Epilogue

THE DAY HAS COME!!!!!! THE MOVIE IS FINALLY HERE!!!! Please enjoy this very last chapter of "The countdown". I hope you guys enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

2 years and six months later....

Tigress felt a wave of exhaustion come over her as she laid in bed, again feeling completely helpless. Of course, she had felt like that for a long time at that point.

Po sat beside her on the bed and gave her a gentle kiss on the cheek. "How are you feeling?" he asked. "Besides ready to rip off my head?"

"That feeling passed by a few minutes ago," Tigress assured him. "Now I feel so tired I want to just fall asleep."

Po chuckled. "I'm sure you do," he acknowledged. "But maybe you might want to hold off on that for a bit."

A squirming babble from Po's arms got their attention and the Dragon Warrior offered the small bundle to his wife. Tigress smiled and gathered up her strength to take the new baby and cuddle him. He was no bigger than  a bread pan and was currently wrapped up in Tigress' old baby blanket. The master gently rocked him, lifting a weak paw to trace the small yin-yang mark on the baby's forehead.

"Was this what he looked like in your vision?" Tigress asked.

"Pretty much," Po replied with a smile. He gently stroked the baby's chin, causing the tiny black and white hybrid to coo and snuggle deeper into the blanket. "You know," he added. "We should pick out a name for him."

"Can't we do that later once I've taken a quick nap?"

Po smirked. "You're starting to sound like me," he noted.

"Well, I am tired, Po."

"I know. But you'll feel better when you take a nap and wake up knowing you can actually call him by a name."

Tigress watched the little baby close his eyes and fall asleep, his tiny chest moving up and down with every breath. "Well, alright," she said finally. "If you insist. But not without Dai."

"I know. We won't give out names without him. Although dad's already given out suggestions."

"Which one?"

"Both of them."

Almost three months after first meeting Dai, Tigress watched him continually get rejected by skeptical parents who were a bit afraid to adopt him. She had felt bad for him and finally considered adopting the child herself even though she was terrified of messing up at being a parent. Master Shifu, having just returned from a week-long honey-moon, assured her that he had gone through a similar situation when adopting both her and Tai Lung. (And almost completely screwing up with Tigress due to undergoing his son's recent betrayal). Despite some of his flaws however, Shifu still took good care of the two. And even when he had moments where he felt like he was failing, there was always Master Oogway to lend a helping hand when needed. Likewise, she wouldn't always be perfect, but even if she thought she was doing something wrong, she'd have her friends as well as himself to help guide her. Tigress had gratefully accepted the advice and started to set up a space for the little crocodile. Unfortunately, the next time adoption day rolled around, a young couple decided to take Dai home with them, leaving the master feeling upset since she had been looking forward to taking him home. The masters helped to console her with the disappointment, after which she finally returned to her normal temperament, though it was slightly tainted with sadness.

An entire year passed by afterwards. Mr.Ping and Scorpion continued to date, Po visited Li and Bao for a month, (though Mei-Mei was clearly less than thrilled to see Tigress accompany him), Crane and Viper made their dating known almost immediately while Tigress and Po took about seven months to make it public, Quan-Ying and Mantis broke up several times before Mantis finally asked her to marry him, the valley was bombarded with several nasty attacks from kimonos but they were soon defeated, and Po got another vision of the islands he had seen months earlier where he learned that Tai Lung had started to improve in terms of recovery, something he was more than happy to pass on to Shifu who was relieved to know of his son's repentance.

Two months then passed by. Mantis nearly left the Furious Five, but upon discovery that Quan-Ying also knew kung fu, she was more than welcomed into the Jade Palace. Monkey began a relationship with a young rabbit who had moved into the village, but she turned out to be after Po which resulted with an immediate break up and a death threat from Tigress. Bao, Li, and Mei-Mei stopped by the valley for a visit, Mei-Mei and Tigress trying to remain civil but only managing an hour and three minutes before they started a fight outside due to Mei-Mei dumping ice down the master's back and calling her a cold jerk. Mr. Ping and Scorpion nearly broke up due to a miscommunication, but they soon made up with a kiss, a candle-light dinner, and a three day vacation to the Zhu Jian Hot Springs. Po and Tigress got engaged, resulting with a happy cry from the villagers and an angry response from Mei-Mei who was still not over her and Po's break-up. (If you could call it that).

A month later, Mrs. Ire arrived at the Jade Palace with concern, mentioning that Dai's adopted parents had brought him back after having their own child and "no longer needing someone else's burden". After taking an entire night to calm the despaired six year old down, Tigress adopted him and took him home to the Jade Palace where the crocodile took only a few days to happily settle in, though he was a bit skeptical when he learned that Tigress was to get married in two months.

A month after the two warriors were married, they were congratulated with the news of their biological first-born which only Po knew before-hand to be a boy. Dai, remembering what happened the first time an adopted family had a baby, had tried to run away from the Jade Palace, but Tigress was able to track him down and bring him home. Her and Po then assured the young child that they didn't plan on giving him away, unlike his real parents and his former adopted ones. Dai was a bit doubtful, but he didn't run away again, so Tigress assumed that he trusted her.

