The Dumpling
"No, mum. I swear I'm just cooking for her because she has cooked lasagna for me. It's kind of appreciated manner." I denied it as I saw my mum was grinning like an idiot through the phone.
I gotta love my mum and dad with all my heart. I never know I was lesbian until they told me that I was. Let me rephrase it. I kept denying my sexuality over girls than boys since I was a kid.
I finally admit I'm a lesbian since 17. Simply because I always told my mum how much my seatmate is pretty. I even talked about her in my dreams and my parents overheard it.
Besides, I had dated a few boys but we only last less than a week. I didn't even want to kiss them and I dislike their lips were rough and their rough hand touch my face.
Okay, try not to be rude. My exes were handsome. And my friends said I was an idiot for losing the gems. I'm so sorry. They deserved better.
It happened I had a crush on my seatmate. She was a pretty girl, ladylike and soft-spoken. I told my mum a lot about her back at that time. And lesson learned.
So, I never tell my mum about Abigail until today I had no other option. I slipped out her name when I was asking my mum about her masterpiece dumpling recipe. Stupid huh?
Back to our topic, my seatmate and I were close friends. We shared a lot like how I did with Abigail. Until that day I confessed to her, she politely told me that she was straight!
What can I do? Asked her for a friendship kiss? Nah, I only could laugh it off and did the lamest thing in my life and said, "Haha! It's April fool. I'm messing with you."
Yea, I always found that trick was damn stupid and like a moron. That's karma for me mocking the lame line which I used it too.
Well, no copyright. The line is free and very useful!
That was the most embarrassing in my life at that moment, but my seatmate is kind and sweet enough to brush it off. Deep down, we know that was a line to bury our awkwardness. Thank god, we are best friends now. She's ready to be a mama, and I was happy for her.
"Thinking about Abigail huh, sweetheart?" My mum grinned from ear to ear.
"No, I'm thinking about Elizabeth," I said sarcastically.
"Don't think any stupid idea about her. She was past tense," My mum said in disapproval as she shook her head.
I didn't mean to avoid sharing much about Abigail with my mum. Because I hate the idea after I shared the girls I like to my mum was not work it. It turned out they are straight or they already like someone.
Elizabeth was the best example, and I never want Abigail was turn out like that too.
I never want to have the idea to be Abigail's bridesmaid, watch her walk down the aisle, and reach to hold her groom's hand. Then, I was faking to cheer with all my heart and internally crying like a pathetic bitch when I witness Abigail share a kiss with her groom.
No, that's not gonna happen.
"Yea, I have the idea of polygamy with Elizabeth and her husband," I snorted.
"Rou Rou," my mum exclaimed as I burst out laughing and waved her off, "I'm kidding mum!"
"Are you keep eating burgers recently?" my mum asked as I pinched my face and shrugged, "At least two to three a week."
I heard my mum gasp, "That makes sense your burger face is getting big and now can become a regular pizza size."
I rolled my eyes, "Mum, you're overdramatic. I have a puffy face from you. I'm not fat and I have 6 packs." I simply hit my stomach.
"But, your face still looks like a burger." my mum argued.
I snorted and took the phone over my head, face down the angle in 45 degrees to show a better view to my mum, "Mum that was an angle problem just now. Of course, my face looks bigger just now."
I tilted my face left and right to show her as I used a finger to trace my jawline and said, "Mum I have jawlines. You sound like my face as a meatball."
"I believe that's photoshop effect. Nowadays so many apps to make the face sharper." my mum said with an unconvincing face.
My facial straightened as I put the phone on the table, threw out my hands, and said, "I give up. Wait you see me in person. You'll be proud of yourself."
"You should boost this confidence to Abigail. Don't be a coward." My mum said.
"Seriously mum? I don't like to be a cocky person. Whatever I have said to you just now was debating with you, and I was not boosting my ego." I explained.
"Mum, I bet the dough was dried up. Should I redo again?" I indicated the mess on my table as I heard my mum burst out laughing, "I'm worried you'll burn down your kitchen one day. From you born until today you just started learning to cook."
She grinned, "I think you really like Abigail a lot. You never learn cooking when you tried to court other girls last time."
I felt my face heated and I quickly distracted my mum about the topic, "Mum, so how do I make the meat paste? Can I blend it?"
"That will not be juicy if you blend it. Used cleaver knife to pound it." she suggested as I arched a corner of my lips and groaned, "Seriously, mum?"
"You should learn patience and passion from Abigail when you're cooking," she chuckled.
"Ughh... fine. I try, mum." I sighed.
"Remember, cook to someone you like with all your heart like how Abigail did to you," my mum said.
"Nah, I don't think she likes me, mum. Don't expect too much." I waved her off.
"It doesn't matter she likes you or not. She is a great person, it's worth being a friend too if someday you or her like someone."
Ughh... I don't like the idea. But, she was damn right.
"You're right, mum. She's an awesome friend." And, I like her a lot. Like a lot and a lot.
"I know that face. Now be a big girl and go learn cooking, Rou Rou," my mum beamed.
"Yes ma'am," I saluted as we started to make the dumpling.
🍔🍔🍔
Dumplings seemed easy to make, but there was no joke that it spend the half-day for me just to learn. I should appreciate everyone who had put so much effort into cooking. I should quit judging the food.
