," Night agreed. Armaros smiled but it quickly faded. "But how would this work... you can't have a relationship with more than one mon, otherwise it's called cheating." He said. "Not cheating if all parties accept it and are okay with it," Night said. "He's not wrong," Terra agreed. "But wouldn't it be harder though, because eventually jealousy would set in." Armaros told her knowingly. Night laughed, "if you believe that, you'll believe anything." "Not really, because it's true, if it doesn't set in with you then it would with me, either way. Jealousy would set into one side or both sides." Armaros told him. "It wont, I know it," Night said. Terra kissed Armaros again. Armaros kissed back. "I love you," Terra purred. "I love you too." Armaros replied. "We'll be fine, but we need to get off this planet in the next month," Night said, "But for now, lets sleep." "Okay." Armaros replied and closed his eyes. Terra fell asleep, nuzzling Armaros. "I lied to them, it's a week out, not a month..." Night whispered.

The start of the 'morning'

Scar and Violet

Violet woke with a start, not fully aware of anything at that moment. "Morning love." Scar said. "Morning?" Violet asked, seeming confused. "Yeah." Scar replied. "Something..." Violet trailed off, not quite sure. "What?" Scar asked, confused about what she was on about. "I don't know... Something feels off..." Violet replied. "What do you mean?" Scar asked, "Everything is fine." "It's hard to describe..." Violet said, then realized he was both on and in her. "Oh, can you try?" Scar asked her. "Yeah, but can you get off, you are a little heavy," Violet said. "Oh sorry hun." Scar said and got off her and then lied down next to her. "It's like... knowing something is different, but you can't figure it out, just... on a larger scale," Violet tried to explain. "Ah, well nothing seems off for me." Scar told her. "Everything's probably fine? What? You think something like those corruptive brothers from fiction is going to attack us?" Scar asked. "Every story has a grain of truth, some more than others. Be careful what you ask for. They may be real, they may not be, only time will tell," Violet said, still looking for the 'off' thing. "As I said, I'm sure everything's fine, nothing would attack us way out here." "And yet with the hundreds of safety measures in place, the reactor still blew up and you say nothing is wrong?" Violet asked. "Like what may happen with cells in a body, a wrong instruction may be sent, or occur, then the cell, or in this case the reactor, becomes unstable." Scar said. "It was probably just an error." "With every command for the reactors going through three systems, four times each, before it is acted upon, and a seperate system JUST for the reactors, mistakes should never get through, ever..." Violet explained, "And if one reactor went off, it is likely it could happen to the only one left powering this thing." "Well if there is two, and all that other stuff, then it's five times as easy for them to blow 1. No matter what you only have ONE reactor on a ship, 2. There is too much protection stuff for the systems to handle." Scar told her. "I don't think you noticed, but only the repair bots, doors, and life support systems are online, everything else is down, this thing is too massive to have only one generator," Violet said. "Still everything that was in place is what caused it to blow, especially having two nuclear reactors. All the things that were in place basically caused it to blow itself up." Scar stated. A black mist suddenly filled the ship then there was evil laughter. "What are such weaklings doing trespassing in our domain?" A creepy voice said within the darkness. "I don't know brother, but I think we ought to show them why no one has ever gone into space nor even worked on attempting to ever since the first time someone attempted it." Another said. "Good idea brother, let the suffering commence." Suddenly purple chains came from nowhere, chaining scar down too tight too suddenly, there was a crack sound and Scar yelped in pain. "Ah!" Violet yelped, falling off the bed. All she could hear was an evil cackling, see, not so much, thanks to the dark mist shrouding this part of the ship, thick as fog, dark as a moonless night. The smoke systems began to blow and pull air, trying to clear the air. Violet relied on her sense of power to locate Scar's mana pool. She could sense it since the darkness didn't seem to sap any power or anything, the chains that restrained Scar, however, seemed to sap one's strength, or energy, it would be difficult to tell which. Violet tried to follow his mana to him, hitting the bed in the process. "Hehehehe foolish little mon, your kind never learn to leave these vast reaches well alone, the last time it happened, let's just say the project that ran the exploration attempt ended within ten minutes of launch." An eerie voice stated. "You and your puny family should've turned right around, the little shadow should've told you about the event years ago, after all, he's seen the texts, and under a rare occurrence seen into the past, he can explain more, if we decide to let you live. Which is highly unlikely, hehehe." Another one stated, "Or should we just have him be the one to destroy you all? After all, corruption is easy to obtain." At that last bit, Violet froze as pieces clicked in her head, and unknown to all, she smiled. "If it is that easy, then you brothers willingly let us out here, knowing that we would eventually lose fear of you, after all, this grand ship took decades of work. And if you think we will go down easy, haha, think again," and on that, Violet began to pull all the mana from the room, siphoning it from everything. "True fear is hard to obtain when a being's guard is up, because creatures fear the unexpected, they fear the unknown, which is why many fear the abyss that is space, and, well, the actual abyss and void, though closely related, separate places, besides, what better place to die than deep in space where your bodies will never be found, where the world will quickly forget you, it's so deliciously tragic. Hehehe, you fools always forget how near impossible to defeat even a single shadow can be that you think it's the easiest thing, and dear old fool of a father controls them, well rather, keeps them in check, your little friend in the half destroyed shuttle can easily destroy a planet within a week if he'd give in to his true power and his darker half, any of you could be extremely powerful if you'd just, give in to darkness, it was the same for your one friend, wasn't it?" During the monologue, Violet had pull all of the mana, currently, from the room, and felt a pressure of knowledge that she knew was hers, but wasn't at the same time, "you see, there are many flaws in your theory, like the lack of fear that brought the Gaia here in the first place, acceptance of the unknown, unwavering readiness for the the path that lies ahead, but you have already realized that, Haven't you, Nova?" Violet asked one of them, "Nice to see you two again. By the way, it's been such a long time, centuries..." her voice distorting at the end. "Courage only gets one so far, but at the end, ultimately, the number one thing all creatures fear the most is death, to the point they're willing to sacrifice another just to continue living, the young shadow knows this all too well, I'm sure he'll tell of that nasty act if you pressure him enough, after all, he takes pressure before giving in, you know that well enough, you and your little family, excluding scar, his old mate was nothing more of a nuisance than anything else, as is he, as are those who decide leave the world in which they are supposed to live in, so that includes your little family, so we got rid of her as we will get rid of you." "And you must include yourselves in that group of those who left their origin, after all, you are here instead of the void or the abyss," Violet said, voice clear again as she dumped the power she gained to open a portal, not for them, but for Abyssius. "And I suppose you are calling m-" Abyssius stopped, seeing who had opened the vortex, "your signature is identical to your father's, little one," she stepped through, clearing the fog in an instant. Violet had the portal close, her mana sapped as its entirety. The beings that were in the room disappeared as soon as Abyssius entered through the portal. "We will meet again, and next time, you will not live, starting with that pathetic excuse for a living being." A voice echoed, followed by two evil cackling. "Remember, we are always watching."
