Chapter 14: Vulnerable
“Tell them or something will happen, Abyssius knows all too well about the consequences of things like that, and to answer your thought, I don’t know what that ‘something’ is,” Night said. "I am not telling anyone and you won't either, the second they find out I'm afraid I'll have to go." Dusk said. As much as I'd hate to leave I'd have no choice. He thought. “I’ll give you seventy-two hours to make up your mind, and I won’t be gentle,” Night said, getting up and heading to the steel table, putting a paw on Blackflame. "No! No one shall ever know!" Dusk said. “Then you have three days before they find out from me, use it wisely,” Night said, “now, Shadow will be fine, Blackflame passed out due to fear, and before you ask, yes, it is possible." Night told him. "Of course it is, you can also die of fear. Also, the hell could possibly have scared him so bad?" Dusk asked. “From what I saw, being lunged at twice by two mon who want to rip his head off, I would assume." Comet said. "no one in this room lunged at him or tried to do anything of the sort." Dusk told him. “You and Shadow did,” Comet said to Dusk, nuzzling lilly. "I didn't lunge at him or try to do that." Dusk said. “Yeah you did, Dusk,” Night said, watching Blackflame wake slowly. "I didn't lunge at him, I just picked him up to get past the barrier, and Shadow didn't lunge at him either, he just ran over to him." Dusk said, "So Night you wanted to talk to me about something alone, well let's go talk." “She’s already here, she can tell you, come on guys,” Night said, beginning to leave. Blackflame rolled off the cold table and followed Nightmare with Violet. Night paused and waited for the waking Shadow. Shadow was about to kill himself again but then felt Dawn lying against him. "Why? Your father is a horrible mon, why, after so long, do you insist on coming to me?" Shadow asked the sleepy vee, not expecting a response. “I wonder the same thing, uncle,” Violet said. Shadow picked her up. I don't want to push her away… but… it'll be the best thing for her if I weren't her parent, biologically I am but… He thought and then sighed a sad sigh. “It’s fine, though, you are her father, that’s a hard connection to break,” Violet said. "Yeah, if she didn't imprint on me she'd be looking at someone else as her parent." Shadow said, heading to the only apparent exit he could see. Night saw him get up, then he continued towards the elevator. “So you are Shadow?” Abyssius asked. "Who are you and how do you know my name?" Shadow asked. “I’m Abyssius, as for how I know your name, I will keep that a while longer…” Abyssius said, knowing she was toying with him by not telling him what he wanted. "Whatever." Shadow said, entering the elevator. Everyone, but Dusk and Abyssius, followed them into the elevator and it ascended. “Why are you so afraid of mon knowing what you do?” Abyssius asked, sitting in one of the chairs. "You know what'll happen if they find out, the same thing happened 10 times in a row, every single time." Dusk answered. “These guys are different, I made sure of that before I sent you here,” she replied. "Yeah sure. It always happens, I get attached, they find out my secret, then boom, instant outcast. I still haven't learned my lesson not to get attached." Dusk said. “I see that you have yet to understand that you are losing the chance to keep them, because the longer you wait, the worse it is going to be,” Abyssius replied. "No, it's not, if they find out it's game over, if I keep it hidden then everything will remain fine." Dusk said, "if it weren't for Night I wouldn't even have to lie." “Even a partial truth is a lie, Dusk,” Abyssius said, “And i asked him to make it, so it would explain if you weren’t able to, don’t lie to them, Dusk, they will understand, you know how different that family is to any of the others.” "I know what'll happen, it always does, don't make this the 11th time it does." Dusk pleaded. “If you don’t, i’ll have Night do it, you have a month, Dusk Yugure,” Abyssius said. "No matter how much time you two give me I will never tell, and as much as I'd hate to? I'll have no choice but to run away if and when they find out." Dusk replied. “Are you sure?” She asked him. "I would hate to but yeah." Dusk said solemnly. “Explain it to them, they will understand,” She said. "No! You know what'll happen if I do! I don't want to be forced to run away again, if these ones find out then I'm done helping you and living my life, no one knowing of my past so that I won't be an outcast ever again." Dusk told her. “They will find out eventually, you know that right?” She asked. "No, they won't, if no one says anything, they won't." Dusk answered “they will, and you know it,” Abyssius said. "No they won't, if Night deletes what he has for it and no one tells them, they'll have no way of finding out." Dusk said. “I asked him about it, he has a specific thing to activate it, without the password, anyway, and it is a 25 character password, or so he says,” Abyssius said. "Then they have no way of finding out if none of them are told." Dusk told her. “Unless I told Night to tell them,” She replied. "As I said if no one tells them they will never find out." Dusk repeated. “It’s unethical what you do to them, you know them, but they don’t know you,” Abyssius said. "They know the kind of mon I am, they know I can be trusted, so yes, they do know me." Dusk told her. “But they don’t know you,” She countered, flames starting to rise a little. "I just said they know the kind of mon I am so yes they do." Dusk repeated, getting tired of having to repeat himself for her to hear him. “What kind, yes, but not you,” Abyssius replied, the flames dying. "What do you mean by that then?" Dusk asked. “They know what kind of mon you are, but other than that, they know nothing about you,” She answered, getting up. "So what? As long as they know I'm safe to be around that's fine they don't need to know my past, none of them know Blaze's past and everything's still fine with him soooo." Dusk countered. “I don’t know him, so I won’t say anything on this ‘Blaze’.” Abyssius said, “But there will always be a little mistrust if they don’t know any of your past, and seeing you with the vaporeon, the mistrust can’t be there if you want one.” "If I want one what?" Dusk asked, never having asked for anything. “You will understand one day,” Abyssius said, getting up and heading to the elevator shaft and pressing the call button. She entered the elevator when it came down. Dusk followed.
The others before the conversation.
