Chapter 4

Izuku was ready for the entrance exams and had just stepped out when he felt a presence behind him.

Grinning, he went in for a punch only for it to be dodged and the next moment Izuku was grabbed by his neck.

"Nice of you to notice my presence, but you're a hundred years too early to land a hit on me," said Steve with a grin as he let go and Izuku smirked.

"Are you sure about that?" he asked.

"Yep. Anyways, listen kid, I'm going for a while, but just know that I'm proud of you," said Steve as he patted his shoulder.

"Right, thanks, nii san," Izuku said with a bright smile.

In the past 10 months, Izuku and Steve had developed a sibling-like relationship, and as someone who didn't have much appreciation in his life apart from his mother, he was really grateful.

"So... where to next?" asked Izuku, a little sad that Steve was once again leaving.

"Well, South America. Strange activity in the Amazon Rainforest. But don't worry, if you ever need me, just stab this into the ground," said Steve as he handed Izuku a Kunai.

"What's this?"

"Well, it's a surprise. But please, only use this in an emergency, alright?" asked Steve, and Izuku nodded.

"Now go and annihilate the test. Not slay, ANNIHILATE!"

"You and your destructive tendencies," said Izuku while rolling his eyes.

Steve stuck his tongue out at him and then started to walk away.

"Not that you need it, but best of luck Lil bro," Steve said without turning as Izuku smiled widely.

Izuku was now in front of the entrance of UA as he looked nervously.

"Oi nerd," came a voice, and as he turned he saw Bakugo walking towards him.

"O-Oh Kacchan," Izuku stuttered. Since the day of the sludge incident, Bakugo hadn't done anything to Izuku, which surely surprised him but also confused him.

"Move out of my way damn nerd."

As he walked past him, he only said one sentence.

"Don't you dare fucking fail."

Now Izuku was beyond confused. Why did Bakugo threaten him to pass? 10 months ago, it was to not even participate.

Before Izuku could muse about it, however, he tripped... on his own legs.

'Wow, even after all that training I manage to fuck up while walking. Well... I'll just die.'

However, he never made contact with the ground. When he opened his eyes, he found himself staring in warm, auburn eyes.

"Sorry for using my quirk on you, but it wouldn't be really good if you fell before the test, would it?" the girl in front of him said as Izuku stood on his feet.

"Right, it w-wouldn't be. T-thanks f-for helping me," Izuku stuttered as the girl giggled.

"Are you nervous about the test? I am too," she said cutely tilting her head.

"Y-yeah, I-I'm not really nervous for the test, it's just pretty girls t-that make me nervous," Izuku said shyly as Ochako blushed brightly.

"RIGHT! T-thanks for the co-compliment!"

"Y-you're welcome," Izuku said while scratching the back of his neck nervously.

"Let's do our best," the girl said as she walked inside with a big smile and a big blush adorning her face.

"Looks like someone's in love," came a voice as a hand rested on his shoulder. Izuku turned to see familiar Blonde hair with a black Thunderbolt.

"Oh, hey Kami," Izuku greeted with a smile.

"Sup Mido," said Denki Kaminari as they both started to walk inside.

"Oh, and thanks for your help. It really helped using my separate body parts to channel electricity instead of just releasing it. I'm like a human stun gun now," Kaminari said as they entered the exam hall.

"Right. Alright, I'll get to my seat. All the best for the paper, hope you get in," said Izuku as Kaminari smiled.

"Well, I hope too, but it's going to be difficult."

---Flashback---

Izuku was on his way to Dagobah beach when he saw a person crying by the shore a little away from the beach. He was really subtle, but Izuku being someone who used to do that, figured it out and started walking towards the person.

"H-hey, are you alright?" asked Izuku as he approached the person.

The person got startled as he wiped his tears and gave him a smile as if he was the happiest guy in the world.

"Yeah, I'm perfectly fine, don't worry," he said as if he wasn't the person crying just moments ago.

Izuku knew that smile, that exact line, since that's what he had told his mother over and over again.

"Hey, I know you aren't and it's okay, if you want you can talk to me, I'll listen," Izuku said as he sat beside him looking over the ocean himself.

They both sat there in silence, neither saying anything, as Kaminari's fake expression disappeared and he sighed.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think you'd like to listen to my problems, they are trivial and unimportant," Kaminari said. That was one thing he used to tell himself. His problems weren't that big and they were not even proper problems. Many others were suffering and had problems far bigger than his, and he didn't deserve to complain or be sad about them.

"You can't really compare problems. By the way, I'm Izuku Midoriya," Izuku said as the person looked at him and muttered, "I'm Denki Kaminari."

"So... if you want to, can you tell me what's bugging you?" asked Izuku as he continued to look at the shore with the sun rising.

Kaminari didn't know what to do. This guy was around his age, but Kaminari could feel that this guy was something different, something out of this world.

"I... I've been made fun of for having a weak quirk," said Kaminari with a sigh.

"Oh..."

"And I've got Dyslexia and ADHD due to which I'm unable to properly study," Kaminari added.

"But there are therapies available for both, did you try those?" asked Izuku. This was bad, his condition was bad.

"Well... my mom said that she didn't want to waste money on a weak mistake like me," Kaminari replied with a hollow chuckle. By now, Izuku's throat was dry as he remembered what all he went through.

"W-what about your dad?" asked Izuku, almost scared of the answer.

"Well, he did care about me, but he isn't alive anymore."

By now Izuku went from concerned to outright scared for Kaminari. All this, and he said this was nothing? His time with Steve included studying for his analysis, and that included mental too. So he studied a lot of Psychology in the past few months, and this was clear trauma.

"Kaminari kun, this is in no way small. None of what you said is true, you're pretty strong from what I can figure by looking at you. And believe me, when I say there is no weak quirk, it's all about how to use it. If you could tell me, maybe I could help you. And I'll help you study too, though I don't know how effective it would be."

---End---

From that day both had gained a new friend, and Izuku did his best to help Kaminari. However it was difficult since his mom along with his aunt were very stingy about the money, and Izuku wasn't that well. He wanted to tell All Might and Nightwatch, and he did, but Kaminari had pleaded him not to get any hero involved.

Reason? His sister. While she was 19, and had been a sidekick for about a year, her mother still had control over her life with their aunt, and she also had to stay because she didn't want to leave her brother with them alone. However, if she said or did anything, they'd take out the anger on Denki, and she loved her brother dearly. Though the authorities wouldn't think like that. For them, if you didn't say anything you're guilty.

The only way out was something Kaminari wanted to happen anyway. Getting into UA. That would open up his world to paid internships, and other stuff, along with the in-house Psychology department, which was headed by Hound Dog, who was considered one of the best therapists in the world along with a strong hero.

So this exam was supremely important for both.