A knock on the door got the couple's attention and the door opened just a crack to allow the doctor to come back inside from informing everyone of the good news.

"How are we feeling, Master Tigress?" he asked curiously, holding his doctor bag in one hand and a baby bottle in the other.

"Exhausted," the master replied simply, leaning back against her pillow with a tired look on her face. "But I'll live."

The doctor laughed. "I'm surprised Po lived," he joked.

"Um, can we make fun of that later?" the Dragon Warrior requested, trying to not think about the tiger nearly breaking his collarbone. "Like, fifty years from now?"

"If you'd like...."

The doctor handed Tigress the bottle so that she could nurse the newborn, then turning his attention to Po and asking, "Would you like everyone to come in, or would you rather wait? I know your father's dying to come in."

"I'm sure he is," Po noted, thankful Scorpion wasn't allowed in just in case she tried to embarrass him. "But we'd like Dai to come in first."

The doctor nodded. "I'll send the boy in," he assured him, walking outside and nearly closing the door on his cotton tail.

Tigress glanced up at her husband in slight worry as she simply put the bottle to the side for the present moment. "Do you think he'll be okay?" she asked, clearly thinking about his disturbed behavior for the past few months.

"Once he sees that he's not going anywhere even with a new baby," Po assured her. "He'll be perfectly fine."

The master sighed and let her eyes trail back to the baby, nervously anticipating her adopted son's reaction to his new brother. Po leaned over and gently kissed her cheek, saying, "Out of curiosity, do you like the name Douglas? Because dad's been insisting on that even though I said no."

Tigress lightly chuckled. "No thanks," she told him. "Anything but that. That and Quing. We're not naming him that either."

The door squeaked open again and the doctor came back in the room with little Dai quietly trailing behind him.

"I'll leave you four be for a bit," the doctor said, stepping out of the room to hold Po's dads at bay. Dai just stood in place looking down at his feet.

"Dai, do you want to see your brother?" Tigress asked him nervously.

Dai shrugged and said nothing. Po smiled and walked over to him. "Come on," he said, picking up the seven year old crocodile. "I promise he won't bite. Or scratch. He just fell asleep."

"Po!" Tigress scolded.

"Well, he did scratch my nose in the vision I had. Of course, he was also a little bigger than this, but that's not the point."

The Dragon Warrior carried the child over to Tigress where he proceeded to sit him down besides her. Dai, still remaining silent, glanced over at the small bundle his adopted mom held carefully in her arms.

"Dai, do you want to hold him?" Tigress asked gently.

"Won't he die?" the child asked quietly, finally speaking up.

"Of course he won't," Po assured him. "Who told you that?!"

"Mr. and Mrs. Ting. They said that new babies couldn't be held by younger kids or else they'd get decapaded."

Tigress rolled her eyes at the mention of the couple. "They lied," she assured Dai. "They probably just didn't want you to hold her."

"Oh...."

"Do you want to hold your brother?"

Dai hesitated. "I...guess...." he answered slowly.

The master slowly handed the crocodile the tiny white and black cub, placing  him carefully in the child's arms so that he was held correctly. Dai stared down at the fuzzy bundle, not saying anything. Tigress and Po simply watched on with a look of hope and worry, unsure of how Dai would handle everything.

"Does he have a name?" the seven year old asked.

"We thought maybe you'd want to help pick it out," Po told him with a smile.

Dai turned to look at him, confusion plastered across his face. "You...want me to pick his name?" he asked in total shock.

"Of course we do. You are a part of this family. You can help suggest names for him if you want."

The child turned back to look at his brother, tears beginning to fall down his face. Seeing it, Tigress worriedly asked, "Dai, what's wrong?"

Dai started to sniffle, his voice choking as he said, "I thought you were going to give me back."

Tigress scooped him into a hug, Po quickly taking the new baby for a moment.

"Dai," the master assured the child, tightly squeezing him. "We are never going to give you back to that orphanage. You're going to stay right here with us for as long as you like."

Dai sniffled, a very small sob escaping him. "You promise?" he whimpered almost inaudibly.

"I promise."

The master held him tightly and gently rocked him back and forth, watching Dai's tears slowly dry up. She then kissed him on top of his head, wiping the sticky wetness off his face. The door opened again and the doctor appeared in with a look of concern. "Now can everyone come in?" he asked, almost as if about ready to beg.

"Almost," Po assured him.

"Okay, well please make it snappy. There are several people in the hallway about ready to form a mob and come in anyway."

"Just a few more minutes," Tigress promised him.

The doctor nodded and quickly darted out of  the room to keep the anticipating masters at bay.

"So, what are we naming him?" Po piped up. "And we'd better make it fast before dad comes rushing in. Probably with Scorpion. And dad."

Tigress gently chuckled as the panda sat by her and Dai, giving them a better look at the new baby. "What were you thinking?" she asked him.

"I was thinking we could name him Feng. Dad...Li...suggested Li jr., but I think that'd be too complicated, so maybe we should pass on that one."