“So, you guys remember what it was like for the past year?” Night asked, the elevator still going up. "Boring, well, it would've been." Aurora said. “Pretty much what she said, and to add on the last part, because I had someone to take care of.” Violet said. “We actually were upset when we heard the news of you and Shadow dying, but in general, it was an okay year,” Comet said, “Blackflame came one day and simply said that you and Shadow had died, but were being revived, which we regarded with skepticism, till he showed us the chambers.” "Dusk was suspicious of him until he used that holo-thingy to prove he could be trusted." Aurora said, "which to be fair you sort of appeared out of nowhere instead of walking up to us like a normal person and then practically demanded we handed over Night's corpse." Aurora told Blackflame. “It wasn’t the best approach, I’ll admit, but I wanted to get back to my clan, they kinda need me,” Blackflame said. The elevator reached the ground floor and opened to reveal a bustling foyar. “It’s good to be back,” Nightmare said, stepping out of the elevator. “Yeah, it’s good to see the city back to life,” Blackflame said, not seeming bothered by the change of atmosphere in the arena. "Also I hope you understand why Dusk is picking on you like he was today." Aurora said. “I don’t care, I’m going home, see you guys later,” Blackflame said, jumping through the metal rind on the back wall and disappearing. “What?” Violet asked, confused as all hell. Aurora exited the elevator. "Nice to see the place alive again." Aurora said. “Been a while, huh?” Lilly asked. “Mhm,” Violet agreed, exiting the elevator as well. When everyone left, the doors closed and it headed back down. "A year and this one still insists on coming to me…" Shadow said to himself. I'm going to have no choice but to push her away. He thought if anyone was reading his mind, his mind's voice would sound sad. His facial expression was also one of sadness. “Don’t, it will break her,” Violet said, hearing his thought. “Hm?” lilly asked, not really paying attention to what had just transpired. Violet shook her head in answer. “Okay,” Lilly responded, heading outside with Comet. Shadow followed, feeling… undeserving. Violet sighed then followed them out, then saw Blaze, “Aurora, fire alert, Blaze,” Violet said, as simply as possible. "Well… he should know." Aurora said and went up to him "Hey Blaze, been a while." “No shit,” Blaze said, walking by her. He seemed a little pissed to only see her now. The others had gone on ahead to give the two of them space. "Night had died, as soon as he did everyone, including you I assume, were teleported to a mirror city, so I couldn't go see you. It wasn't until recently that he was revived." Aurora told him. “Yeah, sure,” Blaze said, still walking. "It's true, also you should also know that, before Night had died, I chose Dusk." Aurora said, following him. “I know, i didn’t expect anything else, also, in the past year, i started taking care of someone, but you wouldn’t care about that, would you?” Blaze accused. "Why wouldn't I? It's not my fault Night decided to teleport the entire town to a place I had no access to, you want to yell at someone, yell at him! Anyways, who're you taking care of?" Aurora asked. He didn’t respond. "Why are you being like this?" Aurora asked, standing in his way. He walked around her, still not responding to her. Aurora grabbed him. "Answer the question, friend." Aurora said politely. “Don’t call me a friend, I have none,” Blaze barked at her. "What about Night? He's also your friend, what, what happened to you?" Aurora asked. “Many things I don’t want to get into again,” He answered, his fluff turning blue and his fur black for a second, then his natural color returning. "So we know nothing about your past and now you're treating me like I attacked you. I'm done, get your whole… ordeal straight then maybe we can talk again, and be sure to tell us everything, how you met Night and what happened in the past year and start treating us better than you are treating me right now then maybe we can be friends again, I guess you are right, you don't have friends, how could you if you push them away?" Aurora asked and then liquefied and returned to the Arena to wait for Dusk. Just as she returned to solid did Abyssius come out, “oh, hey,” Was all the black espeon said, then continued walking. "Hey hun." Dusk said, nuzzling Aurora. She nuzzled back. "Hey, come on, let's return to the group." Aurora replied, and so they did. The rest of them were at Clarice’s smoothie shop. Almost as if on cue, when the two arrived, Shadow just remembered about the berry. "OH! I just remembered, we've been meaning to get this planted." Shadow said to Night, bringing out the Winter Berry. “This is that berry I told you about, about thirteen months ago, Clarice,” Night said. The shiny litten outstretched a paw to Shadow. Shadow handed over the berry. “Hmm… I can get this planted in the proper way, it may take a little while to do, but it can be done. Twilight and I can get it taken care of,” Clarice said. “You and your mother have green paws, I swear it’s under your fur, no matter how many times I check,” Night said. Violet seemed confused about it all, “I thought twi…” She stopped herself before she went any farther than that. Shadow just went over to a table and sat Dawn onto a stool and then sat in the one next to her and then sighed to himself. “Shadow, I swear to Arceus, if you do what I think you are gonna do… well, I won't be the only one to hit you,” Violet said, watching him. “I’m still confused, I thought you hated him,” Lilly said. “She did,” Comet said, confused as well. “Oh please, I’m not going to just abandon her in the middle of town, or abandon her anywhere.” Shadow explained other than at home of course. He thought. Violet narrowed her eyes at him. “What exactly happened to you two after I died?” Night asked his daughter and brother. “Nothing really, I died only a half hour after you did,” Shadow replied. “A lot more than that, dear uncle, and dad, I’ll explain later,” Violet said, not wanting to explain in front of others. “Make sure you do,” Night said, taking another sip from his drink. It was then that he noticed Dusk and Aurora, “so, how are you two? And mom, please let me know what happened with Blaze,” Night said. Violet turned in her chair, holding her drink and looked at Aurora with a searching gaze. Aurora explained what he said and how he was acting as well as explaining what she said. “Did you say black and blue fur?” Night asked her. “Yes,” Aurora answered. “I’ll be back,” Night said, putting money on the counter to pay for their drinks and leaving. “What’s that about?” Violet asked. “I have a bad feeling about this,” Lilly said, to which Comet nodded in agreement. “Well because of this little event I am as curious about how he and Night met as Shadow is, I’d be surprised if none of you were as curious too.” Aurora said, “He had better tell us soon or things won’t turn out that well for him.” Before anyone could speak, there was a large blast from outside, though Clarice didn’t pay attention to it like it was normal. “The hell was that?” Violet wondered, getting up. “I don’t know.” Aurora said and ran outside. There was a pillar of smoke coming from the top of the arena. “Oh no,” Violet said, coming out behind Aurora. Lilly and Comet didn’t say anything, just gasped when they saw it. “What is that?” Aurora asked. “If my suspicions are correct, that was Blaze in Night’s office, again, every time, no damage occurs to the office so we just kinda left it,” Clarice said from inside. “Oh, if it’s just Blaze there’s nothing to worry about, then again what if something happens to Night?” Aurora asked. There were two blasts one after another, and two rings expanded, one of black, the other of white. Violet went to the ground, wincing in pain. Lilly instantly went to her, concerned for her, Comet was concerned as well, but he knew he wouldn’t be helpful. Aurora was also concerned and so went over to Violet, “What is it? What’s wrong?” She asked. “What… ow…” Violet managed, “what was it?” “What was what?” Aurora asked. “B-blasts,” She said, passing out. Lilly looked at her mother, “Hospital?” Was all that Lilly asked. “Hey Clarice, where is the nearest hospital?” Aurora asked. “Down the road east, two blocks, you’ll find it there,” Clarice answered, worried. Aurora took Violet to the hospital, Lilly and Comet following. When they got there, the receptionist was also passed out. “Is anyone here awake?” Aurora asked. An eevee came from the back, “Yes, there are, but it seems that the repetitive blast knocked out all psychic sensitive pokemon in the city, our sister locations are calling us with capacity alerts, but we aren’t fairing much better,” He said. “Sakana, there are still patients back here, I need your help, how many times do I have to tell you?” A jolteon with an overcoat asked. “Psychic sensitive? OH NO SHADOW!!” Aurora exclaimed. “He’s overly psychic sensitive, like, he has no psychic barriers on his mind, Lilly, go check on your brother.” “What is he?” An umbreon asked, coming from the room the jolteon entered. “An umbreon, but he is different from any normal/shiny umbreon…” Aurora said, watching Lilly leave. “How so?” the umbre asked, heading for another room. “Well…” Aurora said and then started to explain what Shadow told her what he had gone through at the lab.
Back at the bar, when Lilly got there.
