Chapter 7

“Hey, aren’t you going home for Christmas?” I asked Victor and he shifted his feet awkwardly. We’ve been friends for six months already but sometimes, he is still shy. I laughed at his cute blushing face but he glared at me instantly.

“I-I…” He gulped and he averted his blue eyes from me. “I decided to stay instead.”

I was taken aback and I couldn’t form a sentence.

“You said you were staying, right?” He turned a deeper shade of red. “Victor wants to spend Christmas with you.”

My heart fluttered inside my ribcage and I resisted the urge to scream happily. I bit my lower lip as I felt my face turned hot.

“You could go laugh at me…” He said faintly.

I grab his sleeves and I engulfed him in a bear hug. “I’m really happy!” I squealed.

He chuckles for a second before returning my hug. “Really?”

“This is my first time!” I told him as I pulled myself from him. “This is the first time I am not going to be alone during Christmas.”

He cupped my cheeks and what he did next really shocked me.

[I was delighted… I could say that I had fallen in love with him.]

The feeling of his lips brushing against my forehead made my stomach do a back flip. He pulls away and when our eyes met, I could see him mirroring my expression. The expression of someone who just felt extreme happiness.

“Expect this for the next Christmas that you will never be alone again,” He said to me. “I promise you that.”

[… He is such a liar… why would he promise something that he could not fulfill?]

“We will stay together, forever.” He added while pinching my nose.

[Who would have thought forever could be never…]

-Christmas Night-

“Merry Christmas, Isaiah!” I woke up from my slumber under my usual tree. I watch Victor shines as he emitted the light coming from the beautiful moon above us.

“Me-merry Christmas.” I muttered still half sleepy.

“Geez, you went earlier here, dude.” He pouted. “You said we will meet at the gate.”

“Sorry,” I apologized. “I went here earlier for a purpose.”

I grabbed something from my cloak pocket inside and I reached him a well wrapped gift. “For you…” I said shyly while gazing down at my feet.

He gently took it from me and my now empty hand was replaced by something similar to the small box.

“Y-you also got me a gift?” I stuttered.

“Of course, Sai!” He yelled happily at me. We sat under the tree and we gaze at the beautiful stars above us.

The only sound I could hear as of the moment is the tearing of paper. I watch him from the corner of my eyes and I couldn’t help but smile when I saw the reaction painted on his face.

“You got me a really cool dog tag!” He exclaimed as he rose on his feet. He took my hand and he forcedly made me stand up. “Thank you!”

“No problem.” I replied back and watch as he wears it. My gaze lowered down on the present that sits on my hand and I carefully tore the wrapper.

My eyes stung as I resisted the urge to cry. There, sat inside the small box, a chain that says ‘You’re My Hero’. I faced him and I pressed our foreheads together.

“Thank you very much.” I told him and our eyes met. Green and blue collided and all I could think at the moment is that everything is perfect.

I couldn’t ask for more.
