Chapter 13

Cassius loomed over Felix; his presence cast an aura of death on Felix. His wine-red eyes sparkled with malevolent intensity as he gazed at those golden eyes he had seen long ago. Felix stared back at those eyes that flashed like crimson lightning. Noah's eyes fixated on them like a radar on its target. "Are you uncomfortable, Felix?" Cassius uttered with a scornful smirk. Then, slowly approached Noah, only to be blocked by Felix's protective stance. Cassius smiled with a sarcastic gleam, beholding Felix.

"No worries, I'm not going to do anything to him. You know it too, right? That I won't do anything to him." He spoke to Felix, scanning Noah. Felix hesitated, then nodded his agreement.

"It has been a while, Noah!" Cassius voiced joyfully, looking at Noah with his ruby red eyes. Noah was dumbfounded by the dramatic turn. Felix stared at Noah with a disapproving glance as if he didn't want Noah to talk to Cassius. But Noah wanted to argue against Felix's condemning eyes. Noah, peering at Cassius, stated with a grave expression, "You must be the demon monarch, right?"

Both Felix and Cassius flabbergasted by Noah's words. Felix was utterly shocked to hear Noah. He was perplexed of how he knew about the 'demon monarch'. It wasn't like demons and dragons were rare, it's just, how did Noah discover it? Talking about demons were a taboo in holy realm, so there is no way he would hear about it from someone unless, he read about it. But Felix was sure, Noah hadn't gotten any formal education, and even the word 'Demon Monarch' was known to a few chosen people and was a classified information only find in the royal libraries. Noah didn't look like a boy who was mentally traumatized but someone who had infinite wisdom, his gaze was solid and he showed no fear looking  Cassius nor Felix, straight to their eyes. So how did Noah aware of this? Felix wondered.

Cassius seemed to amuse over Felix's thunderstruck face, "Yes. I didn't know I was famous even among children," Cassius looked at Felix with a snicker and voiced.

"It seems that 'thing' I had gave you then was indeed helpful to you." Cassius spoke with a condescending smirk, staring at Felix.

"Well, let's get to the point, why are you here?" He asked Noah without giving Felix a chance to explain, with an intense gaze. His rage, blazed in his eyes, even though he tried to hide it.

"That's enough, Cassius Nightshade." Felix exclaimed, his tone commanding silence. "You should keep an eye on him if you don't want to lose him." Cassius remarked in a mocking tone. His eyes, stamped on Noah again, uttered, "we shall meet again."

With a genuine smile in his lips, he vanished into thin air, leaving more questions than answers. As Cassius disappeared, Noah's voice pierced Felix, "Why are you both following me?"

Honestly, Felix had planned to show up in front of Noah later, but Noah ruined his plans by entering the 'devouring void', the cave which was a portal to the demon world. Abruptly, his thoughts were consumed by a piercing pain in his chest. Felix coughed, vermilion blood splashed on the ground.

By that time, the obsidian brand on his chest reached up to his throat. His veins bulged with pain, he frowned and casted a spell directed at the burning crimson gem on his robe that hinted at archaic magic. The stone illuminated intensely, as the spell casted, the brand forced to confine itself on Felix's chest. Felix gazed at Noah, his golden eyes shifted into glorious red as he looking at him, he approached Noah casted a spell, disappeared with Noah, even before Noah could react to his casting, leaving behind only a whisper of their presence as the void took over the cave once again.