When Lilly entered the building Shadow was on the ground seizing up. “Clarice, can I get some help getting Shadow to the hospital?” Lilly asked. Clarice hopped over the bar to help her. Dusk entered the bar. “What’s- “ He cut himself off when he saw Shadow seizing up. “You two need help?” “YES!” Lilly yelled, trying to keep shadow’s front paws still while Clarice froze the back ones in place. “I can carry him for you, chain him down to my back to hold him still and have no risk of him falling off.” Dusk said. “Lilly, behind the counter is a seven meter chain and a set of connectors, toss them to me,” Clarice said. Lilly hopped over the counter like Clarice did, found the chain of which was spoken of, and tossed it to her. Clarice caught the chain and it stiffened in place, then slumped. "That won't be necessary, I have my own." Dusk said. “Then why did you ask us?” Clarice asked, making the chain spike, “And this isn’t to tie down, this is infused metal, when you use an element on it, it spikes with the element.” "I didn't ask you for chains, just help me get him on my back, my psychic isn't working at the moment for some reason." Dusk said. “Nor mine, but I don’t like to use what little I have,” Clarice said, motioning for lilly to help get Shadow on Dusk. Lilly, obviously, followed command and helped the white litten get Shadow on Dusk’s back. Once he was on, chains came from the ground and chained Shadow to Dusk's back, the end of them going around Dusk's stomach and then he started bringing Shadow to the hospital. Lilly and Clarice, who was holding her length chain and running on her back legs with a black cloak on, followed Dusk closely. They soon reached the hospital, upon seeing Aurora, Dusk told her what was going on with Shadow. “Is this him?” the umbreon from before asked, Looking at the umbreon on the monochrome umbreon.. "Yes." Dusk said, removing the chains. “You his brother?" she asked, lifting the umbre off the other umbreon, setting him on a stretcher. As soon as the chains were removed he started seizing again. "No, he's my step-son." Dusk said. “Oh, well, I didn’t see that one coming,” she said, pulling the stretcher to an empty room. "I assume the seizure is because he has no psychic barrier, and is unable to have one." “If that is the case, then it’s not because of that, the last only affects those sensitive to psychic, but if he can’t even feel it, then something else caused it," The umbreon said. "The level of a psychic barrier determines how sensitive to psychic attacks a mon is, if it's not that then it's because the experiments done on him by those scientists that he's so sensitive to psychic." Aurora said. “Are you the doctor? No? Then don’t tell me how to do my job, and that isn’t true. The barrier is defence, not a reader,” the umbreon said. "Either way it was those blasts that caused it I am pretty sure it is.” Aurora said. “Does he happen to have a psychic connection with anyone?” The umbreon asked. “Yes he seems to have a neural link with a mon named Nightmare Astral,” Aurora answered. The umbreon looked at her silently. “You’re kidding, right?” She asked the shiny vaporeon. “No, not at all.” Aurora replied. “That explains a lot, actually, but how?” The umbreon asked. “I guess they just have a strong bond?” Aurora said hesitantly. “I don’t know, I would have to ask Nightmare,” the umbreon replied. “You know him?” Aurora asked. “Everyone does,” the umbreon replied, resting a paw on Shadow’s forehead, “Like the others, we can’t do much with him at the moment, not till the shipment arrives.” “Can’t you try to keep him stable?” Aurora asked. “He is stable, just keep him cool, me and my family are doing the best we can, but without Destiny, we are a wreck,” The umbreon replied. “Okay.” Aurora said. I wonder why Sylvia hasn’t appeared yet. She thought, “there isn’t anything else that I should know about him, is there?” the umbre asked. “No” Aurora said. “Seems like someone forgot me,” Someone said from behind them. The umbre spun around to see a dark sylveon. “No, I didn’t forget you Sylvia.” Aurora said. “That’s reassuring, do you know how miserable one is when being trapped in a green liquid for a year with no contact to anyone?” Syl asked. “You could’ve transferred to someone else’s mind like mine or Dusk’s or even my daughter or her mate.” Aurora said. “No, I couldn’t, I’m not like my sister, I almost died last time I did that,” Syl responded. “Speaking of, can you find her and demand she return to her mate?” Aurora asked. “She’s blocking my readings or is in a place that I can’t reach,” Syl said. “Maybe she’s trapped somewhere then.” Aurora said. “She would have sent a call that I could read.” Sylvia said. “A mon doesn’t willingly leave their mate.” Aurora countered, “especially not for this long.” “I know, there must be a reason…” Syl said. “She better be back by next month and permanently stay with Night or else if not, I swear when I get my paws on her she’s going to regret disappearing in the first place, regardless of her reasoning,” Aurora said. “Aurora, you can’t put a paw on her, you physically can’t,” Syl responded. The umbreon was just confused at what was happening, so they left. “I know, but I will use my words to make her regret ever disappearing especially for this long ESPECIALLY without any explanation.” Aurora replied. “You and me both.” Sylvia said, going up to Shadow and snuggling him to provide comfort. “Anyways…” Aurora said.”What was it like being in a dead person’s mind?” she asked. “Boring, you know how I said what the past year was like for me? Yeah, multiply that by fifty, at least,” Syl responded.
A few hours later.
Shadow’s nose had been bleeding for the past hour now, the rest of the group that is currently awake besides Night of course seeing as he’s busy with whatever is happening with him, was hoping the effects of the blast would wear off soon. The door opened and Night came in with a package, but Night looked different, “Hey Eclipse, you asked for help, I got you guys something, you’ll need it,” Night said, the umbreon from before came from the back and gasped, “Is that?” She asked. “It is, do you need me to help? I’ll be happy to, after the fragments disabled them all,” Night said. Aurora went over to Night. “Do you not care about Shadow at all or do you not see what’s happening with him right now?” Aurora scolded and forcefully moved his head so he was looking at Shadow's face. “Mom, what gives you the idea that I didn’t know he was here, why do you think I came here first?” Night asked. Sylvia chuckled a little, “sorry, heard something from the Duat, or Ma’at, whatever you call it.” Sylvia said. “And how am I supposed to know you came here first without bringing anything that could possibly undo the effects in which the blasts YOU sent out caused,” Aurora said. “Because the other hospitals’ packages are still outside,” Night said, going to the back and starting to open the package and set it up. “How was I supposed to know that?” Aurora asked. Sylvia gasped when she saw what Nightmare had put together, “Is that a Psychic Diffuser?” She asked. “A psychic what now?” Aurora asked. “A Psychic Diffuser, it temporarily disables all psychic fields, barriers, and sensors, it will reset the psychic field and allow the psychic readers to come back,” Night explained, “now, it will activate in ten minutes, the entire building will reset, but I got to get to the other hospitals.” Night then left again.
