The Power of Love: Part II
This time Luke didn't stop breathing or nearly die. He was rushed to the medical wing of the castle to be tended to. Lilly didn't leave his side once.
Almost everyone else in the Light Realm celebrated their defeat of the Dark Realm while Lilly waited for Luke to wake up again. Emily and Michael waited with her.
It had only been a couple minutes since Luke had passed out for the second time when a bunch of people flooded into the hospital room.
Serena, Olivia, Nate, Tyler, Jade, and her parents were over joyed to have Lilly back.
"Lilly!" Olivia tackled her friend in a hug. "You're here." She squeezed her tightly. "You're safe."
Olivia was always the one who showed her opinions and feeling easily. The guys on the other hand looked uncomfortable, like they didn't want to show how much they missed her. They were guys after all. Lilly rolled her eyes.
"Oh come here." She told Nate and Tyler who quickly joined in in the hug at Lilly's demand. The friends were reunited. Eventually they broke apart and Jade immediately hugged her sister with her parents close behind.
"We're never letting you go ever again." Mrs. Parker said what was on her and her husband's mind. It lasted a good minute until they broke apart. Lilly had tears in her eyes once more. She glanced at Serena who smiled.
"Mom, Dad, this is Serena." Lilly glanced at her twin. "Your daughter."
Mr. And Mrs. Parker looked confused. "Lilly, what do you mean?" They took a good look at Serena. She looked like Lilly with different colored hair and paler skin. The two remembered the daughter they thought they had lost when Lilly was born. She had been born with dark hair unlike Lilly.
Layla was the one who noticed the necklace Serena was wearing. It was a blue heart shaped locket with the name Serena engraved in silver on it. Mrs. Parker recognized it. She had made it when she discovered that she would be having twin girls. Lilly wore the other one which was red and gold and nearly identical. After Serena had "died" her locket had mysteriously disappeared.
"I ran a fool proof genetics spell on her. Lilly's telling the truth. She's really your daughter." Emily stated.
Mr. Parker and Mrs. Parker believed her. Serena was their daughter. Not only had they gotten Lilly back but they had found their long lost daughter too. They engulfed Serena in a hug. A couple drops of water fell from Serena's eyes, happy that she had a family.
"The only thing that I can't figure out is why she was taken..." Emily muttered.
"Taken?" Lilly asked.
"She clearly didn't die and babies don't just travel from realm to realm. She must have been taken." Emily turned to Mr. Parker who had just released his long lost daughter from a hug. "You were from the Dark Realm, correct?" Mr. Parker nodded. "Was there anyone who hated you there? Enough to want to destroy your life?" Emily asked.
Mr. Parker nodded again. "The Dark Realm's royalty hated me for the last couple months I lived there."
"Like Max's father, King Zander?" Emily asked. She clearly had done her research.
Mr. Parker shook his head. He looked hurt at the name. Serena looked astonished. "King Zander wouldn't do that. He was always very kind to me."
"Zander and I were actually friends." Mr. Parker told them. Friends wasn't exactly the truth. "That's how I knew his parents. King Natic hated me. I was always getting into trouble and helping Zander get into trouble too. Natic thought I was a disappointment to the entire realm. When he discovered I had betrayed the Dark Realm by falling in love with Layla that was the last straw. He banished me. If anyone had a reason to do something like that it would be him."
They were all shocked to discover this new information about Mr. Parker. Emily nodded believing it might have been the old King but she had no proof so she dropped it. Some things couldn't be solved.
"It's getting late. We should probably head to bed. King Eric has supplied rooms for everyone. We all need our rest." Layla told the room. She was extremely happy that she gotten her daughters back. "We'll go home when Luke wakes up and is well enough to travel."
The teens made their way towards the door, everyone besides Lilly. Jade noticed and spoke up.
"Lilly, aren't you coming?" She asked. Jade already knew the answer though. Lilly was watching Luke, clearly still worried.
"I'm not leaving Luke, not again."
There was nothing anyone could do to change her mind. They quietly left the room leaving the two alone.
Luke had been cleaned up. Blood no longer stained his lips or chest. They had managed to stop the blood flow. He was still sore though.
Lilly stayed there all night. An hour after everyone had left Layla had checked up on her, bringing with her a blanket. Lilly refused to let herself sleep. So much had happened in such little time. She had found out Serena was her twin, Luke had fought Max and had been struck down, she had defeated Max, and she had realized her feelings for the boy next door. It had been a busy day.
She didn't understand it. How could she have been so oblivious not to realize it sooner. She had always had these feelings for Luke but she had never realized them. How oblivious was she?
Lilly checked the time. It was five in the morning. Hours had passed since her friends had been in here.
A pair of eyes slowly opened once more. Lilly smiled at him. He was finally awake. He looked exhausted.
"I had the weirdest dream." Luke said in a groggy tone.
"Oh yeah?" Lilly asked.
"Yeah, I was impaled with a sword and then you kissed me. Weird, huh?" He smiled slightly.
"Luke, that was no dream. Don't you remember what happened?"
Luke sat up. A sudden pain hit his chest. It hadn't been a dream. He hadn't even realized he was in a hospital room of sorts. Memories flooded his mind. Lilly had actually kissed him! He suddenly remembered what had caused him to pass out.
He stared at her, his eyes wide. "You're- you're in love with me?" He asked, not able to believe it.
Lilly nodded. "I understand that you probably don't feel the same way, but can we still-"
Luke grabbed her with his hands on the sides of her face and pulled her in to a passionate kiss. This time his mouth wasn't full of blood and he wasn't taken by surprise. Lilly on the other hand was. After a few seconds she melted into it. Luke ran his hands down to Lilly's waist and pulled her closer. Lilly ran her hands through his hair. To Luke she tasted like vanilla and he loved it. Eventually they broke apart.
"Lilly, I have been in love with you for years." Luke confessed.
"You have?" Lilly asked shocked.
Luke nodded. "Everyone except you knew. Even your parents. I was going to tell you that when we went to Paris. That's what I was trying to tell you. I love you, Lilly." He smiled. It felt great to be able to say those words.
Lilly grinned. "I love you too, Luke." It was even better to hear those words reciprocated back to him.
Luke reached for her hand but realized that there was something silver in his own. He was wearing the silver ring. He looked at Lilly's and saw the golden ring. His grin broadened. It was true love, like Emily said, because he truly loved her and she truly loved him. That was how she could be here with him right now. He had quite a few questions like what happened to Max, but he decided to save them for later.
He grabbed her hand in his own. An orange glow shown through the window symbolizing that the sun was rising. Lilly looked at their intertwined hands then up at Luke. Sea blue eyes met emerald green.
"That was some adventure, wasn't it?" Luke asked, grinning. Everything was perfect. He had survived to see another day, he had Lilly, and Max wouldn't be bothering them anymore. Life was good.
"Yeah, hopefully our next one doesn't get you so close to death." Lilly said.
"Our next one? You want to go on more adventures?" Luke wondered. A pink tinge appeared on Lilly's checks. She looked down at her hands and played with the golden ring on her finger.
"Yeah," Lilly paused and looked her best friend in the eyes. "If it's with you."
The two beamed at each other, glad that they had the other and that their adventure was over... For the time being. The two watched the sun rise through the window as a new day began. They felt like they could take on the world as long as the other was by their side.
