Chapter of the Song: Control by Halsey

Three what seemed like never-ending hours the four of us spent at the carnival. The statement wouldn't have been so dragging if not for one specific person who tagged along. Alec. Not only he made sure I was aware of his dislike of me once the couple wasn't watching. He also ensured to out-compete me in every single charade here available. We went from simple throwing basketballs into the basket to computer games at which he surprisingly was very good at. Or maybe I was just incredibly good at losing in everything.

"Nice costume, complete misinterpretation of werewolves. Ever watched Teen wolf? Yeah, they wouldn't hire you." I accused walking behind Megan and Christian who strolled happily not even paying attention  to our sour glares. The Ceo pulled at the crisp white shirt and sorted his leather jacket more comfortably on his broad shoulders.

"And what are you supposed to be? An annoying brat?" Alec sounded with a smug expression. I ignored his comment effectively and instead allowed myself to rate the Halloween decorations. The LED lights of range of different colours were an excellent combination with the carved pumpkins and spider webs.

"BOO! Welcome to the Grand Halloween festival where you not only embrace your inner monster but also have fun!" A green witch with a mic voiced getting our attention. We went further before stopping in front of the plastic duck pond. Two dollars for one go. The sign displayed in bright and bold letters above.

"Can I try this?" Megan pointed to the fishing rod and Christian nodded with a sweet smile. He paid the two bucks whilst the brunette girl rushed for the wooden stick.

"No pressure." I sung whilst the brown head tried to hook the tip of the rod onto a solid yellow duck. She secured it around the number 12 and threw the wet thing onto the desk.

"You may chose any prize in store." The supervisor muttered uninterested and gestured to the soft toys on display. He looked extremely bored, in fact he barely lifted his gaze from his mobile phone and just continued on typing.

"How about that tiger..em okay." Christian trailed off as Megan practically ripped off the big fluffy penguin from the shelf and hugged it close to her body. The girl was a like fluffy unicorn, very rare but also very adorable.

"Alec why don't you win something for Alexia?" Megan smiled as the Alpha averted his brown eyes at my face. Okay, why did the conversation suddenly took a dark turn? I tried not to show how his eyes affected me by staring at the plastic rubber ducks instead. Pretending as if I did not care what he had to say would had to do for the time being.

"I'm here to watch not to engage in some soapy games." Alec gloated harshly and turned away scanning the crowd for trouble. But the problem was, Alec himself was trouble, only that he didn't see it that way. Megan looked away, panicked that she said something wrong.

I inhale in and joined the Ceo at the little tree which he regained his 'stalker' position at. I noticed some people passing him alert glances. No shock here. Alec was practically staring every single person off. Unintentionally, I grab his arm quickly and pulling him aside, anything to break apart the uncomfortable sight.

"You know,  It's Halloween! You should loosen up a little. There is no need to creep strangers out." The crossed Ceo portrays a glare before shrugging his arm away from my reach, and then proceeded with the traditional currently-not-caring-what-you-have-to-say mode.

"Megan and Christian are worried about you. No one has done anything yet, and probably won't. It's okay to relax for a while, you know?" I explain softly as the dark head clenches his jaw in thought and then darted his puppy brown eyes in my direction.

"Fine." He grumbled out as lowly and as deadly as it was possible for a werewolf with a big childish ego. I turn around wanting to laugh, but something is off. It always is before something goes completely ballistic and wrong.

"Alec." I call him, he continues to glare at the cotton candy machine although he admitted himself that his behaviour will regain a different viewpoint.

"Alec!" I grab his arm and he finally meets my eyes.

"What the hell do you want now?" He snaps, red glowing through his contact lenses. Instead of leaping away I finely squeeze his arm. It's him. Something is wrong with him!

"You're so busy looking after everyone, and who's going to look after you?" A shuddering breath rushes past his lips and he bows for a moment. Then his head snaps up, eyes glowing a bright crimson red.

"I need to shift."

"What now!?Alec-" Panic settles in and I skim the crowd for the couple that was supposed to be here. I had no phone with me so I couldn't contact not Megan or Christian for that matter. I debated on approaching strangers but I wasn't certain if they were from Alec's pack either or whether they were werewolves at all.
It was my cup of tea to deal with and I was on my own for this one.

"I NEED TO SHIFT!" Alec growled and someone passing us yelled. "Cool acting dude, nailed the costume too!" A guy that was dressed in a spiderman attire spoke with a smile before stalking towards the bar.
Alec growled dangerously at the back of his throat, tightening his fists to fight for control.

"There are too many humans around." I realise as I watched dozens playing at the arcade games. We couldn't even got anywhere, we were in the middle of a city with no forests around.

"Well I'll just have to ruin all the fun then." He rumble sweat forming on his forehead. I pulled him into an alley, a very dark one which also reeked of pure urine and other disgusting things.