After some time
Shadow woke with a groan, his head pounding. “Why does it feel like I was hit by a train?” He asked. “In a sense, you were,” Sylvia said, nuzzling him. “Hey hun.” Shadow said, nuzzling back and then kissing her. Sylvia kissed back, “I love you.” “I love you too but is Dawn okay?” Shadow asked. “She is, do you really expect me to leave her unsafe?” Sylvia asked. “No of course not!” Shadow answered. “Then why did it cross your mind, wondering where she is?” Sylvia asked. “That too.” Shadow replied. “She’s with Violet, Violet doesn’t seem to mind taking care of her for some reason,” Sylvia said. “Because she has been for the past year, I asked her to before I killed myself.” Shadow said. “Oh, that makes sense, but, why, she hates you, Violet, I mean,” Sylvia said. An umbreon walked past the door and asked, “Is everything okay in here?” “I mean if you were the last mon to talk to even a mon you hated as they died, wouldn’t you want to honor those dying wishes?” Shadow asked Sylvia. “Depends, and yes, everything is fine in here,” Sylvia said. The other umbreon nodded and closed the door, leaving them be. “Violet thinks I am self-centred, and I am starting to think she’s right.” Shadow told her. “Just a little, hon, just a little, but it is self preservation,” Sylvia said. “Still, she wouldn’t hate me for that if it was just ‘self-preservation’ “ Shadow said. “To be honest, she never spoke with hatred about you, only jealousy,” Sylvia commented. “Jealous? She, again, has no reason to be jealous of me.” Shadow said. “Just stating what I see slash hear,” Sylvia said. “Who the hell is Slash?” Shadow asked, accusatory. “It is an ‘and’ word, shadow,” Sylvia said, shaking her head a little. “Sorry, I just woke up after whatever the hell happened and my head is pounding, I am having a hard time thinking straight.” Shadow said. “You were out for about eight hours,” Sylvia said. “That explains it.” Shadow said getting up and walking slowly on shaky legs. Sylvia sood beside him, ready to help if needed. Shadow’s head was hurting badly, he was moving slowly because of it. “I’m right here if you need me,” Sylvia said. “I know hun.” Shadow replied. “I know that you know, it just makes me feel better,” Sylvia said. “Oh okay” Shadow said and went through the room’s door. “You're up, that’s good, only 43 minutes since the system was set up, that’s good to know,” A jolteon said. As he said that Shadow collapsed from the headache but remaining conscious. “Shit,” the jolteon came around the counter and checked Shadow, “How are you feeling?” “My head feels like I was hit by a train.” Shadow answered. “Well seeing what the blasts did to Des, you kinda were,” The jolteon replied. “My headache is keeping me pinned to the ground.” Shadow told him, struggling, and failing, to get up. “That is right, we were told to turn it off after thirty minutes,” the jolteon turns it off, “in about a minute, the effects will wear off.” “I don’t think it has anything to do w-with th-the thing y-” Shadow was cut off by his headache getting so bad that it knocked him out. “Fuck, what the hell is it now?” The jolteon asked. “Side effect of the blasts, more specifically caused by all those seizures and his sinuses bleeding for an entire hour.” Aurora answered. “I KNOW,” the jolteon screamed. Shadow was placed back in the room by the jolteon and a leafeon. Sylvia sat back in the chair and waited.
Some hours later.
Shadow woke up slowly, his headache still there but not as severe as when he first woke up. Night was sitting in a chair, asleep, same with Sylvia on the other side of the room. Shadow looked over to them, it was midnight. Something moved beside Shadow. Shadow looked to see who it was. It was just a black figure with red eyes. Shadow made his rings glow so he could see what it was. “Oh, I didn’t mean to wake you, I just got here, heard you were here,” the familiar cat said. You again… and don’t you mean you heard Night was here?” Shadow asked. “No, I meant you, Shadow,” Blackflame said. “Uhuh, sure you are, so, why come see Night? He’s completely fine.” Shadow asked. “Am I not allowed to see you after ten moons?” Blackflame asked, “It was only a day, and of course you can see him.” Shadow said. “I’m not speaking of Night, I’m speaking of you.” Blackflame said. “And I’m Arceus.” Shadow said sarcastically. You don’t want to be me a voice sounded through the room. “Trust me, you don’t, he let me do for one day, and it was hell, I don’t know how he does it,” Blackflame said. “I was being sarcastic, basically I don’t believe you.” Shadow said. “Oh, that makes sense. But I am truthful, I swear on my life,” Blackflame said. “Sure. Don’t worry it’s fine, I know you were only here to see Night, you don’t need to lie to me to protect my feelings.” Shadow said. “I can talk to Night at any time, I have no need to see him, but I have started to understand you better in the past seven moons,” Blackflame said. “It’s only been a day since you went home.” Shadow said. “And you can stop lying to me.” “For you, it has been a day, but for me, it was seven moons. Time works differently in different universes,” Blackflame said. “Then upon arriving here you’d have become younger and arriving there, well, you’d become older, in other words your age would adjust itself to match the line’s time.” Shadow said. “Not exactly, seeing as I wasn’t born of this line, time here doesn’t affect me, nor does it alter me, and I am constantly in the other world, I just have the mental control to do the ‘in two places at once’ thing,” Blackflame said. “Anyways as you can see Night is currently asleep. He’ll definitely be asleep if not for the next hour but in the mor-” Shadow cut himself off when he saw Night slowly open his eyes. “And the mon you came to see is now awake so never mind,” Shadow said. “I didn’t come to see him, though it is nice to, I was after you, I had a vision, a vision that I will not repeat twice,” Blackflame said. “Yousaywhatnow?” Night asked, still groggy. “Also Night while I was unconscious, I don’t know how but I had a vision of Terra, let’s just say she’s busy saving another universe.” Shadow said, “Also I had a vision of the future, you Night are to build a massive ship called the armada, run by both Ada and Valhalla.” Night blinked a few times, then pulled a small tablet from nothing and showed Shadow blueprints of a giant machine, “This?” he asked. “Yup.” “You created it after learning from me just now that it worked and after learning frome me, again, just now, where Terra was, you built it to get to Terra to get her back.” Shadow said, “At least that’s what I was shown.” “I have been planning this for a while, both AIs are excited and even offered to help any way they could,” Night said. “May I help?” Shadow asked. “Unfortunately, I don’t think you can, unless you can build circuitry so advanced, I had to make it myself,” Night said. “You’d be surprised how educational books, even your subconscious, can be.” Shadow said, snapping his dactylies, simultaneously teleporting Sylvia onto the bed in the lab remake in his dreamscape and teleporting everyone else to where the armada is being constructed. “Hello, Shadow,” A familiar computer system said. “Hello Ada.” Shadow said, “I assume the ship is about 25% complete excluding the entirety of the hull.” “From the last time Night has checked in, the exterior has been completed and half the inside, minus tech, for some reason, he doesn’t want us to see it,” Ada replied. “Give me half a day, this is going to be fun.” Shadow said, cracking his dactylies and grabbing all the necessary tools to build the tech needed, infinite power power grid and such. “Shadow, you can do the rest of the ship, but I will do the control room, don’t even enter that area,” Night said. “Okay,” Shadow said. “Hey Nightmare, been a while since we last made contact, I hope the blueprints I drew up are working out so far.” A umbreon with a red scarf said, coming from the door behind them. “They ae doing wonderfully, thank you Scar, you didn’t have to do this, and as agreed, we will find your mate, after Terra is returned to us, I promise,” Night said, bowing his head in respect. “Oh I just draw blueprints just for fun.” Scar, the scarfed umbreon, said. “You say that, then this happens,” Night said, looking at the beast, “The field generators and scanners are on the outside, yes?” Night asked, as confirmation. “Yes.” Scar said. “Okay, hey Ada, may we head inside the Andromeda?” Night asked. “I hope you don’t mind, but I have been calling it the Armada,” Ada replied. Night looked at Shadow, “It fits,” Night said. “Told you.” Shadow said. “You did, but I didn’t dismiss it as nothing, did I?” Night asked. “No.” Shadow said. The group was warped aboard, minus Blackflame, he went home. Shadow got right to work, moving even faster than Night, or anyone really, could hope to when it came to working on tech or building period. “Okay, feel free to take a look around, but please don’t break anything, it was hard enough to get all the steel for this,” Night said, walking off.
Back at the bar, after Shadow passed out again.
