Episode 83: Revealing The True Intention
A/N: Hmm.... I don't know whether to write this in 3rd person, or in first person... Meh, I'll go with first... Also, it wasn't said what Kidou and Haruna's last name was so I made it Arata... sorry. Rushe didn't have a last name either, so I decided to make her related to Kouji.

Kidou couldn't believe this, and neither can I? Perfecting Kageyama Tougo's tactics was somehow impossible. "Kidou, I think we should use Convergence with Shirou." I suggested. "There's no use in training it if we're not going to use it." "You're right... the problem is Catennacio Counter. We won't be able to use it if we can't break through." Kidou looked at me. "At this point, we're going to have find a way through."
"I can always run up." I shrugged. "It worked for Team K."
"Yeah, but if it means you using Dark Odin Sword, I suggest you stay in your position." Kidou gave a glare at me. I glared back. "I don't know how I did it, but I can assure you, I won't do it again." I said.
"Guys." Jirou walked up to us. "There's no use in arguing over something like this. Sis, if you can find a way to break through, tell us, K?" He ruffles my hair. "Yeah, I will." I gave a salute.
The match continues with a throw-in from Angelo, who kicked it to Marco, but got stolen by Someoka only for the ball to be stolen by Gianluca. I did a sliding and kicked the ball to Kidou, but Fideo easily past him.
'Wait, how come his plays are like...'
No. Arata's gone, Rena. No use in thinking about him now. Unlike Toshiro, he disappeared without a trace... Back to the game. Fideo did a long shoot. Endou used "Ijigen the Hand", and manages to stop it. My dad makes a switching in players, in which Toramaru subs in for Hiroto. "Toramaru, push your up to the front if you have to." Kidou says. I looked at the other bench and saw that Kageyama was giving out orders for Fideo. I can see why Kidou said that.
Endou kicks the ball and Kidou gets it, but Anton blocks him from passing the ball to Shuuya, and Ottorino blocks Someoka. Shoot, they're faster now, even more faster than the first time they used Catennacio Counter. What did Kageyama say to Fideo anyway? Whatever it was, it's sure working for them right now...
Toramaru runs up ahead, passing them, giving Kidou an opportunity to kick the ball to him. He was running up ahead, but Fideo blocked his path, same with Angelo, Gianluca, and Giorgio, followed by Anton and Ottorino. 'But by doing that they left their marks on Shuuya and Someoka...' I thought. Again, what did Kageyama say to Fideo anyway?
They did Catennacio Counter again, giving Fideo the chance to kick it to Rafaelle and Shirou failing to stop him. He used, "Freeze Shot" again, and Kabeyama and Tobitaka were blocking it (Kabeyama using "The Mountain" and Tobitaka using "Shinkuuma") making the shot weaker, giving Endou the chance to us "Ikari no Tetsui", in which it worked. I sighed in relief...
'There's gotta be a way in breaking that door-bolt tactic... then again... Fideo was like Arata... Hold up, hold up.' My thoughts had suddenly gathered an idea. "Endou, is it fine if I go up? I won't use any dark techniques." I said, looking at Endou. He gave a questioning look at me, then smiled. "I trust you, Rena. I'll let you go up. Have you found a way to break Catennacio Counter?" He asked.
"I think so." I said, smiling back.
The game resumes with Endou's kick to Shirou, who was running forward but was also stopped by Catennacio Counter. After a while, Kidou manages to get past them and kicks the ball to Someoka who used "Dragon Slayer" but was stopped by "Colosseo Guard".
"Guys! Rena found a way to break through the tactics!" Endou exclaimed.
"Finally, you tell us something." Jirou rolls his eyes but he was smiling at me.
"When they're about to steal the ball by using Catennacio Counter, they have to concentrate on their numbers, leaving all other available spaces defenseless." I started. "If we can get past Fideo from the front, it will increase our chances of scoring automatically."
"How is it that you're not related to the goggle man here?" Jousuke asked, pointing at Kidou, who was giving a glare at him.
