The colour seems to drain from Harry's face at the newly found information, his brain still trying to take it all in. Seliva's words echo through his mind over and over again, making him want to scream and shout but for some reason unknown to him, he finds it hard to even open his mouth.
Harry expects his eyes to water, for his body to shake, for his mouth to release involuntary sobs but nothing like that happens. It's like his body has become immune to this type of mental trauma. It's just his heart that seems to ache and cry now and Harry realizes that it's the hardest possible way of grieving, when you want to let it all out but you can not.
With whatever little strength he has got left, Harry stands up from his place , his gaze leaves Selvia's now tear stained face and instead he looks at the wall in front of him. Closing his eyes momentarily, Harry let's out a shaky breath from his mouth and shakes his head.
"Harry." He hears Selvia whisper, too tired to pay attention.
All of the sudden, his eyes and body has become heavy and he's finding it hard to even keep his head straight. All he wants now is to sleep, for eternity if possible.
He takes a few uncertain steps before his hands fly up to grab his head and and an ear piercing scream laced with nothing but pain leaves his mouth. His body starts to tremble and before he knows it, his knees hit the wooden floor with a loud thump.
Harry's stomach churns and he presses his mouth in a thin line to prevent himself from vomiting, bile however rises in his throat and very soon he's emptying his stomach contents, his throat burning with unpleasant feeling.
He feels a hand on his back, slowly moving up and down, there's a voice that is calling out for him but it's far far away.
Bringing up his shaking arm, Harry roughly wipes his mouth before slowly looking up at the person trying to soothe him.
The face he sees however, is the one he expected to see the least. He stares at her face for a couple of seconds before clamping his eyes shut in an attempt to erase her face from his memory.
"Are you alright, Harry?" He hears a voice and his eyes flutter open, expecting to see Selvia's face but instead it's Stella's again and it causes him to cower back from her touch.
Selvia stares at Harry with eyes wide and mouth parted in surprise, she eyes him as he continues to scoot away from her, shaking his head vigorously while his gaze remains fixed on her face.
"No, go away." Harry says lowly, gulping the lump in his throat and blinking rapidly to prevent the tears to form. He's too tired of being told that Stella is dead and then seeing her, in a dream or as a hallucination. He decides that he's too weak to bear this pain and distress.
Selvia stands up on her feet and cautiously takes a step forward but pauses immediately when Harry pushes himself away, "Don't come near me." His voice is rough and weak, his words coming out more like a plea.
Niall is there in an instant and without wasting another minute, he calls for a doctor, realizing that Harry's suffering from nervous break down.
No one says anything when Harry just lies there on the floor, his whole body trembling as he clamps his eyes shut to calm himself, not really understanding what's happening to him.
Memories flood his mind, happy and sad all at once and Harry can't help but sob helplessly, so desperately wanting it all to go away. And not so later it does slowly starts to go away and instead he's surrounded by the peaceful darkness.
Harry starts to gain consciousness after an entire day and the first thing he hears is mumbling, like two people are conversing somewhere. He tries to make out their words but it's hard to do so, all he guesses is that one of the two people is a man and the other one is a woman.
"You finally found time to see how your brother is doing, I see." Selvia states harshly, looking Josh a displeased look. She's been calling him for a few days now and never once did he answer the call, not even after she messaged him to tell him about Harry's condition.
"I told you, I wasn't in the city for God's sake." Josh tries to excuse himself by making lies, the only reason behind his disappearance was to make sure that Laura didn't do anything stupid, like reporting him to police for kidna and rape.
To his joy however, she did no such thing. According to his inner sources he got to know that Laura has claimed that she was kidnapped but she knows nothing about what her kidnapper looked like or where he lived. She told them that she was drugged one night and then the next time she woke up she was lying in an alleyway.
"Look Selvia," He starts, raising a hand in the air dramatically and sighing, "let me see him once and then if you want, I'm out of here."
Selvia crosses her arms over her chest and looks him up and down with narrowed eyes before stepping away from the door she's been blocking from Josh.
Before Josh could step inside, Selvia grabs her arm, making him look back at her with one of the eye brow raised.
"Don't do or say anything stupid, he's not in good condition." She whispers harshly to get her point across and let's go of his arm as soon as he nods his head in understanding.
The door closes with a small click and Josh is in the room all alone with the boy people like to think is his fucking brother. His eyes flicker towards the bed he's lying on and he takes long step until he's standing right next to him.
He bites his lip to stop the smile to spread on his face as he takes Harry's figure in. The way his skin is so pale and the dark bags under his eyes, he looks like someone whose haunted by the ghosts. He notices how weak he has become and sighs loudly, kneeling down next to his face on the floor.
"Oh baby brother," He whispers, a small smile playing on his lips as he brings his hand up to pet Harry's head over and over again.
"Look at you, look how weak you are, how bad you're hurt." He continues, his hand now moving away from Harry's hair and looming over the cold skin of his forehead. "It's all because of father, it never would've happened if he had treated us like equals."