“I hope he’s okay.” Dusk said. Lilly and comet were asleep next to each other. “Knowing the Chansu family, he will be,” Clarice said. “His headache knocked him out a second time, other than that he’s fine.” Aurora said, entering the café. “Yeah, so I heard,” Clarice said, cleaning a glass. “So what drinks do you serve?” Aurora asked, sitting at the bar. “Smoothies, teas and I dabble a little in coffee,”Clarice said. “What kind of teas?” Aurora asked. “Herbal, berry, green, black, and one that I can’t for the life of me remember, but it’s rare for anyone to want it,” Clarice said, going to another glass. “If the last one is most relaxing then sure.” Aurora said. “It’s not, not by any means,” Clarice chuckled. “Then I want whichever is most relaxing.” Aurora replied. Clarice set the glass down and went to the machines on the back wall, pulled a drawer in the bottom out, grabbed a can from it and put a little in the top, and pressed a button on it and it started to sizzle as Clarice went to grab the glass she cleaned and put it under a spout, then returned to the counter, “It’ll be a few moments before it is ready,” Clarice said, “on the house.” "No I should pay you, it's only proper." Aurora replied. “It’s fine, really,” Clarice insisted, focusing on the glass and not Aurora after she said that. "I insist." Aurora replied. “No,” Clarice rejected. “It’s only fair, besides, I kind of owe you.” Aurora said. “For what?” Clarice asked. “Helping my son by helping get him onto Dusk’s back.” Aurora answered. “That isn’t anything, You don’t understand how often that happens, the spiciest smoothie I have, many think they can take it, but they can’t,” Clarice said, raising her head a little. “But Shadow dealt with the seizing because of those blasts.” Aurora said. “I seriously froze his paws to the ground to make sure he didn’t hurt himself or others,” Clarice said, starting to put the cleaned glasses back. “You also helped get him onto Dusk’s back, so you did two things, so, I do owe you for the tea at the very least, so, how much does it cost?” Aurora asked. “I told you, it’s on the house,” Clarice said. “I insist.” Aurora said, grabbing some poke. “No, I refuse to take it,” Carice repeated. “No, you earned it.” Aurora argued. “Now I see where Shadow gets his stubbornness.” Dusk said, chuckling. “A bit, yeah,” Clarice agreed. Aurora grabbed 50 poké and handed it over to Clarice. “Just take it.” “No, if you insist on putting money somewhere, put it in a charity or something,” Clarice said, once again refusing the money. “Fine, tip jar it goes because either way you are getting paid.” Aurora said, putting it in the tip jar. “Fine,” Clarice said, giving up. “Anyways, the tea almost done?” Aurora asked. Something beeped behind Clarice, “It’s done,” She said, turning around as the machine put a liquid in the cup under the funnel. “Which tea is it?” Aurora asked. “It’s a black tea that I don't offer till after nine o’clock,” Clarice said. “A.m. or p.m.?” Aurora asked. “PM,” She replied. “It’s only 6p.m.” Aurora said. “In a different part of the world, but it’s 8:58 here,” Clarice said. “Not at all it is, as a matter of fact, 6pm here, not elsewhere.” Aurora said. “Do you want it or not?” Clarice asked. “If it’s the most relaxing thing you have here and besides, why waste it?” Aurora asked. “Then it’s nine till you are done, okay?” Clarice asked, setting the glass in front of Aurora. Aurora grabbed it and started drinking it. “It’s gonna knock you out in an hour, thus why it’s called ‘Sleepy time’ tea,” Clarice said, “I asked for relaxing not sleepy, but oh well, besides it was good.” Aurora said. “Sleep is the best relaxer,” Clarice said. “Relaxing you know, calm your nerves, like how hot cocoa, or apple cidabove me when you look at me, I may disable this feature till I work it out, but I need to see if it works,” Night said. “What am I looking for exactly?” Shadow asked. “A name tag,” Night said. “Well I saw one when I looked at you.” Shadow said. “So I assume only 3 mon have clearance, you, and the two AI in the armada.” Shadow said. “You and Scar as well, Shadow, and you seeing the name tag is good,” Night said. "But I didn't help build the interface." Shadow said. “The ship, shadow, not the interface, the ship,” Night said. “I thought you meant the interface because we were talking about it and then you said ‘those who helped build it’ have clearance, since the last thing we were talking about before you said that was the interface I thought you were saying ‘those who helped build the interface has clearance to use it’ rather than the ship.” Shadow explained. “Makes sense,” Night said, “Ada, cut power.” The room faded back to it’s normal look. “So I guess this means that the ship is finished.” Shadow said. “Just two chips off of being completed, and I have one of them,” Night said, holding a fire red computer chip. “Then what about the other one?” Shadow asked. “The other is a leaf green color,” Night said, Ada’s chip, Night explained further. “Ah.” Shadow said, “where do you think you can find one?” “Main server room, the one place Ada can’t see in the facility,” Night said, “Could you go get it?” “Okay.” Shadow said and left the room. Night pulled out a key and put it in a terminal, turning it and pulling the entire drive reader out. “Good so far,” Night whispered. Shortly after, Shadow returned with the computer chip. “Here it is.” “Put it in here,” Night said, still holding the reader. Shadow did as instructed. Night slid the reader and chip into the wall, turned the key to lock it in place and pulled the key out, making the wall look solid like nothing could be removed. A leafeon with a flower in it’s hair appeared on the podium. It began to look around the room, curious, “hmm…” She hummed. “That is… interesting.” “Sure is, Shadow,” The leafeon said. “I need to put Valhalla in as well,” Night said, pressing the key into a different part of the wall and pulling out another drive reader and putting the red chip in it, then locking it back. A flareon with fire wings at his sides appeared in front of the window. “Well, this is quite a sight,” he said. “The hell?” Shadow questioned, confused. “I’m Valhalla, Shadow, we met once,” the flareon said. “I’m going to open the port and enable power,” Night said, heading off to do so. “I met an AI named Valhalla, not some, hologram? I assume? Of a mon I’ve never met before.” Shadow said. “I am that Valhalla, Shadow,” It continued. “Sorry what?” Shadow asked, confused. There was an echoing boom and the sound of many things firing up, being tested inside the Armada. “What’s that?” Shadow asked. “A full system test,” Valhalla said. “Oh.” Shadow replied. “Also all we need is some, more physical, form for you and it can make things even more efficient to make sure things on the outside are running smoothly, Ada can easily make sure everything is fine on a more, virtual level.” Shadow suggested. “I don’t need to have one, I control the movement of the Armada, and all exterior modules, Ada does internal things,” Valhalla said. The entire Armada shook. “We’ve been released from the hanger,” Valhalla explained. “Okay, it would be good to get teleporters on board so that the family can come and go as they please, maybe give them a device unique to themselves where if the device’s button is pressed it only teleports the one that the specific device is assigned to, to the armada. And then have teleporters on board that will teleport anyone that enters it just outside the den, I say anyone because what if an inhabited world is going to end up destroyed? then we could easily save the majority of them.” Shadow explained. “Done, they just need their devices,” Valhalla said, missing that last part. “Done as in it was already planned, or you just made them because if you just made them then that was quick.” Shadow replied. “Preplaned, I knew about the off-planet research facility for about a year and a half,” Valhalla said. “What off-planet research facility? What are you even talking about?” Shadow asked. “I wasn’t supposed to speak of that, forget that I said anything about it,” Valhalla said. “What else does Night have going on that I don’t know about?” Shadow asked. “He doesn’t know of it either, I had accidentally picked up a transmission to and from the base,” Val said. “Ah.” Shadow said, “So you mean another lab?” Val said nothing as Night walked in, “Val, we ready to head up?” Night asked. “Yes sir,” Val responded, continuing to look out