Chapter 4. Overcoming it

Iwaizumi understood what Oikawa had meant, once he started walking home. He understood where his fear was coming from, although he found his friends actions to be childish. He was hurting (Y/n) without knowing it and to Iwaizumi it would have made a lot more sense, if Oikawa would just open up to her.
He wasn't jealous, so hurting her in anyway possible would surely not accure, of that the ace was sure.
'You should overcome your stupid fear.', was what Iwaizumi had told him, before walking away that day, leaving a stunned Oikawa behind.
It was as if he had knocked some sense into the setter, as if he had finally opened his eyes.
The handsome male had already known that he would surely not hurt the beauty, yet the thought or the possibility of it happening, made him insecure.
But maybe now, now that Iwaizumi had told him to overcome his fear, now that someone else, other than Oikawa himself, had made it clear that his trepidation was misguided and foolish, he could finally forget about it.
Finally give in to the bond that was always pulling him towards Seijoh's splendor (L/n) (Y/n).

"It's either going to get better now or it's going to be the worst.", was all Iwaizumi told (Y/n) the next day at school, regarding their topic was the attractive setter. The girl was sure something changed, when Oikawa had smiled at her that morning.
His glorious smile sent her mind places, but she was unsure as to why he would suddenly smile at her.
She, also, had to overcome her fear, her fear of letting her heart get broken by a fake facade. She never imagined to open up to Oikawa, she was in no favor of meeting someone fake, she did not want get hurt by someone like him. It did take her a long time, but she gave in eventually, the setters charm was just, too, enorm.
And maybe something would change now.

"Don't practice too late!", exclaimed Suki, considering their hardworking captain, (Y/n), was still practicing. They smilingly waved at each other, before Suki left the female volleyball gym, letting the other girl practice.

"Oi Shittykawa, don't practice too late and don't overdo it, 'cause I'll hit you if you hurt yourself!", Iwaizumis voice rung through the male gym. He earned a nod from the concentrated setter, getting ready to serve again. The boy run a hand through his short dark hair, a sigh leaving his lips as he began walking home.
The girl wasn't sure of how long she had practiced, infact hours had passed and the sky was painted in a dark navy blue, many stars being the only light source and making her realize that it was time for her to go home, as it would surely be past midnight.
She packed up her things, closing and locking the gym doors. She noticed that the lights in the male gym were still turned on, figuring that someone had forgotten to switch them off, she made her way towards it.
Only hearing the loud, exhausting breaths when she arrived at the door. It's late, they should go home. Were her thoughts as she opened the heavy doors. Her eyes landed on a tired, worn-out Oikawa. Even when he was covered in sweat, breathing heavily, even when he wasn't supposed to look attractive or appealing, he still looked as desirably perfect, as magnetically handsome as anyone could be.
She was left speechless, watching him serve, his King like presence leaving her stunned. He hadn't noticed her, being, too, focused on his serves and receives. It was as if he was in a trance, nothing being as important as volleyball at that moment.

"Oikawa-san.", her melodic voice brought him back to reality, making him loose his concentration and fall down. "Shit, sorry! Are you okay?", she run towards him, feeling guilty about disturbing him.

"I'm alright!", he smiled at her, his generous smile taking her a back. "What are you still doing here, (Y/n)-chan? It's late!", he shining hazel eyes met her shimmering (e/c) ones.

"I was practicing and now I was going home. I just thought that someone had left the lights turned on, but I heard you and I thought that you would need some rest, too?!", she answered, while the other one nodded.

"I'll just change my clothes real quick. You wait for me. I can't let a beautiful lady walk home alone.", he got up. "So don't go anywhere, (Y/n)-chan!", he whispered in her ear, his murmur making a pleasant shiver run down her spine. Oikawa sure knew how to make a girl obey and so she waited for him. "Let's go!"

"Yes!", she smiled at him, leaving the gym and walking beside the male, who had insisted on walking her home. The cold night breeze interrupted their peaceful silence, as the girl started shivering. Oikawa had, of course, noticed and lost no time, putting his strong, muscular arm around her petit shoulders, softly pulling her closer.

"To keep you warm and to protect you from the nasty looks!", was his excuse. (Y/n) felt blood rush to her face, the handsome captain was, once more, her savior. Oikawa took notice of her features, a victorious grin plastered on his smooth lips.

"So, Oikawa-san, tell me something about yourself.", and so they started talking about every topic imaginable, from the aliens the male setter was so passionate about, to his nephew, which aroused the girls interest, considering that she found children to be cute and adorable.

"Awwww, he sounds adorable!", she exclaimed happily, having a picture of a mini Oikawa in mind. Her enthusiasm about his favorite little nephew, made the handsome's heart skip a beat.

"He is! I'm teaching him some serves and tosses, too!", he told her, her face lifting up with happiness.

"Really!? He must be really good then!", both smiled at each other, one smile being more contagious and attractive as the other one. "Oikawa-san, what do you love the most about being a setter?", her next question took him off guard.

"You know, the setter is a critical position in volleyball. We touch the ball more often than any other position and a lot of people think that it's the most important role, but I don't necessarily think that's true. We decide which player should get the ball or when, but we need to stay relaxed and confident. We need to be willing to take the blame for possible mishaps.", there he was going on and on about all the things he loved about his position, feeling as proud as he could.
And once the beauty agreed and confessed what she loved the most, his face lit up, nodding at everything she was saying. Volleyball was what both loved, what both adored. Their dedication to the sport was clear as they spoke about it so highly and enthusiastically, their voices thrilled and excited.
It was once they were talking about their fervently, to them being magnificent, passion, that both noticed how similar they were.
And they swore that the moment they started talking about the sport they adored, sparks were flying all around them.
Whenever their eyes met, the same spark would appear, making both hearts beat faster.

But the Grand King would not fall for her that easily.
