Ch 10

Sarah Gilmore

"Absolutely not!" I huffed.

"Sarah, I promise it was only to be able to get a little time with you. It wasn't meant to hurt anyone's feelings." Wes said innocently.

"You are such an ass, Wes Dalton!" I attempted to walk away from him, but he was quicker. This had been the first time we had been able to talk since I found out he had drawn Austin away for an unexpected "emergency." It was hard to believe that Wes had been back in my life for a little over a month.

Wrapping his bare arms around my naked body, he lifted me off my feet and threw me back onto the bed.

"Now Sarah, listen—"

"No," nearly screamed as I flipped over to face him again.

"Sweetness," he cooed as he began crawling towards me on the bed.

"Don't you dare use that against me, Dalton!"

"But baby, you know why I call you Swee—"

"Damnit! I said don't!" I was losing ferocity. Arguing naked was my first mistake and the second was that it was with Wes.

"Sarah, my Sweetness," he lowered the degree of his voice to a dangerous seduction, "can you honestly say that you would have rather gone out with the Austin guy instead of me that night?"

"Damn it!" My body flushed and I wanted to continue being mad at him, but it wasn't working. Instead, hot tears welled up before I could hide them. Snatching a pillow, I covered my face and tried to get my shit together. It was my hope that he hadn't seen, but he did.

"Hey," his voice dripped with concern as he climbed over me. "No tears. I'll stop if it means that much to you. I'm sorry, Sarah."

It wasn't that. Truly, I didn't care what cute nickname he called me or whatever had happened between him and Austin. My head felt like a mess of emotions.

"Please talk to me, Sarah," his voice was a soft caress. It was only when I felt him remove the pillow, that I realized my eyes were shut tight.

With a shaky breath, I finally looked up at him. His rough pads of his fingers brushing away the tears.

"Just overwhelmed," I finally admitted.

"Is this about Austin?"

"No, not really. Just wasn't ready for your," I sputtered as I tried to find words, "disruption to my life!" I tried to give him a smile as I ran my hands over my face.

"Ooh, I like that! The Dalton disruption. Unquestioningly handsome, insanely intelligent," he said in his best movie announcer voice as he peppered kisses across my cheek.

I cut in, "Besides the fact that I can't actually have a serious conversation with you. Insanely?" His chest shook as he laughed at me. "Falling on your blade wasn't too intelligent. I also think you give yourself a little too much credit"

Caressing his jaw, I looked at him and enjoyed the moment. My head cleared of the blockade of emotion and my hunger for him was back.

"Hey! That wasn't my fault. I had gotten shot!" He rebuffed and rolled to lay next to me.

"Right, another reason to question your intelligence," I said as I nipped at his chin and swung my thigh over his lap to sit my bare heat against his thickness. I was always relieved when he and I could turn tension into playful banter. Seemingly forgetting about my emotional moment, he growled at me.

Slowly, I moved against him. Rocking up and down against his chest, his dick jumped and my pussy clenched. Our breaths tangled in huffs between us as my heart thundered in my chest.

Adding pressure, I pressed my soaking core against him and rubbed. Our moans filled my ears and I closed my eyes to enjoy the overwhelming feelings.

"Sarah," he whispered. "Since when do you take things slow like this?"

"Since I want to," I said as I tugged on his ear with my teeth.

"You're in charge Doctor," his words transformed into delicious sounds as I angled my hips and slid him into my folds.

My lip quivered as he filled me. I needed him deeper. His hands gripped my ass and I rose from his chest, pushing with one hand against him to get better leverage to ride him. Pumping his hips to meet mine. I watched as his abs contracted as his body reacted to mine.

Moving in the only way that was helping with my insatiable cravings, I rolled my hips against his. In and out, we built our friction.

Wes grunted with frustration as his hips bucked upwards. The pleasure was building quickly as I slowed and he took over. His pace was fierce as he realized I was letting him take control.

I cried out his name as wave after wave of delicious pleasure vibrated through me. It all ended too quickly as he withdrew from me and pulled me down to the bed. Laying on my front, he straddled my legs and pinned me beneath him.