the window. “Where’re we going?” Shadow asked, giving Val a look that read you have to tell him at some point, preferably before he discovers it on his own. “Up and out,” Night said, nodding to Valhalla. There was a roar from outside of the engine firing as the mech beast lifted out of the hanger. “Woah.” Shadow said, losing his balance a little but getting it back. Night was standing, paws apart. “Why are you standing like that?” Shadow asked. “Balance,” Night said as they landed on the grass around the hangar opening. “Ah.” Shadow replied. Night stood normally after they landed. “So what now?” Shadow asked. “Valhalla, head to the den,” Night said. “You do realize he’s only a hologram at the moment right?” Shadow asked. The Armada began to move, seeming to walk. “Oh that’s what you meant by that.” Shadow said. “Yep,” Night said. “This has been a long day, hasn’t it?” Shadow asked, stretching. “Room 14B,” Ada said. “Hm?” Shadow questioned, “What was that about?” “Ada assigned a bedroom to you, put your eye piece on,” Val said. Shadow put it on. There was a black line going from where Shadow stood to outside the room and turning out of view. “What’s that?” Shadow asked. “It’ll lead you to your room, you can change how it looks in the settings menu,” Ada spoke. “What settings menu?” Shadow asked. “Swipe your paw in the air, up to down,” Night instructed. Shadow put his paw up and swiped down. Four white dots appeared in the air in front of Shadow, the top had three black lines, the second had a bag, the third was blank, the last was a cog. “Uhhh.” Shadow said, moving his paw to the top one, “I guess I’ll go through these four things until I find what I’m looking for.” as his paw went through it, two smaller white dots came out of it to the left, side by side, as it spun. The first looked like a message outline, the second had three symbols ‘</>’. “Make that six.” Shadow said as he moved his paw to the center one. A bar came down and spread out from the that, there was one name one the list under it. “Seems like you found some texting options, it’s just me right now, as there is no one else registered,” Night said. “The hell is texting?” Shadow asked, now moving his paw to the thing with the three symbols. “It allows one to ‘speak’ to one that they physically cant’ at the moment,” Nightmare said. The list that was there disappeared and was replaced with a black screen with a slash on it and a keyboard under that. “Prompts, if there is something that you can’t do in the menu, type it there, Ada will process it and make it happen, if you can do it, that is, otherwise, there will be an error message,” Night explained. “Coding situation huh?” Shadow asked, “Also don’t we have a neural link? There is no point in the message thing.” Shadow said, moving his paw to the option with the bag. “Me, yes, but there will be others that you don’t have a link with,” Night said. The two small dots returned to the three lines and disappeared, then a large box of boxes appeared with one message in it, ‘no items.’ “the hell are items?” Shadow asked, moving his paw to the white dot. “Things, like a rock or a berry or even an artifact,” Night said. “I have all my artifacts back at home hidden.” Shadow said. “Also this thing doesn’t do anything” he continued putting his paw through the white dot repeatedly since it didn’t do anything the first time. “The third one is customizable,” Night explained, “Default is nothing.” “Oh.” Shadow said moving his paw to the only other option he hadn’t tried. A series of small dots came out, one with a color wheel, another with an arrow, and many others. “Oh come on! This’s going to take days to find what I’m looking for!” Shadow exclaimed in irritation. “The arrow, that is the trail options,” Night said. “What about the colorful thing?” Shadow asked as he moved his paw to the arrow. “That changes the panel colors for you,” Night explained. All other dots disappeared as a small window appeared, there were options of how long in front of oneself the trail will start and stop, the look of it and what it can be. Shadow changed the trail’s color to a deep blue. “That’s better.” Shadow said with content. “I have mine set to look like my void side, you?” Night asked. “A deep blue.” Shadow said, “If I could have two colors on it I would.” “it’s possible if you change the style of it,” Night informed him. “Whatever, I’d probably prefer the den anyways.” Shadow replied. “But you can’t always be at the den, I’m going to be traveling a lot, now, trying to find Terra,” Night explained grimley. “Well, the Armada does have teleporters, and I am pretty sure Val here made little devices for the family to teleport onto the armada with.” “To, yes, but from? No, it’s going to be hard when in warp space,” Night said. “From yes, Val said we do when I suggested it and suggested having teleporters on board to teleport anyone to the den.” Shadow said. “To the armada and from the armada, shadow, not the den,” Night clarified. “The devices literally allow them to teleport from literally anywhere onto the armada no matter where they or the armada is.” Shadow said. That is true, but if we are in hyperspace and they try to teleport out, the outcome is less than happy,” Night explained. “Oh.” Shadow said. “Yeah, anyway, your room is waiting for you,” Night said. “Like I said, for now I prefer the den, I can come to the armada when you are about to leave, or really at any time.” Shadow said. “Oh, and if you try to call the menu when outside the armada, there is only one option, ‘warp to Armada,’ it’s just a picture of a ship,” Night said. “Okay.” Shadow said. Night left the room and turned right to go down the hall. Shadow waited for the armada to arrive at the den. It only took ten minutes for the Armada to reach the den and settle down. “We’re here,” Valhalla said. Shadow heard a beep from somewhere and saw an exclamation mark in front of him. “Good.” Shadow said, paying no attention to it mainly because he was too tired to ask, “Val, you’ll have to tell night about the off-planet area at some point, or he’ll end up discovering it on his own, either way, just like with me, you can’t keep a secret forever.” Shadow said and then left and went to his room in the den and lied down, putting up a barrier in front of his room again as a way to keep Dawn away, this is the start of me pushing her away I suppose. He thought sadly and sighed sadly. Dawn put her paw on the barrier and mewed. “I know you wish to be with him, honey, but he doesn’t want to be around others,” Violet told Dawn. Dawn looked at Violet expectantly, obviously wanting violet to take the barrier down. “I don’t want to do that again, Dawn of the morning sun, he didn’t like it last time, I don’t want to become cinders,” Violet said. Dawn purred at what Violet called her.et said. I wouldn’t have this barrier up normally but it’s the only way I’m going to push her away, she deserves someone better, someone that isn’t me, not like I deserve her anyways, Violet was right about that part, besides Dawn has her, she doesn’t need me, she has Violet. Shadow thought, trying to make himself feel less sad about it but ultimately failing. He started feeling a bit hungry so he got up and left the room, having to try way too hard to ignore Dawn upon leaving and then entering the kitchen. “You are being a dick, Shadow,” Violet told him telepathically. “It’s the only way I can push her away…” Shadow replied sadly. “Maybe someday she won’t know I’m her father, that’d be better for her, as you said before I don’t deserve her anyways. It’s better for her that she stays away from me, I don’t know why she still tries going to me, why, why she doesn’t understand she should stay away from someone as bad as me… I’m doing this because I care, I’m doing this out of family love.” “I’m aware, but you don’t have to be such a dick and ignore her existence,” Violet replied, taking Dawn to the dining room-ish area. “Ignoring her is the only way… I hate doing this to her but it’s better for her.” Shadow replied grabbing some berries, Dawn pawed at Shadow, he closed his eyes, silently crying and then ran back to his room putting the barrier back up, Dawn started to cry loudly, waking Dusk and Aurora up. She really wanted, no, needed her father. “Hey, Dawn, it’s okay, I know you want him, but he doesn’t want to see mon,” Violet said, nuzzling Dawn. Aurora came out of the side cave with all the bedrooms, sleepy, “What? Is that Dawn again?” She