Chapter 1

As she scrolled mindlessly through Twitter, the world around her continued to progress as usual. Nothing out of the ordinary. People were born and people died. A normal day in London. Ally was scrolling though the "Johnlock" tag when she suddenly realised that she should probably do something with her life.

Ally slammed the door of her apartment. She was ready to get outside and do something productive. Her short blonde hair flew in the wind. Her bright blue eyes were scanning the streets around her. She turned up her coats collar and headed towards the underground.

The people on the train were interesting. Ally could easily tell whether they were married or single. Rushing or relaxing. Going to work or seeing friends. What time they woke up or went to sleep. What they had for breakfast or dinner. She could read them like a book. There was one man that she couldn't read. He stood out of the crowd but somehow managed to sink in.

He was walking around the carriage like he was in space. His tweed jacket and bow tie looked strange compared to the casual look of the woman next to him. Nobody looked at him. Nobody acknowledged him. He was like a strange ghost blending in with his surroundings. He flicked his brown hair out of his eyes. He looked mysterious and lonely. Sad and curious. His body looked young but his eyes were a lot older. He looked as if he'd seen the universe. It was impossible to read him. However hard Ally tried, she couldn't. Who was this man?

She didn't have long to think before he had occupied the seat next to her. "Hello," he said, "where are you getting off?" His voice matched his face perfectly but not in the way she'd expected it to. Ally turned to face him. Her bright blue eyes met his deep brown eyes. They remained this way for a while before she finally answered his question.

"Baker Street," she said to the strange man, "what about you?"

"I don't know yet. Anywhere there's trouble really. Aliens, monsters, giant flying star shaped spiders webs, you name it. I'm there."

They walked out of the station. Ally was curious about her new 'friend'. He believed in the aliens and monsters. Could she trust him? Ally believed that the metal men and the salt shakers were just publicity stunts. She didn't even know his name.

"So, who are you?" She asked, "You haven't told me your name yet."

"Sorry," he said adjusting his bow tie, "I'm the Doctor."

"Doctor what?"

"Just the Doctor," he said smirking, "what's your name?"

"Ally."

"Ok then Ally. I need your help."
