"I don't know if I can do this..."
Marinette glanced up, her heart sinking at the sound of Chloe's voice.
It had already proven to be a somber day the moment she learned Adrien had to work overtime. Had it not been for Tikki, Marinette would have lost her marbles. There was no way she could spend another night in that huge house alone for many hours on end.
Despite that, Marinette was more than happy to accommodate Chloe while she checked into rehab for four weeks.
"You can do it." Marinette reassured with a small smile. "Just remember, when you come out we all will be here waiting for you. We all want to see a more healthier and better you."
Chloe sighed, pressing her lips together soon after. She knew Marinette was right and she definitely knew that it had to be done. She couldn't afford to tarnish anymore relationships and put herself at risk for this addiction.
The fear of Felix holding this over her head only made her heart beat faster than she could breathe. It was now or never. Chloe knew that if she didn't do this, her addiction could kill her.
Despite her mom being cruel to her, she wanted to live a long life. She made new friends that gave the enjoyment back into her life. She wasn't ready to give that up yet.
Chloe leaned down, gripping on to her suitcase of clothes with a grimace.
"Okay..." she breathed, her heart causing her voice to tremble. "I can do this." Chloe murmured, turning to face Marinette with a weak smile. "I'll see you in four weeks."
Marinette nodded, opening her arms to swath Chloe into a warm hug. "You're gonna do great. If you need more time just make sure you take it. I promise we'll be here for how ever long it takes."
Chloe closed her eyes, holding onto Marinette and never wanting to let go. She was scared. She was in fact terrified.
To be in a new place, with a ton of people and doctors she didn't know. She knew she would miss being home with her friends the most, but she also knew this had to be done.
Chloe hesitated as she pulled away. She glanced at Marinette one last time. A slow wave was given and before anyone knew it, she had gone.
Marinette watched the door, a warm smile on her lips as the moment was bittersweet.
All that mattered was that Chloe was safe and getting help. All that was left now was to pick up the pieces and start life anew from there.
Marinette sighed, turning away before she began to walk down the narrow road with a grimace. Now all she had to do was worry about returning to an empty house with her cat.

Marinette yawned, rubbing her eyes as she wondered about the time. She couldn't wait until Adrien came home. She had been cuddling with him for awhile and now it felt weird to sleep without him.
It was hard for her to eat or sleep knowing that Adrien was working. She was sure he was in good hands when it came to his father and Nathalie, but part of her worried if Adrien was eating enough.
She closed the kitchen slider door behind her and wandered towards the cabinet for the cat food.
Marinette glanced around, looking for the cat with a furrowed brow. She usually came running the moment she heard the crinkle of the bag.
The entire room was dark, and Marinette had only planned to spend a couple minutes in the kitchen to fill Tikki's food bowl.
Marinette pressed her lips together as she bent over to fill the bowl. Another yawn made it's way out of her throat and Marinette hummed as sleepy tears began to pool at the edges of her eyes.
"Dinner is ready sneaky cat!" Marinette called to her kitty. "Hurry up before it goes stale." She giggled.
Marinette grunted as she stood up. She wandered back to the cabinets and placed the bag back into the cabinets where they usually kept the kitty kibbles.
Marinette pursed her lips, wondering if Adrien remembered to bring his key. She didn't want to fall asleep and have Adrien climb his way toward the balcony to get in. She remembered they left a spare key under a rock in the garden, but she didnt want to confuse Adrien to be a burglar again.
She bit her lip, reaching into her pocket to grab her phone but paused the moment she noticed a shadow standing by the kitchen island.
"You just had to steal everything from me."
Marinette froze at the voice. Her scalp immediately went cold and her heart sunk into the acid of her stomach. She knew that voice all too well. Marinette gripped on to the counter, shaking as she turned over to face Kagami dressed in black.
She couldn't find the words to speak.
Granted, Kagami had been in her home a couple of times before, but never uninvited.
"W-What are you doing here...?" Marinette questioned, her heart racing within the confines of her chest. "I thought you moved out of Paris."
Kagami chuckled, the reflection of an object glistening from her hands.
"Is that what Adrien told you?" She asked, her voice sharper than a blade. "It seemed as though he couldn't wait to get rid of me so that you could squeeze yourself into the picture. You planned this whole thing..."
Marinette widened her eyes, her heart racing erratically the moment she could pinpoint a strange object Kagami held in her hands.
Marinette squinted, attempting to see what it was, but the kitchen was way too dark to make out anything.
"I...I didn't plan anything." She sputtered. "Adrien and I just...happened. We didn't mean for it to come out this way. In fact Adrien really did--"
"Shut up!" Kagami interjected, her eyes locking onto Marinette with the utmost of rage. "I've said from the beginning that I was tired of you. You're nothing but a selfish bitch."
Marinette cringed at her words. She knew Kagami always felt that way about her, but somehow hearing it out loud stung a bit.
"I didn't steal anything from you." Marinette replied timidly, tugging at her shirt nervously. "You cheated on Adrien. You were the one who drew him away." Marinette kept her eyes on the floor as her heart began to hammer away at her ribcage erratically. "T-That had nothing to do with me. I was there for Adrien as a friend and it just turned into something more."
Kagami scoffed, rolling her eyes before glancing at Marinette with a hard expression.
"Did you fuck him?" She asked, her voice quivering as she kept her gaze firm.
