The Wrong One - Part 1
Mmmmyep. Just a smidgen of violence and torture. That's my warning, have a nice day.
Cub, specifically the one from the War AU, was poring over volumes and tomes of knowledge about one topic: interdimensional travel. After all, other universes could have resources he could use to destroy the hermits.
He flipped over the page, and saw something that gave him inspiration: a design for a possible machine, signed by three people. Two of the signatures were illegible, but the third read 'Zilch'. Only one problem with the blueprints. There was a note attached, saying that the two that tested it are missing, presumed dead.
So there would be no way back. Well, luckily, Cub had some extra tricks up his sleeve. Tricks like an overdose of Vex Magic.
Time Skip brought to you by a little bit of sneaky backstory.
There it was. Cub brushed the crystalline dust off of his hands. He stood before a complicated contraption, wired into the wall with various pipes and Redstone wires, looking very Sci-fi in general. The only thing that differed from the blueprints was a floating crystal instead of mechanical jiggery-pokery where it was labelled 'belay-bungee-thing'. Whoever these scientists were, they were quite immature.
But anyway.
Cub waved his hand, charging up the machine. It fired, creating a Vex-blue crystalline surface. On the other side, he saw himself, or someone who appeared to be himself, explaining the mechanics of the old auto-smelter to someone who looked like Joe. Except Joe wasn't in any kind of war uniform. How interesting.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the looking glass...
"Are you sure about this, my good Cubfan?" Joe stood nervously in the room, feeling as if he didn't belong here, even though he had become an affiliate of ConCorp to pay off his debts.
"Why of course, you're helping keep our shops in stock, you're like a Vex in everything but magic." Cub, despite being an inch shorter than Joe, still managed ruffle the poet's hair playfully.
And then a rippling happened in the air, as a crystalline mirror began to materialise. Cub drew his sword, motioning for Joe to do the same. Joe shook his head.
"I don't usually carry a sword, because, as someone wise once said, the pen is mightier than-"
"Just hide until it's safe then." Cub interrupted Joe's rambling. Joe did as Cub suggested, ducking out of the door.
The mirror rippled into existence fully at that point, as the War AU Cub stepped through. The main Cub stepped back, startled at seeing another of, well... himself. He looked his alternate in the eye, raising his sword.
"Who are you?"
"I'm you, but more powerful."
"Oh yeah? Where's Scar then? He's my greatest strength."
At this, War!Cub burst out laughing, the last vestige of his uncorrupted self begging to stop. Nonetheless, he looked up, staring the main timeline Cub in the eye.
"No. Scar's your greatest weakness. You, my... self, I guess... have a lot to learn, don't you? Come with me, I'll show you untold power."
"Can Scar come?"
"No, that's lesson one. Learning to work on your own. No Scar."
"I'm not coming, then."
"Who said you had a choice?"
And with that, the main Cub found himself under attack from his more insane alternate. The diamond sword whooshed past his shoulder, he dodged rapidly, desperately fighting off the other Cub until he found himself pinned against the wall. War!Cub, smirking in a way only someone as corrupt as he was could, slammed Cub's head against the the wall, leaving a bloodstain.
The main Cub crumpled to the ground, dully feeling War!Cub rolling him over before he lost consciousness. Heh. What was consciousness anyway? Heh heh.
Time skip brought to you by the rebellious blue sheep. Rest In Peace.
Cub woke up in some kind of lab. He tried to move, but found crystals restraining him. Crystals that resembled his own magic. The door then creaked open, revealing his alternate self.
"Where am I?" He asked, tones of anger and fear filling his voice. "What are you doing?"
"Hush now. You'll be fine when I'm done. More than, because you'll understand true power. As for where we are? My place. Don't mind the massive-scale war upstairs."
And with that, a spotlight flooded Cub's face, and War!Cub set to work.
There will be a part 2. And possibly a part 3. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go binge watch Scar's season four episodes BECAUSE I CAN!
Also, like, what should I refer to the Cubs as? I have nicknames in the Interactive Story, but don't really here.