"Spread those pretty cheeks for me, Sarah." His voice was labored and rough, shooting an excited shiver through me.

Pushing my ass up, I did as he requested. Digging my nails into the flesh of my ass, I felt exposed. Anticipation and excitement mixed in my chest as his rough hands trailed over my arms and sides.

"Ooh, fuck Sarah. You have such a pretty little ass," he murmured as he slid his hand between my cheeks; fingers sliding through my slit as his thumb pressed yo my asshole. "But that isn't my target tonight."

His other hand guided his cock, replacing his fingers. Steering his thick, throbbing cock between my legs, he slid perfectly into my pussy.

"Oh, Wes," I hissed. Grabbing for his thighs, he shackled my arms at my elbows and pulled back.

My walls constricted around him with the thrill of being restrained by him. No one else would have been able to do it. I didn't trust anyone else the way I trusted Wes.

I shivered beneath him as his pace went from quick and needy to slow and savoring. Squirming beneath his weight and feeling my orgasm building.

"Fuck me, Wes!" I needed him to pick up the pace. The rhythm of his thrusts was torturous.

Releasing my arms, he slid a deft hand around and up my chest to my neck. "You want to cum, Sweetness? You're close, aren't you?"

"So close," I moaned. It wasn't a lie, but in the position we were in, there was added pressure low in my stomach. Having him sliding against my ass just made the position so much sweeter.

"Ass up, Sweetness." He had stopped to pull my hips towards him and we moved together. Still buried within me, he moved us into a new position.

When I tried to prop up on my elbows, he forced my face into the pillows. I let out a giggle right before he plunged deep. The aching need wasn't going away so I added my hand to the mix. Flicking back and forth on my clit brought on an all new firestorm.

I panted into the bed with each plunge. Wes's large hand came down hard on my ass with an incredible sting.

When my orgasm threatened to rip me apart, I screamed his name and writhed beneath him. Holding out on my own release to try to come with him.

"Sarah," his hoarseness in his voice told me he was close and forced my walls to grip his cock tighter. "Come for me, Sarah."

His strong hands pulled my body to his. Wrapping a hand in my hair, he pulled my mouth to his. Swallowing my cries, his pace quickened to our breaking point. Closing my eyes as I craned my neck to meet his mouth, my body exploded.

He pushed through his own orgasm, continuing to drive into me fast and hard. The sensations were too much as I collapsed on the bed. Delicious wetness seeped from my pussy as Wes landed on an elbow above me.

Cum!

It was then that I realized we had been reckless. No condom.

Scrambling away from him, I took off for the bathroom. Liquid pleasure oozed down my inner thigh, so I clenched to try not to make too much of a mess before getting to the bathroom.

"Sarah?" I could hear the confusion in his voice as I closed and locked the door. "Shit! Sarah, I'm sorry."

Breathing hard, I realized I couldn't be mad at him.

"Don't worry about it," I yelled as I shut the bathroom door and locked it.

Neither of us slowed down to think about using protection. I hadn't been on the pill since I left Maryland because there hadn't been a need for it.

As I sat on the toilet, I constricted and released my inner muscles to discharge as much of our fluids as I could. With nothing handy to help me, the next best thing was a shower.

With the water getting to temperature, I could hear Wes on the other side of the door. I shook my head and disappeared into my thoughts.

My mind raced.

How bad would it be to actually get pregnant again? Wes's child. It would be different from Romeo, right?

WAIT! Did he even want kids? Did I want more?

Cason and Laurel's faces shone in my thoughts. They were already big. How would they feel about a new baby?

Taking a shaky breath I knew one thing for sure, I'd need my mom. She always knew how to settle my restless energy.

I stepped into the stream of water and inhaled sharply with the heat as It washed over me. Nothing was for sure and I needed to calm down before jumping to any conclusions. I would have to wait at least a few weeks to know whether or not we needed to worry.

By the time I had finished my shower, Wes was sitting at the edge of my bed with concern and guilt written all over his handsome face.

