Who Needs Hawk Moth When You Have School Girls?
I hopped to the Eiffel Tower, where I knew the famous cat-inspired superhero would be, taking a rest, waiting for Ladybug to begin patrol. I had studied everything I could about Cat Noir, after all, I was writing a blog about him. I was more graceful this time than before, and I had a giant smile on my face. I was shouting in happiness, I flew from building to building with my lasso, just like I had seen Ladybug do countless times with her yoyo, her cat never too far behind. I landed on my feet next to Cat Noir, who was standing, looking happily, his back turned to me.
I blew on the back of his neck, and he jumped, knocking me to the ground, his staff pointed towards my chest. I had my arms up in a defensive manner. "Calm down, black kitty!" He relaxed and offered his hand to help me up. I waved it off and stood up myself. "Nice reflexes. For a cat."
"Where have you been?" He asked. I remembered what I had realized about Hawkmoth's lair.
"I-uh, preparing. For the, school dance in two months," I spoke distantly. I was referring to the Spring Formal. I snapped out of my distracted daze and looked into the cat's green eyes. "We have to go to all the buildings where you can see the entire city through a window of some sort."
"Why?" I heard a string zip past us, and our attention turned to Ladybug who was standing behind me. Cat Noir's eyes lit up, and I could tell he truly cared for his partner who brushed off his declarations of love as a joke. Was I confusing my hope to be his friend as a crush? I must be. Besides, even if I liked him like that, he wouldn't care, and I knew it would only make him feel guilty about not being able to return my feelings. Or even worse, he would accept me and we would start dating. Not only would that be weird, the way he looks at Ladybug, I knew I would be only a replacement. I didn't want that, I wanted him to be happy, no matter who did that. If it was Ladybug, I'll help him. After all, that's what friends are for, right?
"Cochon?" She looked at me like she still didn't trust me.
"I'm sorry I failed to show earlier, I was busy." I did a bow to her, pretending I had a skirt that I lifted, and put my left foot behind my right.
She ignored my effort to be kind and looked to Cat Noir. "I've got this, you go home."
"But it is purr-ferable to stay with you, Bugaboo!" He was leaning on his baton. I kicked it so he lost his balance and fell.
"Silly kitty, it's time for you to go. Don't worry, you wouldn't have fun anyways, Cochon and I are going to talk about girly stuff."
"Yep. Fashion models, makeup, clothes, boys, the usual," I continued. Ladybug couldn't help but smile, and Cat Noir grumbled something under his breath before going away. The girl in red walked towards me.
"I'm sorry I didn't believe you. I asked, someone. They said they gave it to you. I should have trusted you." Ladybug sounded sorry, and I knew she was.
"It's alright. It is a superhero's job to trust their instincts and just hope for the best. You made the right call, checking to make sure I wasn't lying. It isn't your fault you have had bad experiences in the past, you have learned your lesson," I smiled at her. "Now you just have to learn when a boy likes you."
"What?" She actually seemed surprised, and I laughed.
"Are you kidding? Cat Noir obviously has a major crush on you!" She swatted the idea with her hand.
"No, he is just messing ar-"
"Hawkmoth!" I shouted, realized I forgot to add the rest of the sentence, which most likely explained the confused look on Ladybug's face. "Oh, I, uh, High! Place! The Akuma attacks have been all over Paris, right?"
"Yeah, we already knew that. What are you getting at?"
"I mean, we need to look at the tallest buildings in the corners of the city where you can see the majority of the city. Perhaps through a window of some sort."
"I should call-"
"No, don't call Cat Noir. He needs to rest and think of new ways to tell you he likes you." She blushed just a bit, and we decided I would look on the right side of town while she would look to the left. We met back as I saw the sun beginning to rise.
"Nothing. You?" Ladybug was exhausted.
"The only building I found was the Agreste mansion, but there isn't a window," Ladybug nodded tiredly. "Do you want me to take you home?"
