Wait...WHAAAAAT? Just Kidding. -Ish.
Back to Samantha's view, people!
I opened my eyes, staring at a ceiling. Wait...What? I sat upright with a bolt, eyes wide. I could feel a blanket covering me from feet to torso. I looked around to see Marc and Nathaniel, both at the foot of the bed, mid-conversation.
After this moment or so, I went into full freak-out mode. I stumbled out of the bed, falling on my face because, of course! The blanket had wrapped around my moving legs.
I felt an arm gently touch my arm, and for just a moment, I saw a small child. Jake. I held the small infant in my arms, the boy identifiable with the streak in his hair.
As quickly as it came, I was staring at the carpeted floor with my hands the only things keeping my face from getting serious carpet burns.
Somehow, I managed to stand up, and I could hear a voice that I recognized as Nathaniel's speak to me. "Samantha? What happened?" I didn't answer him, my mind still trying to grasp what was happening.
"W-Where am I?" The two boys looked at me with alarm evident in their eyes.
"You are in my room, Sam." I looked around and saw a door half open, revealing a bathroom, not even paying any mind to Nathaniel's comment.
I felt a rush of nausea begin to form in my stomach, and I ran to the bathroom, locking the door behind me.
As I knelt before the toilet, I could see my long hair surrounding the bowl as I got rid of any food I had left in my stomach. I sat back on my knees, the whispers from behind the door hardly audible. I moved closer to the door and strained my ears just because my curiosity decided to present itself at the same moment my throat burned.
"Do you think she's alright?" Marc.
"She's been missing for more than two days and seemed very alarmed." The deep voice could only be from Nathaniel.
With no warning, I was suddenly no longer staring towards the bottom of the sink, but instead looking at the couch from the house my mom and I lived in with my father.
I backed up, walking the crab walk until my arms gave out and I realized I saw my father hold my mother's arm close to his face. All while his blue eyes shown with pure hatred unlike I had ever remembered, her dark eyes showed only terror.
My father's crew cut brown hair was greased over to one side, his black suit was as nice as ever. My mother, she was not dressed as formally. She wore her waitress uniform, her curly hair resting just above her shoulders, only partially in a ponytail.
"Where is she?" My father spoke in such a stern tone, his grip on his wife's wrist tightened, the pain evident on her face. The woman's eyes filled with tears that threatened to fall as she answered with an apparent sob.
"I, I don't know, Jeremy! I swear!" My father pushed her away, looking at her with distaste as she held her wrist.
"This is the third time this week she has run away!" He stepped towards her, my mother stepped back with her arms near ready to shield her face. It felt strange, I didn't know what was happening.
I stood up, looking down at the hard wooded floor beneath me before returning my glance to the married couple, anger rising in my stomach. Anger, and betrayal.
"P-Please!" My father grabbed my mom by her hair, pulling her closer to him, her face turned to me.
Her eyes were squinted shut, cheeks wet with tears, tiredness worn on her face.
"Tell me where she is!"
"I don't know!" She screamed over his voice. My father threw her across the room, and as he approached her body in a fit of temper, I ran forward to reach her first.
Well, I tried. I ended up slamming face-first into an invisible barrier right in front of her. The man who I confused for a kind man, forced my mother to her feet, and all I could do was pound on the wall.
"Don't touch her!" I screamed, my throat hurting from the volume as my dad held my mother by her shirt, interrogating her.
"Where is she?"
"Jeremy! I-"
"Don't you dare say you don't know!" He punched her, sending her to the ground.
I continued pounding on the door, "Stop! Please! Get away from her!"
The scene suddenly changed to a shadow of a person, a woman. She stood at the edge of the bridge, overlooking the water. Her long hair flowed through the air to the side, the sun in front of her made her silhouette appear to be black. She wore a long dress that flowed in the wind, her arms by her side.
"Samantha," I took a step backwards, the woman's voice so broken, I could feel her pain. "I know you might not be able to hear me, but I am sorry." I could tell she was choking back her tears, trying to be strong.
"It's your mother." My legs collapsed, and I knew what she was about to do. "I am so sorry, I should have known. I, I could have stopped you! I could have stopped," she bent over, her sobs muffled by what I thought was her hand over her mouth. "I could have stopped Cochon. Why did you have to play hero! I, I, we needed you!" She screamed the last two sentences with such emotion, I covered my mouth, though that did little to silence me as I watched my mother fall from the bridge.