"Sara? I wasn't even thinking."

"Neither was I. It's fine."

"It's fine?"

I gave him a small nod and stood between his clothed thighs. "I'm not worried about it. With my irregular monthly schedule and a history of infertility, I don't want to stress about it."

"There is always a pill that you can take if it will put your mind at ease, isn't there?" Wrapping his arms around my middle, I bit back a smile at his concern for me.

"It's okay. I don't want to worry about it."

"And if..." he trailed off.

"We'll figure it out," I said absentmindedly.

So much had changed since I had the twins and I knew that financially I could handle almost anything life would throw at me.

"In that case, I can try harder." A wicked grin replaced all concern on his face.

I arched my brow and laughed. Well, that answers that question, I thought. "I'm not saying that we should, I'm just not going to stress about it."

"Whatever you say, Doctor Gilmore. All I'm saying is that we would make some beautiful babies."

"Is that so?" I was already feeling better about the situation.

Peeling my towel away from my chest he said, "Mmmm... Yup." Nuzzling his head into the valley of my breast, I held him to me.

He whispered something against my skin, but I couldn't absorb it before his hot mouth clamped over my nipple.

Fuck being mad at him. This was so much better.

Finally finding some normalcy, the days rolled into a week. Before I realized it was finally time for my trip home to Maryland.

Due to an unexpected schedule change, I picked up work during the time that I should have been on vacation. Thankfully it worked out and I was able to get the time, just a week later.

Wes held me in his arms as we stood outside the airport. It made more sense for him to drop me off. It meant that I didn't have to park my car and spend a small fortune to have it parked in the lot while I was out of town.

"You sure you don't want me to go with you?" He spoke into my hair.

"I'm sure. I think I'm going to tell them about you," as I said it, he tensed. I looked up at him and tried to gauge his reaction.

A slow smile spread, "What are you going to tell them, Sarah?"

"Well, I'll tell them I met someone who I really like. Who makes me happy and treats me well." A sudden shyness washed over me and my cheeks flushed.

"Met someone?" His brow raised.

"Yeah. How would you say it?"

His eyes lowered his gaze, smirked and said, "Rekindled with a long-lost love."

"Love?" I looked at him, trying to hide any and all of the swirling emotions within me.

"No?"

"I mean," I paused and averted my eyes to his chest. "We never put titles on anything."

"Should we?"

"What?!"

"Doctor Sarah Gilmore, will you be my girlfriend?"

My heart hammered in my chest as he lifted my chin to look up at him. The inner schoolgirl within me was elated and bursting with her own impulsive answer.

Wes' gaze held no heat, just a tenderness that I hadn't seen in a while. I swallowed the words that my brain was saying and went with my heart. I needed to keep living for myself instead of constantly reliving the pain of my past.

"Yes." My words came out just above a whisper, but he heard them. Above the hum, buzz, and clatter of the people milling around us, it all was drowned out as his mouth came crashing down on mine.

He added pressure to the hug and held me tightly. "Now I know exactly what you can tell them."

Chewing on my lower lip, I traced my fingers down his cheek to his jaw. "Me too."

"You have made me the happiest man in the world, Sarah. As much as I'd like to stand here and hold you," he kissed my temple, "kiss you," he pecked my cheek, "and..."

I cut him off by dragging his mouth back to mine, pulling a deep moan from his chest. When we parted I said, "I really have to go." Another kiss and he slowly released me.

"Promise you'll call."

"Just once?" I pulled away from him, but he refused to release my hand.

"At least once... a day... maybe once per hour..."

Giggling, I said, "I promise to call you when I have some free time." With a final peck, I grabbed my bags and headed into the airport. At the doors, I turned to see him leaning against his car with a dreamy look in his eye. I blew him a kiss and he caught it.

I'd never been a big fan of flying, usually eliciting my anxiety and causing panic attacks.

This time, when I took my seat, I realized I was finally feeling free and easy. The high I was riding wasn't letting me think of anything but him. In a cloud of bliss, I made it to Maryland.

