AFTER, retrieving Sam, the group were on the way to getting Wanda and Vision. Lana was trying to get in contact with them but to no avail. They had caught off all contact which was not exactly helping in this situation.
They were flying over Scotland now, but without their exact location, it was almost impossible to find them. Lana swallowed thickly, as a pulse of magic blasted into her. It was large and painful, almost as if a knife had been jammed into her side.
She clambered to the front, "The train station," she spoke unconsciously. Her powers were directing her more than her head, and for once she was letting them.
"Which one?" Nathasa asked incredulously. She was clearly confused as to her sister's knowledge.
"I don't know. It's close. I can feel Wanda," Lana replied. Natasha shrugged and steered the jet toward the closest train station. A blast of scarlet energy shot from the air and Lana pointed, "There."
Natasha landed the plane and they got out. In the distance, Lana saw Wanda crouched over Vision, before turning as two aliens crashed through the ceiling.
Steve stepped away and stood behind the oncoming train. Lana watched as their attention was pulled toward it. The alien seemed to recognize that they were there though Wanda was confused.
The female threw her spear in Steve's direction, but he caught it. While they were distracted, Sam flew forward, knocking her into a coffee shop.
Natasha and Lana ran forward as he circled back, letting small explosives fly. Steve threw the spear and Natashas caught it, sliding and cutting the male at his leg.
Lana used her powers to hold him back from attacking her as she speared him. He screamed and started to writhe. He was much stronger than Lana and she was starting to lose her grip. Nathasa acted quickly and spun, kicking off his chest. He flew to the ground and she stood.
The spear flew from her hand and a battle cry rang out. Steve jumped in front, holding up the male's spear, stopping the female from impaling them. He pushed it away from himself and ducked away from her as her blade swung.
The three blocked her attacks before Sam flew and kicked her beside her partner. She hissed at them as she crouched beside him.
"Get up," she grunted to him.
"I can't."
"We don't want to kill you," Natasha stated, "But we will."
Lana's eyes flashed orange and the woman smirked at her, "You'll never get the chance again." Lana frowned. She felt like there was something that the female knew. More specifically about her. The sickness returned once more and she swallowed.
The female tapped something on her partner's wrist and a blue light engulfed them. They shot into the sky and they looked after them. The spear Steve was holding went also. From the hole, they saw a doughnut shape fly away, shooting far into the sky.
The group walked toward Wanda and Vision. Vision was sitting on the ground, gripping his side. Lana saw a nasty wound there and his synthetic skin was glitching around it.
"Can you stand?" Sam questioned. He didn't bother with an answer, helping the android up.
Vision looked at Steve, "Thank you, Captain."
Steve nodded, "Let's get you on the jet."
When they got on, Lana powered up the jet. Natasha closed the door, "I thought we had a deal. Stay close, check in. Don't take any chances."
"I'm sorry, we just wanted time," Wanda responded, from her place. She was holding Vision's hand tightly as if he'd disappear if she let go.
Sam had taken over from Lana as he questioned, "Where to Cap?"
"Home."
The jet landed at the Avenger's Compound and the team of 'criminals' entered. The door beeped as it opened and as they walked Lana saw Rhodey's and Secretary Ross' heads snap toward them. The Secretary was only a hologram but he was still aware of everything that happened around him.
Steve nodded toward him, "Mr Secretary."
The man walked toward them, "You've got some nerve. I'll give you that."
Natasha spoke from behind her, "You could use some of that right now."
He kissed his teeth, "The world's on fire. And you think all's forgiven."
Steve levelled him with a heated glare, "I'm not looking for forgiveness. And I'm way passed asking for permission. Earth just lost your best defender. So we're here to fight," he stepped down so they were the same height, "So if you want to stand in our way... we'll fight you too."
Ross turned to Rhodey, "Arrest them."
Rhodey nodded, "All over it." He swiped his hand across the air and the man disappeared, "That's a court-martial," he smiled, "It's great to see you Cap."
Steve stepped forward to shake his hand, "You too Rhodey."
Lana and Natasha smiled as they walked forward and each engulfed him in a hug.
Rhodey took a good look at them and sighed, "Wow. You guys... really look like crap. Must have been a rough couple years."
"Yeah well the hotels weren't exactly five-star," Sam joked.
A voice called from behind them, "Uh, I think you look great." The group looked behind and saw Bruce walk further into the room. He glanced down at himself and chuckled, "Yeah, I'm back."
"H Bruce," Natasha smiled.
"Nat."
"This is awkward," Lana heard Sam whisper to Vision and Wanda.
The group moved into the study and started to discuss their situation. Lana settled into the couch and sighed at the comfort it brought.
Rhody stared at a hologram of the two aliens that attacked Wanda and Vision in Scotland, "So we gotta assume they're coming back, right?"
"And they can clearly find us," Wanda added.
"We need all hands on deck. Where's Clint?" Bruce questioned as he paced behind Rhodey.
"After the whole Accords situation, he and Scott took a deal. It was too tough on their families. They're on house arrest," Natasha replied.
"Who's Scott?" Bruce asked, confusion marring his face.
"Ant-Man," Steve spoke up from the other side of the room. Bruce's head whipped toward him, in awe.
"There's an Ant-Man and a Spider-Man?" The group nodded, "Okay look. Thanos has the biggest army in the universe and he is not gonna stop until he gets... Vision's stone."
Lana sighed deeply and rubbed the bridge of her nose, "Great," she muttered quietly.
"Well then we have to protect it," Natasha stated confidently.
Vision spoke up. He had been staring out of the window the entire time so it was a surprise to hear him talk, "No, we have to destroy it." They all looked at him and frowned, "I've been giving a good deal of thought to this entity in my head. About its nature. But also its composition. I think if it were exposed—" he approached Wanda, "—to a sufficiently powerful energy source, something very familiar to its own signature, perhaps... its molecular integrity could fail."
"Yeah, and you with it," Wanda replied, "We're not having this conversation."
"Eliminating the stone is the only way to be certain that Thanos can't get it."
"That's too high a price," Wanda shook her head.
Vision gently took her face into his hands, "Only you have the power to pay it." Wanda moved away from him, "Thanos threatens half the universe. One life cannot stand in the way of defeating him."
"But it should," Steve responded. He shook his head, "We don't trade lives Vision."
Vision turned on him, "Captain, 70 years ago, you laid down your life... to save how many millions of people. Tell me, why is this any different?"
"Because you might have a choice," Bruce piped in as Steve was about to answer, "Your mind is made up of a complex construct of overlays. Jarvis, Ultron, Tony, me, the stone. All of them mixed together, all of them learning from one another."
"You're saying Vision isn't just the stone?" Wanda asked hopefully.
"I'm saying that if we take out the stone... there's still a whole lot of Vision left. Perhaps the best parts."
"Can we do that?" Natasha asked.
"Not me, not here," Bruce shook his head.
"Well you better find someone and somewhere fast. Ross isn't just gonna let you guys have your old rooms back," Rhodey stated.
Lana gained an idea and her head tilted to stare at Steve. Clearly, he was thinking the same thing and he met her eyes, "I could call ahead," she shrugged.
He nodded, "I know somewhere."
