Inside of team ODDS dorm, the group were immersed in a card game the twins were playing against each other

Dominic: I summon...Blue Eyes White Dragon!!

Dante: What?!

Obito:*gasp* Oh no!!

Sapphire: ......*sips from a soda can*

Dominic: Hahaha!! I end my turn Dante! Now draw your last pathetic cards so that I can end this farce!

Dante: My deck has no pathetic cards brother! But it does contain-!

Dante draws a card and his chances of victory dropped faster than a crashing plane when he sees it's a card he can't use

Dante: Uh...it's a...hehe~

Dominic:*smirk* Well~? Play it.

Dante: U-uh...

The intercom comes to life and Glynda calls for the entirety of team ODDS to come to Ozpin's office immediately

Dante:~Phew! Saved by the bell!~

Dominic: Tch! You got lucky.

Obito: Let's just go. I swear Dante if we're in trouble because of you.

Dante: What? I didn't do anything that they would find out.

Sapphire:*sigh* Let's just go.

Dominic rolls his eyes and throws down his cards before they all leave to Ozpin's office

Once inside, the boys were briefed on why they were brought up by Glynda while Ozpin looked outside the window behind him while he sat on his chair with his coffee mug sitting on his desk

Glynda: Boys...I'm going to keep this as short as I can.

Obito: What's wrong?

Glynda: That's what we're wondering and...we wanted to know if you could tell us.

Sapphire: Does this have to do with a demon?

Glynda: We're not sure.

Glynda hands Dante her data pad and he flips through multiple images of students in beds as pale as snow with black vines wrapping around their bodies

Dante: Geez...

Sapphire: What could cause this?

Dante: Possession? But on this scale it's not possible it's one demon.

Dominic: How long has this been going on?

Glynda: For about a week..

Obito: A week?!

Glynda: We assumed it was some kind of outbreak of a flu and thought nothing of it. Until...

Sapphire: Until..?

Ozpin stood up from his chair and walked around his desk

Ozpin: Until students started to see the nurse about hearing voices in their dreams...

Dominic: What else? What did the voice tell them?

Glynda: It said for them to..ahem. "Let your pain flow. Let me make it all go away. Let me feel your pain."

Obito:*gulp* D-definitely a demon.

Sapphire: Why pain?

Dante: Who knows? It probably thrives off of suffering.

Sapphire: If it's trying to get its fill here, then it must be inside of the school.

Dominic: That's one explanation.

Glynda: Do you have something to add Mister Sparda?

Dominic: Sometimes the demon has so much power, that it could project itself far distances to enforce its will onto others. This could be what's happening and why we can't feel any demonic presence.

Ozpin: Then yet again a dark shadow has been cast over our heads...

Glynda: Will you help us?

Dante: Well it's interesting enough for me to think about it. But~

Obito: I can't believe you Dante!! You're thinking about getting paid when people's lives could be at stake! Dom tell him!

Dominic: What sort of compensation would we get for our services?

Glynda:*sighs* You'll get what you are owed. Depending if you deal with what this thing is quickly before someone dies.

Sapphire: You called us because we're your best, and only, choice when it comes to this type of thing. We won't let anyone die.

Ozpin: Thank you boys. You're doing us all a great service.

Dante: It's just business Oz. That's all it is.

Dante hands Glynda her data pad and gave her a wink before turning around to leave as the rest of team ODDS follow him

Obito: Dante!

Dante: Sup?

Obito: Why don't you just do this for free! People's lives are at risk here!

Dante: Ah Obito you sweet, naive boy. A man's gotta earn a living somehow. I can't just break down into tears whenever I hear a sob story about people being in danger. Besides, it's probably nothing too dangerous.

Sapphire: You need to have thicker skin Obito.

Obito: Well at least mine isn't thick enough to not care about another persons life...

Dominic: The only thing that matters to us is getting the job done and acquiring our funds.

Obito: I can't believe you guys have girlfriend's. What would they think if they heard you say these things?

Dominic: I have no lover so I'm out of this imaginary situation you've put us in.

Dante: Let's just go before the big boy here starts to throw a tantrum~

Sapphire/Dominic:*chuckle*

Obito: I'm not a little kid! I'm your leader and just as involved in this as you are!

Sapphire: Sure kid. Sure.

Walking back to their dorm, the team grabbed their weapons and headed out, passing by team RWBY's dorm where Yang was about to walk into

Dante: Yo!

Yang: Huh?

Yang tuns and her face lights up when she sees team ODDS walking towards her

Yang: Hey!!

Obito: Hey Yang!

Yang: You guys going on a mission?

Sapphire: A job actually.

Yang: Really? All four of you?

Dominic: The threat this demon filth poses possibly requires all of us to be present.

Yang: O...kay.

Dante: See, that's why you don't have a girlfriend. You're weird!

Dominic: Bite me.

Obito: Can I say goodbye to Ruby before we leave?

Yang: Sure but she's asleep right now.

Sapphire: In the middle of the day?

