Gay and... Daddies?

It was the rise of a new day. The sun rising slowly into the sky, the birds chirping noisily from their nest on the trees, school buses horning and parents eagerly trying to get to work. It was a day like any other except for those four men.

Leon stirred on the bed, the feel of the soft comforters was sending him back into his dreams only to hear someone moan behind him. Normally, he would turn to spoon against the body because it would be his wife, but Leon knew deep down his wife was dead. He had accepted it, but never bothered to move on. He never even bothered to satisfy his needs except when it came to works. So who would be sleeping with him?

Opening his eyes, he squinted at the rays of sunshine that poured through the window and immediately knew something was wrong. Turning, he gasped the second he saw the person beside him.

He was fast asleep, his chest rising and falling slowly. His forehead was beaded with sweat and Leon pulled the comforters off him so he could get some air only to see him in his boxers.

Leon was confused. What was a man doing in his bed, barely clothed? He shook him awake, no longer in the mood to answer the questions himself. Leon paused as the man stirred, opening an eyes as he scrunched his face in preparation for a yawn.

Staring at him, Leon wasn't surprised when the man yelped when he saw him and quickly rolled out of bed, falling helplessly on the floor.

Said man bounced back up again, as if he hadn't just hit his head to the floor, and gapped, confused at Leon. He did a once over and his eyes widened when he noticed the both of them had barely any clothes on.

"What-Why... Who are you please?" The man asked, quickly pulling comforters around him and leaving Leon without one on the bed.

Leon couldn't help staring at him. Maybe it was the way he spoke, like an English man or the way the sun reflected on his eyes, showing him those ever greenish eyes with flakes gold he had once seen.

Mesmerized by it, Leon let his curiosity take him closer to the man who rose a brow when he neared him. "Your eyes," he said, cupping the man's face and tilting it towards the light. "It's so beautiful."

The man cleared his throat awkwardly, taking a step back from Leon and giving him a pointed stare. "Thanks for the compliment, but who the fuck are you? I hope we didn't do anythin' because last I remembered, I was straight."

"Uh." Leon pursed his lips and ran a hand through his hair. Exhaling when he finally was able to put his thoughts together, he said, "The name is Leon and like you, I have no idea how I got here."

A look of relief seemed to come on his face and he exhaled, softening his gaze, but still holding the comforters to his body. "I'm Stuart and please tell me what is goin' on?"

Leon was about to tell him he was just as confused when they heard something downstairs. The men stared at each other and Leon knew the same thought crossed their minds.

They nodded and Leon moved out of the room to find what had caused the noise. He found the stairs and went down quietly in case it was a cat burglar. The stairs led to the sitting room and there was a door that probably lead to the dinning and kitchen. He went in in hopes of getting a knife only to see two kids bickering at each other.

"You give it to them. I've got school to go to." The boy said. He looked about fourteen with his figure. He had his black hair gelled and combed back and had his back to Leon so he couldn't see how he looked like.

"But I've got to go over to Mrs. Lynn's house so she can take me to school. You, give dad." The girl whined, pushing a small black package at the boy. She, on the other hand, was younger, probably six or seven.

"How about we do it this way? I get on my bus and you, give dad. If dad sees you are late, he'll take you to school before going to work. Don't you like it when dad takes you to school?" The boy suggested, standing up from his seat on the dinning table and taking his plate and the girl's to the kitchen. That had to be were the other door led to.

Leon's eyes widened when he put two and two together. There was no way these were Stuart's kids, right?

The second the girl stood up from her seat, Stuart ran into the room with a baseball bat making her and Leon turn to him in shock.

Stuart seemed to realize he wasn't under any stress when he saw the little girl but frowned at Leon, "What are they doing here?"

"Wait, they aren't your kids?"

Stuart gave him a look of disgust then glared at the girl that smiled immediately and ran up to them with the package. Leon watched Stuart's face grow with irritation as the kid wrapped her small arms around his waist and said, "Morning daddy."

Stuart's eyes looked seconds away from popping out. "Daddy?"

"Dads?" The boy came out and Leon frowned at the lack of resemblance between anyone of them. Not even their nose or hair colors were the same.

The boy sighed in relief as he came to pick up his bag from the dining table then said as he walked up to them, "You guys are lucky you both didn't wake up later than this. Anyways, a package came for you both this morning." He stopped in front of Leon who gave him a puzzled look and continued, "Mariam, give it to them so I can drop you off at Mrs. Lynn's house."