Marinette gulped, keeping quiet. She could feel her heart hammering inside of her chest. She knew she could lie and say that she didn't, but the fact of the matter is that she did have sex with Adrien. She had done so dozens of times.
This was something Kagami had to understand and get over. Adrien didn't want her anymore. He loved someone else, and Kagami needed to finally accept that.
"N-None of that matters." Marinette replied, not allowing Kagami to draw her own conclusions from the silence between them. "Adrien is married to me. He chose me. You have to accept that it's over between you two and move on."
Kagami clenched her jaw, her fists clenching together as Marinette's deferment only confirmed what she already knew. A truth she wasn't ready to hear yet.
"You'll never be happy if you continue to obsess over someone that's made it clear since the beginning that he's not interested anymore..." Marinette continued, her head nearly spinning as she wasn't exactly sure how Kagami would react.
"If you want to leave Paris, then fine. But I promise that getting away from all of this will help you move on tremendously." Marinette murmured, hoping to defuse the situation and get Kagami out of her home before Adrien returned.
Despite the horrible things Kagami ever did and said to Marinette, she couldn't find it in herself to hate her. In fact, Marinette could tell that Adrien was all Kagami ever knew and adjusting to this change was difficult.
Marinette kind of empathized with her, but at the same time Marinette couldn't excuse the cheating she did with Luka and hurting Adrien the way she did.
That part was unforgivable.
Simply because she hurt Adrien physically and mentally.
"Fuck you." Kagami spat, leaning up from the kitchen counter with a shakey breath. "I know you both want me to leave Paris. You both want me dead." She replied, her voice shaking as a sob threatened to emerge from her throat.
"Isn't that what you want?" Kagami asked, her eyes widening as tears began to ebb from her brown eyes. "You both want me gone."
Marinette paused, her heart aching as she realised that Kagami truly lost it. Marinette truly felt for her, but at the end of the day, Kagami put herself in this position by making the choice to cheat on Adrien.
Adrien wasn't the only person she hurt in the process, but she ended up hurting Luka and Marinette altogether.
"We don't want you gone." Marinette whispered. "We want you to move on and be content with your life. We don't want you chasing us around anymore."
Marinette nearly choked on her words as it was only then that she realised that the glistening object Kagami held in her right hand was a kitchen knife.
Kagami glanced down, lightly pressing the blade of the knife on to her wrist.
"Then I should die..." she breathed, her hand trembling as she placed more pressure on to the knife. "I deserve to die. I'll do what everyone wants me to do and kill myself."
Marinette gasped, her eyes widening.
She couldn't believe what she was seeing. She was so stunned and caught off guard she couldn't even formulate a proper thought as to how Kagami managed to get inside her home in the first place.
"If I died, everything will be better. Adrien will be so happy if I killed myself. He wouldn't care that I loved him. He wanted me to die. I'll kill myself in his home with his beloved wife and I'll give him what he wanted." Kagami continued, the sound look in her eyes totally veering off. She had truly lost her mind.
Without a second thought, Marinette reached out and grabbed Kagami's hand, stopping her from doing any potential damage to herself.
It was in that moment that Marinette cursed herself for having the helping nature. Despite everything Kagami did to her and Adrien, she didn't want her to die.
Marinette didn't want to witness Kagami hurting herself. Kagami had simply lost her marbles!!
"Stop!" Marinette breathed, her blue eyes remaining wide as she began to tug the knife away from her wrist. "We don't want you to die! You don't need to do this!" Marinette had struggled. She bit her lip as Kagami stubbornly began to fight back. "It's not worth it! You truly need to get help!"
"No! Let Adrien see what you and him did to me!" Kagami retorted, fighting for the knife that Marinette managed to move away. "You both are responsible for my death! I want him to see what he did to me!"
Marinette's grip on Kagami's hand tightened and the young woman tried desperately to pry her fingers away from the knife handle before she hurt anyone else.
"If you don't stop-" Marinette breathed, unable to drown out Kagami's distressed pleas from her mind. "I'll have to call the police!"
Kagami clenched her jaw, her heart racing erratically within her chest. She gripped even tighter on the knife and glanced up at Marinette.
"You're even trying to take my death away from me." She murmured.
Kagami twisted her body and attempted to shove Marinette with her shoulder. She grunted, pushing her body against Marinette's body with all her might. There was no way she was going to let Marinette ruin another one of her plans once more.
Marinette cried out, stumbling back just as Kagami hoped for.
Kagami glared at Marinette her hands clenching for the knife.
Only...it wasn't in her hand anymore.
Marinette whimpered, tears burning within her eyes as she had never experienced such pain in her life. The young woman glanced down, her heart pounding in her ears as she could visibly see the knife handle protruding out from her side.
Kagami watched Marinette stagger backwards with wide eyes.
It was evident she had planned to plunge the knife within herself, but she had no plans of it ending up in Marinette.
"Shit." She spat out. "Shit shit shit!" The room had began to spin and Kagami could barely breathe.
Marinette blinked slowly, the blood running down her pant leg rapidly. She glanced up at Kagami who seemed just as panicked as she was.
"P-Please help me..." Marinette pleaded. She tried to reach for her phone, but the blood on her hands made everything slippery and hard to handle.
She couldn't see much in the dark, but somehow everything started to grow even darker.
"Please..." she breathed, her vision growing blurry as she watched Kagami simply stand there. "Help me..." she murmured one last time before everything went dark.