Yang: She said she didn't feel good so she took the day off. Must've caught something nasty.

Dante: Ya hear that Obito? No smooches~

Obito:*blush* Shaddap!! I'm just gonna wish her good health before we leave!

Sapphire: Whatever you say Romeo.

Obito: Go stuff it!

Obito flicks Sapphire the bird as he walks into team RWBY's dorm and goes over to Ruby's bed and climbs up to see her sleeping with her back turned to him. He smiles and pulls her hair behind her ear and leans over to her but gasps and falls off the bed, causing everyone to rush in when they hear the noise

Yang: What happened?!

Obito shakily points up at Ruby and Sapphire goes up to her bed and throws her blanket off her and the group gasps when they see she too was afflicted with the same condition as the other students with black vines wrapping around her body

Yang: Ruby!!

Yang goes over to her sister but Dante stops her and holds her back as tears begin to well up in her eyes

Sapphire: Dammit....how are we even supposed to find this wretch?!

Dominic: Let me..

Dominic goes over to Ruby's bed and tilts her to where she's laying on her back and he places his hand over her forehead and he closes his eyes

Yang: What's he doing?

Sapphire: Trying to reach into her mind.

Yang: Can he save Ruby?

Dante: We'll have to wait and see..

Dominic was walking through Ruby's mind which was clouded by darkness and the same black vines were growing inside of her head too. He stumbles upon a young Ruby standing in front of a gravestone crying. Upon going up behind her, he sees it was her mother Summers grave and he closed his eyes and looks down before going to put a hand on the young girls back but a dark voice called out to him

*ominous laughter* What do we have here? Hmm~ Your scent...the pain...oh it's delicious!

Dominic says nothing as he looks around trying to find the origin of the voice

This girls pain. You know it. Ahh~ Yes I see now. Ohohoho~ You're the cause of her suffering~ Torn between her love and hate for you. I'm glad you came here. Now I can feast on you both!!

A hand came out of the darkness and grabbed Dominic by the throat and lifted him up. Outside of Ruby's mind scape, everyone watches in shock as Dominic was being lifted up by something

Dominic: A-a-ack!!

Yang: Dante do something!!

Dante reaches into his coat and pulls out a glass orb filled with a liquid and raised it above his head only for him to be smacked away by something and drops the orb

Sapphire: Holy-!

Sapphire was smashed into the ceiling and then tossed to the side into Yang and the two crashed into a wall leaving Obito there shaking

*laughter* Oh I can't wait to hear your final scream. It's like music when you get enough souls to scream out in a specific tune. Do you know what that is? Fear. Pain. Suffering. The feelings you feel before your light is inevitably snuffed out.

Obito eyes the orb Dante had dropped and dives for it, grasping it in his hands and holding it up

Dante: Th-throw it!!

Obito: Where?!

Dante: The ground!! Now!

Obito shouts and slams the orb onto the ground and the room begins to light up by an angelic light that blinds everyone and in doing so, revealing the demon that was holding Dominic up.

Dante pulls out Ebony and shoots at the shadowy creature but it dodged his bullets and threw Dominic away before issuing a proclamation to the group

Free me! So that I may bring chaos to this world once more! I'm not far. I'll light your way for you.

The shadow laughs and flies through the window and flies across the air before diving down into the forest below it and a bright orange and black light shines from inside the forest, lighting the way towards the horizon

Obito:*panting* What the hell was that?!

Sapphire:*groan* That...is what we need to kill to free everyone.

Yang: Then let's go.

Yang gets up to leave but she was stopped when Sapphire grabbed her by the arm and shook his head

Sapphire: Uh uh.

Yang: What?! That thing did this to my sister! I'm going!!

Dante: No way. This is our job and we're not gonna let you get in on this.

Yang: Do you think this is a game?! My little sister could die!!

Dante: Which is why you should stay here with her Yang. It's dangerous enough to let Obito go but we know we're not gonna stop him.

Obito: Yang. Just let us go. We..we have to go. We're gonna stop this thing before it could do any harm.

Yang: But-

Dominic:*cough* Yang..!

Dominic puts a hand on her shoulder and looks her in the eye and she looks down and accepts her position

Yang: Just....please come back.

Dominic: You don't have to worry about that. We'll be back.

Yang hugs him before letting him go and watches as her friends walk out

Timeskip—

Team ODDS travels through the forest far away from Beacon and they come upon a familiar sight. The bridge they fought the hybrid Grimm on when they first came to Beacon

Dante: Well well well. Ain't this a sight for sore eyes?

Obito: Wow. You know it seems like yesterday we were here.

Dominic: Let's just focus on the job at hand..

Dominic pushes past his friends and walks forwards on the path towards the light in the sky

Dante: You think he's a little...off today?

Sapphire: One of his friends could die if we fail. I'd be the same way if I were him.

Dante: Why aren't you?

Sapphire: Because I'm good at hiding my emotions.