"No, I'm fine. I'll see you tomorrow," she flung her yoyo somewhere in the distance and I yawned once, although she had yawned at least twice while speaking. I looked at my bracelet I had put on my ankle and used my lasso to swing myself into the subway entrance next to my apartment complex. My mom had already left, at four. I was in my sweatshirt and yoga pants, just casually walking down the street. I used the key I had around my neck to get into the room and I got changed and ready for school, and by six, I was already on my way to school. Despite the fact I had gotten no sleep last night, I felt as energized as I possibly could. Daizzy was in my shirt pocket and I told him about everything that happened last night, and over the past week or so.
"I missed you, Daizzy."
"I missed you, Sam!" We walked into the room, and I only saw Nathaniel drawing, Juleka talking to some older guy with black and blue hair, and Adrien mumbling to himself with Lila staring at him from the back of the classroom. Out of curiosity, I walked over to Juleka and the boy.
"Hey, who are you?"
His voice was calm, deep, and relaxing. His eyes were a gentle blue, and he had a guitar slung on his back. "I'm Luka, and I assume you're Samantha?" He had a gentle smile. He resembled Juleka, both seemed shy, but they clearly had a lot of personality.
"Nope, I don't go by Samantha. It sounds too, I don't know. I'm Sam."
"Hello, Sam. Are you new here?"
"Yeah, I moved here from America last week. I write the Catablog." I was proud of that, even if no one else cared.
"Have you met Al-"
"Oh, yeah! Marinette too!" At the mention of her name, his cheeks turned a shade of pink, and looked to the floor.
"Do you like music?"
"Of course! Why?"
Juleka looked to her brother, who was smiling kindly at me now. "Are you sure we need someone else?"
"Why not? She's outgoing, and she has a song in her heart she wants to be sung."
I felt out of the loop. "Uh, what's going on? I don't have a song in my heart."
"Of course you do, Sam." I felt like he was looking into my soul through my eyes, and I shifted my weight on my legs, somewhat awkwardly. "Everyone does. We need a backup singer for our band, would you be interested?" I put my hands in a defensive stance and backed up, my face cold as ice.
"Oh, no. I don't. My voice sounds like a goose! Ha. Ha. Me? A singer? No! I can't! I would just make the audience's ears bleed!" I ended up backing up into a desk, and I apologized to it before returning to my seat next to Nathaniel, who was sketching Marinette in a gorgeous dress.
"That went well. You realize you just apologized to a desk, right?" He asked, no longer as shy as before. I put my head on the table.
"Shut up."
I heard footsteps and Luka's voice right next to me. "Are you alright, goose?" I lifted my head and smiled confidently.
"I'm fine, thanks!" Great! So now my new nickname is "Goose".
He knelt down next to me. I realized he must be at least fifteen or sixteen. Most of the class had already filed in except for Nino, Alya, and Mari. "Don't be afraid of what you can do, embrace it. I can tell your heart wants to express itself, but you put everyone else before your heart's song." What the heck was this guy doing? It felt like he was digging into my brain and exposing my thoughts.
"That was sweet, but I really don't sing. I prefer to hang out with my friends instead of screeching like a wild animal." He frowned and stood up, waving to his sister as he exited the classroom. Ms. Bustier entered the room, and I looked at my phone. I had just been sitting here for an hour. Class began at eight, and it was seven thirty.
"You should listen to Luka, he knows what goes on in people's hearts," Nathaniel suggested. I looked at what he was drawing and I saw it was Marinette in a Paris inspired ballgown dancing with him in a black and white suit.
"You have a major crush on your friend."
His face turned the same color of red as his hair. I chuckled and went to talk to Adrien, me sitting in the same spot Nino usually sat. The blond boy covered the paper and smiled at me. "Hey, Sam. How are you?"
"I'm good, Luka tried to recruit me into his band." Adrien looked ahead, in deep thought.
"I'm in the band. I play the keyboard. Rose sings, Ivan plays the drums, Luka and Juleka play the guitar, and Marinette is our designer. What did he want you for?"
"He wanted me to sing. Apparently I 'have a song in my heart', and I am too selfless."
