5. Suspects
They drove the way to the rented house. Beep! rang the bell. The doorhandle rotated and a woman flung open the door.
"You must be Mrs Sara?" questioned Isla.
"Yes," she answered.
"Is Mr Peter Alborough here?" asked David.
"Nope, he's at the church," she said.
"How was he dressed?" interrogated Isla.
"He wore a British Warm along with a blue hat.
"Thanks, Madame," said David turning away, making the way to the church along with Isla.
Bong! the tintinnabulation of the church bell echoed. David and Isla walked in, each and every step reverberating the hall.
The pews were jam-packed with people, chanting the hymn of Sunday. They occupied a little place in the last seat. A short time after, the chant ended and the people went out. David barely was going to miss him out of this crowd, but he lastly stopped him with the coat and hat.
All the others left soon and the hall was empty.
"Take a seat," said David to Peter, "Have you dropped Tom Thorne, the dead founded man in the boat the other night?"
"Yes," he answered, low-voiced, "I was forced. He took out a gun... and said to conduct him to the lighthouse and even... not to glance back."
"And why didn't you inform the police before?" demanded Isla.
"I was scared to be a suspect," he said, gulping his saliva.
"Well... you'll need to come to the investigation room to describe more in detail," said David, going away, the footsteps resounding again along with Isla's.
...
It was snowing, showers of snows pouring down to the ground. It was already nightfall. David and Isla drove to the shop. The shop window was steamed-up. As Isla opened the door, flurries of snowflakes penetrated inside along with the doorbell ringing. They stepped in, spotting the shopkeeper standing, tranquillity. There was no client until then. They advanced to him. He was about 40-years-old with carbon-black hair and a light beard.
"What can I do for you," he asked.
"We've spotted Tom Thorne, the dead founded man in the boat entering your shop," repeated David again.
At hearing this, they could read an aghastness going on his heart, palpitating heavy. He took a deep breath and sighed dejectedly.
"He came to me... just to buy a box of cigarette." he declared, grimacing grotesquely.
"Are you sure?" queried David.
"Yes." the shopkeeper said, meaningly.
"So... you'll clear out the thing more in detail." said David, "At the investigation room, tomorrow."