His face becomes hard at the thought of his father, his fists clench on their own and he feels his heart beating a little faster, he hates him, more than anything else in the whole wide world. For him, he is nothing but a monster, a monster who took away his childhood.
"I used to love you, you know? You were so cute when you were born, I liked how your eyes were green just like mine." His sight becomes unfocused when he remembers the the first time he had seen him. Though his mother kept Josh as far away from her baby, Josh was excited to see what his little brother looked like.
"I adored you so much, I did. I loved to play with you every chance I got. Your fucking mother didn't allow you near me though, only when dad was home, she disliked me, I don't know why Harry." Josh explains with a frown, looking down at the carpeted floor and sighing at the sad memories. "Do you know why, Harry? I.. I was a child just like you."
Josh looks up at Harry but doesn't wait for a response, assuming that he's in a deep slumber and his whispering will not do any good to wake him up.
"I didn't have a mother and then you took away my father as well." He whispers harshly, suddenly feeling the urge to kill Harry for ruining his life, for taking away the only person he had ever loved.
"I didn't hurt you on purpose that day, it was all an accident but dad still slapped me." Josh's voice breaks as he remembers the first time his father had laid his hand on him.
His hand involuntarily reaches up to his left cheek and he closes his eyes, remembering the stinging pain and the heart break that had come with it.
"Oh my God, look at what your son has done, Des. Look at him." The woman exclaims loudly, looking at Harry's bleeding nose as the four years old continues to cry in his mother's arms.
Her gaze travels from Harry towards Josh, whose standing there with hands covering his mouth and tears staining his cheeks and immediately her soft gaze becomes hard.
"It's not the first time he's tried to hurt my son, he wants to kill him." The woman announces and a small sob escapes Josh's mouth.
He looks up at his father, desperate to see sympathy and love for himself but to his disappointed, his father is glaring at him, the anger written all over his face.
"Dad, I didn't do it on purpose." Josh says in a small voice, hicupping, his eyes travelling from his father to Harry whose safe in the embrace of his mother and at that moment Josh wants nothing more than his mother to hug him, to kiss his forehead and protect him from the angry eyes on him.
"Des, what are you standing there for? Ask him why he hit Harry." The woman shouts at his husband who glances at her momentarily before looking back at his son.
"Josh, go to your room." Des orders with such authority that it causes a shiver to run down the boy's spine.
"D- Daddy, I didn't.." Josh is cut off mid sentence when his father's voice booms in the room again.
"Now." He barks at him, pointing a finger towards him and threatening him to disobey.
Josh immediately lowers his gaze in defeat and fear and nods his head but instead of going out of the room he approaches Harry whose now sniffling quietly in the crook of his mother's neck.
"I'm.. I'm sorry, Haz." He tells his little brother and reaches forward to kiss his head but before he could do so, a hand roughly grabs his forearm and he's forced to turn around to swiftly that his head spins.
Before Josh can realize what's happening he finds himself lying on the floor and his cheek stinging so bad that he feels like someone has burned him. With tears falling from his eyes, Josh looks up to see his father standing above him with fists clenched and nostrils flaring.
"Get the hell out of here." Des says loudly and this time Josh doesn't dare disobey.
As quickly as possible, he get back on his feet, stumbling a bit as he steps away from his father, not really believing that his father has slapped you for no reason. With blurry vision the boy runs out of the room, never once looking back at his father or his baby brother.
Josh's eyes become teary and he inhale deeply, trying to get rid of the memories that have haunted him for decades.
"It's alright though, Harry. Look at you," He chuckles, wiping his nose as he looks at him, "And look at me. I'm so close to get what I really deserve now. I'm a fucking master mind." He exclaims proudly though, smiling widely to himself but inside his heart is still the one that was broken by his own father at such a fragile age.
A loud knock on the door break his train of thoughts and Josh clears his throat before standing up on his feet and wiping away any traces of tears with the palm of his hand.
"Josh, lunch is ready." Selvia tell him, poking her head inside the room and smiles lightly when Josh nods.
"Take care, brother." The words come out bitter and lack any sort of emotion. He looks over Harry's barely conscious body for a few seconds before smirking. Putting his hands into the pockets of the pants, Josh walks out of the door, shutting the door after him.
A small click is an enough single for Harry to know that he's alone in the room and slowly his eyes flutter open. His mouth parts and his vision becomes blurry as he repeats Josh's words over and over again in his head.
He finds it impossible to believe that the man he loved more than his father, the man he trusted more than anyone else in the world, is the one to ruin his life. His own brother snatched the happiness away from him.
He prays to God for it all to be a dream but deep inside he knows that it is the truth.
All the things that Laura had told him that day out of anger finally seems to make sense to him and he can't help the guilt that starts bubbling in the pit of his stomach, remembering how he had kicked the girl out of his own.
