Chapter One: Beatrice Sherwood
Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, why is it always crowded? I push my trolly through the crowd and give in to the porter. He loads my trunk into the train and also my cat, Nuit. I give him some sickles and turn back into the crowd. I brush some hair out of my face. I keep my brown-reddish in a long ponytail for now.
Now all I have to do is find a seat on the train. 'Beatrice!' Ginny's clear voice rings through the air and she catches up with me. 'Ginny!' I exclaim happily as I give her a tight but quick hug. She leads me into a compartment of the Hogwarts Express. 'I visited the Burrow, but you weren't there..' Ginny sits me down and looks around. I see George and Fred enter. But not Ron.
'Where is Ron?' I dare to ask her, knowing all too well that he, Hermione, and Harry are in danger. The first time I came to Hogwarts and learned about The Boy Who Lived, the years ahead became quite adventures.
'He and the others are also in the train. I have to say Hi from Ron. We missed you' I nod. 'Yes, and I missed you, Ginny! The summer wasn't the same without all of you' Ginny smiles happily and the train moves.
We are on our way.
'And Thomas?' She asks, referring to my best friend since the first year. 'We met a couple of times. But I haven't seen him today. But he is a prefect, so maybe we see him later' Ginny just nods as an answer and sits back on the couch. I do the same, looking out of the window as the landscape fast changes.
Time flies by and the door opens. 'Anything of the cart dears?' The Trolley Witch asks us. I look at Ginny. Probably aunt Molly has given her something self-made candy. 'Two Chocolate Frogs please' The witch gives me two chocolate frogs and I pay her. 'Have a nice journey!' She calls out as she walks to the next compartment. 'Here Gin' I offer her the chocolate frog. 'Thanks! Mum made me something. But she was so anxious that I don't trust it.' She laughs but the smile doesn't catch her eyes. I lay my hand on her arm. 'Ginny are you alright?' She looks at the closed door and back at me. 'You know, the order of the Phoenix'
'The order my parents-' Ginny nods. 'Yes. But it has to do something with Harry. I can't tell more' She bites her lip and stares out of the window.
Time for a different subject. 'Shall we eat our frogs. I bet mine can jump to the other side of our compartment' Ginny smiles, but I can see that her thoughts are somewhere else. 'On three' We take the box as I count down. 'One, two - three' On three we both open the box and the chocolate frogs jump out. But Ginny's frog jumps the farthest. 'I win!' She says and now I can hear she is with me again. But the thought about them in danger frightens me.
We take the frogs, luckily they can take one jump and that's it. I take a small bite, trying to enjoy the frog as long as I can. Ginny and I look out of the window as the train rides through the grasslands. Thunder sounds and it starts to rain.
'I can't wait until we arrive at school! I missed everyone so much!' I say. 'And Peter?' Ginny asks. 'He is with Charlie in Romania. He writes and sends his owl or a fire letter every week'
'Charlie does the same' Ginny is silent again, but we enjoy each other's silence. I know Ginny from the moment she was born. Like all the Weasley's. My parents are childhood friends with Molly and Arthur and so they are like family to me. Every summer I spent a few days or some weeks in the Burrow. I swing my Hawthorn wand up and down. 'We are almost there, I think' Ginny states as she looks out of the window. The sky is dark and it feels sinister.
A light knock can be heard and I turn around to the door. 'Thomas!' I exclaim happily as I recognize my best friend. His brown eyes look with excitement at mine. 'Beatrice!' I stand up and embrace him. 'Happy to see you too Ginny!' Thomas says to Ginny who smiles happily at him. 'How was your summer?' She asks him politely as he sits down across us. 'You know, the usual. I met with Beatrice a few times. We had a sleepover at her place' I grin at the thought. We played games in my backyard and tried to make a few potions.. but that didn't go well'
'I have to check on a few other students! I see you at school!' Thomas states and goes on through the hallway of the train. 'A sleepover?' Ginny asks, I shrug. 'Yes, most of the time, I am always at your place. Or you at mine. But because of this year...' Ginny looks sad again. I want to hear her story, but something tells me that Ron knows more. So I dare not to ask further.
The train is slowing down, a sign we are almost there. 'Did you know, I heard some people talking at my parents' house. They didn't want to let their children go'
'To Hogwarts?' I nod at Ginny's answer. 'Yes, their patients are all afraid of You know Who'
'Yes,' Ginny says absently, staring back out of the window.
Okay, now I really have to know what happened and why they weren't at the Burrow this summer.
The locomotive sounds and I hear the breaks. The train slows down and after a short time, we stand still. We are here. At Hogwarts.
