LANA had done as she had promised and called ahead to the King of Wakanda. He was very understanding of what was going to happen and was willing to have Vision brought to have the stone removed. Lana had greatly thanked him on behalf of the team.
The team had gathered onto the plane and Lana started to fly the jet, with the help of Steve's navigation. When they finally entered the continent, Steve stepped forward and spoke, "Drop to 2600, heading 0-3-0." From the looks of it on the map, it was just clear land with a few mountains. She was seriously sceptical but trusted Steve.
"If you say so," Lana shrugged.
"I hope you're right about this," Sam spoke from behind him as he saw the trees, "Or we're gonna land a lot faster than you want to."
Lana pushed on the accelerator and they quickly approached. Just as they were about to collide a shimmery barrier broke and they were soaring above water.
In the distance stood a large city, beautiful and tall. The bright sun shimmered off the buildings like iridescent diamonds. Steve directed Lana on where to land and she complied.
When it was fully on the ground, the team exited. Lana saw the King standing with his main guard and a few warriors behind them.
"Seems like I'm always thanking you for something," Steve stated jokingly as they shook hands.
From behind the two, Bruce coughed and started to bow.
"What are you doing?" Rhodey asked in confusion.
"Uh, we don't do that here," T'Challa stated, shaking his head. Lana saw Rhodey smile and shook her head lightly at the two, "So how big of an assault should we expect?"
"Uh sir, I think you should expect quite a big assault," Bruce stated as he stepped forward.
"How we looking?" Natasha asked.
"You will have my Kingsguard, the Border Tribe, the Dora Milaje, and..." T'Challa motioned to the side where Bucky walked toward them.
"And a semi-stable 100-year-old man," he smiled. Steve immediately engulfed him in a large hug. Lana smiled. Steve constantly talked about Bucky and was clearly worried about his mental state. Thankfully the Sergeant seemed well.
"How you been Buck?"
"Uh, not bad, for the end of the world," Bucky joked. The King lead them into his building and they rode up the elevator. As it opened they were treated by a young woman who smiled brightly.
"This is my sister, Shuri."
"The tech genius," Shuri added. T'Challa smiled and patted her on the shoulder. She had Vision lay on her work table and took a body scan. Lana was intrigued as to where the scanner was coming from but as she looked closer she noticed it was from a bracelet full of beads. It shimmered with Vibrainium.
A hologram appeared in the plan of her hand and she spoke in awe, "The structure is polymorphic."
"Right, we had to attach each neuron non-squentially," Bruce replied.
She looked at him as if it were obvious, "Why didn't you just reprogram the synapses to work connectively?"
The group stared between the scientist and the girl.
"Because... we didn't think of it," Bruce replied hesitantly.
"I'm sure you did your best," Shuri smiled.
Lana snorted out a laugh but covered it with a cough as they looked at her.
"Can you do it?" Wanda asked worriedly.
Shuri's face dropped into seriousness, "Yes but there are more than two trillion neurons here. One misalignment could cause a cascade of circuit failures," she looked at the King, "It will take time brother."
He nodded.
"How long?" Lana asked.
"As long as you can give me," Shuri responded.
An alarm started to sound and the King's personal guard held up her hand. She flicked a bead into her palm and a hologram of the earth materialised, "Something's entered the atmosphere."
Lana's heart pounded as she felt a grave feeling wash over her. She looked out of the building and watched as a ship crashed against the barrier of Wakanda. She was eternally grateful in that moment that the city was protected.
"We got more incoming outside the dome," Rhodey spoke. He, Sam and Bucky were outside. Lana looked to the other side and saw four more ships crash down. They created a loud thud as they landed.
"It's too late," Vision spoke weakly as he tried to hobble off the table, "We need to destroy the stone now."
"Vision, get your ass back on the table," Natasha snapped turning toward him.
T'challa spoke, "We will hold them off."
"Wanda, as soon as that stone's out of his head... you blow it to hell," Steve stated. Wanda nodded in confirmation as the king passed.
"Evacuate the city, engage all defences. And get this man a shield," he pointed at Steve.