asked. “Yeah, Shadow just walked by her and acted like she didn’t exist,” Violet explained, trying to calm the crying ‘vee. “Lemme guess, trying to push her away?” Dusk asked. “She needs him but you easily convinced him she’s better off without him being in her life.” “How? I’m trying to help him reach her, but it seems to me like he doesn’t want anything to do with her,” Violet replied, finally managing to get Dawn to sleep. “It’s what you told him last year, the day he died.” “The day that he told me to take care of her, how could I forget?” Violet asked, “and no, I didn't speak of Dawn to him, knowing it would only make him resent himself more.” “You told him he didn’t deserve her despite the fact he already felt she was better off without him that day.” Dusk told her. “As I said, I spoke nothing of her, other than to promise to take care of her,” Violet said, levitating the sleeping Dawn to the couch. “You forgot what it was you said then” Dusk said and then showed her Shadow’s memory of her saying that he didn’t deserve her. Violet thought back on that day, searching for something as she sat next to Dawn, being careful not to wake her. “Remember now?” Dusk asked. “No, I don’t. It was over a year ago, Dusk,” Violet whispered. “I literally showed you his memory of the event, you’re a pure psychic type you can use your psychic abilities to easily scan across all your memories, even forgotten ones.” Dusk replied. “That’s not how it works and you know it,” Violet responded. “It is, I’ve done it.” Dusk countered. “I can only see what the ‘mon remembers, nothing less, nothing more. I can’t time travel,” Violet said. “No, not time travel, searching across your memories.” Dusk clarified. “If it isn’t remembered, it can’t be seen, I know how it works better than you, Dusk, I do it more than you think,” Violet said, a hint of melancholy in her voice. “For you maybe, but I can see forgotten and remembered memories because all memories are stored somewhere in your brain, remembered or not, I have seen forgotten memories.” Dusk told her. “Then you are looking into their past, not their memories,” Night said, walking in. “There is no big discerning difference between the two, memories are created from past experiences, therefore they are the same but at the same time, different.” Dusk said. “Dad, where have you been?” Violet asked. “Why don’t you come look?” Night asked, leaving the cave again. Violet followed, Interested. Dusk brought Dawn into Shadow’s room, stepping through the barrier as if it were air, putting her against Shadow, as soon as he did she looked more at peace, Dusk then left to see what it was Night had to show them. Aurora followed Dusk outside, stopping when she saw the giant thing the Violet was marveling at. “Woah.” Dusk said. “Yeah,” Violet and Aurora said at the same time, not even laughing when they realized that they had done so. “C’mon! What are we waiting for?! Let’s go in!” Dusk exclaimed, running to the only obvious entrance. “Wait, Dusk, you need something first,” Night said, his left forepaw disappearing. “What is it?” Dusk asked. Night’s paw reappeared with a few eyepieces in it, “ A record of things, and directions, honestly anything,” Night said, tossing Dusk one. Only now was it apparent that Night had one on, covering his right eye and making it red. Dusk put it on, the eyepiece turning black. “If you swipe your paw, a menu will appear in the direction that you swipe,” Night said, handing an eyepiece to Violet and Aurora. He swiped up. Violet and Aurora did the same. What appeared in front of him was a single white dot with what appeared to be a platform and many rings above it. “Okay then.” Dusk said, taking it off, all the white dots disappearing.. “It gets more interesting when you are on the Armada,” Night said as Violet reached out to nothing, then vanished. Dusk went onto the Armada. Aurora followed him, confused as to what happened to Violet. What they walked into was a large room with many things set up in the middle of it, along the far wall was what looked to be a large and wide door. The left side of the room had a set of stairs and a lift. After a few seconds, a leafeon with a flower in her hair literally appeared from nowhere and asked one thing, “Register?” “What is there to even register for?” Dusk asked Night. “The system, if you don’t, you won’t have access to some of the things on board,” Night explained. “Welcome aboard, captain,” The leafeon nodded to Night. “Like what?” Dusk asked him. “The land and air vehicles, for one, and the other things are simple things. You always have access to teleport on,” Nightmare explained, heading to the stairs. “So what are those ‘simple things’?” Dusk asked. “You’ll see,” Night said, “Hey ada, Warp to main controls,” He continued, disappearing into nothingness. Since Dusk didn’t know what existed on board he started exploring. “Yes, I want to register, what harm is there?” Aurora asked. “Welcome aboard the Armada, Aurora, To finish setup, please console the eyepiece you have on, please enjoy your stay,” Ada said, disappearing. Dusk wandered into the kitchen. “Of course the first room I find is the kitchen.” Dusk said. “Hey Ada, who does the cooking?” Dusk asked. There wasn’t a response. “Okay so that’s not how that works.” Dusk said to himself. The leafeon from before appeared next to him, “Would you like to register?” She asked. “No. Also, I had a question.” Dusk replied. The leafeon disappeared when Dusk said ‘no,’ leaving no option for him to ask his question. “Screw you too then.” Dusk said, leaving the kitchen. It was then that Aurora entered the room, “what’s going on?” She asked. “Ada’s just being a jerk that’s all.” Dusk said. “Uh, not to me, she’s answered the questions I had, and even helped me through the menu here,” Aurora said, pulling the menu up by swiping and turning it to him. “I guess it’s because I’m different, there is no explanation for why she didn’t bother to answer my question. All she did was appear to ask if I wanted to register, I said no because there is absolutely no need to use any kind of vehicle, vehicles are useless.” Dusk said. “Hold on, I now have a question,” Aurora said, watching the leafeon appear in front of her. “There you are you little asshole, now answer my fucking question or fuck off, because then if you don’t you’re useless to me.” Dusk told Ada. Ada seemed to not hear Dusk so he just walked away figuring she’s useless. “Ada, is the question answering program included in registering?” Aurora asked the leafeon. “Yes, a prerequisite of the Question Answering system is registering. Anything else?” Ada asked. “No, thank you,” Aurora said. “My pleasure,” Ada said, disappearing again. “Dusk, I found out why you can’t get your questions answered,” Aurora called, Dusk returned. “Because she’s, no, it’s a worthless hunk of junk?” Dusk asked. “No, it’s because you didn’t register that she can’t answer your questions, I think, what does prerequisite mean?” Aurora asked. “Well all night said you can’t use if you don’t register is vehicles, he said nothing about having questions answered, so without his or Shadow’s confirmation, since they were the original ones to mess with Ada.” Dusk said. “He said some other things as well, I registered to be able to have access to all of it,” Aurora said. “Yes but he wouldn’t specify so I guess he was just messing around.” Dusk said. “You have been around enough to realize that he doesn’t mess around with those things,” Aurora said. “Then he was lying if he wasn’t joking. Because if he wasn’t he would’ve specified when prompted.” Dusk said. “Maybe he couldn’t remember at the time,” Aurora said. “To any that want to get off here, we will be leaving in twenty minutes,” a voice said over the intercom. “He could’ve said the ones he did remember, he was the one that set it up.” Dusk said. “Ada, what are the systems with the prerequisite of registering?” Aurora asked, Ada appearing next to her with a few screens next to her. “You will find a full list of all systems available from registering in the info tab of your settings menu,” Ada said, disappearing again. “Ask her this for me, why the fuck is having questions answered even require you to register?” Dusk said. Aurora was looking through the list already, “because without the registration, she can’t find you in her systems and sees you as an unknown entity,” Aurora read out loud. “Then what if there is just a mere guest on board? They’d have to go through another