With my mother's scream echoing in my head, I found myself curled in a ball, laying on the bridge, my eyes shut, tears streaming down my face. The scream seemed to last forever, the noise piercing my skull. I realized I was screaming, even after hers ended, but I couldn't stop. I felt like my heart had just been ripped from my chest, leaving a hole.
I was suddenly no longer looking at the sight of the bricks, but a flash of a goat entered my vision, and I could feel a rush of warmth on the top of my shoulder.
"Sam?"
I opened my eyes, realizing just how cold I was. I saw Marc sitting before me, his green eyes full with concern. Sitting next to him was Nathaniel, holding a glass of water and a package of crackers.
I sat upright and backed up against the bathtub, staring at the two as I propped my knees up and rest my arms by my side. Nathaniel handed me the water, which I gratefully accepted.
"What happened?" They didn't know. I didn't know what happened. I just knew that I couldn't tell them anything until I figured out for myself.
"What day is it?" I asked the boys, ignoring Nathaniel's questions. The two exchanged glances, Nathaniel looking to the ground as Marc answered.
"It's Thursday morning, w-where have you been?" I stood up, leaning on the wall for support until Nathaniel rushed to my aid and held my right arm just around my elbow.
"I have to go," I had to make sure my mother was alright.
"Sam," I realized the bathroom door had been knocked down. "You were just in here, screaming. I don't think you should be alone right now." The concern in Nath's voice was clear, and a simple glance in his eyes showed me he wasn't going to budge.
"What about my mother? Is she..." I stopped, afraid to finish the sentence. If I had gone missing for a couple of days, could it be possible she...
"She's fine, w-we spoke to her yesterday," Marc confirmed. "She's just worried about you." He got his phone from his back pocket, and began typing.
"Marc? Have you found her?" Mom.
She was alive, perhaps it was just a dream, maybe the fever I knew I must have. My legs gave out, and I felt dizzy. The only thing preventing me from falling to the ground was Nathaniel.
"Yes, Ms. Ghostene. She seems a bit ill, would it be alright if she stayed at my house tonight?" Nathaniel stated.
"C-can I talk to her?" She sounded distraught and tired, I felt guilt eating at my stomach.
"Why did you have to go play hero?"
Just a dream. My mother was alive.
"Mom?" A moment of silence, before I heard her voice once more.
"Salmon?" The relief I felt when she said the nickname was indescribable. "Where have you been? Are you alright?" Marc stood so he was able to hold his phone closer to me.
"I'm fine, I'm just really, tired." My heavy eyelids were succeeding in blocking the bright bathroom light from sight as I fell into a deep sleep.
I woke up, laying in the bed once more. Now that I knew I was in Nathaniel's bedroom, I was able to actually take a moment to look around the room and allow myself to absorb everything in a calm manner. It was a simple room, much like my own, with the exception of the blue bed set. There was a small seating area right near a window, a desk, and many drawings scattered about. Some were of landscapes, others were of the heroes.
"You're awake." I turned my attention to Marc, notebook and pencil in hand, sitting at one end of the seating window while Nathaniel slept on the other.
Just behind him, I noticed the rising of the sun. I looked at my watch, 5:59. I began removing the blanket atop me, ignoring Marc's questions of what I was doing. "I have to go to school. I, I have to go toschool." The boy jumped up, careful not to disturb the other, before walking over to me and awkwardly sitting next to me.
"You h-have a fever, y-you can't go." Neither of us looked at each other, and I stood up to only fall to my hands and knees. "I'll c-call your mother, just lay b-back down." I continued to ignore his protest as I finally managed to walk to the door that wasn't knocked down. If I had been in a better mental state, I would have asked what happened.
"See you atschool." I knew my words were slurring, but I had already missed enough. I heard a sigh, then the scribbling of a pencil.
"Fine, but at least let me come with s-so Nathaniel doesn't kill me." I nodded in agreement as Marc opened the door for me.
We walked down the stairs, Marc's head hung low, his shoulders forward, and his left hand holding his right arm.
"What happened?" He turned his glance to me.
