Chapter 12: The strongest force of all
Amon's POV
My look glides through the room again, and I smile softly.
The air is filled with golden, glowing particles of light, and it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Some of the decorations are rainbow-colored.
And there are also butterflies made of light flying around the room, in every color, but most of them either blue or purple because Milo and I made them.
I take a deep breath and look down again and then see Milo from far away.
I look at him in awe. He looks stunning. And he's smiling so big as he's walking down the aisle, his arm linked with his mother's.
God, I can't believe I'm actually getting married to him. I love him so much.
Shit, I'm already tearing up. I gotta get myself together.
I exchange a quick smile with Philomena, who will be officiating. Then I look over at my family, Sophia, Mike, and Elena, who are sitting in the front row, smiling at me.
I look back at Milo, who is now standing in front of me, radiating so much love and happiness. He's the most beautiful person I have ever seen.
Fiona sits down next to Calypso, who came back to the coven once she heard that Caspian wasn't in charge anymore.
"You look beautiful," I whisper. Milo is wearing a baby blue suit with gold details, and I'm wearing a lavender one with gold details as well.
Milo blushes a bit. "You too," he whispers back, and I smile.
"Dear friends, dear family," Philomena starts, and Milo and I turn our attention to her, "we are gathered here today to celebrate something wonderful. Some might even say magical."
People chuckle, and Philomena looks very pleased with herself.
"We're here to celebrate the most powerful of all things," she keeps going, "and that is love. It's been such a sweet thing to watch these two people fall in love, from the day they first met to right here where we are now. But I've said enough. You may now exchange your vows. Amon, would you like to start?"
I nod and take a deep breath. I take a piece of paper out of my coat pocket and unfold it. God, I'm a bit nervous now. I worked a while on this.
"Milo, you... you came into my life out of nowhere. Literally. You were just in my apartment one day, and I almost called the cops on you."
People chuckle, including Milo.
"And... that day, my life got turned upside down in so many ways. And even though I learned about magic that day, it wasn't the most important thing that happened that day. Meeting you was more important and impactful than anything else in my life."
I see that there are tears in his eyes, and I'm starting to tear up as well. I sniff.
"You helped me through so much, and you always believed in me, even when almost no one else did. You always see the good in me. And... you make me incredibly happy. You are the kindest person I have ever met, and there's no one I'd rather spend the rest of my life with than you. I love you so much. Thank you for everything you've done for me. I promise to always support and protect you and stay by your side, whatever may come."
I fold the paper again and put it back in my pocket, a few tears streaming down my face. I look up and see that Milo is crying and looking at me with the softest and most loving look. He wipes away some tears.
"That was beautiful," he breathes.
I chuckle and smile. "Thank you."
I glance at the people sitting there and see that a lot of them are crying as well. I look back at Philomena, who isn't crying, but I can tell she's fighting back tears.
She smiles at us. "Milo, you can go ahead now."
He nods and sniffs one more time before taking out a piece of paper as well. He clears his throat.
"You know, sometimes the world around makes it hard for us humans to believe in ourselves and to think positively about ourselves. We're quick to get ourselves down. And to have a person who will support you, no matter what, and try their best to help you see your true worth... I didn't think I'd ever get that."
He smiles at me for a second. "But here you are. You are everything I've ever dreamed of and more, Amon. When I recruited you for the coven, I went there to find help to save people I care about. I didn't expect to find... my soulmate."
Fuck, I can't stop the tears anymore. I smile at him, tears just streaming down my face, and I spot a few on his cheeks as well.
"You helped me so much. You make me the best version of myself, and I had no idea it was possible to love someone as much as I love you. I might have grown up with magic, but I only started learning what real magic is the day I waited for you in your apartment."
I smile big. God, he's so cute, so innocent, so pure. I wanna protect him from everything bad in this world, and that's what I'll try to do for the rest of my life.
He wipes away a tear. "Thank you for being in my life and for always supporting me. I promise to always support you as well and love you till the end of time."
I glance over at Philomena and see her discretely wipe away a tear. Milo nods at her to show her that he's done. She smiles.
"Thank you both. That was beautiful. Now... Let's start with you, Amon. Do you, Amon, take Milo as your lawfully wedded husband? Do you promise to accept him just as he is, sharing with him and supporting him through the experiences of your lives, be they easy or difficult, happy or sad, challenging or mundane, till death do you part?"
I sniff. "I do."
"And do you, Milo, take Amon as your lawfully wedded husband? Do you promise to accept him just as he is, sharing with him and supporting him through the experiences of your lives, be they easy or difficult, happy or sad, challenging or mundane, till death do you part?"
"I do."
We smile at each other, and I feel like my heart is about to burst.
Philomena smiles. "Congratulations, you are married! You may now kiss!"
I gently pull him closer, and we kiss for a few seconds. Nothing else matters right now. Just Milo. People cheer, and I smile into the kiss. We eventually let go of each other and smile at each other.
"I love you so much," I mumble.
"I love you more," he replies, and I nudge him softly.
"Shut up, husband."
He laughs and takes my hand, pulling me towards the other people.
A few hours later...
Milo and I are just lying there for a while, in comfortable silence.
"Today was amazing," Milo says after a while.
"Yeah. Yeah, it really was." I smile over at him.
It's quiet again. "Hey, do you wanna go watch the stars?" I ask him.
He smiles. "That sounds great. We should probably get dressed first, though."
I laugh. "Probably."
We get dressed and end up sitting on the roof, putting some of our glow around us to make sure we don't fall down. I take his hand.
"I wish this moment could last forever," I say with a soft smile.
"Yeah, me too. But it's okay because I have a lifetime to spend with you." He turns his head and just looks at me for a while.
"What?" I ask, chuckling.
"You're very, very pretty, do you know that?" he says, and I can't help but blush a bit.
"Shut up, not as pretty as you," I reply and kiss him gently.
He grins. "You know what we could do after that?"
"What?"
He pokes my face with his finger, smiling lovingly. "Get ramen."
I laugh softly. "Sounds good to me."
I kiss him again, and we lean closer, our foreheads touching. "I'm so excited to spend my life with you," I breathe.
"Me too. It's gonna be great. Magical, even."
We both laugh, and I smile to myself.
"I love you so much," I say.
"I love you too. To the end of the universe and back."
I squeeze his hand softly and close my eyes.
Milo might have introduced me to magic back then when he was waiting in my apartment.
But the real magic is his love.
It's the strongest force of all. Because of love, we were able to overcome so much. It made us so strong. So even though I've learned a lot about magic, there is one thing I know for sure:
There is nothing quite as magical and meaningful as love.
