Hidden rose (5/6)

They all were silent for a bit. Seeing Amy lost her composure surprised them as she always seemed so confident. It was just a proof she was like any person; Strong in upfront, but fragile inside.

"You are an outstanding man," said Gold after a short silence.

"I wonder about that. Should I have broken the rules and take her as my wife from the beginning? That way Amy might not have any special ability... or she might never be born." He shrugged.

"Making choices can be hard, but it's something we have to do," commented it Shadow. "But even so, you don't have a regret, do you?"

Reagan lifted his head. "Of course not! I'm proud at her." He looked at the small demon, who crouched, moving a bit further. The reddish hedgehog was watching him a bit. "So, you are Eclipse," he said after a short while. The small demon nodded, feeling unsure what to do or say. He was watching him.

Crestia was meanwhile checking that man a bit. She was sure with the right amount of threatening he would show his emotions, but as of now, he was having just a faint odor.

"I don't suppose there is a need to explain what my opinion on demons is," he said looking up at her, and she replied with a silent growl. "I can't even fathom how there are demons sitting next to us. It feels strange..." He took once more the teacup Shadow earlier refilled. "Yet... I can't say... I'm hating it."

If the demoness had pointy ears they would now twitch. What a strange remark. He continued: "I don't feel at ease either," he shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know how to describe it."

"I guess I understand," mumbled Sonic a bit too loudly, not realizing it until their eyes were on him. Mr. Rose slightly nodded with a smile, encouraging him to continue, so he did: "It's just... I don't like demons," the blue lad looked at Eclipse. "But I can't say I hate these two... I guess it can be fun to hang out with them." During the last sentence, he felt a bit red. Maybe he can try to trust them a bit?

Reagan resumed his speech: "Amy had proved me she can see the person's true face. So I shall try to trust in you too."

While the chained demon only nodded, Crestia smirked. This guy could be interesting and he had her favorite color too. And speaking of red... she quickly shooed that image, strongly snorting and noticing one smell she kept ignoring. "Someone is outside," she growled.

"What?" exclaimed everyone except for Silver, who turned toward the open window left behind the demons. With a jump and three strides, he was on the small balcony, seeing a figure jumping from the tree, landing on the ground and running away.

The demoness dug her claws into the thick fence, but psychic was a lot faster with his power, catching that person with an ease. The figure was kicking around, trying to break free, but it was futile and it was brought to the light.

"Mr. Earl!" gasped Gold stopping next to her partner.

"What's that old guy doing here?" asked Sonic standing behind father Shadow.

"I'm not old!" repulsed Brian hovering in the air. "I'm twenty-one, kid!" He was baring his teeth, angrily glancing at Silver who was having one fine smug smile.

"Mr. Earl, how much have you heard?" asked him Reagan coming closer. The balcony felt quite cramped now.

Brian scowled a bit, feeling ashamed he had been caught red-handed. "Enough to see and understand why she had refused me." His eyes trailed toward the bulky demoness, that was still sitting at the fence with crossed arms. The left fang was poking out... but it sure wasn't a cute-charm in her case.

"What we will do with him?" asked the blue boy. "He may be a blabbermouth."

Silver glanced at Crestia. "Isn't it a nice coincidence we have a body-removing expert here?" With an amused smirk, he pushed the sokina closer to the female demon, who stuck her forked tongue out drooling.

"That's right! There was supposed to be a dinner!" She rubbed her hands, having a big cheesy smile. "Let's dig in!"

The psychic's grin started to feel forced as a great pain was thrust into his body... and the truth was much closer than one might think... specifically in a form of a heel crushing his toes. Gold was able to put up with a lot of his childishness, but this wasn't a place either a time to make such jokes.

"Just joking, just joking," the exorcist mumbled thru his gritted teeth, putting the man down. Only then his toes were released.

"Ahh, don't you need meat for growing healthy?" faltered Crestia sounding sad, but her eyes were sparkling with mischievous pleasure.

Brian cleared his throat trying to make some distance from her without looking awkward.

"Now I think we have to discuss something else too," said Gold indicating this situation might get out of the hand.

Amy had no idea what was happening. She was preoccupied with her own fears and memories. As she rushed from the lounge, she gradually slowed down, almost assuming snail's pace. The corridors were empty, only lights were accompanying her.

The return of the young lady was a huge event for them, so once anything important was finished, her father ordered to all employees to take the rest of the day off. Of course, there were still some guards or other staff, but they were in their own quarters. So that's why no one saw her mother running terrified or her rushing after her.

As she was walking she could feel the walls to crush her, robbing her of the air... but that was the work of the memories. The memories she took for the truth... might have been a lie all along. She finally reached her parent's bedroom. She touched the handle, it was cold, but the door was ajar. The young miss pushed them open seeing a dark room in front of her.

It was spacious, having all one can need, wardrobes, toilet tables with mirrors, silk curtains in the windows with small balconies, some bookshelf, and a big king-sized bed. On it was laying a figure, hugging a pillow and sobbing.

"Mother," Amy silently called her, coming closer. How long it was since she spent a night with her parents in one bed? Must have been a long time... she hardly remembered it. The girl stopped next to the bed, silently whispering: "I'm sorry." She felt this all was her fault. Should have she accepted the proposal? That would make her mother happy, but... It wouldn't solve any problem.

The lass heard her mother got up, looking at her. "Amy..."

They were looking into each other's eyes, seeing a depth they were hiding all the time. "I'm sorry, mother, I--" her sentence was cut short as she was hugged.

"Please, don't go," she sobbed while stroking her daughter's quills.

"I can't," she returned the hug, "I love you."

"I love you too." They kept embracing for a while, before Adeline broke it, looking at her daughter with teary eyes. "You... always liked to explore... just like Morgan..." her voice was faltering.

"Yeah, father told me about it." She smiled. "I must be a lucky girl, having two fathers who gave me so much love."

The pink lady was looking at her, patting her quills. "I'm sorry."

Amy only slightly shook the head. "There is no need. You tried to protect me the best way you could and I failed to see it in you." She moved to sit up on the bed, not letting go of her mother's hand. "You love him dearly, I'm sorry I couldn't notice it earlier."

"I don't want for you to leave. Stay with us," she started to cry, asking her daughter to stay once more.

"Mother, I wish I could, but we both know it can't be done. A different path appeared in front of me and I must take it to protect ones dear to me." Her smile was now a bit sad. "I can't imagine how dangerous it will be, but I know there will be a friend by my side all the time."

"But he is...!" she wasn't able to finish her sentence, seeing those big blue eyes staring at her.

"I know, but that's just the shell. Inside of it is a kind child, still growing and learning. I wish to teach him all I know." She pressed her hand with both of hers. "The things you and father have taught me. The love you gave me. I want for him to feel it too... the happiness coming from knowing you are important for someone."

Adeline was watching her daughter... she was no longer a child... but a wonderful lady... 'Morgan... our daughter... is just like you... Can you see it?' Tears poured down her eyes.

"I wish to use my power for good. To help people in any way."

"You are just like your father," she gently said. "He also believed power exists to help and create, not to hurt and destroy."

"Can you... tell me about him?"

Adeline smiled and this time, there wasn't anything being hidden by it. "Yes, there is this funny story how he..."