"Is there a way to prevent shifting?" I bite my lips trying to early eliminate the smell receptors on my nose. The stench was withering in the air and slowly invading my senses.

"Silver. A silver toxin into my body." He forced, stance fully frigid. Alec was shaking all over and if I didn't act now god knows what could happen.

"Are you stupid? Silver would kill you." The CEO chuckled painfully, lifting distressed eyes towards mine. Myths are myths for a reason, and didn't Caleb once mention that I should be affected by it if I am a werewolf?

"Then avoid aiming at my heart, that should keep me at bay for about three hours." The reply was rushed and barely witnessed in the currents of wind. It seemed as if the movement of air picked up it's pace.

"Where will I get a silver toxin?" I state and scan the werewolf's panting expression. He sucks in a deep breath and then blinks slowly.

"In my pocket, get it out." I stuck my hand into the front pocket of Alec's jeans. By the way, lightly red-faced and sweaty. Pulling out an object I observed what that looked more like a toy gun rather than a syringe. Good disguise.

"Shoot me." Alec breathed eyes constantly changing their brightness. He grasped the stone wall next to him and pressed his forehead against it with a persistent groan.

"I can't just shoot you!" I stare at the weapon in horror. It flies out of my hands and I'm like a fool watch it do flips in the air whilst bouncing off my hands.

"You have to." The CEO muttered turning his face in my direction just as I have successfully clasped the object between my palms.

"Alright, okay-okay, here we go." The mechanism was simple, there was a trigger and there was a target. I lifted the gun-syringe thing in front of me, my hands were shaking but I could do this.

"And..I'm shooting.." My finger shakes at the trigger briefly, anticipation was not the greatest at this moment. "And...I'm shooting - I can't!" Wailing and shaking all over I put the trigger down.

"On our first accountant you've slaughtered fifteen people. And you can't do that now?" Alec growled staring into my eyes with venom.

"That wasn't me. I don't..." I blurred even more deceased as ever. Alec hissed in agony as his canines pulled out.

"Ahh-admit it. You are a monster just like me. But you know how we are different?" Alec laughed briskly not even waiting for a reply from me and just went on.

"You will thrive for blood, you will kill not because you have to, you will suck people dry because you want to." I pressed the trigger in one motion wincing as the dart pierced Alec's chest. I turned towards the alley, noticing how late it actually got.

"So what now?" I asked cold and motionless. I heard shuffling behind me and twisted my head to watch the CEO press a hand against his stomach.

"Not even an 'are you okay'?" Alec laughed bitterly and I clenched my jaw from bitting back a curse.

"You deserved it." I deadpanned and went out of the isolated street. Alec joined my side and silently followed my lead.

I spotted Megan at the cotton candy machine as she stuffed her face with the sweet candy. They filled us in on how many times Christian won't the different games whilst Alec and I pretended we never had the slip of control accident happen.

"You're right." Alec said after a while. I did everything I could to avoid standing next to him, but it was hard to do that since Megan was practically glued to her mate's side.

"About what?" I spoke tenderly not making eye contact with him. There was a short silence and then a sigh followed.

"You're right. Teen wolf wouldn't hire me." I chuckled slightly and looked at him from the corner of the eye.

"So you have watched the show." I articulate and cross my arms over my body in a more of the protective manner.

"Can you swim?" I turned my head surprised at the sudden change of subject. Alec wasn't even looking at me but staring off in the distance, fully zoomed out.

"No why?" I question but the werewolf simply shrugs it off meeting my gaze.

"Nothing." The word slips past his lips and I notice just what exactly he was so concentrated at. It was a large grey toy shark hanging on the wall. That got me thinking. Maybe he started remembering things?

"You know what I like about the colours white and red?" I started and Alec arched an eyebrow in response.

"They have double meanings. To some red symbolises danger to others it's love. Just like with white, one might think its solemnly based on innocence but another might think it's to do with emptiness-" Alec narrows his eyes in an accusing manner then taking a feisty bite of the cotton candy on his stick.

"Where are you going with this?" He uttered glaring down at the pink fluffy substance.

"I'm just trying to say that we don't always see the true meanings of things and although at first you might think of them in a bad way, you will surprised at how different your perspective can be."

"I'm all for associations and clever interpretations but listening to this is just not my cup of tea." I knew I wasn't good at the pep talk, why the heck did I begin include colours into this!?

"What not even for a chocolate chip cookie?" Alec scanned my face for a moment as if a thought came to him. A thought of realisation that faced him away from me.

"Hey, are you okay?" I think the concern was obvious in my voice but I didn't let it get to me. Suddenly, Alec turned his face, brown eyes locking with mine and then he was right in front of me, in fact millimeters away.

"Get it into your head! I am not here to get to know you or protect you! I am here for my pack and my pack only!" The werewolf stressed rising from the bench we were previously sitting. I don't even lift my head to see Alec's expression.

