Chapter Twelve

Dorian never thought of something stalking him across the five islands. Why would they? There's nothing interesting about him pre-say, but he felt eyes watching him from afar. If only he knew where it was coming from, then there would be a chance of him leaving the area on notice.

He couldn't find where the voice was coming from; he looked at every nook and cranny for the sound. Dorian could find it on the island, but nothing, just pure and utter nothing. He knew something was wrong with the island but couldn't put his finger on it. Sure, his senses are tingling left, right, and center, no doubt, but he knows his dino senses are acting up. he He felt a cold, eerie sensation shiver down his spine like the stinking finger of death. He had always been a paranoid little knucklehead, but this one takes the cake beyond what his human mind can handle.

He had to know where his friends had wandered off; he needed to get them off the island in one piece. Knowing the outcome of the mayhem, his ears pick up at the very sound of Kane screaming in his lungs out for miles, but he was nowhere to be seen as he wandered off again. Dorian rolled his eyes in annoyance at the fact that Kane still acts like some tough guy, but deep down he's just a whiny coward. Finding a clearing near a lake with forest surrounding him, he wanted to stay a moment and catch his breath. His eyes scanned the everlasting grassy plain of dinosaurs grazing upon the grass happily, but they didn't pay any mind to him. Walking away from the scene, he moved deeper into the dark jungle before him. Dorian saw something in the distance, not far from where he was, but he couldn't see what it was. His curiosity got the better of him again, and he decided to see what the figures looked like.

His curiosity reached its final, highest peak, and he felt sick as soon as he heard the sickening, crunching sound of ripping flesh and bone. He almost gagged but held his breath. He saw a pack of six raptors feasting upon a dead, chewed-up triceratops. As the dead creature's eyes were unmoving and glazed over with blood pooling around its corpse, his eyes gazed upon the raptors. Their snout was soaked in blood, their eyes were feral, and they looked unnaturally like aliens more than real-life animals. The raptors heard it and turned away to see the cowering human before them. The leader let out a loud shriek and charged at the boy, with Dorian picking up a stick faster than the dinosaur. He charged at him and whacked hard at the animal across the head as it crashed to the ground in a heavy heap.

He knew this wouldn't end well for both him and the pack of now-five raptors. He believed he was a goner when he heard voices coming his way.