"It's just logic, I think." I said.
"If that's the case..." Shuuya looked at me. "Then you should be the one able to do it."
"Me?!" I pointed at myself.
"You figured out a way, we're just going to help you." Shuuya pats my back.
"But---" "Don't even think about it." Jirou cuts me off. "You want to be the only girl to represent Japan. By now you have to do something. You can't just hold back any longer."
I smiled at him a little. "Fine. If all else fails, I'll pass it to you."
Once the whistle blew, Gigi threw the ball to Angelo but Kidou intercepts it, kicking it to me. I was running up, but I know they were going to do Catennacio Counter, but despite me knowing that, Fideo got the ball from me anyway. I don't get it. One minute he's like Arata, the next minute it's Kidou... 'Don't tell me that Arata and Kidou are the same person...'
We ended up with Orpheus in the lead. Akio subbed for Someoka. What's my dad up to? "I have a message from... Him. He wants Rena to bring it in."
"I already failed the first time, Fudou." I said.
"I noticed that you were giving looks at him." Akio eyed me. "Like he reminded of you of two people. One that's gone, and one that's standing right with you." He saw what happened. "Let Kidou do it. Fideo can predict everything he does, so it's easier for Kidou to predict everything Fideo does." I said.
"Rena, you should." I look at Kidou.
"Yeah. I wanna see your style in playing." Toramaru smiles. "Akira-nee said that you were better than before."
I sighed in defeat. "If all else fails, Kidou's doing it."
We got back in our positions, Endou throwing the ball to me as I ran forward. Of course, the did Catennacio Counter. Let's just hope I'm right if Arata and Kidou are the same person. After trials, I got past Fideo, breaking Catennacio Counter, and passing the ball to Shuuya and Toramaru. They used "Tiger Storm" and "Colosseo Guard" was broken. In result, we tied with Italy. "That was awesome! You broke Catennacio Counter like it was another tactic!" Endou exclaimed. I was right... Kidou Yuuto is...
"Yeah, I guess logic can help." I said, forcing out a laugh.
The whistle blew, ending the first half. We walked back to the benches. "Sasugoi, mama, papa! Ganbare yo!" Kouji exclaimed, handing our water bottles. "Arigato, Kouji." Akio ruffled his hair. "Taking down Catennacio Counter to even the score is our biggest achievement above all." Kazemaru said. "If we keep up this pace in the second half, we'll definitely win!" Hiroto said.
"That's gonna be hard, ya know?" We looked at Clara. "I mean, those tactics were at a high level and they managed to complete it during this match. They have hidden abilities."
"Also," My dad looked at me. "How did you manage to break their tactics?"
I stared at my dad. "Fideo's play style reminded me of Kidou." I said bluntly, which made everyone (except Kidou and Akio) give a shocked expression at me. 'But this proves that Arata Yuuto and Kidou Yuuto are the same person...'
"OK," My dad clapped his hands to gain our attention. "We have to win this match, remember that. Rena, Kidou, Fubuki, use Convergence once you get an opening. If they use Catennacio Counter again, let Kidou go up. At all costs, if Rafaelle uses Freeze Shot again, I'm counting on the defenders to weaken the shot, and for Endou to stop it."
I saw that Clara looked at the scoreboard. "We need to get ahead of them."
"And we will, Suzuno-san." Endou said. "We'll win this match and proceed to the finals!"
Clara's monotone expression changed into a small, closed-eye smile. "I can see why Hiroto was attracted to you during the Aliea period; Your eyes and persistence really hits a soft spot on someone." She said.
I looked around. "Where'd Kouji go?" Wasn't he here a few seconds ago?
"He went to the restroom. I would've gone with him, but he said he wanted to go alone..." Rosa glanced at the path which led to the restroom. "Though, it's been more than five minutes already." "I'll go and find him." I said. "Hold up guys," I looked at them before going to the locker rooms.