Dominic slices apart a bush and the group comes across a ruin that was in the center of the orange and black light and the demonic voice of the same demon that attacked them came to life with the same ominous laughter again

You have arrived. Good. I'm glad you're here. I considered you might just leave me here to rot, but we both know you humans will do anything to save your fellow man. Or to receive a challenge for greatness.

They walked up to the ruins and the light faded away as the doors to the ruins opened up and they walked in without saying a single word

I was left here by a great warrior. He left me in pieces as he sealed me away from this world in this tomb you walk through now. If I had a modicum of my original power, I'd have killed one—or three—of those children to expedite your arrival. Though I expected that warrior to come back to finish me and not a group of human children. But you'll do~ I can taste your pain on my tongue~

Sapphire: Let's kill him properly then.

The hallways were adorned with strange statues and the stones the tomb was built out of were as black as night making it harder to see where they were all going. Though a small light at the end of the hallway brought them relief and they walked through a doorway and into a large chamber with a coffin on a pedestal being guarded by kneeling suits of armor

Such tenacious adventurers. It's fascinating to see the lengths you'll go to reach your goals. Knowing full well you're walking towards your death. It's inspiring. Tear these worthless meat sacks apart!

Dark Disciples (Reptiles Theme)

The coffin in the center of the room began to crack and bright purple energy flowed through the armors littering the room and they sprung it life, drawing out their weapons and surrounding the teens

Sapphire: You fight us with the dead? Don't mock us.

A knight swung its sword down on Dominic who blocks with with Yamato and his arm began to shake as the knight slowly pushes him back which makes the elder twin smile a little and he pushes the knight away before slicing it to pieces

Dominic: They're not half bad. This might actually be fun.

Dante: Let's rock!!!

Dante swings Rebellion off his back and holds it with two hands before charging into battle

Sapphire smirks and pulls out Cerberus and swings the triple nunchaku around him before he slams the three heads at the end of the weapon on the floor, sending a wave of ice forward that kills a group of the knights

Obito jumps in the air, tying a wire to a kunai and using it with his semblance to strike at the knights with his weapon that leaves glowing slash marks on them that explode a second after they are made

Dominic pulls both Force Edge and Yamato out and runs around the room slicing through dozens of knights

You're outnumbered. Give up.

Sapphire: Outnumbered? Yes. Outmatched? Hell no!

Sapphire spins Cerberus around his arm and throws forward a tornado of cold air that freezes the knights in front of him solid and he uses this chance to slam Cerberus down, creating ice crystals that shoot out from the ground

Dante: Wooh!!

Dante throws Rebellion and it spins forward, slicing the knights in half as he pulls out Ebony and Ivory and shoots around him. He kicks a fallen knight into the air and juggles it with a barrage of bullets

Dante: Don't close your eyes!!

Obito wraps his glowing wire around the bodies of a few knights and pulls on it with all his strength and bisects them into chunks of metal. The purple energy that had brought the knights to life escaped from their bodies upon death and went back into the coffin where it began pulsating with purple energy

Obito: Huh..guys?

More and more knights began to fall as the coffin gained more energy from each kill team ODDS made

Oh~ This power! It feels...familiar and yet..different. Oh, it's invigorating.

Obito: Guys stop! You're making him stronger!!

Dante: Huh?

The ground beneath them shook violently as the coffin pulses and sends shockwaves, knocking the group back as the ground began to separate

Sapphire: What the?!

Hahahaha!! Yes! I want more! Give me your fear!!

The ground exploded into a bright purple light that blinded the team and they all fell unconscious as the sound of laughter was the last thing they heard

Obito groans and lifts himself up off the ground and sees that he was in a dark void

Obito: What? Where am I?

He begins walking around trying to find a way out

Obito: Hello! Hellooo! No one's here...

No one is going to save you boy. You're all alone. You always will be.

Obito: Wh-! Show yourself!! I'm not afraid of you!

The demon laughs as three clouds of smoke rise from the ground and form into the rest of team ODDS in front of Obito

Obito: Guys!

What do you see here?

Obito: They're my friends! And if you hurt them, I swear I will-

No. You see a goal you will never reach. Look at them. Three young boys so powerful that it makes even the heroes told in stories seem weak. And then there's you. A weak insignificant human with dreams of grandeur. But you know they'll never come true.

Obito: Shut up!! This isn't real! You're trying to put ideas in my head and it won't work!

Ahahahaha!! You misunderstand me. I am not doing anything but telling you what you already know. Deep down you know everything I say to be true.

Obito: No...n-no I don't...I don't want...

Don't want what boy? Say it. Let it out.

Obito: I don't...want to be...alone.

Hahaha! You've always been alone. No mother. No father. Your grandmother is not long for this world. What then? Will you believe that they will accept you into their home? A burden like you? No no my child. You will be cast out. Alone.

Obito's lip quivers and he falls to his knees. He was right. Everyone else was so much better than him. So much stronger. He could never do the things they've done. All he'll do—is get in their way.

The only way to end your suffering is to accept that it is hopeless. Accept...finality.