"Is everything alright guys?" Megan came in rushing, probably instantly getting a hit of the uncomfortable atmosphere.

"Yeah, everything's great." I belted back in a very well helpless voice. I think he figured out what I've tried to accomplish. Megan disappeared right after my reply, I don't know why or maybe she never left but all I saw was Alec's retracting back as he started walking off.

Should I even tell him? That we are mates?

Alec dived into the seas of people and desperately followed. As depressing as it was, i felt like a lost puppy looking for something. Only the difference was, I was not a puppy but a god knows what. I lost Alec in the crowd in a matter of two seconds. Go figure, they say!

"Sorry, excuse me." I mumbled passing through narrow gaps whilst anxiety slowly crept into my system. I had to tell Alec the truth, way to make things worse I suppose.

I spot the same leather jacket and dark brown hair. I grab onto Alec's shoulder twisting him around.
"Don't leave me, you asshole-" I almost choke on my saliva when I see that this person is not even close to Alec.

"I've been called many things, but certainly not an asshole." The male voice vibrated and I take a meaningful step away. I also seem to catch on the fact that he is standing in the circle of other people. A girl with red hair glares at me, her eyes igniting in a vibrant yellow shade.

"Oh no, don't go just yet." The brown head smiles, his eyes going crimson red. He was a werewolf,  like an Alpha.

"Let go off me." I motion to the firm fingers gripping my wrist and the eccentric blue eyes shine brighter at my will to struggle. Like a predator stalking its prey.

"My friends like fresh meat. I think I'd keep you around." He admitted with a smugness when seeing the way my throat swallowed burning bile.

"I know exactly what you are." I declared, and the moment I did there was curiosity reflecting in his blue eyes.

"Really? And what would that be?" One of his friends noted with a smirk. He was literally behind me!

"Werewolves." I watched serious complexions before the whole group erupted from hysterical laughter.

"OH MY GOD! DID SHE REALLY JUST-" One cried wiping tears from his eyes, the red head couldn't restrain her giggles either.

"SHE JUST DID!" I yelled frustrated at their mocking behaviour. My frustration was replaced with a nervous feeling when all the laughter stopped.

"Are they all so..dumb?" It was a comment from the blonde guy standing furthest away from me. It appeared that the guy moved from one point to another and I haven't even witnessed that.

"Why don't you get lost girl? Go ahead get wasted." The same guy stalked towards me, his eyes pouring into mine. For a moment I just stood there frozen.

"You can't just compel her!" The blue eyed hissed, looking from everyone to me. I stood immobile, realising whatever they wanted to do, did not work on me. But I could use it to my advantage, to get away.

"Can someone get me a drink!?" My voice broke the argument between the small group of three. Hopefully it was convincing. They all stared back at me, until the blue eyed shook his head.

"Fix it. Now." He commanded to the one who attempted to place me in submission. The blonde stammered forward, his eyebrows creased and annoyed.

"Eyes up here. I free you from my-"
A piercing scream tore the air, and I looked at the source in full alerted mode.

"A werewolf lost control." The girl mattered aggressively before plunging into air. She jumped a few feet up before landing at the area.

"Lyssa!" The blue eyed called and she turned her head, eyes sparkling a vivid purple colour. She landed precisely on her feet and I observed as the a wolf, a full sized wolf growled over a dead human body. Blood was leaking from the troop but the werewolf didn't seem to mind as it soaked its paws.

"NO, DON'T HURT HIM!" I shrieked at the girl before the blue eyed went to this Lyssa.

"Put him to sleep." He instructed to the blonde head that tried to unsuccessfully compel me.

The green eyed man locked eyes with the werewolf in front of him and practically a second later the huge body fell to the ground. I breathed heavily watching their every move but couldn't bring myself to say a word.

"You know what to do." Blue eyed mentioned to the blonde with a nudge. I watched as the green-eyed man scanned the crowd. People as if caught in daze or even hypnosis blinked rapidly. Lyssa was dragging both the troop and the werewolf to the side while the blonde worked some voodoo magic on the formed crowd.

"Forget." The blonde ordered and people went all in different directions as if nothing ever happened. Crazy. This is crazy.

"Where are you taking him?" I questioned and watched as the trio exchanged glances. I had to know where so I could get him back. With the help of others, because logically I stood no chance against them.

"What's your name?" The blue eyed asked and I found myself staring right into his crystal blue eyes.

"Alexia." It was as if I couldn't lie or refuse or do anything else rather than state what he wanted. They definitely aren't werewolves.

"Why don't we just show you Alexia?" The blue eyed stranger offered and I raise my eyebrow not understanding.

A hand twists me to the side and I lock my gaze with emerald green eyes. They weren't as green as Ethans but they were a lot shinier than one of an ordinary human. What was more, is that I couldn't look away from him, because once I did I was frozen on the spot.
"Sleep." My head fell against a heavy shoulder and my consciousness drifted.

Alec. They took Alec.