Once I got in there I went to the restrooms, but no sign of Kouji. I had to be quick in this. I don't want a guy thinking that I went in here to spy on someone. I checked all the stalls, but still no sign of him... shoot. If Trina and or Kuroi harmed him, I swear to God I will hurt---
"Mama!"
I turned to see a little blonde girl, wearing a grey jacket, cream colored shirt, and an orange skirt, running up to me. "Sorry, kid. But I'm looking for Kouji. Have you seen him?" I asked, kneeling down to her level. "Onii-chan?" The little girl tilts her head a little. Kouji has a little sibling? "Rushe, I told you not to run off like that. Nakata-san's going to kill me if I don't bring you--- oh, hey identical mom." A boy with short, blonde hair and brown eyes, wearing an orange shirt, covered by a blue jacket. "Who the hell are you?" I asked. "I'm Luca." He introduced. "I assume you know Kouji." "Yeah, where is he?" I asked.
"Onii-chan's with Nakata-nii-san." Rushe said, smiling. "They're at the benches." I mentally face palmed. Wait, why would Kouji go with him... unless... "Wait, Rushe, are you Kouji's little sister?" I asked. "Yep! Muramasa Rushe is my name, nee-chan!" "Her vision's clear now." Luca says, I turn to him. "What do you mean? What happened?" I asked again. "Oh, she accidentally got caught in an accident Kageyama caused," Luca started, and I widened my eyes. "Don't be alarmed. Kageyama sent money for her surgery." Luca said, grinning.
Kageyama? Him? Helping a little kid? I get that he sees the light now but this? This is way weird... "The first thing I wanted to see was mister playing soccer, then seeing my onii-chan, then mama and papa." I look at Rushe. "I know that mama and papa are gone but..." She looks down, then she looks at Luca, smiling. "I'm fine with nee-chan being my mama." "If that's what you want, Rushe." Luca ruffles her hair.
I smiled. "You go and find Kouji first, OK? I'll follow you later."
"Come on, Rushe." "Hai!" Rushe follows him and takes his hand. As for me, I went back to where the others were. "Sorry, Rena! I didn't know that Kouji was at Orpheus' side!" Rosa said worriedly. Before I could run to their side, Akio stopped me. "Aki---" "Not now." He says. His grip on my shoulder tightens. Was he, worried too?
"Nakata, what is the meaning of this?" I turned over to Kageyama, who was looking angrily who I assume was Nakata. "How could you bring Rushe here?" "I beg your pardon, Mr. K, but this was Rushe's wish." Nakata said. "When her eyesight came back, the first thing she wanted to see was your soccer." His soccer? As in, Kageyama's current soccer? "But why here of all places?" Kageyama asked, his tone of anger turning into worry.
"Because this is your last." Nakata said grimly. Last? Last what? "Today is the last day anyone can see your matches ever again." What did Nakata mean by that? "While I was watching the first half, I understood. You're not the person you once were. After today, you intend to confess to everything that you've done and give yourself in." So... Kageyama was turning himself in... wait.
"We got my grandfather and Kageyama to do that!"
"He's just your step grandfather, Trina. "But then again... He is useful."
"But after we, how you say, 'dispose' of them... What should we do then?"
Oh no. After this, something's going to happen, and Trina's plot is written all over it.
"You once used whatever dirty methods it took to avenge your hate for soccer. You stole the chances of many people and players who fell for your traps, and two siblings got hurt when they accidentally got involved in one of your schemes, even though they had nothing to do with soccer." Was Nakata talking about Kouji and Rushe? "Seeing that must've troubled you somewhere inside your heart. That's why you let Kouji stay with Inazuma Japan, and you'd often visit Rushe in the hospital." So... by accident, Kouji was with Trina... intentionally, Kouji was staying with us... "And then you heard the illness of Rushe's eyes, and that it would take a large sum of money for her to receive the operation."