"Wow, you just got here and already you know nearly everyone." I took a deep breath, knowing he was right. And here I thought I wouldn't have any friends. When I took the deep breath, I realized Adrien smelled just like camembert cheese. I gave him a surprise hug, which he just stiffened up, not really doing anything. I let go, smiling widely.
"I'm sorry, you smell just like my favorite cheese!"
He lifted his shirt and sniffed it before going pale. "Oh, well, see I-"
Alya and Nino came into the room just before the bell rang, and I went to sit next to Nathaniel, not waiting to hear Adrien's explanation. Now, I wanted camembert. We went through attendance and had begun to start fifteen minutes of reading, and about ten minutes in, I noticed Marinette walk in. Lila raised her hand in the row next to me, smiling evily.
"Ms. Bustier! Marinette came in late!" The teacher turned to the girl in pigtails as she sat down.
"What happened this time?"
"I, uh, slept in."
Ms. Bustier carried on with the class and the day dragged on. At lunch, Marinette was telling all five of us about her outfits, as the rest of the group wanted to hear every detail about their own, I simply refused.
"I told you, I'm just going to wear something from my closet. I don't want you to have to make six outfits, and in two months?"
"I could use a helper, are you free tonight?" She asked me.
I got on my phone and began texting my mom.
SamCam: May I please hang out with one of my friends after school to help with a project?
Mom: Sure, just be home by eight. Who is it?
SamCam: Marinette, the daughter of the bakery owners near the school.
Mom: Sure!
"Yep! Should I meet at your house?"
"Can I come and help with you girls?" Adrien piped up. Marinette froze and turned into a stuttering mess.
"Y-you i-in m-my room? Sounds sure, goo! Ah! I mean Tonight, no god! I-I-" I held my hand up to stop her, and looked to Adrien.
"She means yes. How about we come around four since school ends around three? That way you can get everything ready for us." Marinette smiled widely at Adrien and nodded. I face palmed myself. How does this idiot not know she has a crush on him?
"Oh, okay," he smiled with his eyes closed. Lunch ended, then all my classes ended. I hung out with Adrien at the park until it was time for us to go.
I decided I would do something for Marinette, even though she might hate me for doing this for her, it was obvious, and I knew she would have a hard time doing it herself. "Do you like Marinette?"
"Of course! She is an amazing friend! Although I feel bad because whenever she's around me, she acts really weirdly. I think I make her uncomfortable."
Entire Fandom enters the story and just begin beating him.
"What are you doing? What have I done? Stop!" <- Adrien's screams for help as the fandom beats him to death for calling Marinette an "amazing friend" with no apparent knowledge to her crazy crush! Alright, take a deep breath and try not to kill him. Unless you let me help. I'll help with the body.
"Adrien!" I turned around and saw Lila coming up to us. Adrien didn't seem to have much enthusiasm with her coming up to him.
Enthusiasm? Any scouts? I did that on purpose!
"Lila keeps lying to everyone, including me and the entire grade. She said she was friends with Ladybug, but then she showed up and confronted her," Adrien whispered in my ear.
"Adrien! I am so happy to see you! Sam! I heard you were born in America! I have been to every state twice!" I stood up from the bench. I didn't like being lied to.
"Listen, I have heard tale of your lies. I don't care much for lying people, and I would suggest you stay away from me and Adrien. I am protective when it comes to my friends, and it I hear someone is making them upset, or hurting them, I won't be nice-"
"So we have another superhero, don't we?" She put a finger just below my neck and pressed me back, shoving me into a tree. "Don't embarrass me in front of Adrien, and I won't make your life miserable!"
I couldn't help but smile. "With what? I don't have a crush on anyone, so you can't use that against me, and I actual respect other people, as long as I receive the same respect. So thanks, but once you lie once, nobody can believe you, so I highly doubt you have been to every state twice, or even that you are friends with Ladybug. Perhaps I don't have proof, but I know my friends know, and that is all that matters."