"Y-You don't remember?" I shook my head, and he let out a sigh as we approached the front door where, gentleman that he was, he opened the door for me to walk through. "Nathaniel and I were working on a c-comic book in the park around three. I, I went to get snacks and when I got back, you had just rolled to Nathaniel's feet. We didn't know what to do, so we just brought you back to Nath's room. S-Seemed like a good idea at the time."
I looked up from the ground to his eyes. He seemed tired, distracted. "I see."
We walked in uncomfortable silence until we reached the fountain, where Marc insisted I sit to take a break and wash up in the bathroom. Without hesitation, I sped towards the building, but not for the reason he thought.
The moment I locked the door, I could feel movement materialize in my shoe. I turned around to see a small, pink kwami with a black dot around one eye.
"Sammy! I hope you are done with time travel now?" I smirked at him as I gently poked his stomach.
"Of course! So, something really weird-"
"The fit in the bathroom? What did you see?" Daizzi appeared more intrigued than concerned as he began to slowly levitate in a circle before me.
"I saw my mother and my father, but we were in one of my homes in America when I was younger." I didn't want to go into too much detail, on fear of making it that more real.
"Yes! What else?"
"I, I saw a goat and my mother," I paused with a tear edging my eyelashes. I took a deep breath and pushed the words out. "She died."
"Sam, you must have gotten the ability to see into the future and the past!" He flew around my head before tapping my nose.
"Wha-"
"Samantha? A-Are you okay?"
"I'm fine!" I whispered to the kwami to ensure Marc couldn't overhear, "Wait, so let's forget that for a moment. If Ladybug's magic brought me back, why did it take so long?"
"I don't know, Sam. We should ask Master Fu tonight. I don't think you'll be left alone until then anyways." He hugged my nose before flying to my shirt pocket where I buttoned him inside.
I flushed the toilet and looked at the mirror. I rinsed my face, untangling my hair with my fingers. I tucked in my plaid shirt, looking at my waist in the mirror. I untucked the shirt just a small amount so it wasn't hugging my torso so. I walked out to see Marc with a breakfast dessert in one hand, which I accepted, wolfing down the foreign treat in a matter of seconds.
We began heading to the school once more, and I could see Ladybug out of the corner of my eye, landing on Marinette's patio.
At 6:48, we finally reached the school, and I sat down at my seat. I was the only student in the room with the exception of Marc.
"I'll leave once Nath gets here. The class has been really worried about you." I felt guilty.
"Who's been searching?"
"Well, Cochon went missing too, so mainly just Ladybug and Chat Noir. The first day, Alya led a search party. Everyone else has begun to give up hope except for Marinette, Alya, and Nathaniel." I smiled at him. "So, where were you?" My smile dropped-I had no clue what my cover story was to be. Then again, why lie?
"I was trying to get a close-up with Chat Noir while he and Ladybug were fighting Time Hop, then I was blown into a cave." So, not the entire truth, but close enough.
"You have to be more careful-" Marc was cut off by an irritated voice as the speaker walked into the classroom on her phone.
"Nino! She is still out there and I won't sleep until we find-" Alya's face softened to shock when she turned her head and eyes to me. I waved awkwardly, confused as to why Marc suddenly backed up to the other side of the room with the fear of God in his eyes. Alya's confusion melted away nearly instantly as she came walking towards me in a huff. "Samantha Ghostene, where the hell have you been?"
"Alya? What's going on?" I glanced towards Nino's voice coming from her phone. She ignored him, punching my arm with more force than I expected.
"Ouch, Alya, I-"
"You had us all worried!" She forced me into a hug, and I could see Marc smiling from behind her.
"Babe!"
"I'll see you at school, Nino." She hung up the phone, stepping away from me. "Where have you been, girl?" She sent me another punch to the arm.
"Ah! Alya!" I stood up and walked over to Marc, using him almost as a shield. He caught on, and wisely walked to the other side of me. "I was trying to get footage for my Catablog, and Time Hop zapped me!"
"You have to learn to keep a distance from the akuma when-" She realized what she was saying, and took a deep breath. "What are you doing at school?"
"I didn't want to miss more than I already had. Alya, calm down, I'm-"
"Alya, what- Samantha!" Nino's eyes lit up as he came to give me a high five, receiving a glare from Alya instead. "Ah, I, I mean where have you been, dude? Alya's been worried sick." I nodded as the girl told the story of my disappearance with a tinge of irritation in her voice. Mylene and Ivan came in, and I was once again put through the routine of telling the same story and being told to "be careful". Rose and Alix came in, Alix called it "sick". Chloe came in and muttered something to Sabrina that I doubt was all that friendly. Juleka and Luka came in, Juleka calling it "wild" while Luka said I "really need to be careful." Max and Kim came, then Nath.