I saw Kouji look at Kageyama with worry and sympathy at Kageyama, and Nakata was looking at Kouji. "You also heard about Kouji running away from the orphanage, looking for his little sister. When you found him unconscious, you left him at the Inazuma Japan doorstep, but somehow he didn't. Even when that failed, you cancelled Gina's call for 911 and personally sent Kouji a personal ambulance." He did that for Rushe and Kouji? "And even when after Rushe's wounds healed, you still continued to send her letters. Along with payment for the hospital bills."
"Mr, why did you do that for us?" Kouji asked. He must've read Nakata's mind because Kageyama turned away from them. "It was just a whim." He said. "A whim? But, didn't it make you feel lighter? Like something in your heart was saved?" Kouji asked again. "Your heart was trying to break itself out of the darkness... like my real mama..." He looked down. Kouji's real mom had the same thing? "Were you travelling around this whole time just to investigate that?" Kageyama asked. "I found out by accident during my travels." Nakata replied. Everyone was looking at the three of them with sympathy and regret in their eyes. Akio's grip on my shoulder loosened, and his hand went to mine.
"Mister?"
Rushe walked up to Kageyama, and he turned to her. "Rushe." "That voice... I knew it was you!" She said happily. "Can you see now?" Kageyama asked. "Yes! It's all thanks to you my eyes are healed! And I found onii-chan, and mama, and papa!" "I see, that's good news."
"Mister, thank you!" Rushe was about to walk towards him, but Kageyama held up a hand, signaling her to stop. "Rushe, I'm not someone who deserves your gratitude." "That's not true!" Kouji butts in, holding Rushe's hand. "You let her take the surgery, you encouraged her with your letters, you helped us find a family..." Kouji turns to us, smiling. Akio's hand was entwined with mine, and all I just did was smile. "Mister, thank you," Rushe starts. "I'll learn more about soccer so I can have lots more to talk about with you, along with onii-chan!" She exclaims.
There was silence for a minute, then we heard cheers from the crowd again. "I have a game to finish." Kageyama says. "We'll talk later." "OK! I'll be cheering for you!" Rushe exclaims again. "Luca-nii-chan, can I stay with onii-chan?" She looks at Luca, who looks at Nakata. "Let her be, Luca." Nakata says. "Besides, she belongs with her family anyway." He chuckles. "You heard him, Rushe. You can stay with your brother." Luca ruffles her hair again. "Come on, Rushe! Mama and papa are starting the game!"
"The game's starting so... you both can let go now." Clara says. Me and Akio let go of each other's hands, looking away. "S-Sorry, Rena." He says, already walking ahead of me. "R-Right." I kept a calm look on my face. "Ganbare, mama, papa!" Rushe cheers from the benches.
Let's win this!
[Bonus: A Helpless Butterfly (Side Kiku)]
Kiku definitely needed to stop sleeping due to the nightmares about Maria... That day, Kuro really messed up. Kiku already had the place, the confidence, the right words to say, and most importantly, the ring. Everything was already in place, but Kuro ruined it. Why were they born with this ability, it was a mystery they'll never know about.
Kiku and Kuro were inseparable, before Kiku had gotten a significant other. He didn't know that Kuro had grown feelings for Maria, and he didn't know Maria had an unstable alter-go named Marin. After Maria's funeral, Kiku wanted to kill Kuro for killing the love of his life, but he just couldn't. Kiku could be afford to lose a brother. He already lost enough.
Kiku was already in his mid-thirties, along with his brother. During those years, Kuro had joined in something evil, and Kiku couldn't stop him. He thought that Kuro was going to take a break from all this. What's worse, Kuro's target was Sakuma Rena, daughter of Sakuma Okita, his old teammate.
When Kiku agreed to help Nami, he realizes that was a terrible decision, but it'll be worth it once Kuro was stopped. Nami told everything about Sakuma Rena, and Kiku instantly became worried; A girl who still had replacement problems meant that her alter-ego was becoming unstable. If Kuro lays his hands on it, all hell will break loose.
"This is it, Kiku." He said to himself, gripping the white gloves in his hand. "I'll stop Kuro, once and for all..."
He wears the gloves on his hands. "Even if it costs me my life."
