Your Pov,
Loen and Lyra's wedding went by pretty well and now, Lyra was officially part of our (L/n) family and is truly my sister. I couldn't be any happier for the two of them as I watched them stood at the altar and shared their vows. After the wedding was over, I congratulated the two of them for their marriage and wished them a happy life full of love.
The wedding finished right around noon and now, we were back at our mansion, holding a wedding reception for the newlywed couple. I watched Loen and Lyra thanked and hosted the guests while I stuck by Granny Eliza's side and stayed with her and little Gaelan after greeting my distant relatives and some of my father's guests whose names I can't remember though I know their faces. The Duke and the Duchess invited me to join their table and I gladly accepted as the five of us sat at a table together and had a wonderful time chatting with each other through the meal until the music started, signaling that it was time for the dance. We decided to change the tradition a little and decided to let everyone dance together since Lyra and her parents agreed that it was better like that.
Loen and Lyra were the first to step onto the dance floor followed by Mr. And Mrs. Evans before the other couples started to join in as well. I smiled, watching them starting to dance along with the music, a part of me wishing how nice it would've been even more if Edward was here with us. I didn't really like to dance with the others after they gave me that silly title. But lucky for me, my little Gaelan was there to save me today. "(Y/n). (Y/n), will you dance with me please?" he asked, looking at me with his adorable violet eyes that I can never say no to. I giggled softly, taking his hand in mine. "Of course!"
Gaelan and I politely excused ourselves and started heading towards the dance floor together hand in hand. And soon, we've joined the others, dancing along with the music as Gaelan and I joked around with each other, enjoying the dance until the first song was over. Gaelan and I then headed back to our table for the desserts, but just as I was about to sit down, a familiar voice spoke from beside me, making me stop, "May I have this dance, my lady?"
I turned to see Nicholas standing there beside me with a warm smile while having his hand offered towards me. "Uh, I-"
"We're about to have dessert together," Gaelan said bluntly, looking at Nicholas wryly and his expression told me that he didn't really like Nicholas. I was about to say no to Nicholas who was waiting patiently for my answer, but it seemed that Granny and the Duchess had a different idea. "Oh, don't be like that, dear. (Y/n) will be with you even after the party. It's just one dance. Go ahead and dance, sweetheart. Don't worry about us, we'll be with Gaelan while you're gone," the Duchess said to Gaelan while looking at me with a genuinely warm smile. My eyes widened and I opened my mouth to protest, "But-"
"Margaret is right, you're still young, (Y/n). You should still enjoy a party like this once in a while. Don't worry about us, we'll be here chatting a meal with your granny. After all, it's been a while since the four of us had a meal together since we've been so busy. Go and have some fun, dear," the Duke said with a reassuring smile and I hesitated for a moment. But when I see Granny giving me a nod in agreement with a smile, I forced up a smile and nodded as I politely excused myself and stood up, taking Nicholas's hand hesitantly after giving Gaelan an apologetic smile.
Just one dance, (Y/n).
Nicholas seemed very delighted at my response as he gave the Duke, the Duchess and Granny a quick smile before he started leading me towards the dance floor. "I haven't seen them for a long time ever since that day, but I am glad to see that they're still doing very well. I didn't know you are still close with them to today. You look very happy when you're with them," Nicholas started, taking my right hand in his. His other hand gently rested on my waist while my left hand went to his shoulders as the two of us started dancing along with the music. "We are. They treat me as if I were their own daughter no matter what happened and I consider them as my family too. It doesn't matter what other people says," I replied with a smile, thinking about all the fun times I spent together with the Castillos.
The music changed and we picked up our pace which led me to accidently step onto Nicholas's foot. "Oh, I am sorry!" I apologized, embarrassed as we continued to dance. Nicholas chuckled slightly, holding onto my hand tight. "It's fine. I am not much of a dancer myself either since I am not the type to attend parties like these, so...you know..." Nicholas trailed and I couldn't help, but chuckled at his words. "Is that so? For a man who doesn't attend parties very much, you dance pretty well," I jokingly said, making him laugh. "What can I say? I'll have to try my best to make the ladies fall for me, right? Especially the one in front of me right now," he said, spinning me around and bringing me back to him. My smile dropped for a moment with my mind immediately recalling the fact that this man I am dancing with right now has indeed asked for my hand in marriage.
"And...I hope you're feeling better by the way since you know..." Nicholas trailed and it took me a few seconds to process what he was saying before it hit me. "Oh, you mean what happened in the morning. Yes, I am feeling better. Thank you for asking and... thank you for the rose. I appreciate it," I said with a smile and Nicholas blushed slightly as he cleared his throat before he smiled once again. "I-I am glad you like it. And I-I am not sure if Mr. (L/n) has already told you or not, but I...asked for your hand yesterday," he said and I flinched slightly, bringing my feet to a halt from dancing.
Why is he bringing up that right now?
"I-Is that so?" I said, trying not to frown as I calmed myself down. "I-I know it's probably too fast of me to do that, but I've always fancied you ever since we met five years ago and I know you've turned down everyone who's ever chased you, but...I hope I can get just one chance. And that's all I am going to ask, (Y-Y/n). It's okay if you don't want to agree to my request yet and get to know to each other first. It's completely fine...but I hope I can get my chance," Nicholas said, holding onto my hands as he looked at me, but all I can think about was how similar Nicholas's words were to Edward's just now.
I took in a deep breath and tried to control my shaky breathing as I opened my mouth to say no, but stopped when my father's words that my marriage can save our family business, "I-I..."
Many emotions were swirling up inside my chest and I started to feel very conflicted, but Nicholas was still waiting for my answer. "C-Could you please give me some time to think about it?" I struggled out and Nicholas seemed surprised for a moment before a smile made its way onto his face. "Of course, you can take all the time you need. I am already glad you didn't reject me on the spot," he said and I forced up a smile, watching him place a kiss on the back of my hand. "I hope I can get the answer I am hoping for," he said and I only smiled before I turned around and started heading right towards the door, wanting nothing more than to be alone right now. I accidently bumped into Nicholas's brother, Raymond, on the way and for a second there he looked quite worried when he saw the expression I had on my face. "A-Are you alright?" he asked, awkwardly and I forced up a smile as I nodded, not wanting to be rude. "Y-Yes, thank you. I am just going out to get some fresh air for a moment. Please excuse me," I said and bid him goodbye as I continued making my way towards the door before Raymond could say anything else.
After I've gotten out, I quietly closed the door behind me and immediately started walking my way towards the stables where I know my beloved mare is waiting for me. Not a moment or two later, the stables came into my view. And I soon reached to where (H/n) was kept and the beautiful black mare of mine let out a happy neigh when she saw me walking up to her. I chuckled, stroking her head gently. "It's good to see you too, (H/n)."
(H/n) nuzzle into my face, making me giggle.
"I missed you too, girl," I said and then, the saddle on her back caught my attention and I smiled since (H/n) was all ready to go out. No wonder why she looked so excited when she saw me. "It looks like I owe you one, Mr. Harson," I hummed, letting (H/n) out of her stable as the mare let out another happy snort. "Say, (H/n). What do you say we go for a little ride right now?"
