Right before (Y/n) called his name, Edward was still in her room, waiting for her to return soon as he casually floated in the air and listened to any sources of sound he could hear from where he was. When he heard the sounds of footsteps rapidly approaching, Edward knew that it was (Y/n) returning and that, someone was right behind her. So, once he heard (Y/n) calling his name, he immediately made the door open, using a little bit of his temporary phantom powers, a little trick he learned while he was testing out what he could do with the spell still activated.
Once he walked out of the room, Edward immediately turned to look at straight towards where (Y/n) was standing and he felt extremely irritated when he saw a man holding onto her wrist. And he knew (Y/n) wasn't doing anything funny behind his back when he saw how her (e/c) eyes lit up with relief as soon as they landed on him. But the signs of tears on her still wet cheeks fueled the rising anger inside him and Edward darted his attention back to the man who was holding onto her wrist, pinning him down with a glare as cold as ice.
"Y-You...You are-" the man stammered in fear as he looked at Edward who said nothing and he continued to glare at him. The grip he had on (Y/n)'s wrist loosened and (Y/n) wasted no time in freeing herself from him as she quickly rushed to her husband's side. And as soon as she was within his reach, Edward quickly wrapped a protective arm around her waist and held her close to him while his glare on the man in front of them did not even falter for one second, "What were you doing to my wife?"
"W-Wife? B-But...H-How...Y-You're dead! How can you be married a-and y-you are alive? No, wait...you're a...corpse?" (Y/n) watched Raymond stammered from the corner of her eyes as many expressions crossed his face. Confusion, fear, guilt and something else she couldn't name.
"Hm? Do I know you?" Edward flatly asked and Raymond's eyes widened for a second, seeming even more surprised than he already was by Edward's words. He gulped and took a deep breathe before he met Edward's eyes again, "Y-You don't remember me?" he asked and Edward raised a brow at his words, not really knowing who this man was. Just then, (Y/n) recalled Edward's words of losing some of his memories from one of their conversations back in the Land of the Dead.
"I remember most of our memories together because you're all I can think about after I was dead, but I can't seem to remember some of my memories and some people no matter how I tried...And as ironic as it is, I can't remember who stabbed me that day or what happened after I was stabbed either."
'Could it be that Edward didn't remember who Raymond was?' (Y/n) silently wondered in her mind before she gently tugged on Edward's shirt, making his gaze softened as he instantly turned his attention back to her. "Edward, I-I think he used to be one of your comrades back in the knight troupe," she informed and Edward's eyes flickered for a moment at her words as he glanced back at the man in front of him for a second while he continued to listen to (Y/n) whisper, "His name is Raymond. Do you...remember him?"
Edward stared at Raymond who remained silent looking at him while being rooted in his spot for a while before he answered her question, "No, I don't." His blue eyes went back to cold again after he said that and looked back at Raymond who flinched under his gaze with a questioning glare. Just then, Lyra and Loen arrived calling (Y/n)'s name, but the couple stopped dead in their tracks once they saw who (Y/n) was standing with, Edward.
Their eyes widened with shock, unable to believe what they were seeing right now. And it finally dawned upon them that (Y/n) was indeed telling them the truth and that Edward was still alive as a corpse. "Y-You...Edward, you really are still alive a-as a..." Loen trailed, feeling quite shocked to finish his sentence, but Lyra finished it for him while still being in a shocked state, herself, "A-a corpse."
(Y/n) started to feel saddened once again as she looked at her brother and her now sister in law. She was really leaving them now, "Loen, Lyra..." she mumbled their names underneath her breathe, but Edward still heard her. His eyes flicked once again, slowly taking in their appearances as he looked at the two and tried to recall some of the memories he lost. He started to remember some memories, but they were still a bit blurry to him. "Edward, c-can we go back now, please?" he heard (Y/n) asked him in a small voice and looked down to see her looking away from the three in front of them as she hid her face in his chest. Edward couldn't see her face, but he could tell from the way her voice cracked a little and how she was avoiding eye contact right now that she was holding her tears back and that things didn't go well like they wished it to be. And just like that, all he could think about was granting her wish to take her away from here. "Of course, love," He whispered, wrapping an arm around (Y/n)'s waist and held her close to him before he glanced back at the three who were still in shock and said the word, "Hopscotch."