I felt my backside was sore after I stood long hours for making the dumpling. I groaned as I leaned against my seat. I was such a granny.
I took a container of the dumplings and handed it next to me as I rolled my eyes when I heard Bruce say, "I'm worried I might get food poisoning."
I simply used the container to hit him and said, "You should appreciate every cook who is willing to cook for you."
"Ow! My head! Dammit! Can you try to be soft?" Bruce muttered.
"Why do you being a meanie to me then? Take it," I chuckled.
"Ughh, fine," he said as I felt him take the container from me.
"Eat now, Bruce. Tell me how is it." I commanded.
"Later, I'm not hungry yet," Bruce said.
"Hurry and try at least 1 piece. If you said the food fails I'm not gonna take this to Abigail." I whispered sharply.
"That's what best friend suppose to do huh?" I could hear Bruce say with a hint of sarcasm.
"I swear I'll do you a favor too if you cook for your favorite girl in the future." I chuckled.
"Fine," Bruce said as I heard he opened the container lid.
"Oh not to forget dipped it with the vinegar and put the shredded ginger on it," I added as I peeked over to watch Bruce start taking the dumpling and did as I told.
The moment when the dumpling was entering his mouth, I waited and everything looks like so fucking slow.
The dumpling finally into his mouth. He chewed as his eyes lit up, He turned to me and thumb up, "Hey, it's delicious. Teach me."
I rested both of my hands on his shoulder and nudged him, "Really? Don't lie to me, please."
"Yes, It's nice and I love Chinese food. Just tell me the recipe." He said truthfully as I was relieved.
I loosened my hands from his shoulders and patted them once again. I gently hit my chest with my fist and said, "Your honest feedback is highly appreciated."
I squealed as I took another two containers of the dumplings and said, "Later,"
"Hey, the recipe." Bruce said out loud with the mouthful dumpling as I laughed, "I'll give you later, I promise."
🍔🍔🍔
"Wow, they look so tempting," Abigail said with her entwined hands and look into the box of dumplings as there is the most delicious food for her.
I propped my elbows on the table, entwined my hands, and rest my chin on it. I started watching her open the lit and put the small container with sauce aside and carefully opened.
"I like the vinegar smell." she waved on the sauce as she whiffed softly. She took the chopsticks and said, "I'm gonna eat them now."
"Sure," beamed as I waited for her to eat the dumplings.
She skillfully used the chopstick, clipped the shredded ginger, and put it on one of the dumplings, and she clipped the dumpling to dip the vinegar sauce.
Again I felt everything slow motion at the moment when the dumpling was into Abigail's cute mouth.
My heartbeat was pounding with "Dub-dub... Dub-dub..."
"Mmmmm...." Abigail moaned with her eyes close and I couldn't read her face whether the food is delicious or not.
"Mmmmmm..." Abigail moaned again as her adorable blue eyes finally opened. She didn't say anything, but she keep chewing the food.
After she finished the first piece of dumpling, she quickly took another dumpling to dip the sauce and threw it into her mouth. I was totally shocked by her manner.
This was the first time I saw she was a fast eater.
My eyes followed the dumpling throw into her mouth one by one, and she moaned in every bite of it. Finally, she finished the dumplings as she exclaimed, "Oh my god! They're too delicious. Thank you for your lovely dumplings."
"Seriously?" I asked expectedly.
She nodded her head, "Yes, it is." she chuckled sheepishly and pointed to another box of dumplings which is at my side, and asked, "That was not enough for me. Can I have those too?"
I couldn't help, but I was overexcited she like the dumplings I cook. I happily pushed it toward her and said, "Of course, take it. But, don't eat too much. I'm afraid you'll too full."
She giggled, "Umm... I always eat at least 20 pieces of dumplings."
My eyes widened, "That's too much."
"But, that portion is just right for me." she beamed and held the box of dumplings and asked cutely, "May I?"
"Sure, I'm glad you like it." I chuckled.
"I love it." she said as she took a dumpling dip the sauce and put it nearer my mouth and said, "Chef Law deserved at least a piece after her hard work."
I chuckled as I parted my lips for her to feed me. It was really delicious perhaps I was too hungry and my stomach growled out loud.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I shouldn't take yours to eat." Abigail said apologetically as I waved her off, "I'm thinking to eat another food for today. I actually ate about 30 pieces to test before I brought the best for you and Bruce."
I shuddered, "Ughh, so the rest you finish them."
She laughed as she feed me another one and said, "Just last for this one before you get your delivery cheeseburger."
"Hey, I'm not going to order a cheeseburger." I ate the dumpling Abigail fed me as I said with my mouthful dumpling, "I'll order tacos today."
"Add on for me, please," Abigail said with her cute smile.
"You're huge appetite," I commented.
"Maybe I'm gonna period. I'm just so hungry now." She said as I chuckled at her cute face.
"Okay, done. 5 tacos for you," I said as her eyes widened, "I don't think I can finish all of them. Maybe one or two is enough for me."
"Keep them during your dinner time as side dishes." I winked at her.
She grinned at me as she continued to eat the remaining dumpling as I smiled and watched her finish them.
This experience was kind of sweet to cook food for someone you like. I couldn't deny the feeling was so content when the person you like enjoying and appreciate the food you had cook for them.
My backside was fucking sore, but it's worth it!