"I agree. But Feng is nice. Anything else?"

"Tian," Dai piped up quietly.

"Hey, that's a good one," Po told him. "It fits him nicely."

"What about Lao?" Tigress offered.

"That's a nice one too. And I think Monkey suggested Yui."

A smirk crept onto Tigress face. "Would you consider the name Lotus?" she asked.

Po gave her a weird look. "Isn't that a girl's name?" he questioned.

"Mei-Ling told me it's a unisex name. I wasn't for it, but I didn't tell her that."

Dai giggled. "That's funny," he said.

"Yeah, lets pass on that one," Po said. "He might get picked on for having that name."

"Crane suggested Chin."

"Uh, no thanks."

"Usrion?" Dai piped up.

"Um...it's cute...Don't know if it'll match him though. How about Rez?"

"We're not naming him Rez," Tigress scolded firmly. "That's even worse than Douglas."

After nearly fifteen minutes had gone by, the doctor came outside where everyone was waiting to come and see the new baby. Mr. Ping, who was busy pacing around to pass the time, spun around, ready to dash inside. "How are they?" he asked immediately. "Can we see them now?"

"Yes, you can come in n-AHHH!"

The rabbit dodged out of the way as Mr. Ping, soon followed by Li, came barreling past him and into the barracks to see the new baby. The others who were patiently waiting behind them, slowly walked in next, Scorpion stopping to give the anxious doctor a cup of tea.

"Stressful night, huh," she said reassuringly. "I know the feeling."

The doctor nodded and took the tea, heading outside to avoid contending with the mob of masters for a moment.

Mr. Ping, being the first one to run into the barracks, made a bee-line to Po and Tigress' room, where he carefully opened the door.

"Hey, dad," Po called over with a smile.

"Well it's about time we were let in! What took so long?"

"We were just picking out names," Tigress told him, still cuddling Dai.

"Oh. Well, now that you've finished, can I see my new grandson, please?"

Po walked over and handed him the baby, saying, "Dad, this is Feng-Mu."

Li stood over Mr. Ping in an effort to see the new baby, Mr. Ping letting an, "Awww...he's so cute!! I wonder what else he got from the two of you."

"Not Po's appetite, hopefully," Tigress commented from her bed. "Then we'd run out of food faster than we already do."

"He at least better have natural cooking skills," Ping commented. "Otherwise he'll feel left out whenever Dai and I cook."

The old goose handed the tiny hybrid over to Li who proceeded to begin scratching the cub behind the ears. "I'm so glad you went into labor today rather than tomorrow," the panda commented to Tigress. "Otherwise I would have had to wait almost two or three months to see him."

"You still leaving tomorrow?" Po asked curiously.

"Well, I can wait another week or so. Just to get to know the little guy."

"Does that mean we have more time to play?" Dai asked hopefully, perking up.

"Sure. Old gramps has plenty of energy to play with you, Dai."

"Yay!"

Everyone else soon came into the room where they were soon introduced to little Feng-Mu. The baby proceeded to sleep throughout the whole 'being-passed-around' that went on, relieving Tigress since he had spent the first twenty minutes of his life crying non-stop.

"Here's hoping he'll sleep through the night," Po said hopefully as Master Shifu, the last person to hold the baby, handed him back to the Dragon Warrior.

"Don't count on it," the grandmaster told him. "If you're waiting for him to sleep through the night, wait until he's at least three months."

"Three months?!" Li exclaimed. "Three? Infants don't sleep through the night until at least six or seven months!"

"Having raised an infant before, Mr. Shan," Shifu informed him flatly. "I can tell you that, through personal experience, three months is the earliest."

"Have you had kids before?"

"Raised kids? Yes, two of them. Had kids? No."

Tigress smirked as she watched a look of confusion form across Li's face, but she didn't observe it long as she let out a tired yawn. Seeing this, Po said, "Um...hey, I know everyone's excited about meeting Feng-Mu, but Tigress is kind of tired, so maybe we can do the making faces at the baby thing in the morning."

"Sounds like a good plan," Shifu said. Turning to the others, he added, "Alright, everyone out. Lets allow them to get some sleep."

"Can't I hold him one more time?" Mr. Ping asked as he was shoveled out the door.

"In the morning, dad," Po promised.

The door shut and everyone soon dispersed to go to sleep. Po laid the still sleeping Feng-Mu down in his crib and looked over at Dai who was beginning to fall asleep.

"I'll put Dai to bed," he offered, picking up the little crocodile.

"Thanks, Po," Tigress said, snuggling into her bed in exhaustion. "Now here's hoping neither of  them wake us up within an hour or so."

Po chuckled nervously. "Yeah, same," he told her.

The Dragon Warrior gave his wife a gentle kiss on the forehead. "Good night, Tigress."

"Good night, Po," the master replied sleepily, laying her head down on the pillow and falling asleep at long last.

Po smiled and walked out of the room for a moment to place Dai in bed. He then walked back inside and settled into bed as well, blowing out the light from the lantern and falling asleep besides Tigress.
