I sat on the sill of my window and sighed quietly. He replayed the events of the day in his head. Jack was one hell of a person... crazy, funny, reckless, nice- let's just say I really liked him.

I knock was heard on the bedroom, I looked back to see his mom watching him from the door frame. He smiled and scooted to one side of the sill, leaving room for his mom.

"How was the first day of summer?" She asked, her voice as soft as silk in the silent night. "It was... unpredictable," I said, she gave me a look that told me to go on.

"I was originally just going to spend the day reading or watching the science channel..." I said.

"Why didn't you?" She asked.

"Ms. Barakat came over. After a while of me bored to death, she took me over to her house to hang out with her son" I said, "His names Jack, he's nice, funny, weird- he can even play the guitar"

My mom smiled, "Wow, he sounds great. And you do have a thing for musicians- Aw you're blushing!" She squealed.

I laughed, "MOM! You know I'm only gay for Billie Joe Armstrong" she nodded, "Who isn't?"

I smiled at her, I'm glad to have this bond with her. The constant jokes and laughs. What could be better than that?

"So you like this Jack?" She asked. I nodded, silently humming along to a song that was previously stuck in my head. "How old is he?" She asked.

"He turns fifteen in June"

"I'm glad you're making friends I. Are you going to see him again?"

"Yeah- I think so"

It soon got quiet, twitches of night creatures were heard. my finally cut off the brief silence, "I should go to bed. Work has been tough lately-"

"What? What's happening? What's new? Did you find anything new?" I jumped at the opportunity. She hid a smirk, "it's just something small. It's probably just something we seemed to overlook, okay?"

"That's not stopping me from shaking, mom. There could be like a black hole or an uncharted star." I said, almost bursting in excitement.

She rolled her eyes, "Get some sleep, space prince" and she crawled back inside the room. Turning off the bedroom lights and walking out in silence. I sighed as she left, I grabbed my phone off the desk to see a notification.

Hey! It's Jack, I may have put your number in my phone... don't think I'm creepy, please!

I smiled looking down at my phone, I quickly put his number into a new contact and texted him back.

Hi, its Alex but I guess you already knew that.

I typed, then waiting a while before I hear another ding! coming from my phone. Just as I expected, it was him that was texting me. maybe tomorrow I can see him again. Would Ms. Barakat mind that I steal her son for a couple hours? She did say that he didn't have many friends, but I can change that. 

Yeah, I may have said that summer is the season of new friendships and how much crap that is but, I'm quite excited to start my adventure with Jack by my side...