Obito: It's not hopeless. It's never hopeless! My friends don't see me as some weak burden! They've helped me grow so far from before I came to Beacon! I've grown with them, fought with them. One day I'll reach their level! But today, todays the day we stop you!!

Obito gasps and opened his eyes to see that he and the rest of his team were kneeling on the ground while being tied down by black vines. He grunts and pulls himself free from the ground and goes to do the same to Dante but the vines held onto his body tightly. Even with a kunai, the vines seemed to be indestructible. But why did he break out so easily?

Hahaha!! Oh I like you! You seems to have more resolve than your friends!

Obito looks up and sees a purple crystal in the center of the room with a black shadow inside of the center of it

Obito: What are you doing to them?!

They are giving me the power I need to complete my resurrection

Obito: Resurrection?

Yes. The warrior that sealed me long ago cursed my remains. I could only influence others through minor thought. But now, I'm growing stronger thanks in part to your friends. Their power...I knew it had felt it before. They posses the same energy as the one that had sealed me away. What irony that they would free me.

Obito: I don't think so!

Obito throws a barrage of shuriken and kunai at the crystal that explode on impact with it but the crystal stayed in tact

You dare strike me boy! Hahaha! You don't know what I am. I am pain. I am chaos. I...am...NEZAREC!!

The crystal glowed brighter and the shadow of Nezarec rose out of the ground and spreads its arms as he laughed

Nezarec: I sense power radiating from you. But what is one little semblance of light against the dark forces of the God of Pain!!

Obito: Time to find out..

Obito drew out his kunai and attached it to a wire before cracking it like a whip while he channeled his aura through it and his body glowed bright orange along with his weapon.

Obito: Well? Come on!!

Sapphire wakes up and shakes his head as he opens his eyes to see himself in a black void

Sapphire: Where the-?

A black cloud flies around him and gathers up around in front of him and it forms into an alternate version of him draped in black with the white of his eyes colored black

Sapphire: What the hell..?

Alt. Sapphire: It scares you doesn't it? That they'll find out?

Sapphire: What are you talking about?

Alt. Sapphire: You know what I'm talking about. What if they find out what you are? What they'll do to you?

Sapphire: .......

Alt. Sapphire: Silence. All you can do when faced with the truth. The truth that'll end in betrayal.

Sapphire: You don't-

Alt. Sapphire: Don't what? Don't know that'll happen? Why? When Dominic revealed a secret he got ostracized for it. Who's to say it won't happen to you?

Sapphire: Because they won't find out...

Alt. Sapphire: Oh? So now you're lying to save your own skin? For shame. We're many things: a murderer, a fighter, a lover. But we are no liar.

Sapphire: I...don't want to lose what I have.

Alt. Sapphire: Friends?*chuckle* We don't get to have friends. All that we get...is death. Death surrounds us. We were born from it.

Sapphire: I just...want to live in peace.

Alt. Sapphire: The only way to guarantee that is to disappear. Never look back. Be a shadow in the night.

Sapphire shuts his eyes and tilts his head down. Can he tell people what he truly is? Would they accept him for it or betray him?

Obito runs up a wall as Nezarec's shadow claws at him but only cuts the wall as Obito spins his kunai around on the wire and strikes the shadow on the back making it tense up as the point of contact explodes

Obito: That all you got?!

The arm of the shadow flies towards Obito and grabs onto him and pulls him towards it

Obito: Waaah!!

Obito was spun around in the air before being thrown across the floor

Yes! Fight me more! Your pain will only fuel my will!!

Dante picks himself up from the ground and sees he was in a black void

Dante: How the-?

Your pain is much more pronounced than the others. This demands a change of scenery.

The black void began to shift into a small closet where the only light source came from outside of it

Dante: What is this?

Dante tries to push the closet open but it would not allow him to open it and he had to resort to kicking and punching but even that didn't make a dent in it

Dante: Why am I here? What do you want from me?

To see. To see your fear.

Dante: Let me out of here and I'll show you real fear!!

???: Dante...

Dante's eyes widen at the voice speaking to him and a silhouette of a woman appears in front of him casting a shadow over the closet he was trapped in as the light behind her turned into a bright orange fire

???: If I don't return, you must run. By yourself, alone.

Dante: M-mother?

???: You must change your name. Forget your last and start a new life as someone else. A new beginning.

She begins to back away from the and turns to her left and walk away as Dante starts pounding on the closet door shouting to his mother

Dante: No! No!! Mother!! Don't go that way! Stop it!! Please!! Please don't leave me! Mother!!

He begins to pound on the door harder as he puts all his strength into his punches as he tries to save his mother from the fate she was given so long ago and yet again he had to hear her horrifying screams as he slumped over the door which held him back from saving his mother

Dante: Don't leave me...

You can't save anyone. Everyone who you will ever love will die because of what you are. Even though you try to push them away, it'll never be enough.

Another figure walked up to the closet and placed their hand on the door

???: Dante...

Dante:*gasp* Blake?

Blake: I'll always be here with you. Always...

