The night rolled by and Tuesday morning had come its way. Like every other normal day, I entered school yawning and wishing for a couple extra hours of sleep that I wouldn't be able to get. Although, something was a little off routine. I noticed Junwook walking down the hall, turning to the sound of the school's side door opening. His expressionless face turned up a little as he smiled warmly.
"Jaehwa," he greeted with a small nod while stopping to let me catch up. I quickened my pace towards Junwook.
He stayed walking with me all the way to my locker. "How's it going?" I asked.
"Alright. Just another day of school." He ended with a slight shrug.
Giving a huff, I slid off my backpack and muttered, "Tell me about it."
Fast moving footsteps came trudging down the hall. Both our heads snapped towards the direction to see Hanji jogging towards us.
"Yo, Jaehwa!" she called, a little louder than needed. "I just wanted to stop by and say hi." She gave a light chuckle before giving Junwook a once-over. "Wait, you're that new kid. Junwook? The edgy dude?"
"Edgy?" Junwook repeated, cocking his head to the side.
"Yeah," Hanji nodded, "with your hair that hangs over your eyes and dark clothes. Plus you don't really talk to anyone, well, except for Jaehwa, it seems. You guys aren't... together are you?"
I glanced at Junwook before quickly shaking my head. "No, no, no. We really only just introduced ourselves yesterday on the bus."
Hanji gave an understanding expression accompanied by nodding. "Anyway, you should probably get the stuff you need for your first class out of your locker." She extended an arm towards the locker door, prompting me to continue with my morning routine.
As I pulled the door open, a couple pieces of something wrapped in golden metallic foil fell to the ground. Further inspection proved these pieces to be Reese's cups, and a whole pile of them sat on the top shelf of my locker. My mouth couldn't help but hang open in surprise.
"Dang, that's a lot of Reese's," Hanji awed. "Hey, Jaehwa, didn't you tell me that they're your favorite candies?"
A sudden suspicion began to rise in my gut after finding a sticky note that was placed just on top of the pile, signed by none other than Jeong Sagang...
I hope this was a sweet surprise. Have a nice Tuesday!

"This kid," I said under my breath, slowly shaking my head.
A low whistle was heard behind me from Junwook. His hand reached passed me and picked up a few of the Reese's. "Someone has an admirer."
"Yeah, who was it from?" Hanji asked, terrible at hiding the fact that she knew. Sagang is her younger brother.
The bell rang overhead, blaring three times from the speakers that told us we had ten minutes before class started. I carefully folded the note and slipped it into my bag, along with a handful of Reese's just in case I get a little hungry during my first classes. Hanji waved her goodbye before heading off to her class.
I turned to Junwook, expecting him to be headed off to his as well, but he just stood there and gave me a smile.
"What?" I asked, looping my arms back through the straps of my backpack. "Don't you have to go to your first class?"
"You have history first period, right?" I noticed the slight tilt of Junwook's head, causing his bangs to brush over his eyes. "I just noticed you walking into it yesterday. I have chemistry, just across the hall. I'll walk you that way."
Without needing to think it over, I agreed. "Alright, we should start heading that way."
Junwook's expression seemed to lighten. His smile brightened up his aura, which seemed dark and sort of emo if you didn't talk to him. I just wonder why I've never seen him hanging out with anyone.
"Would you mind if I sat with you at lunch?" Junwook asked, almost shyly. "I don't really want to stay in the library the whole time again, studying. I don't really have any friends here."
"Of course. We can be friends." I cracked a grin while nudging his arm.
A soft, breathy laugh left him. "Thanks a lot, I appreciate it."
Since lunch depended on your fifth period, Junwook and I already knew that we had the same. Our table included Mina, Yooni, Niku, and Jongmin. I'm sure Junwook would fit into our table just fine. Niku is pretty open to new people, even if he has the slight tendency to scare them off with his big words and competitive nature. Although, he can really get along if necessary. Jongmin and Mina are both studious and intelligent, sweet people. Yooni is easy-going with a good sense of humor.
On our way, I happened to spot a certain person in the freshman hallway. Now would be a good time to thank him.
"Sagang!" I called out in a friendly way to my new friend.
He turned his head, excitedly. "Hey, Jaehwa," Sagang greeted with a positive vibe. His gaze traveled to Junwook. "Didn't you come here right after winter break? I think you're in my art class."
Junwook gave a short nod. "I'm Junwook."
"Nice to meet you." Sagang directed his attention back to me. "How's you're morning? Did you eat?"
"It's been fine so far. I wanted to thank you for the surprise. Also, I noticed the video you posted last night. I didn't know you were close to some of the people in it."
Sagang's expression lit up. "Yeah, we're in a band. We call ourselves The EastLight. You probably noticed my comment about us still in need of a proper guitarist. We've made a couple songs without one, but it could really use a guitar."
"I wish I could help, but I don't have much talent," I admitted with a laugh.
"I can play guitar," Junwook put in. "I've been playing for a while and can pick up on songs fairly quickly. If you wanted I could help."
"Really?" Sagang gave a sigh of relief. "That would be amazing. Are you free after school? I'll give you my number and location to where we practice."
Junwook answered with a nod. Sagang quickly wrote down information on an easy-accessible sticky note—similar to the kind he used to put a note in my locker—and handed it over.
"I bet you guys sound really amazing," I commented. "I would love to hear you play sometime."
"Why don't you stop by tomorrow?" Sagang suggested with a small smile hinting on his lips. "I'm sure we can get Junwook prepared with a couple songs by the end of practice tonight."
"Could I bring a couple friends with me?"
"Yeah, that's no problem." Sagang began to back up from our small circle of conversation. "I'll see you around. Better catch my class!"