person to have questions answered, thus rendering her useless if the person already knows the answer.” Dusk said. “Well, they are guests, and it’s the host’s responsibility to care for them,” Aurora said thoughtfully. “Then again they could just register as a guest.” Dusk told her. “Luckily, suggestions can be made by anyone, registered or not, but they are tested through Valhalla, not Ada,” Aurora said. “Who? I feel like I’ve met them before but I’m not entirely sure.” Dusk said. “Ada, please set the next destination to my bedroom, and Valhalla, come see me when you have a moment, please,” Aurora said, leaving the cafeteria. “Ada, I would like to register.” Dusk called, looking up. “Please consult your eyepiece for instructions to register, Dusk,” Ada’s voice told him, but she didn’t appear. Dusk did so. There was a box in front of Dusk with a few empty boxes in it when he put the eyepiece back on. The first line on it asked ‘Prefered name?’ and there was an empty text field next to it. Dusk tapped on the field. When he did so, a cursor started blinking in it and a virtual keyboard appeared under it. Dusk typed his name out and pressed enter then questioned how he knew what the confirm button was. The entire box changed, the keyboard remained, though, and when the box returned, there was three buttons and another question, ‘Prefered gender?’ He tapped the button with the M. The screen changed to a different question, ‘primary color?’ and the keyboard changed to a color picker. “Black of course.” He said, choosing it. ‘Secondary color’ then appeared on the screen. “I suppose white.” He said and picked it. The two colors he chose appeared along with the text ‘is this correct?’ and two buttons on it, one green, the other red. He clicked the green button. ‘Please enter the name of the ones registered that you know on different lines’ the box changed to, the text becoming white while the background became black. There was another text box and keyboard. “What’s this for?” Dusk asked. Another line of text appeared under the original saying: ‘contacts.’ “Oh.” Dusk said. “Hey Ada, does this mean I’m registered?” Dusk asked just to see, if she responds at all then it does, otherwise it doesn’t. ”Yes, it does mean that, also, your room is next to Aurora’s,” Ada replied, appearing next to him. “Why not the same room? Actually scratch that, it would only be the same if both of us agree to it. So, now, the question I had a bit ago, who does the cooking?” Dusk asked. “Unless someone wants to cook, I do,” Ada answered. “Ah, thank you.” Dusk said, taking off the eyepiece. “Of course,” Ada replied, disappearing. Dusk decided to start wandering around again. “Might as well see what the room looks like.” Dusk said, instinctively putting the eyepiece back on. As he did so, a shimmering form of himself beckoned him along. Curious, Dusk followed it. It appeared to be leading somewhere, knowing exactly where it was going. Dusk continued to follow it, curious as to where it was leading him. It turned and walked straight into a door, dissipating. When looking at the door, Dusk saw his name on it. “Oh.” Dusk said and went up to the door, “Now how to get inside.” Dusk thought to himself, feeling the wall with his paws. On the wall was a pad, one word above the numerics, it read ‘set pin’ “Of all the things I’ve seen, this is a bit different than what I’ve seen and I’ve seen some advanced things, this feels a bit… in between advanced and ‘primitive’ “ Dusk said to himself as he set his pin. When that was done a section of wall below it had disappeared, revealing another pad, it looked a bit like the area of desk from the Restoration Chamber room that one had to place a paw to enable a prerecorded message that Nightmare made. “Whatever, I don’t see how Ada would have- oh this is to give her my biometrics for the room, so that only I can open the door from the outside.” Dusk said to himself, placing his paw on it. The door opened. Dusk entered the dark room. He first tried to find the lights, scanning the wall for the switch. Upon hitting it, the lights turned on, the lights cast a purple hue around the room, which had a bed on the back wall, it looked to be a double twin, but Dusk wasn’t sure, though. There was a door next to the bed that supposedly led to a closet. There was a desk across the room from the bed with a physical monitor on it along with a virtual screen to change the colors of something, what that was, it couldn’t be read. The walls were black and the floor a carpet of the same black. Next to the light switch was a virtual dial, on one side, there was a snowflake, the other, a fire, above it, there was a hieroglyph. “I can’t read ancient writing, no one in existence that has come as far as or further than this world can read it, so why the hell is it here? I suppose I could change the marking if I ever happen to learn it.” Dusk said. The hieroglyph was a triangle with a horizontal line running through the middle of it, but not escaping the boundary of the triangle. Dusk just lied down on the bed to see how comfortable it was. “I should specify that without a book on hieroglyphics no one could possibly know which ones mean what.” “Departing,” A voice said over the intercom again. The armada shook a little and then calmed. “I wonder where we’re headed.” Dusk said to himself, he didn’t bother to close the door in case someone either wanted to or needed to talk to him. Aurora knocked on the frame, “May I come in?” “Of course!” Dusk said, sitting up. Aurora entered the room and pressed the button on the inside, closing the door. “How are you taking it?” Aurora asked, seeming bothered by something. “Good, everything alright?” Dusk asked. “It’s just… big, and empty… it doesn’t feel right, and not only that, but it feels like there are others here, we just can’t see or interact with them…” Aurora said. “Maybe for unknown reasons something Night did causes us to feel the presence of, well, spirits in the respective places of their world, of course we wouldn’t be able to interact with them because spirits cannot enter the living world, or maybe another world.” Dusk said. “Maybe it is another world, they definitely feel alive, it’s not Night, hon, I know it,” Aurora said. “The only reason I specified the spirit world was because Night came back to life, what, yesterday? After a year of being dead.” Dusk replied. Aurora sighed, “You are right that his aura changed a little, but these feel nothing like that change.” “Yeah, I don’t really feel it though, but yeah I know how you feel.” Dusk said. “Some can’t feel it, it’s rare for a vaporeon to feel it, of all ‘mon,” Aurora explained. “Yeah, if you need comforting, I'm here for you. Unlike Blaze who seems to hate you all of a sudden, according to you he does anyway.” Dusk said. “Yeah, what did I do to him?” Aurora asked no one in particular. “You never did anything, I guess he was just a jerk in disguise, why Night ever liked him I’ll never know.” Dusk said. There was a knock on the doorframe. “Come in!” Dusk said. When the door opened, Night was standing there, “Just wanting to see who’s still on board,” he said, letting the door close as he left. “Ah, okay.” Dusk said. “Something’s following him, he can feel it, he’s doing what he can to let it not affect him,” Aurora whispered, shivering. “Yeah, maybe we can burn some sage or something.” Dusk said. “That’s not gonna help…” Aurora continued, still shivering. "There's gotta be something." Dusk said. “I know,” Aurora said. “Come on, let’s just lie down and try to ignore it.” Dusk said. “Yeah…” Aurora said, it being obvious that it still bothered her. Dusk pulled her down onto the bed and then held her to try to comfort her. Aurora chuckled, seeming to relax a little, and nuzzled Dusk. Dusk nuzzled back, holding her close. “I love you,” Aurora whispered to her mate. “I love you too.” Dusk whispered to her. Aurora kissed him. Dudk kissed back. Aurora whispered “I want you~” to Dusk seductively. "And you have me." Dusk whispered, gently rubbing her back. Aurora started to purr, “So I do, yes.” He lied there, continuing to provide her comfort. Aurora started to kiss him again, a paw on his chest. Dusk kissed back, putting his paw on the back of her neck, rubbing her back with the other. “Mmm…” Aurora hummed, her body warming a little. Dusk felt this and felt more relaxed. After a while of kissing and just… bonding, they slowly fell asleep together, holding one another in a close embrace.
