Chapter 9: What happened?

I awoken in the real world, and there was Zeta, making something in a piece of bark in the shape of a bowl. “Morning, Zolan.” Said Zeta. I looked at him weirdly. “I had the strangest dream last night.” I said. He stopped what he was doing. “That was no dream, with a new heart in control, you can freely explore your mind and instantly pass time. Artemis should’ve already told you this.” Said Zeta. I looked in the “bowl” and looked to see what he was making. “What is that?” I asked. “Ever hear of wild trail mix?” Zeta asked. “Yeah, and that stuff is kind of good.” I said. He looked at me. “You’ll be eating this, because I can’t eat for a while.” Zeta said. “Says who?” I said. “Says me.” He said backfiring. He looked at me like he knew something was wrong with me, and yes there was, but it would ruin his plans to defeat The Hollowed Man. “Is there something wrong? I can sense some type of bad aura around you.” Zeta asked. Dang, he found out. He was a mind reader, but so was Artemis because she was literally in my mind. “There is a piece of my memory missing and I don’t know what it is, yet it could possibly be a major breakthrough to your mission.” I said. He sighed, but then gave me a look that seemed like the same look he gave when he felt the aura. “I don’t seem to feel any focused thought in you, do you actually want to find out?” He asked. That just made my decision even harder. He could tell me every feeling I feel, so if I feel weird, he knows. “Let’s do it.” I said. He looked at me AGAIN. “You feel weird, don’t you?” Zeta said. “Come on, stop with that already! I already feel bad about Artemis being able to read my mind because she’s literally in it!” I said loudly. He seemed surprised, so I started eating to quiet things down. “You know, I actually thought you liked loneliness, but now, I think it would be the worst thing for you to have, and I’m your best bet that will cause you to stay free and live.” Said Zeta. How did he know that? I wasn’t even thinking of that, but he knew now. “Let’s go, I’m ready.” I said. This time, he actually followed me outside, but I didn’t know what to do next. “Where are we going, Zolan?” He asked. I looked at him and shrugged, and he put his face to his palm. “IDK WHAT TO DO!!!” I thought in my mind. I knew where the memory took place, so we had to go to the leveled-down science lab. “We have to go to the science lab.” I said to Zeta. Zeta ran in front of me to stop me. “Zolan, close your eyes.” He said. “Uhm, why?” I asked. “You can get us there by Artemis, just tell her where you’re going and we’ll be there by the time you open your eyes.” He said. I did just that, and went into my mind.

“Artemis! Can you get me to the science lab, the one I saw earlier?!” I yelled so I could find her. “Yes, I could.” Artemis said right behind me making me jump. If it really took that short, I’d be doing this for days.

I opened my eyes and here we were, the science lab. How was I gonna learn anything off of an empty lot being cleared of debris? “Now what? Zolan? I’m following your lead since this is your mini mission, so show me the way.” Said Zeta. It was time for me to finally get Zeta into my mind and help me on this. “Zeta, is there a way for you to get into my mind, and for me to get into yours?” I asked. “Yes, but I’d be the lead in my mind as you are in your mind.” Zeta said. I closed my eyes once again, and there I was, in my mind with Zeta. “Let’s take a look at that memory, alright?” Zeta asked. I nodded. It was about time that we began to solve my own mystery…
