Chapter 11: The Lunch Date & Adria Rossi

Well, guessing by the title, you will get to know Hugo's feelings about The Selection. As well, that last name seems similar...

Hehe ;). Anyway, let's jump right into it! Enjoy!

Hugo swirled his champagne, eyeing the girl across from him. The sunlight glared on the stained glass windows, Hugo's midnight hair popping in the bright sunroom. The prince took a sip of his beverage, the girl laughing as he did so.

"Lunch was so fun," she smiled widely, "it was nice getting to know you."

"And you as well," the prince stood up. "Your name was?" He asked, double-checking.

"Naideline," she replied with a smile. "Right," he chuckled, "I'll see you around, I suppose."

Without thinking, the girl ran up to the prince and pecked him on the cheek.

Naideline waved as the hinges creaked loudly, all before the large bang when the doors shut. Hugo's smile faded instantly, rubbing his temples. He instantly used his thumb to pick at the ruby stain on his cheek.

"This is why I didn't want a selection," he grumbled, his kwami flying out of his pocket.

"That girl seems nice," he commented, getting a huff in reply from the prince. "She's cute," Plagg added, still not getting the reaction he wanted from Hugo.

"I don't care if she is pretty or not," he muttered aggressively.

"Look," his kwami started, flying directly up to his nose. "Just get Angela out of your head - you'll see this girl in a whole new light if you do that."

Hugo then huffed, pushing Plagg out of his face. "I don't want to get Angela out of my head." He mumbled in reply.

"What about what Johnathan said," Plagg teased, using air quotes.

Hugo rolled his eyes. "He can't control what I feel for Angela, and I promised I would not act on those temptations."

"What temptations?"

"Plagg, can we not."

Plagg went silent, Hugo picking up his papers from before. "Why are you always carrying around those papers?" Plagg asked.

"So I have a clean excuse for when people come up to me asking to do something," the prince spat sarcastically.

"Really?"

"Plagg-!?" He sighed deeply, "it's called sarcasm."

"What's that?"

The prince rolled his eyes. "It's nothing. Nevermind."

Plagg snickered as Hugo slammed the large door shut, the noise erupting through the hall. After pacing through the pathway, he hears the faint sound of high heels growing louder.

"Hello?" A girl with an alluring voice tapped his shoulder.

He glanced up. "Yes?" Is there something that you need?"

She smiled, "well, yes," she practically purred.

"Is that so," he sighed, "what is it?"

She extended out her hand, not replying. "Adria Rossi," she kept her hand up until Hugo reluctantly shook it.

He didn't know why the name felt familiar, but he let this thought pass like the evening wind.

"Hugo Agreste..." He muttered, the tension growing.

Her smirk seemed devilish, Hugo proceeding with caution in his next sentences.

"I was wondering," she paused, lacing her fingers through his cravat. "Would you like to stop by my room later on?" "For some alone time," she added.

"Excuse me?"

The prince scoffed in his head for her sad attempt of flirting. He could do so much better. Now... Hugo thought. Time to make things awkward so she leaves me the hell alone.

Though, Adria wasn't planning on giving up any time soon. "Do you have somewhere to be at the moment?"

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "I would rather have you stay, though."

He scoffed, "I wasn't talking about leaving." "I was referring to your romantic pursuits," he added strictly.

She didn't let down her guard, "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable, your majesty."

The prince thought for a moment, "you were not making me uncomfortable. I was simply questioning why you chose to do this."

Adria laughed. "Why else would I be doing that, if I did not have an interest in you." Hugo's eyes squinted. "I'm one of thirty-five girls who all want to be your queen."

"Excuse me-"

"Don't be surprised when we come off very assertive."

The prince stayed quiet, turning his back to the girl. "I suppose I will be meeting you later tonight," he smirked as she giggled.

"Excellent." He heard the clicking of her heels slowly fade as Plagg flew out of his pocket.

"Are you actually going to take her up on that offer?"

The prince scoffed. "Of course not."

Plagg stared at him, "then why would you lead her on?"

"Maybe then she will learn her lesson about flirting with me."

Plagg huffed, "this prince-boy is really... mean."

"I heard that, Plagg." He then scoffed. "And thank you, I agree."

Adria slammed the door to her room, leaning against the door frame.

"Told you he wasn't coming," she mumbled, a woman with chocolate hair blowing on her wet nail polish.

"Why not?" Lila Rossi scoffed, glaring at her.

"He's his grandfather's grandson," Adria shot back, "and did Gabriel Agreste like flirting?"

Lila rolled her eyes, "I still managed to get into Gabriel Agreste's room with my flirting."

Adria's expression turned into a disgusted one. "Ew."

"Oh my god," Lila groaned, "I didn't have sex with him, I just went to try and see if the crown jewels were there."

Adria rolled her eyes, "everyone knows that they are in the crown room." "Why don't you get them then?" Lila shot back, Adria sipping her freshly poured drink.

"Because I'm not interested in them," she mumbled, "and why do you even want them?"

"When did I say I want them?" Lila scoffed, "that's right, never."

Adria didn't care for her mother's approval, the same way Lila didn't care about her. She had only asked her to kill her crush's son and for her to become the queen. Adria was a prime example of a girl who wanted the crown, not the prince.

"I'll get him next time, I know now I can't do flirting." Lila rolled her eyes, "just wear a tight dress, and try not to look ugly."

Adria glared at her mother. "I wonder where I got my ugliness from, mom."

"That's so cute, you think you're being mean," Lila laughed, "if you grew up in the time I did, I'd love picking on you."

"I would just throw acid at your eyes," Adria mumbled.

Angela couldn't see straight again. She had made the mistake of drinking again.

She told Johnathan that she needed to take out everything from her room, but he didn't care about her suffering.

Johnathan rubbed his temples, pouring himself a needed glass of whiskey. Angela was curled up against the side of her bed, gripping one of the bottles in her left hand as her mascara stained the bedsheets.

"Can we take out all the alcohol of the room?" Angela whispered painfully. "I knew this would happen..."

Johnathan scoffed. "Just don't drink it."

Angela groaned, falling onto one of the poles of her bed as she struggled to stand up straight. "You don't understand," she mumbled quietly.

"I just - it's very easy to control if you drink or not," Johnathan mumbled.

"I'm not asking for you to help me," she sighed, "can we just take it out of my apartment."

"God," he muttered, "I will move out soon, I just need to live here until I get another modelling job."

Angela sighed, "what are you doing out all day if you don't have any job?"

"Why do I need to tell you?" Johnathan laughed as she curled her hand into a fist.

"Why can you not tell me," Angela shot back quickly.

Johnathan stood up, Angela shivering as his brows furrowed.

"Don't ask me again," he muttered angrily.

"I just did."

Johnathan slapped her across the face.

Angela felt her tears hit the floor.

Johnathan's expressions softened; realizing what he had done.

"Angela-"

She cried, running for the door, ignoring his angered shout.

She ran down the hall, crying as she turned the corner. She looked like she had come into the palace fresh from picking fresh berries in a rainstorm.

Angela's vision blurred again, her collapsing into a wall as a girl laughed. She looked up, Adria eyeing her up and down. "Honey, we need to get you dressed," Adria said, linking arms with her.

"W-We do?"

"Let's talk, sugar-pie."

Damn, so Johnathan is horrible confirmed. Also, Adria is going to chat with Angela... let's see how that will turn out. It's hard since Angela is very naive, but let's see if Adria will be nice, or live up to the title of evil.

But, as always, I hope you enjoyed! Stay tuned ;) Have a good day/night :D!