"Why are you here? Marc!" He walked towards us, and Marc smiled nervously.
"Nathaniel, she was going to go with or without me." The two separated and began their own silent argument.
Adrien walked in, his eyes drooping. He seemed miserable and exhausted. When his eyes rested on me, his green eyes seemed to show a shine of hope. I walked towards where he stood, appearing in shock. I was about to say something when he suddenly forced me into a hug. The moment he touched me, I could see a small black cat with a ladybug resting on it's nose.
I could feel Adrien move away, resting his arm on my shoulder. Are you alright?" His voice sounded distant as the scene changed to a slightly older Marinette standing before Adrien, cheeks a deep red.
"Adrien, I know you love another girl, but I like you, as more than just a friend and if you only see me as that, then I will go with him. I can't stay hung up on you forever, so should I move on?" Her eyes seemed terrified, and Adrien sent her a reassuring smile.
"Samantha?"
"Mari, I-"
I felt the warmth from my arm leave, the vision disappearing with it. I also felt a tinge of disappointment enter my stomach, curiosity of what the blonde boy was about to say. I pushed the thoughts and feelings away, relaxing my facial expression as I looked to the worrisome eyes that looked at me.
"Yeah?" I blinked with a blank face, acting as if nothing had happened.
"Are you alright?" I nodded.
"I'm fine, Adrien. I think I am just recovering from a fever." His eyes darted from mine, most likely attempting to figure out if I was lying. He let out a sigh before walking around me to sit next to Nino, who seemingly was just finishing a conversation with Alya.
"Good morning, class. Samantha!" Ms. Bustier entered the classroom, greeting me with a smile. "It is so nice to find you back at school!" I uncomfortably walked to my seat in front of Nath, Lila walking in with a smile on her face as she came to hug me with a false expression of relief on her face.
"Oh my gosh! We have been worried sick about you! I am so glad to see you back, Samantha!" She spoke loud enough for everyone to hear before she lowered her voice so only I could hear her words: "O hope you had fun with Nathaniel, 'cause once I'm done, My jaw dropped, how could a person be so cruel? She pushed herself away from me before walking to her seat next to Nathaniel.
"Alya! What was so-" Marinette came running in just as the bell rang, spotting me the moment she walked in. "Samantha!" She looked exhausted, and I remembered Ladybug stopping by Marinette's just an hour or two ago.
"Marinette! How nice of you to join us! Please take your seat so we may proceed to attendance." Marinette xdid as the teacher said, class occurring as originally
I hardly paid attention to the notes I wrote, my mind runnontg through all the scenarios of what Lila could do to hurt Nathaniel. Why today? I just came back to school, and she chose that morning to threaten against Nath? I eventually came to the conclusion that I despised her more than Hawk Moth.
When class came to an end, I was relieved to know that I was the student to be sitting next to Nathaniel in the classes to follow until lunch. After seeing Lila keep her distance from the boy, I decided it was safe to part ways during the meal. As Marc and Nath went to sit at their own table, talking about what I guessed as comic book stuff, I could see Lila parting ways with her friends.
Just as I was ready to set my tray down on the table, I recognized a smile come in my direction from the liar of the school, approaching the boys with confidence that outweighed anything I had ever observed. I dropped my tray down, missing the table and sending my food to the floor. I turned my body around and began walking to stop Lila when I received yet another vision.
"Don't worry, Gabriel. I'll make sure you get someone to akumatize." Lila was on a bench, speaking into her phone with such an evil smile stretched on her face.
I brushed my shoulder as I continued walking, anxious not to draw attention. The slight touch sent me to see a ladybug sitting upon a flower. I felt my foot hit something, and I tripped over Marinette, her food balanced on her head. She managed to remain standing, leaving me on all fours.
I scrambled to my feet, readying myself to launch myself towards Lila to confront her about my vision. Thankfully, Marinette grabbed my arm, her face lined with concern. She pulled me back to the lunch table, seating me across the table from her where she sat with her tray before her.