Once he said that, thunder crackled in the sky once again and the window behind them slammed opened, revealing a flock of crows from nowhere flying at outside along with the wind that came rushing in. And it made Loen to finally snap out of his gaze as he reached out towards his sister and Edward, "No. Wait, please!" But it was too late as the crows came in through the window and started flying swiftly around both Edward and (Y/n) in circles, blocking the two from their sights until they started to fade away. (Y/n) glanced at her brother and her sister in law sadly one last time before darkness completely consumed her vision once again and the last thing she heard was them calling her name desperately as she and Edward disappeared out of their sights, "(Y/n)!!"

Back in the Land of the Dead, Elder Gutknecht was just placing some of the books back onto the shelves when he heard the sound of Edward and (Y/n) groaning, signaling that they are starting to wake up from using the spell. Wolfie who was waiting for the two to wake up soon barked happily, waving his little bony cat tail. Edward was the first to open his eyes as he groaned and sat up, quickly gathering his thoughts before he shifted his attention to (Y/n) who was groaning from the dizziness she was feeling in her head. "(Y/n), love, are you alright?" Edward asked, gently lifting her into his arms as he looked down at her worriedly. Sensing the worried tone in his voice, (Y/n) managed to open her eyes and gave him a weak smile, "I am fine, I'm just...feeling a little dizzy."
"I would be surprised if you weren't, my child. You are still alive after all. A spell like that will surely exhaust you after using it," they heard Elder Gutknecht said and turned to see him walking up towards them. "Elder Gutknecht..."
"You'll be fine after getting some rest, child. Did you manage to get their blessings?" The old skeleton asked and a sad frown made its way back onto (Y/n)'s face which was then replaced by a sad smile as she shook her head, "I'm afraid not, but that's not going to stop us from getting married anyway," she said and for a moment, Edward was quite taken back by her words. He'd expected that their parents would surely object their marriage, but he never expected that (Y/n)'d still be willing to marry him even so after what just happened. Elder Gutknecht nodded his head in acknowledgement and Wolfie who's been standing by their side let out bark, drawing their attention.
"Wolfie?" (Y/n) mumbled, shifting her eyes to look at their little skeleton cat who continued to bark. "Wolfie's right, my dear boy. She needs rest," Elder Gutknecht said, understanding the little skeleton's words and Edward nodded as he lifted (Y/n) into his arms and said a quick goodbye to Elder Gutknecht who nodded back in return before he started carrying her away with Wolfie following them close behind.

Edward entered the makeshift room he's asked one of the corpse staffs from the bar to prepare as he carried (Y/n) who has fallen asleep in his arms inside. Though it was makeshift and covered with a thin layer of dust in some places, the room was big enough for the two of them and had some old furniture they could still use inside.
Edward made a mental note in his mind to thank the staffs who prepared this room for him and (Y/n) later and to clean up the place a little bit, so he could make (Y/n) feel more comfortable staying here. He gently laid her down on the king-sized coffin bed while being careful not to wake her up and watched her groan softly in her slumber as she continued to sleep peacefully. Edward couldn't help but smiled fondly as he gently pulled a blanket over her shoulders and pressed a soft kiss on her forehead which made (Y/n) smiled in her sleep.
Wolfie let out a little whine and Edward silently shushed him by holding a finger up as he signaled Wolfie to sit before he turned his attention back to (Y/n) and continued to watch her sleep in his own thoughts. After a few seconds later, a soft sigh quietly escaped from his mouth and a bitter smile made its way onto his handsome face as he watched her sleep. "I'm being incredibly selfish wanting her to stay with me forever like this, aren't I?" he mumbled, gently reaching out to tuck a few strands of her hair away behind her ear which (Y/n) felt it in her sleep as she groaned softly once again and sleepily opened her eyes. And she smiled warmly, when she saw Edward sitting on the bed by her side.
"Mmm, did I fall asleep?" she asked drowsily, still half-asleep as she gently put Edward's hand on her cheek before putting her hand over it. Edward chuckled and cupped her cheek tenderly, looking at her with nothing but adoration and love in his eyes. "Yea, but you can go back to sleep, love. I'm sure you must be tired after a long day like this," he said and (Y/n) hummed in response, closing her eyes once more to go back to sleep. Edward smiled and gently continued to cup her cheek for a few more seconds, but just as he was about to pull his hand away, he paused and did a double take when he noticed something that was on her wrist. When he realized what it was, his smile dropped and Edward slowly took her hand into his, gently lifting it up towards him a little to take a closer look at her wrist. Anger flashed through Edward's eyes and a frown settled on his face when he saw that there was indeed a faint bruise mark around her small wrist.
