Hit The Deck
So in English class, we start off the lesson with a Creative Writing prompt. We're supposed to write 2-5 sentences.
I went a little over that today. Just a little.
It's not my fault, my nine borrowed braincells all aligned, screaming vague things about Decked Out.
Prompt was: "They didn't let me stop..."
They didn't let me stop. Heart hammering, footsteps thundering, I ran like my life depended on it. It probably did. I checked over my shoulder, and sure enough, there was a beast after me. My eyes, overly attentive from the fear, noticed a tag with the name of my best friend, scrawled in messy handwriting, clipped to the thing's collar. I had never felt so betrayed in my life.
There was, however, no space for betrayal. I had a goal, and I needed to reach it. I bolted, turning a corner and checking the ever-so precious compass. I was close. I could feel it. Eventually, the monster's thunderous footsteps died out behind me. I paused for breath, gasping, heaving. A bell tolled, startling me. My heartbeat sped up as the wall behind me collapsed, revealing the face of another beast.
I screamed, turning to run, but not escaping before one of its tusks bore through my shoulder. I let out a yell of pain. But I didn't stop. The beast didn't let me stop. I ran, following my compass' dubious directions, skidding through hallways and between rooms, until I reached a doorway, the beast lost behind me. I ran in - and was greeted by the treasure room. I was there.
I ignored all the diamonds and the emeralds and the gold, moving instead to a point in the room where my compass spun like mad. I pressed it to the floor, triggering a hidden mechanism which opened a panel to reveal something priceless - the very tome I'd come to this vexforsaken place for. I picked it up, tucking it into a pocket on the inside of my brown jacket.
I looked at the door with apprehension. Now I just needed to get out of here.
I might also do something Soul Trade related later, idk. The next main arc chapter isn't quite done yet.
I've been Entropy, peace out from the present!