Your mother. The woman you love. Everyone you ever loved will always leave you in death. Be it by their own volition...or yours.

Rebellion flew in from behind Blake and impaled itself through her as Dante watched helplessly. He falls to his knees as the light faded and he was left in darkness. Alone.

Dante: I don't want to be alone...

Alas, you don't deserve the luxury of companionship or love. The only thing you deserve, is solidarity. No friends. No family. You will forever walk this world alone. Always.

Dante: Always....alone.

Dominic rubs his head as he picks himself up and finds himself in a black void

Dominic: Great...

Reaching down to his side, he grasps at nothing but air and growls

Dominic: What is going on?

Black smoke builds up around him and morphs into the form of Ruby who looked at Dominic with eyes filled with hate

Ruby: Do you blame yourself?

Dominic: What?

Ruby: Do you blame yourself? For leaving my mother behind. For running like a coward!

Dominic pays no mind to the illusion and looks around the void

Dominic: Is this all? An illusion that yells at you? What kind of demon are you that you can't even face me yourself!?

Why do you ignore the truth that is standing right in front of you? Arrogance? Stupidity?

Dominic: Your empty words mean nothing to me! And neither does this illusion scare me!

Ruby: So that's it? I just mean nothing to you? Feh, of course I do. Nobody means anything to you. We're all beneath you after all.

Dominic: Watch your tone before I kill you with my bare hands..

Ah. I see now. It's denial. You deny the truth from yourself because you're scared it'll become a reality

Dominic: Both of you stop talking like you know me! None of you do!

Ruby: Of course we don't! You close yourself off to everyone and put on a mask to protect yourself from the pain of your own failures! But after you raised the Temen Ni Gru, the mask has cracked and your true self is coming out.

Dominic: I don't know what you're talking about...

Ruby: You put on the show that you're a mighty warrior who fears nothing but you're just some scared little boy who runs away from his hardships.

Dominic: Shut up...

Ruby: You ran away when your brother needed you the most. You ran away when my mother needed you the most! Will you run away when I need you the most? Will you break the vow you made when my mother laid there dying?

Dominic: No...no I'd never do that!

Ruby: How? I'm dying in my bed with my sister being there for me while you're just sitting around talking to nothing but air!

Dominic: I'm gonna get out of this and save you! I promise!

Ruby: False hope. Is that all you can give me? You gave my mother your word that you'd protect me and all that's ever happened to me since I've met you I'd be in danger!

Ruby: You raised a tower for your own selfish purposes and in the process, I got hurt. You hurt me Dominic. You were supposed to protect me! I thought you were my friend!!

Dominic: I-I am! I only raised the Temen Ni Gru so..so I could..I needed it! I needed more power!

Ruby: No you wanted it! You wanted to never be scared again so you took your father's power and proclaimed it as your own. But Sparda was never afraid of anything. He protected the human world by himself with his power alone while you can't even protect yourself against a little succubus!

Dominic: She-

Ruby: She haunts you every day because she showed you that even though your blood is of a demon, you're still nothing to her. If you can't protect yourself, what hopes do you have in protecting me?

Dominic falls to his knees, his eyes building up with tears as Ruby knelt down to his level and lifted his head up by his chin

Ruby: Without your powers, you're nothing. And without that strength, you can't protect anything. Let alone yourself. And one day you'll be powerless to protect everyone. Especially me. Tell me, what can you do when you reach your lowest?

Dominic: I....I can't..do anything.

Ruby: You can't protect anyone.

Obito jumps into the air, taking a deep breath as he weaves hand signs before blowing out a barrage of small fireballs at Nezarec's shadow that create clouds of ash once they impact him but the shadow paid them no mind and grabbed Obito inside of his massive hand and begins to throw him around the room

Obito: AAAH!!

Hahaha!! Yes! Let me hear your screams!!

The shadow grabs Obito by the leg and slams him on the ground, breaking his ribs and causing him to scream in pain

Obito: AAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

Obito was again slammed on the floor and then dragged across the ground which shreds his clothing as Nezarec's shadow holds him up by his leg

Oh what a lovely melody your screams make. Screams are the most delicious when they're wretched directly from the throat. An echo that reverberates through eternity.

The shadow slams Obito on the ground again, making his body bounce on impact with the hard surface of the ground

Obito: GAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!

Aah..beautiful~

Sapphire opens his eyes and looks around the void, hearing Obito's screams

Sapphire: Obito..

Alt. Sapphire: Why do you care? You've been hiding away your feelings from everyone to protect yourself from them finding out what you are. Do you really think he'll accept you for the monster for you are?

Sapphire clenches his hand into a fist and looks at the false version of himself with his eyes slightly glowing.

At Beacon, the cracked remains of his weapon begin to glow as Sapphire walks up to the version of himself created by the illusion

Sapphire: My friend needs my help. I don't care if they find out what I am because you know why? I know that they wouldn't betray me. I've doubted that for a very long time but now I see I was a fool for believing it. They're not gonna abandon me because of what I am! Now shut the hell up!!