"That arsehole..." he muttered darkly underneath his breathe, instantly figuring out who the culprit was. (Y/n) moaned softy as she sleepily squinted her eyes and looked at her beloved who was holding her wrist, unaware of the frown that was plastered on his face. "Mm. Love, what's wrong?" she asked wearily, stifling a yawn with her other hand as she forced her eyes to open and tried to stay awake for a while, noticing that there was something bothering him.
Edward's eyes softened back at the way she called him and he felt himself starting to calm down again, making him let out a frustrated sigh as he gently pressed a lingering kiss on the inside of her wrist. "Making you cry and leaving a bruise like this...he must be really eager to see the Land of the dead," Edward said and (Y/n) blinked her eyes in confusion before she noticed the faint bruise around her wrist, finally getting what he was saying.
"Oh, it's just a small bruise. It will go away eventually, but...I do need one thing though," she said as she gently pulled her hand away from Edward and waved her hand slightly to show that she was fine. "What's it?" Edward asked, watching (Y/n) with a smile as she playfully held out her hands towards him, "Cuddle with me."
Edward couldn't help but chuckled once again at her adorable request that was not a question. "How can I say no?" he said and the (h/c) haired girl smiled gleefully as she watched her husband went over to the other side of the bed and soon joined her. Edward laid down beside (Y/n) and laughed heartily when she snuggled up to his side and wrapped her arms around him. He smiled and let her rest her head on his chest as she closed her eyes happily once again while he wrapped an arm around her shoulders and gently pulled her closer into his arms. "I missed this," he heard (Y/n) said as the girl sighed happily in his arms which made Edward smiled. "You missed cuddling with me?" he asked and the (h/c) haired girl hummed back in response as she nodded her head eagerly and continued cuddling with him, "Mm hm, very much."
Edward's smile only widened with adoration at her words and he pressed his lips softly against her forehead, "I missed it too. I missed doing everything with you," he said, soothingly rubbing her arm and (Y/n) smiled, snuggling closer into her beloved's chest as she closed her eyes once again to go back into her dreams, "Mm, me too."
Edward smiled down at her warmly with affection, but his smile slowly started to drop back into a frown as he started to think about what she said earlier ago. He was happy that (Y/n) was still willing to stay with him even after what happened, but then again he also felt hesitant that she was leaving everything she loves behind just because of him, especially when he vividly remembers the way she held her tears back when she looked away from Loen and Lyra.
Of course, he wanted to be with her and stay like this with her in his arms forever, it was all he ever wanted. But Edward was making sure that she was really sure and happy with whatever decision she was going to make...even if it means she changes her mind about their marriage and go back to the world above. He didn't want her to feel sad or regret for the rest of her life because of this. It was her happiness that matters the most to him. Edward gently took her hand that was resting on his chest and called her name, "(Y/n)?"
"Mm?"
"Are you really sure you're okay with this?" Edward asked and (Y/n) slowly blinked her eyes open at his words before she looked up to meet his eyes with a hint of confusion in her eyes, "Okay with what?"
"This whole thing I mean, about us."
(Y/n) who was now slowly starting to become wide awake, pulled away from his arms and sat up, looking straight into Edward's eyes. "Wha...What do you mean if I am okay about us? Of course, I am okay with it," she said and Edward smiled weakly as he also sat up, taking her hand back into his as he softly rubbed his thumb over her knuckles. "I know you are, love. But what I am trying to say is..." Edward paused, trying to find the right words to say before he continued. "Are you really sure you're okay with leaving everything behind like this?" he said and before (Y/n) could say anything, he quickly added his next words, "I know how much you love you family and how much they mean to you, princess. And I know you're feeling sad that you are going to have to leave them behind and choose between me and the world above right now. So, what I am saying is...it's not too late to change your mind if you want to-."
Finally, catching up onto what he was about to say, (Y/n) cut him off by pulling her hand away and started shaking her head, "No. No. Not happening." Edward gently grabbed her shoulders and made her look back into his eyes, showing that he was serious right now. "(Y/n), love, please, listen to me. This is important because this is about you. This is your life. I don't want you to feel regret for the rest of your life because of this," he said and a spark of determination appeared in (Y/n)'s eyes as she gently put her hand on his arm and looked straight back into his eyes, "And I'm not regretting anything, Edward."