"Sam, I am so sorry about the other day! My magic yoyo was taken, and-" I rest my hand on her own, locking eye contact.
"Mari, it is fine. I am just glad you finally managed to bring me back, whenever it was possible." I took my hand back as Alya, Adrien, and Nino joined us. Adrien sat beside Marinette, most likely just because Alya and Nino left him no room on our side.
We ate with laughs and smiles, the students giving me their fruit because they worry too much about my well being.
The rest of the day went by, my mind in a whole other world. My thoughts drifted off to the visions. The vision of my mother, my father. The goat, Lila, the cat and ladybug. A part of my mind hoped this was all just some strange dream.
The final bell rang, and I sprinted to the apartment. I made it within fifteen minutes, maybe less. I saw m mom on the couch, standing up to hug me. I let go of my bag, returning her hug as she combed through my hair with her fingers.
We ate pasta, and I decided not to touch on the vision of my father. I would talk to her about it some other day.
We finally went into our own bedrooms, and I slowly crept out my bedroom window. I noticed it had begun to rain, the sun slowly creeping below the buildings across the city. I swung my lasso so i wrapped around a billboard with Adrien's face on it.
When I finally reached Master Fu's, Wayzz was there to greet me.
"Samantha? Where have you been? You gave Master Fu's heart quite a scare!" His green eyes were wide, and I simply smiled as I stood in my costume.
"Time Hop sent me to the past, then Bunnix sent me to the future, and the Miraculous Ladybugs brought me back and now I can see into the past, and the future." Wayzz blinked, and I flashed a smile. "Is Master Fu available?"
"He is currently sleeping, but I shall go wake-" I cupped the small creature in my hands so he was trapped.
"No, I'll come back tomorrow. Don't wake the man." I released him, and he nodded in a doubtful manner before flying through the door. I sighed, then walked out the apartment complex.
I could have just gone back to my bedroom, slept in my bed. Instead, I began my night hike of Paris. The silence was comforting, only the occasional sound of raindrops filled the air. I swung myself to a random roof and let one leg dangle off the ledge while I maintained the other with my hand resting upon it.
After a while, the rain had finally picked up, and I looked from the outline of buildings to the sky above. I enjoyed the feeling and sound more than anything else, it calmed me. It made me feel safe. I felt a grin sneak it's way upon my face as I closed my eyes.
After what seemed like a second, despite the few minutes it moght have been, I heard a few footsteps manifest from behind me, the the rain stopped. Well, I heard it, but I no longer felt it.
I opened my eyes to see a black umbrella being held over my head by my favorite cat in black. "What is my porkchop doing in the rain?" I took the umbrella from him, Chat Noir sitting next to me with his legs crossed.
"I am enjoying the calm and the peace, it seems so rare these days." He glanced at me and I handed him the umbrella. Our fingers touched momentarily, and I received another vision. I was observing the scene of two teenagers on the school's steps. One with blond hair, a male, was holding a black umbrella at the same time a female with blue hair held it. When I stood to get a closer look, I was able to recognize these people as my classmates. "Adrien? Marinette?" I heard a distant voice come from beside me.
"Cochon? What about Adrien?" I ignored the question, the speaker sounding nervous. I took a step forward-
"Cochon!"
-just as the umbrella closed on Marinette.
"Back up!"
The two laughed, and I took another step in hopes of hearing their conversation. I couldn't feel the floor beneath me, and I felt as if I was falling. I felt a string wrap around my left leg, ending the fall. I saw a quick flash of a ladybug on a flower before disappearing, leaving me upside down to see the ground just a few inches from my face. I looked at my ankle and saw Ladybug's yoyo wrapped. She was standing on the rooftop next to Chat, both wearing concern expressions.
I waved awkwardly and released a small laugh. "I, uh, I should tell you guys something..."
Proof Author is Alive:
Nearly an entire month. It took me nearly an entire month to finish this part. If it makes it any better, I have begun working on the third book. :) So, give me some time, AND IDEAS, for the next part. I have drawn some drawings I will be posting soon, INCLUDING THE OUTFITS FOR THE DANCE! So, I have a few cute moments planned, but this story will be coming to an end within, well, let's assume five more chapters. Then, this sequel, will revolve more around Adrien and Marinette/Ladybug and Chat Noir. So, as always, give me suggestions on how to make this story better!
Adios!