Dante perks his head up when he hears Obito's screams and tries to peek through the edges in the door

Dante: Obito?

He stands up and puts his forehead on the closet door and sighs softly

Dante: I know you wanted me to live as someone else ma. Alone. But I can't. Not when I've got so much from my short time here. I got friends. Dominic's alive. You know I'd never leave him. And...I got the most beautiful woman as my girlfriend. I'm not gonna lose her. I'm not gonna lose anyone...ever again!!

Dante reels his fist back and punches through the closet door

Dominic pulls his head away from the faux Ruby's hand and looks around when he hears the screams of Obito

Dominic: What..?

Ruby: Don't think you're getting out of here. Your pain fuels me. And you're gonna stay here even if I have to force you to!

The fake Ruby tries to grab Dominic by the face but he catches her wrists and stands over her while looking down at her

Dominic: It pains me every day because of what I took from her. And I know she'll never truly forgive me..and that's okay. As long as she knows that I'll care for her and her family. As long as she's happy...I'm happy.

Ruby:*spits* You're wasting your life over the promise you made to a dead woman.

Dominic: That may be so, but I live to see her daughter live a very long and very happy life.

Ruby: You really think she'll be happy with you in her life?

Dominic: Who knows? I'll have to wait and see. Now get the hell out of my head.

Obito laid on the floor with his clothes torn to shreds and his weapons strewn about on the floor around him

I want to watch as the light in your eyes turns off when I kill you!

The shadow raises its fist above Obito, ready to end his life when the ground starts to shake beneath them

Obito:*smile* Heh...

What is this?!

Obito: Looks like the light...is staying on..

The three elder members of team ODDS grunt and free themselves from the vines as the shadow turns around only to be met with a pair of boots to the face and it goes flying into the crystal

Dante:*wipes his nose* Punk ass.

Obito:*cough* About time..!

Sapphire helps Obito sit up

Sapphire: Sorry to keep you waiting. We had to...deal with some things.

Dante: Looks like you had some fun before we got here. Who was winning?

Obito: Psh! Me obviously!

The group laughs a little bit Obito winces in pain and holds his side

Obito: Ehehe~ It hurts to laugh..

The room shook again as the crystal in the center of the room began to crack and eventually shattered as Nezarec fell to the floor. He looked at his hand and began to laugh maniacally, standing up as the team of devil hunters watched in awe

Nezarec: Hahahaha!! Oh, what a shame we can't entertain our one-sided conversations further!

He waves his hand around and creates a glaive from darkness and spins it around while still laughing about his resurrection

Nezarec: Ah, this...this feels too good~ Prepare to face the wrath of Nezarec, The God of Pain!!

Nezarec roared and let his power flow around him with the ground beneath him cracking

Nezarec: Your power freed me. Allow me to thank you with a painful death!!

Obito: I really hope he meant painless...

Obito grunts and tries to stand up but his legs wobble before he falls to the ground

Sapphire: Stay down Obito. We got this.

Obito: N-no way! I'm not gonna be left out of this!

Dante: You can barely stand Obito. Just sit this one out. We won't be long.

Obito: Gaah!

Obito lies on the floor and lifts up his cracked goggles and nods as he exhaled

Obito: Fine...give him one for me will ya?

Dominic: As you wish. Now, let's kill this so called "God" properly.

Nezarec: After thousands of years, I can finally spread fear and desolation throughout the world! Warriors, let me devour your fear!!

Nezarec makes the first move as he jumps into the air and slams his weapon on the ground which sends a powerful blast of purple energy forward at the team. Sapphire grabs Obito before he and the rest of team ODDS jump out of the way

Obito:*pants* Thanks man...

Sapphire: Don't mention it.

Dante: Dom! Follow my lead!!

Dante teleports to the ground and sprints towards Nezarec with Dominic doing the same

Dominic: I'm way ahead of you!!

Both brothers pull back their swords and send a red and blue energy wave that then combines into a large purple one that flies at Nezarec

Nezarec: Hahaha!! What fun!

Nezarec meets the attack by throwing his glaive at it and it spins in mid air as it glows purple and creates a wheel of energy around it as the two attacks impact each other

The demon jumps over the two clashing attack and throws a punch at Dominic that Dante appeared in front of and used Royal Guard to block the attack and sends the energy from the blow back with even more power which sends the God of Pain flying

Three chains wrapped around Nezarec and pulled him back towards the group, now joined by Sapphire

Sapphire: Oh no no! You didn't think we were done with you just yet did you?!

Sapphire chopped his hand on the chains and ice began to overtake them, making them solid as it runs up along them and freezes Nezarec in place

Sapphire: HRRRR!!

The young reaper uses all of his strength to whip the ice off the chains which causes Nezarec to be broken free but was met with the chains hitting him in the face, dazing the god.

Dominic pulls the Force Edge from his back and runs along the side of the chains of Cerberus and he jumps into the air before performing a spinning attack that turns him into a living drill

Nezarec: Impressive! But it's still not enough!!