She moved her hand to cup his face gently. "I'm staying with you and I am not going to change my mind about it," she said, smiling genuinely as she looked into Edward's eyes. He was about to say something, but this time she managed to beat him to it. "I know what you're worried about, Edward, and I am not going to lie. It's true. It's true that I feel sad about leaving father, brother, Lyra and everyone else behind. But...do you know?" she paused for a second, her eyes glistening with tears as she thought about the past and continued cupping Edward's face gently. "Ever since the day I lost you, never a day went by without me thinking of you. I was lost and everything was just not the same anymore...I used to think I understood how it felt like when you lose someone, but I had no idea," (Y/n) paused and smiled bitterly as a few tears escaped from her eyes before she continued, "I had no idea how much it hurts until I lost you."
Edward's eyes widened and he felt his body went frozen when he saw the look on her face. (Y/n) was smiling at him with tears streaming down on her beautiful face and there were so many emotions were swirling through her beautiful (e/c) eyes. There was sadness, love, a little bit of fear and most of all, there was pain. "I missed you. I missed you every day. And all I could of think was to see you just one more time and now that I finally found you, I can't lose you again," More tears escaped from her eyes and her lips quivered as (Y/n) continued to speak, "I lived a life without you once, Edward and it's just...too painful for me. When I think of about going back to that life where you're not there anymore...I can't do it."
Her voice was now barely above the whisper as she gently cupped Edward's face with a smile through her tears, "I can't lose you again."
Edward's hand trembled as he reached up to cup her tears away. He can it in her eyes and can hear it in her voice, the pain and suffering she went through after she lost him.
Ever since he was dead, Edward's never once felt any sort of pain in his body even if he touch the burning flame of a candle. Stab him with a knife again, it was still the same. He was dead after all.
But the way (Y/n) looked right now made that change. With each drop of her tears, he felt like a dagger is being twisted in his heart deeply. The girl looked so broken and so full of pain as she looked at him and for the first time again in forever, he finally remembered how pain felt like.
And all he could think about the next second was to take away all the pain away from her, take all the tears she had cried for him.
"Let me stay with you...Please?" (Y/n) pleaded in a whisper, her breathe hitching as she watched Edward started to lean in towards her lips without tearing his gaze away from her, not even for a second.
"I'll never let you be alone again," Edward whispered and closed the distance between him and (Y/n), his voice being husky with emotions as he captured (Y/n) into a passionate kiss one more while cupping her face with both of his hands to gently wipe her tears away. There was an unspoken promise in his kiss and (Y/n) smiled, melting into his embrace as she slipped her arms around Edward's neck and returned his passionate kiss.
She felt Edward firmly wrap an arm around her waist and let out a muffled squeak in surprise when he suddenly pulled her onto his lap and made her sat there without breaking their kiss which only got more intense. And when he finally parted away from her lips, (Y/n) found herself in a breathless state as she shakily tried to catch her breathe. Her heart pounded wildly in her chest as her eyes met with Edward's ocean blue eyes once again and the two of them stared at each other for a while as if time has just stopped and suddenly, there was just only the two of them right now.
"You're beautiful," Edward suddenly said, causing (Y/n)'s cheeks to redden even more under his affectionate gaze. Then, Edward chuckled bitterly and held her closer to him, burying his face in the crook of her neck as he breathed into her scent. "Damn, princess. How can you still love me even though I am like this now?" (Y/n) heard him murmured and her eyes immediately softened at his question. She smiled and embraced him back, gently letting her fingers went through his hair like she's always done before.
"Silly, it doesn't matter how you look like. No matter what happens and no matter how you've changed, you're still you. You're still the same man I fell in love with and I will always love you," she said and pulled back slightly to look into his eyes with a smile. "And nothing can ever change that," she said, giving Edward a sweet and gentle kiss on his forehead which made him start to smile again. "I love you too, princess. I always have and I always will," he replied, glimpsing up to meet (Y/n)'s eyes again with a very warm smile on his face, "And if such thing as souls being reborn into this world really exists...I swear, I will find you. I will find you and I will do it again there as well."