I'd kept my phone off until I landed, picked up a raunchy romance novel in the gift shop, and read the entire flight.

When I turned on my phone again, I saw several messages waiting. Before I checked them, I called my mom.

"MOM! Where are you? Are you here?" Both Laurel and Cason fought to answer the phone.

"Hey babies! Yeah, just landed. I'm almost to my gate now."

"Ask her if she has any checked bags." I could hear my mom ask in the background.

"Granny wants to know if you have any checked bags." Laurel relayed.

"I don't. I have a small suitcase and my purse."

"I should've known. Your momma don't travel heavy. Tell her we will meet her at the round-about."

"Granny said that we will meet you at the circle thing, the pick-up place." Laurel continued.

"Sounds great. I can't wait to see you. I should be there in about fifteen minutes, give or take a few."

"Okay mom, I love you," Laurel said.

"I love you, also!" Cason shouted.

"Bye babies, I love you." I smiled down at my phone as I ended the call.

As I watched the tarmac move under us, I thought about all the changes that had happened. I hadn't felt this happy in a very long time. It felt like the weight of my world had been lifted and I could finally breathe freely.

When I checked my messages, my phone buzzed with another one.

Wes:
I miss you already.

Wes:
Is it too late to turn around?

Laughing as I grabbed my bags, the last one had me blushing.

Wes:
If we ever find ourselves
on a plane together, mile
high club?

Me:
Consider it a date

I bit down on my lip and made my way through the airport. My phone buzzed. When the buzzing didn't stop, I looked to see who was calling.

Wes...

"Hello?"

"Hey Sweetness. How was your flight?"

"Pretty good."

"Did you get some sleep?"

"Nope. I found a book at one of the little shops. I read it."

"The whole book?"

"Yeah."

"Damn! Must have been a good book. What was it about?"

"You wouldn't like it."

"No?" Wes rumbled.

"I don't think so. It was very," I looked around and lowered my voice, "very erotic."

"I'm into it. I like it. You should read it to me."

Laughing and gathering curious looks, I teased, "Is that right? You don't know what it's about!"

"Well, as long as it is about a sexy doctor and her charming, yet deadly, mercenary."

My snort was as unexpected as his comment. "You are such a goof!"

"You know that you love it!" I could hear his smile through the phone.

"You're not wrong, but this conversation is going to have to continue later. My ride is here."

"Alright, you have an amazing time with your family. I'll talk to you soon."

I said my goodbyes and stuffed my phone into one of the outside pockets of my bag. Taking a few steps into the cool air, I was slammed from both sides as small arms wrapped around me.

"MOM!"

I dropped my bags and wrapped my arms around them. They smelled like fresh laundry. Mom always tried to keep her house clean, and inhaling their scent made me think of the good parts of my childhood.

"My babies," I said into their hair as I peppered their heads with kisses.

They swatted at me and tried to push me away, but it was no use. I wasn't giving in that easily.

My mom beeped the horn and waved from the car a few yards away. With a sigh and a huge grin, I stood up and pulled the kids with me. Cason grabbed my bag as Laurel and I walked hand in hand to the car.

The sun was setting when we got home but Mom had kept dinner warm in the oven. She pulled pasta salad from the fridge and we ate as soon as we got to their house.

"So, what about you? You've heard all about what has been happening in our lives. What's happening in your life?" Mom took another bite of her dinner as she gave me a sly smile.

There were times that I wondered whether or not she was telepathic. "Well," I started, "work has been busy. I went to a benefit dinner for wounded soldiers about a week and a half ago. Got all dressed up and everything."

"Do you have pictures?" Laurel asked.

"I think I can find a picture or two to show you, maybe after dinner." I gave her a wink and hesitantly continued. "I'm also seeing someone." As soon as the words were out, I took a heaping bite of pasta salad to avoid immediately answering the onslaught of questions that started.

"WHAT!?" All three sets of eyes were on me while Laurel and mom dropped their silverware on their plates. Cason's mouth was still full as he looked at me in shock.