Nezarec raised his hand into the air and shot dark purple bolts of lightning from his palm that struck the entire battlefield

Dante: Whoa!

Dante and Sapphire jumped around the lightning while Obito hid behind a rock, praying he wouldn't get hit as Dominic got closer to Nezarec who called his glaive back to his hand and thrusted it forward at Dominic and the two struggled to overpower the other with the power of their attacks

Dante: EYAAAAAAHHH!!

Dante appears above Nezarec and slices him horizontally behind his back with Rebellion which makes the prideful god shout in pain. This act causes him to faulter and was hit by Dominic's drill attack which pushes him back towards the end of the room and against a wall

Nezarec: Urgh! You're not superior to me human!! I know your true fears! I know your darkest thoughts! I-!

A blast of ice hit Nezarec in the mouth, shutting him up

Sapphire: Oh just shut up you pretentious douchebag!!!

Sapphire was in the air with both hands on Cerberus as he held the ice nunchucks above his head before slamming them down on Nezarec and encasing him in a sheet of ice

Dominic: Hey! That almost hit me!!

Dante: So move away next time dumbass!

Sapphire: You're both dumbasses!!

Sapphire runs past the twins as he spins Cerberus around his arm and thrusts it forward, sending a powerful blast of icy wind that shatters the glacier Nezarec was trapped in and pushes him further into the wall.

Dante: Come on! Before he gets back up!

The trio rushes Nezarec who picks himself up off the ground and throws his weapon at them. Dominic and Sapphire slide under the glaive while Dante blocks it with the flat end of his sword and the two teammates continue on towards Nezarec who focuses his energy into his fist and throws a punch

Dominic and Sapphire stop, plant their feet, and throw their fists back as they glow bright yellow and they perform a synchronized uppercut on Nezarec's fist

Dominic: RISING..!!

Sapphire: ICE..!!

Their fists stopped glowing and Beowulf was on each of their fists as they uppercut Nezarec's fist together and destroy it with their combined strength

Sapphire/Dominic: DRAGON!!!

Dante shouts and deflects Nezarec's glaive and it falls to the ground beside him, imbedded inside it and he runs up to join the two as Nezarec screams in pain over his loss of appendage

Dante: Have to 'hand' it to you two! You guys make a good team!! Now watch this! STINGER!!

Dante thrusts Rebellion forward and strikes Nezarec in the chest and he follows this up by thrusting his sword forward at blinding speeds before slashing him across the chest

Nezarec: UAAAAAGGHH!!

Nezarec falls against the wall, missing a limb and his body full of scratches. He can't possibly put it together how three humans full of fear could ever hope to challenge him. He was a god. Their pain fuels his power. Was their pain...gone?

Nezarec: H..How?! How..could you possibly have this much power?! I saw your minds! Your pain was weighing you down! How could you break the chains of your pain?!

Dante: It's quite simple really.

Sapphire: When you understand your own pain, you learn to accept it. That ignoring it won't make it go away.

Dominic: By accepting your own weakness can you truly grow as a person. It's funny, we wouldn't have come to this realization without you.

Sapphire: In a sense..hahaha!

Dante: You were responsible for your own downfall! Hahaha! It's funny right?

Dominic: Hahahaha!! It is!

The trio laughed at Nezarec who clenches his shaking hand into a fist and calls his weapon to his hand and he raises it into the air and shoots a blast of purple energy that destroys the ceiling above them

Nezarec: You...don't scare...me!!

The energy around Nezarec began to focus into his glaive and the blade began to grow larger and larger until it reached the clouds above

Nezarec: TASTE DESPAIR!! FINAL CATACLYSM!!!!

Nezarec, in a moment of desperation, slams his massive weapon down on the trio who each block with with their weapons. Dominic with Yamato, Dante with Rebellion, and Sapphire with a large sword of ice that he wields with two hands

The four blades clash against each other and create a shockwave that tears through the entire tomb as purple sparks of energy shoot out from the blade

Obito: Oh no!! Guys! You have to finish him off!!

Dante: G-G-GH!!

Dominic: HRR!!

Sapphire: HAAA!!

Nezarec: I WANT TO HEAR YOUR SCREAMS BEFORE I FILL THIS WHOLE WORLD FULL OF SCREAMS!! STARTING WITH EVERYONE YOU'VE EVER LOVED!!

The three gripped their weapons tighter as their auras exploded from their bodies and they began to push back Nezarec's attack

Nezarec: What are you doing?! HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS?! THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!!

All three auras of the boys began to merge into one as they pushed harder against the attack and let out primal screams as their eyes dilated

Dante/Dominic/Sapphire: HRRRRRAAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Nezarec had a look of pure terror on his face as his weapon cracks and then breaks as the three sent their own attack at him and he was sliced by all three of them

Nezarec's body began to crack and break down due to the slashes made by the trio

Nezarec: This...can't...be!! URYAAAAAAAAAA!!!

