The pitter patter of rain hit against the stain glass window of the orphanage. The sound of the large clock was also the only sound of the building. Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock. Nothing more to any other sound of the lonely children.

The orphanage was bigger than a mansion. There was a large number of bedrooms on every floor. A entertainment area, a large courtyard, a gym, offices, and even classrooms. The orphanage was run by Father Demian Bichir and Mother Superior. There were not that many orphans that lived in the big orphanage. There were only six children. Scooter, Patrick, Penelope, Joesph, Jeffy and Sarah.

Our main characters for this series were of course, Sarah and her brother Jeffy. Sarah was new in the orphanage and differ from the other children, also the oldest. She was 10 years old. Jeffy and the other children were only 8. When Sarah first came to the orphanage, Jeffy and her got very along and he loved her like a older sister. Father Bichir was very fond of the children, more than Mother Superior. Mother Superior was very strict towards the children. Father Bichir was rarely around. Whenever he was about to leave, the children would cry seeing him leave, even though he promise them he would return. He always kept his promise of when he would.

Sarah, Jeffy, Scooter, Penelope, Joesph and Patrick were in the entertainment room looking bored. The tv was nothing but static because there was no connection during the storm. "I'm bored," Joesph groaned.

"Hi bored, I'm Scooter," scooter said.

"...seriously?" Joesph sneered at him.

"There's got to be something to do," Penelope said. She turned to Sarah. Usually Sarah always had ideas for them to play.

"Why you all looking me?" Sarah asked, even though she knew why.

"Come on, sis, please?" Jeffy asked. "We can play hide and seek. Can we please?..." he then made puppy eyes at her.

Sarah couldn't say no to a face like that so she started counting. "1...2...3..."

"What?" Patrick gasped, "why is Sarah counting!?"

"Everyone hide!" Joesph cried, and everyone ran as Sarah went to the wall and continued to count.

Jeffy ran from the group and hide in one of the bedrooms. Penelope went inside a empty office. Joesph hide one of the classrooms. Patrick hid in the locker rooms by the gym, and Scooter...well let's say he grabbed a lampshade and put it ontop of his head thinking it would work.

The sounds of hurrying feet annoyed Mother Superior. She even could hear giggling while she was on the phone. "Yes, Mr Spencer. You can come by tomorrow if you like. The latest has to be in the evening? That's fine...uh, Mr Spencer, can I put on hold for a minute please? Thank you..." Mother Superior then put the phone down and stormed outside hearing the giggling louder, "CHILDREN!?" She screamed. All the children stopped and came forward, "what...is the meaning of this!? I'm on the phone talking to a very rich man that may adopt one of you and you all are loud like a bunch of barbarians! SILENCE!" She then walked back in her office slamming her door shut.

"Well what are we gonna do now, dudes?" Joesph asked.

"Well, we can just read I guess," Jeffy said.

"Ooo I love reading," Penelope squealed with delight.

  "Reading is boring," Scooter said.

  "You're boring, Scooter!" Penelope growled.

"Guys, calm down." Sarah gasped, "how about we just...make arts and crafts?"

Everyone went quiet.

"...yeah that sounds kinda fun, dude," Joesph said.

"I mean it's quiet," Penelope said.

"Sounds boring. Scooter can't do arts...or crafts." Scooter said.

"I wanna do arts and crafts," Jeffy said raising his hand.

The kids then went back into the entertainment area and Sarah grabbed construction paper, scissors, glue and markers. "Alright. This will be fun, guys."

"I guess, dude."

The hours passed of them playing arts and crafts. Soon once they finished, Sarah gave another idea for them to play a card game.

  "How about Poker?" Scooter asked.

"None of us know how to play," Jeffy said.

  "Scooter doesn't either." Scooter said.

"How about Go Fish?" Sarah asked.

"That's sounds fun," Patrick said, "I love Go Fish."

Suddenly, Mother Superior came in, "Sarah. I need you to go to the shed and get something for me."

"But, Mother Superior it's dark out," Sarah explained.

"Don't back talk me, come on now." She grabbed Sarah's arm and dragged her out of the room to the back door. "I need you to get the crates full of vegetables."

"Why didn't you tell me this when it was still daytime?"

"It was still raining, how stupid are you?"

Sarah sighed. "Alright I will go," she said when Mother Superior handed her the lantern. Sarah head out and walked down the path into the woods. It was so eerie out in the dark forest late at night. Soon she came to the shed and unlocked with the skeleton key Mother Superior also gave her. Once the door was unlocked, she got inside. She started scrambling inside to find the vegetable crates. She jumped back seeing a doll on the floor. The doll had red hair, red blush, pale skin, and the most terrifying eyes she ever seen.

"Geesh! Why does Mother Superior have this thing here?" She went further in the shed. Suddenly she saw a glowing green color in the corner of the room. She went to it and moved boxes out of the way. There she found a strange watch. Not like humans made it. It looked out of this world type of watch.

"Where did this come from?" She asked herself. She reached out to it, but suddenly it jumped at her and clamped down on her wrist. "Ah!" She gasped, "Get off! Get off of me!"

She tried to pull it off, but it was stuck on her like glue. She sighed looking at it. "Well, whatever you are, I guess you're staying on me." She pulled her sleeve of her coat down to hide it and found the vegetables that Mother Superior wanted and headed back, but she jumped again seeing the doll moved now and was looking at her.

"Seriously!?" She sighed annoyed. She set the crate down and set the doll on the box where she was before. She picked up the crate and then walked out. She set it down again and locked the door of the shed. Once she got inside, Mother Superior frowned at her. "It's about time you showed up," she grabbed the crate from her, "Now, off to bed!"

"Yes, Mother Superior." Sarah then went upstairs and went in her room where her and Jeffy shared a bedroom together.

"How was the trip?" Jeffy asked.

"Alright, except I found Mother Superior's daughter inside." Sarah giggled.

Jeffy giggled himself. "Really?"

"No, just some ugly doll." Sarah replied and laid back on her bed. "Jeffy?"

"Yeah?"

"I promise, you and I will have a new family. A new mom and dad for us. Just you and me."

"A new mommy and daddy? For you and me?"

"Yep, for you and me. We won't be separated I promise."

"You really promise?"

"I do. And our family will be a big family."

"A big family?"

"Aunts, uncles, cousins."

"I like aunts, uncles, and cousins." Jeffy smiled.

"Me too."

"Would we have brothers and sisters?"

"If you want? Cousins can be the same as siblings." She smiled.

"I like you as my sister." Jeffy smiled.

"And I like you as my little brother, Jeffy. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, big sis." He yawned.

Sarah looked up at the ceiling. She smiled slightly thinking about their own family. They would have nice mother and father that were loving and caring. A sweet aunt, a big hearted uncle great with kids, and even little cousins running around. Another uncle who was always giving sweet candies to the kids. A goofy cousin that likes to prank everyone and make everyone laugh and smile. Yeah. A family like that. That's all she ever wanted, even Jeffy. Her eyelids felt heavy so she slowly shut them and fell asleep.
