8| False alarm--
Yuki's mouth was hanging open with drool threatening to spill out as she almost fell into deep sleep.
Once again, she couldn't be left alone to sleep as another rustle sounded through the still night air.
Usually, back home, Yuki wouldn't be bothered by a train rumbling by if asleep. Guess being plane wrecked in the middle of nowhere teaches you things-like always being on alert:
She quickly sucked air in, swallowed the drool, and sat up abruptly.
She looked around with wide eyes; she couldn't believe the amount of rustling she's heard today.
The rustling sounded like it was getting closer; Yuki had to act fast, so she looked around for a potential weapon.
She quickly got to her feet and grabbed a long branch that was discarded on the other side of the tree.
She approached the rustling, hiding behind a bush or a tree with every step until she was close enough.
She finally hid behind a tree, holding the branch steady-ready to swing.
She held her breath, fearing the creature would hear her, and stood absolutely still.
She heard short erratic breaths-strangely more human than animalistic-and suspected it stopped moving for a while.
She assumed it started moving again as a result of the crunching twigs underneath several light footsteps.
From the side of her eyes, she saw something stop beside her, and only panic made her do the next thing she did.
She gripped the branch tightly, digging her nails in the hard wood, and swung it with full force onto the creature.
She didn't think of possibilities what this creature might be or the possible reactions of that creature: her mind went blank only this instant.
A loud yell broke through the dark woods, and cussing erupted from the creeper's mouth.
"What the-ahh, man, fuck! Why the-aww, sOn oF a BiTcH!"
Yuki appeared into his view; and she could only gasp with her hands on her mouth, trying to hold her laughs in after realizing she'd hit him right between his legs. Of course she'd aim low; she expected an animal like a bear or something!
He just held his crotch, and squirmed around, whining and cussing his heart out. Tears of pain even started escaping the corners of his eyes.
"Oh my god-" Yuki just lost it and fell on the ground next to him, laughing.
She wasn't aware of the guy's familiar voice and features; she couldn't exactly make them out in the moonlit dark.
"No, it hurts so fucking bad," he whined.
"That's what you get for creeping up on me," Yuki said as she wiped her tears.
"Creeping up on yo-the fuck you mean?! I literally thought everyone was dead, and I'm the only one alive," he groaned as he tried sitting up, cussing in the process.
"Yeah, well, I think your chili's dead, too. Sorry for being the one to tell you," Yuki said wryly, standing up and dusting her clothes.
Now that he has a clearer view of her face, his brows furrowed. He recognized the short hair and the baggy clothes.
"Do I know you?" He asked.
"Do you, really?" She rolled her eyes.
"No, I mean, have I seen you before?" He said.
"Well, I could only assume we were on the same plane-"
"You're the shortie who broke my glasses!" He gasped in realization.
"What? I didn't-"
"And spilled the damn coffee on me. Man, I almost cut a bitch. It was one of the rare times I ever bought coffee!"
"Stop being an ass. Your glasses just fell, and I even gave them back to you-and I'm not that short! You almost made me trip and embarrass myself in front of the whole population," Yuki snapped.
"No offense, but I don't think anyone noticed you besides me," The boy grunted loudly as he held onto a tree and tried to get up.
Yuki kicked his shoulder, and he fell back on his butt with a yelp, holding onto his crotch helplessly.
"None taken," She said as she shrugged a shoulder, turned around, and started making her way back to the tree.
"Haven't anyone told you not to kick someone when they're already down? Besides, you should be glad a handsome lad like me noticed you!" He yelled after her.
"I'm gonna give you another chance to shut the fuck up before I end your baby making career!"
The boy just focused on getting up instead and tried following Yuki's tracks back to the tree.
"Damn, are those panties and a bra? Damn, is that a lake?" The boy immediately redirected his feet towards the lake and limped there.
Yuki's undergarments still hang there, and she didn't bother to put them down.
He went onto his knees and took big sips.
"Don't think you should get too much of that. You'll feel like you've had rotten cheese and spoiled milk for dinner after a few minutes."
He ignored her warning and kept drinking like he's never seen water before; then crawled to where she was lying and plopped down beside her.
After a few still moments, she heard him shifting.
Then as she continued drawing random shapes on the soil with her finger tips, she suddenly heard him sit up quickly and throw up.
She sat up and watched him with a disgusted face.
"You didn't have to go through that, dumbass. You're just too cocky to listen," she spat as she watched him practically throw his guts up.
He panted and lied back with a tired face and some vomit at his lips. "Berries?" He mumbled.
"If only my face would turn green..." Yuki muttered.
"Don't forget to bury that before sleeping," she sighed as she crawled away from him onto another side of the tree and lied on her side.
After a few moments of not hearing him moving, she said, "I swear, I'm gonna feed you your own vomit."
He reached out, threw some soil on it and almost immediately passed out under the tree.