"Okay." She finally let go of Stuart, who looked like he had frozen up and handed the package to Leon, who felt like he had lost his mind. "Here. Pick me up early so we can go to the park later. Sophia finally wants to be friends with me."

Leon took it from her numbly, not even having the guts to say a word in front of her.

"Okay Mariam, let's go." The boy took her hand and they both waved the dads off before leaving out the door.

Leon ran over to watch them leave just to be sure he wasn't dreaming when he realized he didn't know where the fuck he was. Leon normally lived in an apartment, high up on the 12th floor with a good view of Andreville which was filled with snow but now, he was in a house in an estate with neighbors who weren't just a room away and there wasn't an atom of snow.

A scary chill when up his spine when he saw the kids wave at him. A woman, in joggers and had her blond hair in a ponytail came out from her house which was on the right, beside his and waved at him like they were friends. Leon had never seen that woman in his life before. Why was she waving at him like she knew him?

"Leon," She called to him. There was a short pitch fence that separated her lawn from his garage space. "How are you? You haven't come over for a week now? Stuart is no longer giving you trouble?"

"Stuart?" For a minute there, Leon forgot who that was.

"You know, your husband." She rolled her eyes at him and smiled as she jogged out to his driveway. "Did he piss you off again? Because you only pretend he doesn't exist when he does."

"Huh?" Leon wasn't keeping up.

"How about I come over later? We have much to discuss." She waved at him and started to jog away.

Leon didn't know what the hell was going on? Who the hell was that woman? "Hey!" he called to her. If she was coming over he should at least know her name, "Sorry, I've forgotten your name."

She stopped and gave him a thumb down. "I'm hurt Leon. The name is Bonnie."

"Oh. Okay. I'll see you later."

"You better." She flipped her ponytail over her shoulder before jogging away.

Stepping back into the house, he closed the door and turned to see Stuart running his hands through his hair frantically. When he looked up at Leon, Leon almost thought he was having a mental break down.

"We are married. We have kids. Since everyone seems to see it that way. Is this still 2015 or am I actually losin' my mind?" Stuart gasped, pulling on his hair.

This felt like a weird dream to Leon. This was the first time he didn't know what to do. How did he even get here?

"What's in the package?" Stuart asked, sitting on his hands to stop himself for pulling on his hair again.

"I don't..." He didn't finished. He just shook his head, entered the dining then went into the kitchen to get a knife.

Coming out, he saw Stuart had already ripped the packet off and was staring at a box. "Leon," Stuart said then looked up at him.

The scientist dropped the knife down before coming to stand beside his supposed to be husband and Stuart continued, "It's addressed to us."

"With our real names." Leon breathed, happy to see they hadn't changed to one weird name. Not that Stuart's name was weird.

To: Leon Holmes & Stuart Jacobi.

Quickly, he took the cover off just to see two envelopes, a bottle of honey, a car key and another bunch of keys.

"Shouldn't we like, call the cops first or somethin'?" Stuart asked as Leon picked up an envelope.

It had the name The Gay Project boldly written on it and that made him frown. There wasn't any stamps and that just made him frown deeper.

"Wait. If it's a threat or anything weird, we'll call the cops."

"Like anythin' could be weirder than this." Stuart huffed, his words thick with accent.

Shrugging, Leon opened the envelope and Stuart peered in to read it with him.

Dear Experiments,

I am sorry to announce to you both that you have been chosen to be experiments which allows us to prove to people that daddies can be just as good as straight parents. Or maybe better. So you are not lonely, there is another couple who are in this same situation. I will tell you where to find them but that would be at the end of this letter.

You both might be here for a month. Maybe two. Depending on how well you can act as daddies. You definitely don't know who everyone here is but you will in time. Because they know you.

You see, this is a small community. A small town. Blend with the crowd. Sure being gay stands out but try your best to blend in with the community. A couple already know who you are so it shouldn't be hard.

In the other envelope, you will find your jobs. What you do in this town. Who you are to those people out there. Your kids and your close friends.

The faster you are to blend in and be daddies the better your chances of leaving. I will give no rules but if you happen to do something that you shouldn't do like cheating on your husband or trying to run away, it would increase your time here and your subordinate other will be informed.

Task will be given as we please and your reward would be money seeing as your bank accounts are empty (we made new ones). Don't do something stupid. Your first task is in the other envelope and the other couple will be found at 5112 Tunny St, Tim Horton, and 5th booth. They should be there by 1:00pm.

The Gay Project.
Admin.

Leon read the letter over and over again. He couldn't believe it. Did they just bring him here to be gay and a dad?
