Chapter 2
I haven't heard or said any such words in what feels like a millennium, and today, I'm hearing them from a complete stranger who looks exactly like my quisling ex-boyfriend.
"Thanks, Yash." I muttered. I clasped a hand on my mouth as I realized his name escaping my lips.
He gave me a look full of confusion and simultaneously, I hoped he would never ask who Yash was.
"Yash?"
Here we go! Ready to cook up another lie?
Step number 1:
Boil an emotional/cute/scary story but at an extremely high temperature.
"I met a guy in high school. Cute, loving, kind and with every quality a girl ever needs. I started liking him and so did he and eventually, the 'like' turned into love. We thought that we were meant for each other and would do anything and everything to be together for the rest of our lives."
Step number 2:
Add a bit of spice to the story after it has been completely boiled and the person has been captivated in the unrealistic interest of the story.
"Apparently, we thought wrong. We weren't meant for each other and his cancer proved to be a big boulder in the path of our tiny love story. We knew we had to separate our ways before the time is up."
Step number 3:
The person is sure to be entirely soaked in the water of the story you boiled in the first step. Time to add a bit of emotional flavouring and a part of truth. Don't forget to shed a few tears, here and there.
"He left the town for his treatment, but never came back. Yash Chopra was the only guy I ever loved and coincidentally, he looked exactly like you."
Your 'How to make up a pragmatic lie' is ready to be served!
He looked partly satisfied with my answer but somewhere in his orbs, I saw doubt and uncertainty. I could pre-eminently catch a glimpse of him wanting to ask a question but restraining himself from doing so.
"What brings you here?" Before he could form a question, I cancelled him out.
He let out a heavy breath of frustration, probably figuring out a lie to tell me.
"I was accused of killing my own mother." I was mentally debating with myself whether to believe he actually did this or not. Looks decieved me the last time, not sure if they will again.
With no other information, he lay down on his bunker. I didn't want to get my heart abducted by lies, knowing it will end up dead. It's good though, that we have something in common, we both were accused of things we didn't commit.
"Did you really do it?" It was a facepalm worthy question but I don't think there was any harm in asking it.
"What makes you think that even if I did, I would tell the truth?" He cocked up an eyebrow as he turned to face me, his eyes looking extremely mischievous. Ugh! This similarity is terminating my senses!
I shrugged and chuckled in reply while he joined in.
I don't know why, but I feel a sort of connection with this man. Either it's really Yash or just my fate of meeting a better version of him.