The God of Pain goes in for one final attack but a barrage of flaming kunai were shot into him and his last words were a shout in pain as his body explodes in a shower of golden light

Once the light dies down, all that was left of Nezarec was the shattered remains of his weapon

Sapphire:*sigh* It's over...

Back at Beacon, Yang had her head laid down on her desk as she waited for her friends to save her sister as well as everyone else who was afflicted by Nezarec's curse. She heard a slight creaking sound and she shot up in her seat and saw Ruby looking at her with wide eyes

Ruby: Y-Yang?

Yang: Ruby!!

Yang jumps up from her chair and hugs her sister who hugged her back. She cried softly knowing that her little sister was okay and that her friends succeeded

Yang: They did it! They saved you!

Ruby: Uh, who?

Yang: Who else?! Team ODDS! They found whatever was doing this to everyone and they beat it!

Back with Team ODDS, they ran out of the ruins with Dominic carrying Obito on his back as they jump out of the entrance and the tomb that once held Nezarec began to crumble and sink into the soil below

Dante: Well..! I'd say that's worth a hefty paycheck!

Obito: It better!! I need that money for the hospital!

Sapphire: Why not just drink some of Dominic's blood?

Obito: Ew! I don't know where he's been! For all we know, he could have a succubus STD!

Dominic: Oh come on! I'm clean! There hasn't been a single drug in my system since I was ten!

Sapphire: Dude!

Dominic: What?

Sapphire: You need to get some therapy man.

Obito: Can I get physical therapy first?!

Dante: Yeah, we should probably get Obito to the infirmary.

Obito: PLEASE?!

Timeskip—

With their victory, Team ODDS had made their way back to Beacon and their first stop was to check on Ruby to see if she was okay and they found their answer when Yang came bursting out of her teams dorm and she ran towards the group but mainly to Dominic

Sapphire snatched Obito off of Dominic's back and watched as Yang tackles Dominic into a tearful hug

Yang: You did it!! You guys did it! You saved my little sister!! Thank you! Thank you!

Dante: Huh. Not used to being thanked for this kind of stuff.

Sapphire: Feels good doesn't it?

Dante:*smile* Yeah...it does.

Yang wipes her eyes and looks up at Dominic who looked down at her with a soft smile and patted her head before she let go of him

Yang: How..*sniffle* how can I repay you?

Dante: Well~

Sapphire jabs Dante in the side before speaking up

Sapphire: You don't owe us anything. Ozpin already has it covered.

Obito:*cough* Maybe we can see Ruby..? Please? Before I lose consciousness.

Yang: She's in the room right now. Go.

Team ODDS goes to see Ruby but Yang grabs Dominic's arm, stopping him

Dante: Yo! Pint size! You alive?

Ruby looks up from her bed and jumps down it and runs over to the trio

Ruby: You guys!*gasp* Obito!! What happened?!

Obito:*groan* Hi babe...

Sapphire: He had a run in with a formerly known "God of Pain"

Ruby: A god?! You fought a god?!

Dante: Hell yeah! Kid single handedly took on an ancient god by himself while we were having a cat nap!

Sapphire: I do believe this calls for a couple feel better smooches followed by taking him to the hospital.

Dante: Better hurry~ I think he's about to see the light~

Ruby: No!! Obito don't die!!!

Obito: I'm not dying you-! Uh..l-lovely girlfriend of mine~ I just...really need medical attention.

Ruby: Y-yeah! Take him to the infirmary!! Go!

Sapphire: You heard her Dante. Chop chop.

Dante: Yeah yeah I heard her.

Dante walks out of the room and spits Yang and Dominic talking and he gets a small smirk on his face as he leaves down the hall with Obito on his back

Yang: Dominic...

Dominic: Yes Yang?

Yang: You've done so much for us...for me. I..I don't know how I can repay you.

Dominic grabs Yangs hands and lowers them as he looks her in the eyes

Dominic: You don't have to do anything. What I did today, was what I had promised Summer so long ago. I promised her I'd protect you two. And that's what I'll always do. Even if it costs my life.

Yang buried her face into his chest and her hand traveled down his chest and to his hand where she intertwined her fingers with his

Yang: You really are my guardian angel....

Dominic: I guess you could say I'm your..Dark Angel.

The two separate and Yang smiles at him before going back to her dorm where Sapphire walks out of

Sapphire: Hm? Oh~ Did something happen~?

Yang: Huh?!*blush* I-I don't know what you...bye!!

Yang rushes in and slams the door behind her making Sapphire chuckle in amusement

Dominic: Why did she have to leave so suddenly?

Sapphire: Oh my friend if only you knew.

Dominic: Does she have to use the bathroom?

Sapphire: *sigh* God you're dense.

Sapphire shook his head and left Dominic alone to ponder what his teammate was talking about.

Unbeknownst to him, Emerald had recorded the conversation between Dominic and Yang and smirked as she sent it to Cinder who upon watching the two being so close, crushes her scroll in her hand as she looked up with her eyes glowed a fiery orange.
