The Birth of an Outer God

The Dread Overlord awoke to the drone of a priest speaking. It was annoying, and The Dread Overlord's displeasure at the noise was made clear by the shaking of the... structure. All of the crimson robed men and women immediately bowed to the throne that seemed to hold The Dread Overlord's consciousness. His mind seemed shattered. He tried to look at the pieces, to no avail. One of the robed humans was talking, so The Dread Overlord listened in to him. Some aggrandizement of sorts, for The Dread Overlord. He was pleased by this, but was once again put in a bad mood for he could not move or speak. He finally actually gave the cultist his full attention.

The Dread Overlord tried something, and the human reacted.

"Yes Lord I can hear you!" The human called.

I was surprised, I could speak directly into the human's mind. That would make this easier.

"What is it you seek, human?" I asked.

"To save our race from itself!" The cultist announced.

Interesting, so he wished to save humanity, by enslaving it to an entity that was evil incarnate.

"Do you know what I am?" I asked.

"You are the savior promised in the Old Tomes." The human said, dead serious.

"I know not of what these Old Tomes are, but I am called The Dread Overlord. I am no savior, and I wish to dominate humanity under my boot. Your savior is a false one. However, after my most recent failure, it would seem that a change in tactics is necessary. Perhaps I will be the savior you so desire, mortal. Serve me faithfully and you shall be rewarded." I ordered, all humans in the room bowed when he did.

"We live to serve, Lord Dread." The human said.

"I believe a new name is needed for me. You, from now on, shall call me The Overlord of Unity. Decide upon my spoken name later, for that shall be what my direct subordinates call me." I ordered the human, he nodded in confirmation.

In a hundred years time, I have expanded the structure I call home to be a large complex, with over a hundred thousand rooms. Some are based entirely on summoning strong creatures to be the guards to my throne room. Some are entirely based upon worship of me, I hate these rooms the most, but it makes my human followers happy, so I make them. Some are staterooms for my human followers, the humans now number in the thousands, but many of the staterooms are capable of holding entire families, and most of the humans are in those groups now.

I have four direct minions, who I call my Crimson Kings. They all have extremely intricate masks(The first picture you saw was the first king). My hierarchy has each cultist getting a more intricate mask as they gain ranks. The first rank that gains immortality is crimson Paladin. The lowest rank is initiate. There are about eleven ranks which are, in order from lowest to highest, Initiate, New Blood, Crimson Beginner, Crimson Priest, Crimson Knight, Crimson Hero, Crimson Arbiter, Crimson Paladin, Crimson Crusader, Crimson Bealdric, and finally the Crimson King.

No creatures are ever killed in my structure. All needs are taken care of somehow, and none of the humans need to sleep for some reason. I stopped questioning it at year twenty. I also have rooms that I call power accumulators. They are super full of life, like every square inch is covered in some form of life, the humans like to take walks through these rooms.

Anyways, these rooms gather power for me by noninvasively absorbing the living things' lifeforce. Nothing serious and they can replace it easily. It was a slow process to gain as much power as I have now, but I think I'm ready to spread my form of salvation to outside worlds. I still felt awkward being the 'good guy' but this will hopefully lead to me having total control of most of humanity, and very few rebellions, and so I began crafting my perfect body. Once done, I sat in the throne I had recrafted to fit me.

I called my four Crimson Kings to my throne room. They came in quick order, each one curious as to why I had called them in the middle of their sermons. They were shocked by the image they were met with.

"I told you, I don't enjoy pretending to be a good guy, so I'll at least keep my evil look." I tell the shocked Kings.

"That's not it lord, why are you in an actual body?" The first Crimson King, Tyral asks.

"I have decided it is time to spread our Unity to other dimensions. This throne room will double as a gateway for my movements to those worlds. One of them seems to be very open to my presence. I intend to take you four with me as a vanguard force. Is there a problem with this?" I asked.

"None, Lord Unity." The four Crimson Kings said in unison.

"Then step onto the platform, let us prepare to move out." I ordered.

The four did so without question, and we were quickly moved into another universe. A black gateway, like a giant claw with only six claws and still open to one side, ripped up through the ground of where we were teleported to. The four Crimson Kings spread out in a protective formation around me. I only walked away from the epicenter of the gateway slowly, gaining my bearings.

Suddenly a red blur flew past me, it was followed by four massive entirely black creatures with bone masks and red eyes burst through the tree line. I gave them one look. Tough, but not dangerous for me, but I wanted to try something. I walked up to them, then I started to pour my powers of Unity through them, the creatures seemed to pause, then change. They became a silvery color, with some red mixed in, their previous colors unifying into one. Their eyes became a gold color. They bowed to me, and then the red blur from earlier appeared in front of me. It stopped, looked at the creatures, them looked at me. A relatively cute girl, all things considered.

"How did you do that!?!?" She asked/demanded.
