Chapter 4

"John!" Sherlock's voice echoed around 221b, "I need a case!"

"You had one this morning." John replied from the kitchen. He was looking through the cupboards for anything edible. They were all filled with test tubes and other scientific equipment. He walked over to the old fridge and opened the door.

Nothing could have prepared him for what he was about to find. "Oh my God! Is that a head?!" He should have remembered that it was Sherlock's flat.

"Just tea for me, thanks."

"Why is it always tea?" Sherlock walked up to the window and looked out onto the world. John was still complaining but Sherlock wasn't paying any attention. He was more interested with the woman outside. She was defiantly coming to see him but what was she going to say? Missing pet? Angry husband? He couldn't tell.

"Hello? Sherlock Holmes?" The woman said.

"Hello," Sherlock replied, "what's your case?" John left the tea and sat down in his seat. Opposite Sherlock like he was supposed to be. It had become a tradition.

"Well," began the woman, "I was on my way home when I heard someone scream. It was coming from the hotel next to me. I looked through the window and saw two people and some statues. The man blinked and they vanished."

"Two missing people," Sherlock repeated excitedly, "now it's Christmas!"

"What he means is, where's the hotel?" John asked.

"Just down the road." Said the woman.

They walked up to the abandoned hotel. John checked the window to see if anybody or anything was there. The room was empty. "It's clear." He shouted to Sherlock who had already made his way inside.

Sherlock knelt down to look at the evidence on the floor. "Doctor." He whispered.

"What?" John asked.

"I didn't mean yo- never mind. Look at this." Sherlock said. On the floor lay the Doctor's bow tie and sonic screwdriver. Sherlock examined the bow tie closer. He wouldn't just take his bow tie off for anything.

Sherlock gently shook the bow tie. There was a quiet tinkle as a key dropped onto the hard, wooden floor. "Gotcha!" Sherlock said, "The Doctor would never take his bow tie off unless he had a plan. He put the TARDIS key underneath it. He knew that we would come because..." Sherlock's phone began to ring, "here he is now." As if it was planned, it was the Doctor calling.

John was trying to understand their conversation. He couldn't hear the Doctors half. He didn't understand what was going on. In fact, he was kind of jealous of this 'Doctor' guy. He was getting all of Sherlocks attention. One thing he was sure of, they were going to have to save him.