"You won't have any friends once I'm-"
I chuckled. "Ha! Have you noticed who I hang around? Alya, Nino," I was checking them off on my fingers. "Adrien, Marinette, and Nathaniel. Also, they would believe me before they would believe you. Also, since I am such good friends with Adrien," I pointed to the boy staring at us from the bench. "I can just tell him everything you just told me." I held up my phone I had pressed record on when I first stood up. I threw it to Adrien, which he caught and put it in his pocket.
Lila took me in a hug and whispered two very important words in my ear that didn't fear me. "It's on." She left the park on that note, waving sweetly towards Adrien as she flew past. Now I knew why Marinette hated her, first of all, Lila was a lier, secondly, she liked Adrien.
"That was fun." I sat next to Adrien and shut his mouth for him with my fingers. I heard a small squeak from my shirt, and I decided to cover that up with a laugh, but a fake one. "May I please have my phone back?" Adrien nodded and handed it back to me.
"That was really brave. I don't know anyone besides Ladybug who could stand up to her like that." He scooted closer to me so he was right in my face, and I just sat as close to the edge of the bench as I could, I was falling off. "Isn't that a coincidence?" I slipped off the bench onto the floor when I realized, he thought I was Ladybug. I still had to make him believe I wasn't a superhero of any kind, just because I was sure some day I might make a daytime appearance as Cochon.
"I, uh, no! I couldn't even be a superhero! I just moved to America last week!" I began laughing. "My hair doesn't even match hers! I have long, brown, curly hair! She had black, short hair!" I laughed, and sat back up on the bench.
"Yeah, I, I guess you're right. Do you know who Cat Noir is?" He looked a bit embarrassed, and also partially scared.
"I-no. Why?"
He began rubbing the back of his neck, "I, no reason! I just figured if you wrote a blog on him, you must know his secret identity!"
I sat back calmly, "Even if I did know, which I don't, it isn't my secret to tell. Cat Noir would tell who he was to only a person he trusted, and as far as I know, you have never even met him. It's called a secret identity for a reason, and that reason is his own."
"So, you wouldn't tell anyone if you actually did know who he was? You wouldn't post it on your blog?"
I looked at Adrien, who was concentrating on the ground. "What's up with all these questions about Cat Noir? Weren't you just asking me if I was Ladybug?"
"I-," my alarm on my phone interrupted him.
"Oops! Saved by the bell! Come on, we should get going. It's 3:40, so if we leave now, we will get there just in time to get some croissants before we even touch the fabric," I stood up, throwing my backpack back on my back. "Also, you are wearing my favorite cheese," the boy stood up, walking next to me.
"What?"
"Camembert. You smell exactly like camembert."
"Oh, yeah, I 'love' it," I could tell he was lying, but I wasn't sure why. What are you hiding, Adrien Agreste? Little did I know, I was being watched by the one person I feared, a parent who felt disrespected and threatened.
Note from the Author
Hello! I won't be posting this story for a while because I am waiting for ideas to come. I won't be doing spoilers for this unless you want me to, and I finally have a more realistic schedule of when I will be posting chapter for ALL OF MY STORIES:
Whenever inspiration hits me, I type it up, and I have access to Wi-Fi. Sorry, but that's the truth.
I will stop posting little note like that with my schedule, so yeah. Just because it is getting kind of confusing. Anyways, I really would love to hear what you think should happen next! I am not going to make Samantha say she is in "love" with anyone, and I am not going to give her a big crush until someone tells me to do something with her romantic life!
#HappyandAlone
#Adrien
#Nathaniel
#CatNoir
If you have someone else you want her to be with, just put a hashtag before their name, and the majority rules.
Will Sam figure out Cat Noir's identity? What will happen at the formal? Will Marinette work up the courage to finally ask Adrien to the dance, or will she need a bit of help? What is going on between Cat Noir and Cochon, a bit of childish rivalry? So many questions, what should be the answers? Let me know by commenting and I will do my best to acknowledge your ideas and add them to the story. Also, tell how you think the story should end! I am open to suggestions, and I encourage you to help me write the story!
