If there was one thing the princess absolutely hates, it's marriage for the throne.

She doesn't understand why the queen needs to have a king.

Sure, it's the life of a royal, and they want the bloodline to continue. However, it is fixed and guaranteed the crowned royalty shall marry before coronation.

She definitely does not want to get married, although, her decision doesn't matter when it comes to the throne.

That's how she got to the meeting room.

Her 5 brothers seated on their seats, discussing about the future of Kingdom Tomorrow.

"I think, it's time for Ava to open up," Taehyun points at his sister... Well, step-sister.

"I don't want to- I am not marrying a person I am not clear with," Ava crossed her arms.

"Ava, we already had this talk. Mom and dad wants you to marry before coronation," Yeonjun stated, annoyed with her decision.

"Why can't I rule without marriage? All these men wants is power and wealth. I am not bound to give them that," Ava protested.

"You are left with no choice, Ava!" Yeonjun banger his palms on the table as he stood.

Ava did the same, both fuming with anger and annoyance. If it weren't obvious that they're on different boats then now it is.

"That's what you think! I have a choice and I am going to stick with it," Ava sat back down.

"You are not going to stick with your pesty decision-," Soobin cuts Yeonjun off.

"Just sit- we're here to discuss, not debate," Soobin cleared all the angry words, even if the emotion lingers in the air.

Silence takes over.

"As an idea to make our crowned princess open with possible suitors, we could hold a ball," Beomgyu raised his hand.

Ava scowled at the older who immediately put his hand down.

"Amazing! Genius! We shall hold a ball," Yeonjun smiled widely.

Ava wailed and stood from her chair.

"Fucking hate it here," she makes her way to the door. She could hear Yeonjun's angry voice shouting her name.

"Do not talk to me like that! We're doing this for you," Yeonjun made his way towards her.

He held his palm to grab hers, only to be grabbed by Ava. She twists his arm and put it on his back.

She kicked his legs for him to kneel in front of her, his back faced her. The boy lets out an angry growl.

"Do not," Ava pushed him away from her. Quickly, she leaves the room.

"Ugh, I hate handling her," Yeonjun kicked the door shut.

The boys watched in disbelief, all clueless to how they could convince Ava to hand her finger for marriage.

Ava was mad, so mad to the point she threw a dagger on the castle's walls.

Servants and guards watched the angry princess walk away with shocked and scared eyes.

Ava stopped by the one palce she feels comfortable in, training fields.

Now, it surely wasn't a place for a princess, yet it made her feel independent. Hence, the reason she doesn't need marriage.

Future guards to be trained their swordsmanship and archery.

She noticed how the head guards strictly taught their students. Raised voices and emotionless expressions are normal in the fields.

Her arms crossed as she watched their guards learn from their supremacists.

"Princess Ava," she turns around. The same blank expression on her face when she faced the servant.

"Prince Soobin and Prince Yeonjun are requesting your presence in the throne room." The servant kept her head down.

Ava lets out a heavy sigh, a sigh well known as refusal; "tell them no."

The servant, as loyal as ever, said nothing. She bowed deeper before she walks away to deliver the princess's words.

"General," she walked towards the head guards who monitored the trainings.

"Ah, good afternoon, Princess! May I help you today?" The general asked, his voice deep yet let out a sweet tone.

"I was wondering if I could practice my swordmanship with you tomorrow afternoon. Is that alright?" Ava asked him.

"Of course, princess! You will see me here tomorrow afternoon," the general did a little bow.

Ava smiled at his action, delighted with his sweet personality, despite the man being feared by hundreds.

"Great, I will see you tomorrow," Ava bid goodbye to the general.

She exits the training fields and entered the castle. The one place she didn't want to be in, currently.

The place reeks dread for her. She never knew where everything went downhill with the rules and orders.

Yeonjun, especially... He may be the oldest and that her father trusts him very much, but in her opinion, he was being a bother.

He forces her to do what a normal princess does which she doesn't like. He forces her to do this and that which she despises.

He's treating her like she's dependent, despite having complete knowledge that she could take care of herself.

"Jin Ava!" She heard the familiar name scream her name.

She turned to the side to see Yeonjun. An annoyed Yeonjun walking towards her.

She wailed before she fleed from Yeonjun.

"Ava, stop this instant!" Yeonjun chased after the girl who continued to run.

She sees Huening Kai exit a room. She stopped her steps and stared at her younger step brother.

"Huening, be a sweet brother, and distract Yeonjun for me. Thank you," Ava patted the shoulders of the confused prince.

She fleed once more. She glanced back and saw Huening Kai distracting Yeonjun.

She shut her room's door shut.

The thought of thanking Huening Kai stuck in her head.