"Yeah," I smiled at the memories of how Wes entered my life again. "His name is Wes and we met awhile back. He is friends with Remi and Micah." I glanced at my mom who gave me a brief look of concern before trying to give me a genuine smile.

"Does he treat you good, baby?" Mom asked as she picked up her fork again.

"Like a queen, Momma." I was beaming.

"Does that make me a princess?" Laurel cut in.

"Always baby," I said to her as I tucked a loose strand of her rich brown hair behind her ear. When I looked over at Cason, he had stopped eating and was staring at the table. "Hey babe, what's on your mind?"

"Happy for you mom," he said without looking up.

With a sigh and a concerned glance at my mom, I changed the topic. "I was hoping you guys would be up for going to that amusement park that is outside of Largo."

"The big one?" Mom asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, that's the one. They have a little bit of everything. Water park and rollercoasters," I advertised.

"Can we go tomorrow?" Cason pepped up and sat at the edge of his seat and looked to his Granny.

"I wanna go too, but isn't that a long drive?" Laurel asked as she looked between my mom and me.

"Tomorrow?" I asked my mom.

"Not tomorrow. We have that barbeque over at Dee's house. Y'all were so excited about it when he asked," she said as she delighted.

"Barbeque?" I asked.

"He knows you're in town, baby. He said the more the merrier. Something about having his dad in town and with the nice weather, he wanted to do a get-together with a few friends and family."

"Sounds like fun! I'm excited to meet this man. He seems like a very good neighbor. I should probably also thank him for looking out for you guys."

"Too bad you're no longer single. Though, you could always keep an eye-out for a replacement," she winked.

"Mom!" I scolded in a hush. The kids were already distracted by banter and talk of the food possibilities.

As dinner finished, the kids disappeared and mom and I put together a plan for the amusement park. She voiced her worries about finances, but it was my treat. Something she didn't need to worry about.

When the hours got late, I kissed my mom goodnight and headed up her staircase to say goodnight to the kids.

"Hey baby," she called from the base of the stairs. When I turned, she glanced up the stairs to see if either kid had come out of their room before speaking low. "You sure you want to ride rollercoasters in your condition?"

"Condition?" I shook my head and felt my forehead crease, not understanding what she was saying. "Mom, what are you talking about?"

She tilted her head, cocked an eyebrow. "Seriously? You're telling me you don't know yet?"

I blinked rapidly like something was in my eye before I shook my head again and threw a hand into the air. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

"Tell me," she leaned against the banister, "have you been more emotional lately? A little scatterbrained, maybe? I can tell your nips hurt. You've been smoothing your hand over your right one almost all night."

I looked down at my chest as I was in the process of absently rubbing my right one. It did hurt but I didn't think anything of it. My tits were one of Wes's favorite things to play with. When I thought back to the last time Wes and I had been intimate, it was too quick, he wasn't focused on my tits. The time before that and then again face down in the bed. Nothing. He had neglected to play with my boobs at all.

With a deep breath, I met her tender gaze. There were no words that I could think to say. She had to be wrong.

"No? If you don't think so, I trust it. You just have that look," she trailed off before continuing. "Get some rest. I'm going to clean up and fold the laundry. I love you" She turned and headed back into the kitchen.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and sat down on the step I had stopped on. Wes and I had been careful. There was no way.

Finally getting a grip, I got back to my task. I tucked in Laurel, who had passed out with her music and headphones on. I gently pulled the headphones off her head and paused her music. She was getting so big and while sleeping, she looked older. I was missing time with my kids and it ate at me. I gave her a kiss on her head and moved on to Cason's room.

Cason was reading and gave me a weak smile as we said good night. I took a moment to check out his room. New bookshelf with more books and small Lego creations that I didn't recognize. As I glanced back at him, he had rolled away from me, still reading, I could tell something was bothering him, but I was hoping to talk to him in the morning.

The cozy guest bed should have been all I needed. It was practically my own bed; home away from home, but all I could think about was what my mom had said.

The only thing I could do to put my mind at ease was wait until the morning.
