In the City of Love (Lilly's Point of View)

Lilly stared at the ceiling of the room the girls were renting. She couldn't sleep. Images of what the mirror had shown her kept repeating over and over again in her mind. Her friends had been murdered. That was her worst fear. Her friends dying... And to make it worse it was all her fault.

She knew that the mirror was trying to trick her, trying to drive her mad. She knew it was fake, but it seemed so real. It was almost as if she had been there in real life watching her friends die in front of her. What was worse was the fact that it could happen. It was completely plausible and that honestly scared her, so she stayed awake.

She heard a knock at the door. She slowly slid out of the covers to answer it but Emily, whose bed was closest to the door, beat her to it. She saw that in the hallway was Luke.

What is he doing here at this hour?
Lilly wondered to herself. She couldn't hear what they were saying as they were whispering in an attempt not to wake up the other girls.

After a surprisingly short conversation Emily closed the door.

"What was that about?" Lilly whispered, just loud enough for Emily to hear.

"I think Luke's a seer. He keeps having these visions, you see. They were driving him crazy wondering about them." Emily whispered back.

"Oh wow." Lilly mumbled.

"I know. It's a lot to deal with at" Emily yawned. "Two in the morning. I doubt it actually registered with him what that actually meant."

"A seer, wow." Lilly mumbled to herself.

The week flew by fast. Friday arrived soon and Lilly was excited for her friends' plans to see the Eiffel Tower, something she had wanted to do her entire life.

At breakfast Lilly noticed Emily pull Luke aside. She wanted to get closer to hear what they were talking about but knew that that was rude and thought better off it.

The taxi ride to Paris seemed to take forever but eventually they arrived in the city of light.

"Hey, we're going to go to the Louvre first." Jade told her older sister.

"That's not really my thing." Lilly said. Luke and Jade smiled. What was that for? Lilly wondered, but didn't ask.

"Well, then do you want to go to the Eiffel Tower with me? It's on your bucket list isn't it?" Luke asked.

"Yeah, it is. You remembered." Lilly smiled. Luke nodded.

"Of course." The two walked down the streets of Paris away from their friends.

After a couple minutes and an elevator ride later they were at one of tower's observation decks.

"Wow, the view is great from up here." Lilly looked out over the city of Paris. It was breathtaking.

"Yeah, I think I'm going to puke." Luke said as he turned away from the sight.

Lilly snorted with laughter at his statement. Out of all the things he could talk about he decides to talk about how the view of the most romantic city in the world makes him want to puke, just because he's high up. That's just like him.

"Out of all the things in the world that's what you choose to say." She laughed again. "Classic Luke." She shook her head.

"At least you find it funny." Luke mumbled.

"Hey, I'm just telling the truth." Lilly smirked. Luke smiled. After a moment Lilly broke the silence. "So you're a seer."

"What?! How did you know?" Lilly could hear the shock in his voice.

"Emily told me. Why didn't you tell me? I thought that we told each other everything?" Lilly said.

"It's not like I didn't want to tell you. I just didn't know what to say or when to bring it up." He had a point there. That's not something that you can just throw into a casual conversation.

"I bet that being a seer is pretty cool. Do you think that you inherited it from one of your parents?" Lilly asked, curiously.

"I don't know. I would probably guess so. It's not like it's just appears out of nowhere. My parents always seemed so... Normal, though." Luke concluded.

"Maybe skipped your parents generation. Like a hidden gene or something." Lilly said, remembering their high school biology class.

"Maybe." Again they stood in silence looking over the city of Paris. Luke was quiet for a while so Lilly choose to break the silence.

"Can you believe that just a month ago we weren't tangled up in all this magic stuff? Sure, we had a little of fun with Emily's tricks but that was never a huge adventure. We're in Paris, France for crying out loud. Crazy, huh?" Lilly speculated. It was overwhelming.

"Yeah, crazy."

"But soon enough it'll be over." She couldn't wait for it to be over.

"Yeah about that. How do you feel about having to find your true love?" Luke asked, awkwardly. Lilly sighed.

"I don't know. I don't need a guy. I just need to get out of this mess. Whatever fixes it I guess." Lilly leaned over the rail, resting her elbows on it.

"Oh... Yeah that seems like you." They went quiet for a couple more seconds.

"Lilly, there's something that I need to tell you." Lilly turned towards him. What could he possibly want to tell me? Lilly started to speculate possibilities to herself.

"Okay, what is it?" She looked him right in his eyes. It was strange to look him directly in the eyes. It was almost like he was hypnotized by her and she was hypnotized by him. She never realized it before but he had really nice eyes. I suppose most people have nice eyes if you directly look at them. Lilly thought to herself. She couldn't ignore the fact that her heart had sped up as she looked in her best friend's eyes. It was electrifying. She could feel her face warm up, slightly.

"I-I-I-" Luke stuttered. Lilly almost smiled at his awkwardness. Classic Luke.

"You?" Lilly asked.

"Are you okay, Luke?" Lilly asked, concerned. Luke's face turned a dark red, rivaling Cecilia's hair.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Lilly didn't believe him, but she encouraged him to continue.

"Go on."

"I-I was going say-" Luke was interrupted by the Star Wars main theme. Lilly smiled. He was such a geek.

"I'm just going continue." Luke said, ignoring his cellphone. Lilly nodded. "Where was I?"

"You have something you want to tell me?" Lilly told him.

"Oh right. Anyway, Lilly, I really-" His cellphone would not stop bugging him.

"Maybe you should get that. It's okay. I can wait." Lilly told him. She smiled politely. Luke picked up his phone and walked a few feet away. He turned his back to Lilly.

Lilly looked out over the city of Paris, waiting. It really was a beautiful sight. It was so serene.

That serenity only lasted for a few seconds. A chill tingled down her spine and she went stiff as she heard a deep, familiar voice whisper in her ear.

"Time's up, princess."
