Chapter 59: Hope
timeskip.
Pranks' POV
I slouched on the couch, rubbing circles comfortingly on Missy's back. It had been almost an hour, and they still weren't back. I am going to actually kill all of them, I really will. I felt a shift on the couch and Missy nuzzle closer to me.
"Pranks..." He muttered between sobs. "W-We need to help him..." "It's far too dangerous. I know it's not the answer we want, but it's not a choice..." I said, pulling him slightly closer to me. "I know..." He choked.
The silence between us was thick, besides the occasional sob or sniffle from Missy. I stood myself up, leaving Missy to curl in on himself. What does he like? What cheers him up...? I reluctantly grabbed two cookies.
I sat back down on the couch and handed him one. He took a moment to respond, before he took it gently out of my hand. I lightly started running my fingers through his hair. I subconsciously would every now and then take a bite of my cookie.
I heard a small noise, and assumed it as one of the things tormenting Virgil. I brushed it off and returned my focus back to the crying boy in front of me. I couldn't help but feel tears trickle down my cheeks. I looked up, averting my gaze from him. I couldn't bare to look at him, it just hurt too much.
Logan, Patton, and Roman both sunk in. "We've returned!" Roman exclaimed triumphantly. Missy and I both rushed over to the three of them. "Roman, please, y-you have to h-help..." Missy said between sobs, gripping onto his arm.
"Why? What's wrong?" He asked softly. "I-It's Virgil..." I muttered, attempting to wipe of a few tears. "W...What happened?" He asked, panic lacing itself in his voice. "I...It's those...things..." I muttered. "The things T-Thomas found..." A face of shock found their ways onto Logan and Patton's faces.
The silence was thick, as if you could cut it with a knife. "W-We have to do something!" Roman exclaimed. "We c-can't just leave him there....!" "Let's r-refit the situation." Logan said, attempting to remain calm. "Now, w-what do you know?"
"It's those...E-Entities.." Missy muttered. There was another silence. Tears rolled down Roman's cheeks. Just the thought of his loved one getting damaged. It must have hurt him so badly...
Roman's POV
"I...I need to see this." I said, rushing over to Virgil's room, with the others quickly following behind. I set my hand on his doorknob, wiggling and jiggling it, trying to unlock it. Dang it, it's locked...
"We have to break the door down." I said. "W-Wha-No! We can't! He's probably already panicked as it is!" Patton exclaimed, tears streaming down his face. "Look, I know, but it's the only way." I said. Logan silently nodded. Patton embraced both Missy and Pranks, who buried their faces in his cardigan.
I kicked at the door, busting it off the hinges at an instance. There he was, on his knees, sobbing into his hands. There were three figures surrounding him, spewing insults left and right. We all rushed over to his side, whispering comforting things and hoping that it would be enough.
He gripped onto me, all breath leaving my lungs. More tears flooded my face. "Virgil, I know it's hard, but I-I promise...it'll be okay..." I whispered softly, gently shushing him. Nothing would work. Nothing.
If I want him to calm down, I need to get these things to shut up. I forcefully pulled myself away from his grasp. "ROM-MAN!" He cried despondently, sinking back down into himself. Patton, Logan, Missy, and Pranks both encased the crying boy, him sobbing and choking on his own tears.
I got back on my knees and gently grabbed his face. "Virgil, I know that this hurts, but you will get through this. I will keep you safe, I promise." Without another word, I turned to the three figures.
They fell silent, all a flabbergasted look on their faces. "Oh look, it's his little boy toy coming to rescue him~" One of them teased. "You shut the {censored} up." I said. I was a intimidated, honestly, but I couldn't show it. If I did, who knows what they'd do.
"Oh, he's using vulgar language! How terrifying~" Another one spoke. "You are weak, I don't even think it's worth fighting us! You won't win, so what's the point in trying?~" One teased. "I am willing to fight. I'll either get damaged and win or die trying!" I proclaimed.
"Oh-ho, the narc is taking a stand." "Even if you do fight us, you'll never win." "Psh, please. Let me take a stab at him." One said.
"Tap? You want to give this poor soul a try?" Tap...that's his name...I stood my ground, my expression not even flickering once. "Whatsamatter? Don't think I can take him, Mars?" Tap said. Mars, one more left. "Of course, I just think Lon and I over here would miss our chance to fight him off." Mars said.
Lon, Mars, and Tap...huh. "Oh you will! I couldn't just keep all the fun for myself ,now, could I?" Tap said. "Fine then. If we're going to fight, I suggest the Imagination. That way, none of us will damage as much." I said, looking at them as if they had just pushed my dog off of a cliff. "Fine then!"
We teleported into the room. A blank, white, room. A big blank, white, room. "Oh-ho, wouldn't want to ruin this nice white color with bloodstains, would we?" Mars teased. "Stop stalling and fight me!" I shouted. They all chuckled among themselves.
"Fine then~" Tap said, the other two disappearing into thin air.
"Let's dance~"
